Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday August 18

Morning All, our weather has been nice. I’ve been lurking but nothing to post. I get on my own nerves with the same old news. Found a new YouTube site “Mandy in the Making”. She makes easy meals which are evaluated by her husband and son. Cute family who lives in South Carolina. Sue, thanks for the interesting posts. I avoid reading the horrific news and my eyes are crossing from playing spider solitaire. Guess I could learn another language but I don’t feel like it. Lol be safe

Good morning Shirl.

I left work early yesterday because I was getting severe cramps again and really did not want to end up in the filthy, disgusting Walmart bathroom with all that, in case I got nauseous or dizzy. I wish we had our own bathroom in the shop. Not sure why I am still having some bathroom issues but maybe just left over from the main event. So far no nausea from it tho.

Went to bed early and slept until 8am. Was ready to go outside and tackle the stuff out there but got stuck in the bathroom again for a bit. Finally got outside about half an hour ago (9am). I went thru stuff for about 5 minute intervals before sweating like a pig and having to come back inside for water and cool off and then go back out again. I have things in piles of trash, keep, and give away. Still have more to do but am on another break again. It is SO friggin hot and humid!!! It is 90* but the dew point is 76* ! :o Beyond tropical!! Nasty! I still have to go out a few more times, load up my car, go to the dumpster, and move a few more things, but will just do it in 5 minute spurts.

Other than that, not much else going on. Just busy with projects as I feel up to it.

Have a good day and stay cool, dry, or whatever you need to!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I went out to feed the cats and bring the trash out. I burned the papers and started spraying weed killer where I can't mow. There was something wrong with the sprayer and kept loosing pressure. I fought with that thing until I got some pliers out of the camper and tightened all the connections. I don't think I put the pliers back in the camper. That's how I get to a campground and my tools are missing. They are too handy in the camper. Now I'm cooling off. It's 92 and humid. I could have waited until this morning to mow because it hasn't rained yet. I'm glad I got it done.

Shirl, I play spider solitaire sometimes when I'm bored. I would like to be able to speak French but not bad enough to actually learn it. I took one semester in college but have forgotten that.

Barbie, hope you get over your stomach problems. I'm surprised I don't get sick from eating things that have been in the refrigerator too long. Today's project is to go through some magazines and put them in the trash.

I called Sugar's prescription in to Walmart on Tuesday and I haven't heard from them yet. I'm not sure how to get to a real person when I call because I always get a recording to reorder a prescription. Yesterday the receptionist at the eye doctor was asking me if my address and insurance was the same. She ask me if I had a primary care doctor yet. I should have ask her if she could recommend a doctor.

It is going to be 96 here today. I dont really care tho because I am NOT going outside. I will just continue to read, nap, and find something on the tv. Felt poorly yesterday and struggled to try to eat something. Ended up with a couple of cookies. Nothing appealed to my tummy. This morning I had a couple glasses of juice and some cup o soup. Tasted real good.

I need to go to the grocery store for some fruit and veggies and a few other things. A few of those cardboard meals when I dont have the energy to fix anything. They are not the best and I only have a few I will even eat. Will go to Costco this weekend for a quick in an out for a roasted chicken, individual grapefruit cups (super good and refreshing) Kleenex, cough drops and I am outta there!!!!

After a day at 107, we dropped into 90's but today is supposed to be back to 100's again. I felt really crummy yesterday, with lots of palpitations, which my Dr says don't worry about, and which are common in those woth long CoVid. I'm tired today. Handyman hasn't shown up though he said he would be here by 9:30- maybe I should have asked am or pm?! Good thing he didn't because a xfinity cable truck parked right in middle of our only parking, this blocking any other vehicle and was there over 2 hours. If I had known whose house he was at, I would have called, but could have been any of 6 houses! I don't seem to have energy or motivation to do much today!
Barbara, have you discussed yet with Dr as to why you are sick so often? Hope you feel better soon. By the way, there are unflavored, unsweetened electrolyte powders you can add to water.
Karen, so sorry you and I are in same LHC club! Hope you find something to help.
Only 98° right now, but I'm still avoiding outdoors. Pollution index is moderate and my lungs not happy.

Well, I am done, for now! I got all the stuff sorted, cleaned up (covered in dust), took a big load to the dumpster, and now the back of the Jeep is loaded with stuff for the thrift store. Only a few things I am keeping, mostly wall pictures. I found a small dehumidifier than I now have going in my bedroom. Not even 1pm and, with all the breaks I took to come in and cool off, I still got it done in a few hours! Still have some things to sort thru on my deck but no one can see that from the street. Will do that and the storage shed once it starts to cool off in a month or so.

Now will relax for awhile and find something for lunch. Soup just doesn't sound good after being so hot all morning. Maybe a sandwich... Then find something else to work on, like the dishes.

Nice cool day at the North Rim of GC! High was 74 and is supposed to be 68 tomorrow. Not only is the altitude cooling things off, but it has been raining off and on in this area for the past several days. They even have fire danger posted as low! No electric here, but I can run generator from 7-9 am and 6-8 pm, Arizona time, so it is time to turn it on right now. My two coach batteries do a good job of keeping lights and such on, but I have been careful, nevertheless.

Did I mention that a couple of weeks ago I found the switch on my generator that adjusts it for high altitude? I have had problems with my generator quitting over 7,000 feet, and knowing how high this place is, I did some research and even downloaded the correct operating manual for my Cummins/Onan generator. It showed a picture of a tiny switch, and I went outside and found it!! Adjusted it to highest level, but I did learn from the manual that for every 1,000 feet you go up, beyond 3,000 feet, you lose a couple of amps of power. So, at high altitude, I can run microwave OR AC, except it is so cool right now, after a couple of big rains, that I do not need AC. However, amazing how much we rely on our microwaves. I keep getting things out and then remembering that I can only cook things on the stove or in the oven!!

I tried to go for a walk to the visitor center from the campground, but it is 1.5 miles, and the path along the edge of the canyon is up and down and around hills and valleys, all without much oxygen. I made it about 2/3 of the way, and sat on a picnic table chatting with people, but i decided it was too far to continue and then have to walk back, so I quit and returned to the campground. I will drive there tomorrow.

Martha it is jam with seeds in it.... there was one container that wasn't filled so it became a sample today didn't put enough almond it it can't even taste it... but no sugar crystals that is a positive and set up nice... I bought some apricot jam the other day cause of the name didn't read that it was from England I find it really stiff made me wonder if that is a British thing or just this company... :o
I may have finished my treasure box for my granddaughter... when I tested the turtle it didn't move so lowered the lid it didn't fall so I put the two turtles on the top of the out side of the lid... when they have sat for twenty four hours I will open the lid and see if the turtle is still in place.. if it is it's a finished project if not then I am not sure what to do... perhaps hot glue???
I guess my "solitaire" game is my phone I get on it and color or read stupid dumb stories that make me wonder at how angry people are their first thought is to advise people to get away from the person even if married instead of seeking counseling or kids to no contact with parents again not recommending therapy. True some situations are what you should run not walk away from but most of these I think at least try to turn around... and I read then I look at the clock and realize that I've wasted pretty much the whole day...
I finished this book today and looked up the author and she has a new one coming out or is out read the description and thought if I was writing this book this is who I would have be the missing son... I have the book after looking at the publishing date realized that I have it... so to start tonight or read something else is the question!!!
Shirl glad that you posted actually been wonder where you have been...
Karen West that just sounds so sad... hopefully all of them will recover and find good homes... Karen and Velda so hope you both start healing...
Barbie there is a one line thing that you can get you send the sample in think it's a finger prick and they will test to see what you have problems with... the gal on the commercial says it could be and goes through a lot of things indicating she could eliminate one at a time or just send this in so was going to do that!!! I wish I could remember the name of the company... have no idea the cost of it... but it might be worth while... who knows...
you all have a good day ... on to my game
