It’s Tuesday here!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

$&*#+% Tuesday August 30

Postby Shirlv » Tue Aug 30, 2022 12:16 pm

Afternoon All, it is unbearable outside. Went for a Bls curbside pick up. Took porch friend a rotisserie chicken and she was afraid I would die in her driveway breathing humidity. My chicken leaked all over the car mat so had to make an extra trip to get soapy water and a pan to carry chicken down the carpeted apartment hall. Five steps forward and three steps back. As soon as I stop panting I’m going to have a chicken leg and iced tea. I hope everyone has a calmer day than me. Be safe

Good Morning! I’m having my baked Salmon and air fried asparagus for breakfast. The salmon turned out delicious.
I will be glad when I get some strength back. I am still pretty weak.
I have nothing to write about except my health.

Oh Shirl you are definitely not having a good day. I frequently get a to go draft beer in a cup at my usual carry out place and it bubbles out the top into my cup holder but I just let it dry  but chicken is a 'do it now'! job. I hope your weather changes for the better very soon!!1
Everyone around us had rain yesterday but it barely got the sidewalk wet here. Out yard is getting crispy with lots of falling leaves but at least the humidity has dropped for now...
My morning didn't go well either, my computer died but I finally resurrected it but it was certainly a scare. It froze so I turned it off but then it wouldn't power back on. I made a frantic call to a computer place that was no help. Then for some reason I thought to turn the power strip that part of it is plugged into off and on and it came on!! It certainly made me realize how awful it would be if it ever went out and they wouldn't be able to retrieve information from the hard drive. I've been pressing my yuck as this one is several years old so DH suggested I should order a new one for my birthday. Sometimes he does read my mind I had been thinking of doing just that for awhile.
I went to the store awhile ago and a lady was trying to get her child into a car seat. He was crying , screaming bloody murder and was stiff as a board. I know they were both miserable as it is very hot outside. I felt so sorry for them both. I would have probably been screaming and crying right along with him.

Lyn & Karen, I hope you both start feeling better soon.

There's nothing special going on here, either. Our temperatures have dropped to the low 90's instead of the high 90's, so it's tolerable outside now. We've had a chance of rain every afternoon or evening, but it seems like the storms are all around us but not here. We can see the dark skies, and lightening and hear the thunder and then it's gone. Thick cut pork chops with a salad and a side will be dinner.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Being lazy this morning on my day off and getting caught up on here while Romeow is playing with his fish on a string. :D

It will be 115* today. Hoping the humidity has gone down some. I have to do laundry today and will be heading back and forth to the laundry room down the street. It has been really warm and uncomfortable at work lately. Not sure if WM has turned up their thermostat to save money or if our shop has an issue with the vents (we have no control over the temps. It is connected with WM's system). I wear my neck fan all day long now and still feel warm! Even the customers are starting to complain. It is hard to cut hair, especially with clippers on men, when they are sweating! The hair sticks to their skin/scalp and the clippers don't like to go thru wet hair.

I have been having issues with my car starting lately. I think it is the ignition switch maybe because it will just turn over and over. Sometimes I have to turn the key off and try again. I was planning to take it to the Jeep repair shop this week but thought I should do a video of it happening since it usually only happens when the car has been sitting for awhile. So the past few days in the mornings and after work, every time I turn on my phone video and then turn the key, the car starts immediately! No problem! I really think this car is haunted!! Between that and the doors intermittently refusing to lock or unlock, and the windshield wipers turning on by themselves and not being able to turn them off (now they are working fine again, for now...), none of it makes sense since it is all so inconsistent and random! :?

As far as snakes  I do not like them! I don't like anything with no legs (or too many legs! :o ) and no fur! I would go into shock and die if one dropped down on me!! . Being out in the desert, there are lots of creepy crawlies out here including scorpions, black widow spiders, fire ants, rattle snakes, etc. Luckily, where I live, we have a solid 8 ft high wall around the park, and the crews here are very good at keeping things like that out of here too. We have never had an issue with snakes or scorpions in here. The spiders and fire ants are dealt with regularly.
When I was a kid, my brother brought home snakes and salamanders occasionally. Once a snake he brought in got loose and we didn't find it until many months later. My mom found it dead behind the couch. When I was little, I always wore socks to bed so snakes wouldn't come up and bite my toes!!
The exception for me is lizards. I like those little guys! The other day coming back from the mammogram, I had a white lizard run across the road in front of me! I tried to aim so my tires would miss him. When I looked in my rearview mirror, I just saw a white clump in the road. I was just sick! I then turned around at the next intersection and went back. When I came back along that road, I didn't see any sign of him. So he must have curled up when I went over him and then scurried off after that. I was so relieved! He was about 10 inches long from head to tail, so not a little one like I typically see.

Judy, I am big on spreadsheets! I have one made up for my monthly bills. I would like to see what yours looks like for camping. Maybe you could send me a pic in a PM for me.
As far as AC goes, I have been reading about the Soft Start system that keeps your AC from having the huge power surge when first starting up. It is a big thing with boondockers since they can use their AC with their generator and solar systems. The original Soft Start needs to be connected to the AC unit on the roof, but now they just came up with one that plugs into the outlet at the campground, so is portable. Here is a quick description, "...Soft Start is designed to reduce an RV Air Conditioner’s current demand by up to 75%. That means you can run an RV AC on a residential plug or small generator, or 2 RV AC Units on a 30 Amp service!"

Lyn, I am glad you are doing better. Hospitals are no fun. :(

I have never had my park model washed, but many of the snowbirds here get their PM's professionally power-washed when they come back to the park in the fall to get all the dust off. The park does lawn scalping in mid October and the dust and dead grass gets all over and into everything and makes a huge mess!! Not sure what the power-washing costs tho. Might be a good idea to do this fall if it isn't too much money.

As far as the drought out here, we have lots of grass lawns in the park and the sprinklers going every day. I know they do a lot of recycling with the water but I am sure with evaporation, they have to replenish the water regularly. I am surprised they haven't decided to go with more of a desert landscape here, altho I love the lawns, flowers, and ponds here. It feels more tropical than desert-like, which I really enjoy.

I guess I better get dressed and get started on laundry... Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I feel lucky that I'm not sick and not extremely tired. I was just complaining about the office bell ringing while Ty and I were in the lower area where the RV park is. I can't run up so walk as fast as I can without gasping for breath. It's these times I know I have asthma. And today is hot as will the next few days I'm lucky though that nights will still be in the 50's and I need a sweatshirt to walk Ty in the morning. I thought we wouldn't hit 90 again, but it appears we will a couple of these days.

Yesterday I took mega numbers of pictures at Kodachrome Basin SP. I'm still enjoying this area tremendously.

Barbie, your boss needs to talk to someone at WM. Sounds like a good needs to happen. BJ, if you aren't getting a new computer immediately, or even if you are, I highly recommend you get a back up drive and use it monthly. You'd hate to lose everything. And it can happen with any age computer. Lyn, I love air fried asparagus. I'm sure many wouldn't care for my spicy seasonings, but any seasonings can be used.

Sorry about your crappy day ,Shirl.
When we were talking about drinking water, I wanted to say that I drink filtered refrigerator water, and put a squirt of MIO in it. Not to sweet and only a smidgen of sodium.
My San Diego daughter came over today and did a few things for me. I also took a shower while she was here. I feel saver showing with someone here.

Beth I have something called My Password for Mac that is a back up drive. I hope it has been working! My computer is a desktop from around 1915 and it can't be updated any higher. I worry about security issues with the outdated system. So I'm going to buy one soon and go with another desktop. I just can't get used to a laptop.

Shirl, I felt bad about your mess! I didn't get a hold of the used coffee filter correctly this morning so had coffee grounds all over. This evening I had a small flatbread pizza slide off the pan when I took it out of the oven! Ugly mess!

Barbie, you might look into a small electric power washer. I had one when I had the house and used it for washing the house and the truck. With no water hookup here, I have a portable one to clean off dust and the patio. Check Amazon. You can get them for less than $200.

BJ, after having a backup drive go bad while switching to a new laptop, I now backup on an external drive AND a USB thumb drive. If you get a computer with OneDrive on it, be very careful. All my picture folders went to it and it did away with the folders and disorganized my photos! Then they keep wanting you to buy more storage.

Must be nice to be a cat who can stay indoors with air conditioning and play with a fish toy!! He sounds like the only one here doing well in the heat!! It is cool here on the ocean, but it was a hard, hot drive from Kodachrome to Las Vegas and from Las Vegas to here in San Clemente. Like most of you, I do not do well in the heat. My big problem right now is that my AC in the front dash is not blowing out of the dash openings. Instead, it is blowing out of the places near the windshield where it goes when the defroster is on, so I can't get the cool air to actually blow on me. Need to get it fixed but just no time lately.

It is going to be hot in Napa for a few days, but i will be on my way to Oregon on Wednesday of next week and it will be cool there. I plan to take my bathing suit over to my son's house and spend some time in the pool.

Lyn, one thing I did many years ago when I had each of my knees replaced was to call someone before I stepped into the shower, then I would call them back in half an hour. If I did not call them on time to let them know I was OK, they were supposed to call me, and if I did not answer, they were to call 911 or someone to do a safety check on me. Do you have a shower seat?? If not, you need to get one.

Barbie, I will PM you a copy of the top of the two spreadsheets I use. One is my planning spreadsheet and the other tracks travel expenses.

And the one thing I did with this laptop when I bought it was to delete OneDrive, having heard bad things about it and not trusting the Cloud with any of my files! I backed up my files on my two external hard drives a couple of days ago--and yes, I know I am a bit nutty about having more than one external hard drive. One will go into the safety deposit box in Napa when I get there.

I had a busy but unproductive day. I decided to go to JoAnn fabrics this afternoon to find the things I need for the SW doll gourd. I spent over an hour there and found nothing I was looking for. So I went to the WM there (a nice one!) and found nothing there either. So I decided to go out to Palm Desert to Michaels. No luck there either. So, on my way home, I stopped at Hobby Lobby. Nope. Nada. I came home and ended up ordering what I needed on Amazon. I was looking for colored feathers, suede leather pieces, and something to use for hair. So now, I have drawn my design on the gourd. I need to paint it and then can add the things I ordered that will be here on Thursday.

I didn't get home until after 8pm! :o So needless to say, I didn't get my laundry done. Guess that will happen on Thursday while I am working on the gourd project.

Oh, and thanks for the snake topic... I saw snakes on everything today! On material, on clothing, on jewelry, and even saw a "snake drain opener"! Too many snakes for one day! At least they weren't real ones! Just hope I won't be dreaming about them tonight!

Judy, enjoy your west coast travels! Your gas costs must be thru the roof with all the driving you are
doing!

It was 116* today but low humidity so was much more tolerable to me. There is a lot to be said for dry heat.

I didn't bother to video my starting my car today since my phone battery was almost dead and I haven't had a problem for a couple days. Guess what? The ignition was totally acting up again!! Every single time! The Jeep ghost is messing with me!!

Back to work tomorrow for a long day. Have a good night and hopefully, tomorrow will be better for all of us! :D
