Good morning! Although by the time I post this it’ll be afternoon here. Been awhile since I posted but it’s been kinda crazy of late. Finally got painters nailed down to paint the house but I’m going to do the window frames on the first and second floors but due to the rain the paint is still sitting here. Hoping to be able to get to it sooner then later while I wait for guys to start their part. But not complaining about the rain, we need all we can get. The grange fair wraps up today but I haven’t gone and considering the crowds I hear they’ve had it probably a wise decision. Met with oral surgeon yesterday and putting plans in place for work needed done. Probably first part of October, not looking forward to it but it needs done. I’ve put it off for long enough. I’ve been trying to follow everyone’s posts and feel for all of you dealing with weather and health issues. I’m still dealing with residual back and neck problems from the accident, not real bad but the old body just doesn’t pop back as quickly as it used to. Just the new norm for me, I suppose. I’m really starting to miss not having a dog in the house but still on the fence on getting another pet. Back and forth in my head and heart. So that’s about all the news from here but hope everyone has a great weekend.

Not much going on here. We just had a big rain. It was blowing so hard it was raining sideways. Frosty saw me standing at the door and came running. He decided the house was the place to be. I am getting real close to having 2 inches of rain this week. I dump the rain gauge on Sunday mornings and let it fill up all week.

My house has siding so don't have to paint but it needs washing. There is a spray called Wet & Forget that works good. With all this rain I should have sprayed and let the rain wash the house. Every time I go to town I think about going to Lowe's to get the spray but by the time I run my errands I don't want to go to Lowe's.

Afternoon all. I just got home about an hour ago from another volunteer stint with Habitat. We continue to work in the mobile home park and this week most of the group was from a church in Petoskey which is about an hour drive from here. It has been interesting meeting people from around different places in Northern Michigan has come to assist for a day or so. The transformation in the mobile home park over the past three months since the tornado hit has been amazing. All of the debris, damaged and destroyed mobiles have been removed. I estimate probably 20 to 25 homes left out of the original 74 and a couple of them look like they may have to be taken out. The one that I have been helping out previously, is at a point now where we cannot do anything because Habitat has to utilize their licensed and certified people who do plumbing, HVAC and building construction type stuff. The volunteers like myself are the boots on the ground people, who go in and do the preliminary work ahead of them or whatever else needs to be done that we can do. Today our job was to clean up and restore the park playground for the children. It was overgrown with weeds and grass since the tornado hit along with woody debris laying around. The basketball court was actually buried under a pile of woody debris. So we went in there and picked up and hauled out all that woody debris. One man was it in a bobcat skid steer equipped with some big teeth for picking up those larger logs and then later changed over to a bucket so that they could scoop up the debris that we were raking up. We raked, we pulled weeds, chopped out roots etc. , Another guy also had a brush hog and he went through there and mowed everything down. Then some of us got paint brushes and we completely repainted the playground equipment. So by the time we were done it was all cleaned up and once the paint dries the children will be able to return to the playground. That’s a good feeling because those kids have been through so much.

At the time I took this picture we were pretty well finished. Most of the playground equipment had been painted and they had to finish the upper part of the swingset.

This picture was taken in the back corner near the playground and it shows the huge trees that the tornado took out. They are being piled there for now until something is done with them. I believe that’s the mobile home parks responsibility. Some of them probably could be milled for lumber.

There will be no more work done in this park until the 17th of September. We have a holiday weekend next week and the following Saturday, Habitat, along with the mobile home park community is going to host a block party to thank all of the volunteers who have come out there to help. On September 9, the at Otsego county United Way is going to be hosting a day of caring and which a lot of the community businesses, organizations and individuals come together to do things for our community. It can be washing windows at the library inside and out, stuffing school backpacks for the kids, working out in the Pigeon River discovery Center doing a few things, and whatever else is going to happen. I have signed up to volunteer for tornado related projects. That will not be at the mobile home park, I don’t know if this point exactly what it’s going to involve. But on this particular day, which has been going on for a number of years, there will be some banks and other places that will close for that day so that they can help the community. It is a wonderful thing.

I also was interviewed today by the crew from habitat who was going around taking pictures. It was like being on TV. Those pictures that the cake will be used on Facebook and also for publicity for Habitat among other things. I was honored that they asked me for an interview.

Velda, , I agree with you about long-term symptoms with Covid, vaccines and all that stuff. I know a lot of people who have been complaining about being tired all the time. I don’t have as much energy as I usually do either and I sometimes think that it’s vaccine related. Like your doctor said we don’t know what’s in that stuff. I saw the other day that Pfizer Moderna is seeking permission from the FDA for the release of a new vaccine I don’t know if I want to get it or not. Covid unfortunately, is probably going to be with us for the rest of our lives, just like the flu. We are just going to have to learn to deal with it and it’s side effects I guess. We can’t hide in the closet unless you wanna spend the rest of our lives and there. We’re just gonna have to get out and enjoy life. Karen, it might that work for everybody but I have found that when I feel nauseous sometimes a chocolate milkshake or dish of chelate ice cream, will settle my tummy down. Chocolate is known for some healing properties.

Well, , now that I’ve had some time to rest I guess I had better take the fur kids for a walk because I know they had been waiting for me to come home to do it. They do need their time outdoors to explore too.

I have been fighting a cold for the last couple of days... don't want it to get overly bad (and yes I'm hoping it''s just a cold) probably should have gone and had a test ran today but I didn't that sounded like way too much work.... got breakfast out of the way read scriptures and took a nap got up to fix supper it was soup much better with the cream in the creamy soup
dd called asked if we wanted to go up with her and the kids meaning her son and his family to the barn said nope told her I had a cold guess since it's 10 they decided not to stop by and see us...
before I took a nap I looked or listened to some ideas of what to pack and my son text us a "list" they suggest more shoes than I own.... hate closed toed shoes oh I hope that I get my order's and need to figure out where to get some of the other stuff a jacket I don't own one (one of the reasons I go to AZ) last year I used my cape and lived in sweat shirts... and it's 16 days away

Sue, my Dr, a normally conservative very smart guy, flat out told me, Do Not Tale any further version of the C vaccine, not either of us! I'm seeing a few reports that the C virus and/ or the MRNA vaccine may have caused minute DNA changes. Now that's out right scary!
I had a busy day. Got up and made son, Chris, his favorite breakfast, cheesy scrambled eggs and French toast sticks and fresh fruit. Then made my big cucumber and red onion with vinaigrette , salad and put it to chill. Around 12:30, I got message that my good friend and fellow LTV owner, Laura was about an hour out, on her return trip from a 2 mo trip to visit her Mom and siblings in Wisconsin. So I got ready and met her for lunch at a favorite (family owned since 1992), Chinese restaurant just blocks from me. We had a nice leisurely lunch, then she headed on towards home about 100 miles away near Clearlake. I headed home to rest a bit, then son and I headed to our church ward BBQ/picnic in the park. Good crowd. Food not great, but I am a tritip snob, having been well spoiled by my husbands expertise. So I ate a few bites (enough to know it was very poorly prepared, then tossed rest), visited with long time friends, then we headed to A&W to get Chris actual dinner! (yes the food was that bad by our view). Home and watched tv, now ready for bed. It was a really nice day in mid 90's with not a cloud to be seen. And tomorrow begins the last few days of August amd the march towards holidays begins!

I have no doubt the covid vaccine does cause lingering side effects in some people but here are a couple of links I found very interesting in relation to DNA. But then I don't agree with a lot of what my doctor says or prescribes:) and personally believe that taking any vaccine or medication is scary.
