Friday August 5

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday August 5

Morning All, hot, rainy and very humid weather on the island. Spent a miserable frustrating day yesterday trying to set up new landline without success. I didn’t want to bore everyone so posted a vent in the general section. Going to take today to relax and revert by to gullible goofy Shirl since I refuse to become an angry nasty American. Beth, you have been quiet, hope that just means you are busy. Everyone have a pleasant day and be safe.

It's hot and no rain for a change but we are suppose to have some this afternoon. I mowed Sugar's yard while I could. I thought I wouldn't have to go to town today but remembered Sugar is almost out of medicine. I have enough to make it to Monday morning but this medicine has been in short supply before. Don't want to take a chance in case I have to look for it. Karen, thank you for the link to the probiotics for Sugar. I am going to order some for her. She is back to normal today after one serving of rice and meat. She needs to quit eating dead crawfish.

Shirl, hope you can get your number. If I ever have a heart attack it will be from talking to AT&T. I get so mad at them. I have a Verizon tablet and they have ticked me off too. There is an office in Abbeville that is useless. They wanted to charge me $20 for some stupid reason. I don't remember what I wanted them to do but I haven't forgotten being mad. Someone at the Lafayette office fixed my problem and more for free. The tablet has a limited amount of data and since I only use it for camping and hurricanes most of the time I don't use the data. They charged me for overage for one of the hurricanes. They were not charging for some areas because of a hurricane but my area wasn't included and I had damage. If things wouldn't have been so crazy I would have argued with them.

Better get to town before it decides to rain.

It was 84 yesterday, but today and tomorrow, it is supposed to be just 80, but it is 8,300' so dry here. Hopefully, no excitement today, but yesterday I decided to get something out of one of the underneath storage bins that I very seldom access. So, I opened it and discovered that the big plastic bin was more than half full of water!! It had several electrical cords, a rug, my large bike bags, the laundry cart I use and the canvas thing that fits into it---all 100% submerged!! So I pulled everything out, but because of my left shoulder, could not get the tub full of water out. Got help from a younger neighbor, dumped it, and then started sorting through stuff and wiping it off. Rug and canvas stuff had to get hung over picnic table, but I got out a new roll of paper towel and cleaner and cleaned the storage area, plus then cleaned and wiped off all of the cords and wrapped them up neatly. All in all, the bike bags and rug are still outside, but the canvas laundry bag has been washed in my shower and is now dry.

I have no idea where the water came from. It could have been there through the last two truck washes or rain or who knows what. Anyway, I am going to get a newer, waterproof bin to put stuff in, plus I want to put my bike bags into a couple of plastic bags. Going to stop in Montrose on Monday to a laundromat to wash three rugs that I have been storing because they need to be washed in a bigger washing machine than most campgrounds have. Big bags are big ones so will have to be washed when i can get to a site with water. Whew!!

We have a big thunderstorm heading straight for my house, just a few miles away. I can hear the thunder and it is showing red on the radar. If we don't get rain out of this, then I give up on ever getting rain here! Will update after it passes!

...OMG!! :o I can't believe it died out right before it got here! Not even one measly drop of rain! It was so close! It is nice and sunny out now. I had gone out and move things under my carport so they wouldn't get wet and even moved my neighbors scooter under her carport since she wasn't home. All for nothing. :(

Now am reading that there are flash flood warnings just west of me in the valley here, including South Indio. I am in North Indio. That is how close it was here and still missed this me. Well, at least some of the valley finally got rain. When it comes that hard and fast, it doesn't do much good tho since it runs off before it can soak in. Oh well, maybe next time...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Judy, leaks in RVs can be so elusive and hard to find! Good you caught it in time to clean instead of toss. Sorry you had to deal with that and glad someone helped. I've been lucky, with NightOwl. Ever since my friend crawled up and put new DiCor around the toilet vent stack and fan housing, I've seen no leaks. Knock on wood!
It's 90° here. And I wish we would have a good storm with rain, but it's just been clouds today.
With Curves AC still out ( though Curves let us know parts arrived and techs are there working) , I just decided to take a break today.
I had an interesting Dr visit yesterday. Bit different than 3 months ago, when he said just ride out side effects. He encouraged me to take the supplements I have found helpful for my long CoVid symptoms, saying what I'm taking is way safer than the myriad of drugs people are trying, which often have side effects. He then leaned back, looked right at me and said, Miss Velda ( which seems always to be his affectionate term for me) , I thnk it will beat least 5 more years before we have enough accumulated data and study, to begin to know how to help people with long CoVid and understand the disease we are dealing with. He also agreed my BP is now stable enough that my decision to cut dose by half and keep watching was a good idea. I asked about my getting the second booster vs waiting until the next version arrives in September or October . He said, if you have had at least the first two shots ( and he said, i know you have), and Esp if you have had CoVid, he is recommending no more shots. He said, we have no idea what junk is in them, at this point! He said IF he sees a big spike in hospitalizations AND Deaths , he will reevaluate his recommendation. But for now, having had 2 original shots plus a booster And had documented CoVid, plus having had BP spikes with each shot, he repeated, do NOT get any more vaccines. I asked about Chris, who had 2 shots plus CoVid and he said, no do not take him for booster, unless you hear from me! So I'll stick to my current regimen as I outlined to him, because it seems to be working! So. With my 74th birthday just ahead, I'm one of the unusual my age only on a small dose of one BP RX and as needed inhaler for asthma, occasionally. I have read, the average person my age is on at least 8 RX drugs!
Cheers to a good weekend everyone!

that is good Velda my mom is 95 and the only RX she has is for thyroid but she gets 5 supplements a "tummy med" similar to the purple pill, iron, c and d and the little aspirin the c is to aid the iron, she just doesn't know that she has iron we have for years encouraged her to take it with little or no success  so we just finally put it in with supplements and her blood count is up so in this case no knowledge is good
we went to her have her hearing test and surprise surprise she has hearing loss.... :o around 48 in the right ear (which is the one that had lots of wax build up in it) and 60 in the other... so she is suppose to think about hearing aids or a magnifier guess she would hear ear phones and the other part would pick up the person talking or the tv so it doesn't have to be up so high.... I can see her not doing either and why spend the money on something that she isn't going to use??? perhaps if she had this happen 10 years ago I think she would perhaps have a different thought... so we will see and in the mean time talk louder...
came home and read scriptures and took a nap for supper it was ham steak in the a/f and creamed potatoes and peas... sure do enjoy that dish... good thing I don't make it very often.... mom dished out some then added to it I told her she needed to eat what she took I think she left what the second spoon full was.. she should have stopped at the first spoon full
did a washer load it's still in the dryer will get it out tomorrow
so that was most of my day
sorry for your day of angst Shirl and Anne
Anne glad that your Joe didn't have any nasty's and hope that the issue will go away with being nurtured
you all have a great day
