First Saturday of August

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

First Saturday of August

Postby Colliemom » Sat Aug 06, 2022 5:21 am

Morning everyone. Up at O’dark thirty this morning, literally. Like a bit after 5 a.m. Bright eyed and bushy tailed. Didn’t want to go back to sleep as need to leave for mobile home park by 7:30. It’s a cool 65° Right now but supposed to head to 90. I left my windows open in my living room and in my bedroom last night and it is nice and cool in the house right now. I will be closing it up in a little while and it may stay cool for the day. If not, I will fire up my portable AC when I get home. I think we are supposed to have some clouds moving in and if they do that will keep the sun covered. That helps with the temperatures. There is a little bit of a breeze blowing and I am hoping that maybe it will stay for the day. Once we are done working in the park I do not plan to do anything else today. Tomorrow they are saying a high of 72 and rain. Going from one extreme to the other.

Read a real good example yesterday about how the tornado has impacted some of the people who lived in that park. A lady posted that she was in need of some boxes or plastic totes if anybody had any they weren’t using because her home is damaged too badly by the tornado for them to live in. She has to move out today. She has some health issues and can’t drive right now. Said that her husband used to do the driving but he has passed away. She apparently must be a young widow because she has two children, one is nine and the other one is two. Her home was damaged once before in another storm in 2018 and now again this year. Her son has developed PTSD because of both of those two storms damaging their their home within a short period of time, so she needs to get them out of there so that they can maybe start living a new norm. Found a house to move into. So they will no longer have to live in a mobile home. A couple of people responded and said that they had some boxes and totes they would be glad to give it to her and somebody else also said that she was going to contact the case managers that were recently hired by United Way to help people affected by the tornado. Case managers came through and that person delivered 12 totes to her. Couple of other people offered to help if she needed more help to move. So hear and again the community is coming through. The tornado has impacted some of the children impacted here and they get scared now every time we have a storm coming. Some posts have told of children going into the bathrooms with pillows and hiding in the bathtubs.

Shirl, sorry for all your frustration. No fun dealing with big corporations these days. Barbie, your situation is with the storms and no rain sounds like ours here. Storms come across the lake and then veer SE. fortunately we have had rain now so we are not down a whole lot but we are considered abnormally dry. It is affecting the farmers and the cherry crops and other stuff here though. But one of the cherry farmers said that he noticed that the cherries this year are some of the sweetest he has ever eaten due to the weather situation. So maybe they don’t like a whole lot of rain. He’s got me hungry for a cherry pie now :) Velda, that was an interesting conversation with your doctor. Sounds good.

Well I guess I had better quit yakking here and get going. Need to start getting dressed in a little bit. Like Valdo said have a great weekend.

Good afternoon Sue & all!

Sue, it's nice to read how things are coming together for the residents with damage from the tornado. Thank you for everything you do. Shirl, I understand your frustrations and hope things work out for you. Velda, wouldn't it be nice if all doctors were like yours? Sheila, you have so many things going on between your Mom and the dd with the remodeling work and finding time for yourself. Beth, what's going on at the hotel? I think about you lots. Pat, it's always good hearing from you! I wish we could have stopped to meet you when we were in your neck of the woods. Sandi, we know a couple friends that have Tesla's and I hope you love yours as much as they do. Cheryl, where are you and what's your next destination? Barbie, Romeow seems to feel right at home with you. Karen, I hope the weather starts cooling off for you & the others out west.

There's no new itty bitty here. We have a potluck to go to tomorrow after church and our contribution is chicken salad. Tomorrow afternoon we're going to another potluck in our resort and we're taking a mandarin orange salad. I'm always talking about food...

Was up very late last night watching tv and saw a movement. It was a mouse that came out from under my couch and then went back underneath. So I was outside with a flashlight at 1 am trying to find my mouse traps but couldn’t so I just drove into town and got some. Plus a McDonald’s sandwich, of course. Also going to stop at laundromat and get two big rugs washed.

Also broke my glass hummingbird feeder so got a plastic one I can attach to window. Hope it works.

Good Afternoon All, I did say Rabbits but it isn’t working. Weather is the same and still no landline. I had a package delivered to porch friend and didn’t want it to fry in the heat. So needed to get in the &$#*% traffic to get out of the complex. I’ve heard it is illegal to stop traffic from traveling on public roads so this county can not post signs saying local traffic only. Beach traffic on this side road blocks every street leading to local business which is also illegal. I know you are tired of hearing me whine about traffic. Irmi not much joy in life now days except a nice meal. Lol I haven’t even felt like eating. Last nights dinner was peanut butter, sliced apple, two cookies and a bowl of popcorn. It was filling but not satisfying. Tonight, soup and two cookies. I pay bills on line but received a reminder stuck in my door my water bill was not paid. Checked online bank and payment was returned.?? Sent management an email. Don’t need anymore confusion. Family text about planing a get together, I replied maybe something when there is snow in the ground. Be safe

Irmi and Shirl and anyone else who may have asked... Things are SO much better with the troublemaker gone. I like both ladies I hired. The one splitting between my office and the RV office means I'm getting some time off. The housekeeper does an excellent job but needs to do it a tad faster. That said, I'm happy to help so that the hours will not get us in any trouble. She's from England and her mother has died since she arrived here. It takes longer from death to funerals there but I'm expecting her to be flying to England for the funeral sometime soon.

And this Wednesday my friend Ginger arrives. I told her i may put her to work helping when the housekeeper does head to England. Silly Ginger said of course she will lol. If the weather (rain) cooperates Ginger and I will go to a rodeo near Bryce on Thursday. That will be my first night away from the motel since it opened. So, yes, things are definitely looking up and I hope I'm not jinxing anything lol

Sue, I love reading about everyone coming together there. That's what I remember growing up and miss about most places today.

Pretty warm, but not HOT here, in 80's. 6% chance of rain- ill believe that if my head gets wet when I walk over for mail, but call me doubtful!
Barbara, how did that big storm go? Did you get wet?
Judy, hope you evict the mouse! And hope you get birds to new feeder. I'm still waiting on visitors to my bird bath and feeder!
Beth, I'm so glad things improved with new help hired! You deserve a break and some fun!
Sue, hope cleanup you volunteered for went smoothly and you are home with AC on!
Shirl, I have a love/hate relationship with all things tech, and am so grateful my son can handle that one aspect of our lives!
Irmi and Steve, hope Ypu have fun yummy potlucks and enjoy your weekend.
Anne, I'm keeping you and Joe in my thoughts.
Have a good rest of your weekend. I'm headed to my treadmill for a walk!

Yea!! Heard a snap at about 9 pm, so I checked and discovered I had caught my mouse. (Hope it is only mouse.) I picked up the whole trap and put it in plastic bag and then walked it to the dumpster. Dark and a long walk, so I was careful to take my brightest flashlight and walk carefully so I did not fall on my right knee again.

So, he/she is gone, gone, gone. I did set another trap in exactly the same place and then also set a couple of sticky traps, one behind the sofa. Will have to check it each day, however. If no more mice caught, I will clean out my food drawer just in case it got into it.

I will have to pick up a couple more traps so I have a supply for the future. It has been about five years since I last had a mouse, however. Or at least a mouse that I knew about.

that is my fear with my 5th wheel being empty for so long... mom's house has mice occasionally we catch one picked up some new traps that I need to put out but I can actually set them more expensive but apparently fast demise and able to get rid of the mouse quicker ... now to try it :( I don't like the thoughts of it but nor do I like the thoughts of mice... do you make your own hummer food?
glad things are going better for you Beth... and I bet you will enjoy your visit with Ginger...
Sue you did good
Hopefully Velda the birds will start coming. saw a couple of birds today not sure what they were one was yellow but larger than the gold finch and the other was more white but my first thought was a chick a dee however I don't think so..at least not the black capped one...
Irmi some times food is what we have to think about ...have a chicken in the fridge that I need to figure out what to do with for supper tomorrow night... part of it (one of those cooked ones) went into corn chowder tonight ... I really enjoyed that... I need though to figure out what to do with the rest of the chicken
I was reading scriptures when I heard a voice at the door thought it was my nephew but went out and it was my youngest brother... telling mom that she needed to get ready for company in 15 minutes... so we hurried up and got dressed and brother returned with a good friend ... as he introduced her... it could possibly develop into a deeper relationship but I think right now it is just good friends... I would like to see him remarry (his wife died a few years back) way to young to be alone
so between the visit and fixing supper for mom and myself (they has an appointment in his town) so they couldn't stay longer...while eating supper my nephew stopped in to turn of the automatic sprinklers as we has Rain!!!!! almost all day was so nice... so kept enough soup for us hopefully it enough and sent the rest with nephew for supper... and again hopefully it was enough..
you all have a great day

Just laying in bed before I have to get up to get ready for work at 11. Romeow is doing his morning zoomies thru the house! I hear his claws on the floor scratching to get traction and then, thump, thump, thump... sliiiiiide....crash! :o And then the same back the other way, over and over! He is getting much more comfortable around here and less skittish with noises. He seems curious now about going out on the porch. A little too hot out there for him right now so he will have to wait a bit. I think he will like it out there tho with all the windows to look out of. He loves to sit in my bedroom window.

Ooops! Forgot to send this this morning! Better late than never! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
