Safety Tip

Hey all - wanted to share thi neat tip I got from my friend the cop. Get an extra key made for your rig (I have an MH, so I'm talking about the ignition/entry door key). Take off the bolt/screw that holds on your license plate. Hang your key on the bolt between the plate and the vehicle and fasten it. It won't show on the outside, no one will know it's there. In an emergency you can even remove the bolt with a coin. Also, double check any keys you may have or get made. He had me check one of my extras and it is supposed to be ignition/entry door and I found out it only fits the doors and NOT the ignition.

great idea!
yes, some keys only work the door but not the ignition as the ignition keys have some kind of internal "chip"....

our son gave us a lock box for a key or keys for the 5er. it took us awhile to figure out where to put it but the worst thing is to remember the code.. have had to use it once didn't have my key hubby wasn't home and I couldn't get in...cause I couldn't remember...

My rig doesn't have electronic locks but my car does and it has one of those keys with the chip which are very expensive. But my friend told me this also - if you go to a car desaler for your model they can make you a car tht will fit WITHOUT the chip. I din't know that and haven't tried it yet but I think it would be a greast idea for a spare.
