All good here. A quiet day.

Thank you so much, Velda.

I am waiting for an appointment for the ultrasound and, possibly/likely surgery, so I will be returning as soon as I hear from them.

UC Davis has been a BIG disappointment - when I phoned UC Davis I was told that Joe's problem was an "Internal Medicine" problem, they couldn't see him for that kind of issue, and that I would need to seek out an veterinary internist. They gave me a link to a website of (supposedly) veterinary internists in the Sacramento area so that I could schedule an appointment with one of them.

The link on the website to the internist list returned an error message.

I tried phoning UC Davis back to try for better info, after being on hold for a half hour I gave up.

So much for that.

I had been in the process of moving Joe from a vet who we had been seeing for several years (couple reasons - I had an urgent question that it took two days to get a response to (this vet owns the practice, and it is just mostly him and his clerical staff, and he is very busy) and also this vet is a 25-mile round-trip for me and does not have evening/weekend hours.

The new vet (a clinic with several vets on staff) I was in process of transferring to is open until 8 p.m. 7 days per week (Saturday and Sunday hours) and is only about a mile from my house.

I had already completed an appointment with the new vet clinic before all of this blew up; thus I was already an "officially established client".

When I phoned this new-to-me vet clinic on Saturday, I was told that the weekend vet was out sick and that there would be no one that could see Joe on either Saturday or Sunday. (Again, one of the primary reasons for moving was to have better - and weekend! - accessibility to veterinary care).

So, a lot of effort for nothing.

When I asked, the receptionist there provided me with the names of three emergency 24/7 vets in the Sacramento area:

Loomis Basin (a bit north-east of Roseville)
https://vcahospitals.com/loomis-basin

Atlantic Street

Marqeen

Since Loomis Basin seemed closest to me, and I had heard a few good things about Loomis Basin over the years, this is where I went. The Loomis Basin clinic is about a hundred mile round-trip from my house, maybe a little less. The other clinics would be even further.

I have known about Loomis vet for probably 25 years, though never had to go there. It's not far from me, maybe 20-25 min. Atlantic I'm quite familiar with. They have treated several of my animals. They saved Stormys life in 2020. Not cheap, but they have treated me well. Atlantic is across town, maybe 10 min away. The third place, I never heard of. I sure hope someone can help Joe! Poor guy.
Had about half dozen minuscule drops land on me when I was out checking drip line this morning. Nothing since. It's 85° and projected to be back to triple digits most of rest of week. Ugh, I look forward to fall!
Heard this morning that Grandaughter and her beautiful bunny Onyx, got Reserve Grand Champion at their county fair last week. Next up, her Wyandotte chickens to state fair. Sure wish I could be there for the fun!
Have a good rest of your day.

Thanks for the info, Velda. I really should have shot you an email, since I know you live in the general area I was coming to.

Oh well.

When I go into panic mode/mental overdrive, my brain usually just shorts out. I actually did better than I usually do yesterday as I was getting ready to leave for the vet - I didn't lose my car keys, my glasses or my wallet before I actually made it out to the car - as often happens.

I am loving this unseasonably cool weather we have had the last few days also - when I went to the post office this afternoon, I actually had to turn on my windshield wipers for about thirty seconds or so. Not enough drops to wet the pavement, but enough to turn my windshield into a muddy mess.

I am not looking forward to another stretch of triple digits either. Autumn can't come soon enough.

Congratulations on your granddaughter's bunny win. I used to love going to the fair - I didn't care about the amusement rides or the fast food - for me it was always about seeing the animals.

Anne, we too always loved seeing the animals and the 4h kids caring for all of them. From the birds and bunnies to horses, cows, sheep , goats and horses ! Never had my city raised boys in 4h so I'm loving hearing about my GKs doing that.
