Rainy Monday morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Monday morning

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jul 11, 2022 8:03 am

Good morning. We just had a big downpour for a few minutes. Actually leaving a few little lakes in my yard, but they will disappear pretty quick with this sandy ground. But we needed a good soaking and I think there is more coming later today. My neighbors are getting a new roof on tbeir house and the crew arrived little while ago to finish up the job, and they wound up heeding for the garage  we will be back up on the roof pretty soon though, but they will probably have to be a little careful because the overlay that is on the roof it’s gonna be a little slippery.

So, since everything is wet outside I don’t have anything to do out there today , not that I did anyway because I mowed the grass in my yard , so I am done for now. The yard and sub entrance are at a take care of themselves self point right now. I should clean house but I’m not in the mood. But I think I will run the vac and wash my kitchen and bathroom floors anyway. Then I will get back to work on the word craft stuff as I am finishing that up. My fence peeper is ready to go outside except that I want to sit it out there for a minute to see how it looks on my fence as I am debating whether or not I want to paint the part that sits on the fence the same color as the fence. Once I decide that then I will either do that or just leave it alone and spray the polyurethane on it and let it dry. The other two that I am making for friends are just about done and they should be ready to assemble maybe later this morning or this afternoon. I just ordered another batch of patterns from Winfield last week so they should be coming sometime this week. These are for down the line projects. Except for one.

So I guess I’m gonna jump in the shower and get my day started here. Hope you all have a nice day out there today whatever you get into.

Good morning gals.

I tried subQing Lola again last night but didn't get far before she started really fighting me, so I stopped. Later she started throwing up clear fluid for several hours into the night. She kept just meowing over and over. She didn't want me to touch her. Sometime tho in the night she came up on the bed and slept next to me for awhile. I was awake most of the night tho until early this morning when I finally fell asleep.

This morning I found her laying on the couch. She looked a little better, probably from the subQ I got in her. I offered her a tiny bit of canned food and some chicken. She took a bite of chicken but spit it out and that was it. She also missed her litter box overnight, for the first time ever. Even when she had chronic diarrhea, she never missed the box.

I called the vet and told him what was going on. He also thinks there isn't much more that can be done for her at this point. He told me to bring her in this evening so I have the day to spend with her. I am so sad. This came on so quickly. But renal failure does that. My friends Debbie and Dave just lost one of their cats a couple months ago like that. She was fine and then just suddenly lost a lot of weight and quit eating and then it was over just in a short time. They say that by the time you start seeing symptoms of kidney failure in cats (for Lola, that was 3 years ago), the kidneys are already 75% damaged.

So it will be a long sad day for me.

Good morning ladies
So sad for you Barbie, we all know how hard it is.
Can't stand this heat wave and I hold my breath my AC makes it through the season. Can't do anything when it's this hot. Havent heard from son in about a month, makes me worry. I pray he's ok. My hibiscus is suffering in this and I brought it up on the deck where it would be more shaded. I bought some large growbags to transplant but now I don't have the funds for potting soil. My Banana plant is re-cooperating well from it's transplant shock. I expect it to take off in a couple months. Although it will awhile, it will be fun to get bananas. Even after the bloom, it takes 7 to 9 months for the fruit. Lol, like waiting for a baby lol
Well that's all I've got for now, ya'll have a great day

It is a cool morning low sixties when I let the dogs out at six. Hope it last for awhile but I think the heat is returning.
Barbie I'm so sorry to hear about Lola. You have taken such good care of her. (((Hugs))))

Beth let us know how the crainialsacral therapy treatment goes. I have a friend who currently can't work due to extremely dry eyes. I tried it once for my Trigeminal Neuralgia but unfortunately it didn't help. It was a good experience though never any pain or feeling of discomfort. it was very gentle and yet I could feel very slight movement when he worked on my head. At one point he had a finger inside my mouth pressing gently behind my upper back tooth with the other hand pressing a place behind my ear. I hope it helps you.

I should be up and doing something productive while it is cool but here I am. I did get Pippa's daily grooming done. She is pretty good on the table but she has really fine hair that is going through a stage so it takes at least 20 minutes. It is supposed to get better when she is about a year old! She is 9 months old today which is hard to believe the time has gone by so fast.

Ava I hope you hear from your son soon I'm sure you are worried! We have been having the worst heat/humidity ever here off and on and I worry about the A/C and also power outages.

Barbara, I am so very sorry this day has come. Give her lots of love.
Yesterday evening, I noticed our sky to east amd south east had a funny slightly brownish grey tint along with the blue. I checked AQI (air quality), and it was good,in green on all 3 apps. Went out front and sky to west and north looked normal. No huge fires close, except Yosemite over 156 miles away. Yet something didn't feel right. Get up today and 2 of 3 indexes are in yellow and third almost there, with predicted unhealthy for sensitive groups later! Ugh, guess smoke season has arrived! Will try to get to Curves earlier than usual and home to filtered air!
So glad we have good AC with filters that actually attract dirt out of the air with electrostatic properties.
Stay safe today everyone.

Good morning. 59 out this morning. BUT having a heat surge of 99 here today and 92 tomorrow and then back down to the 80's. Was awakened rudely at 2am by a power bump and since I have Alexa that turns ON every light in my house it was a little startling. Had to wait a few minutes for the wifi to reset then turned them off by my phone, took me 2 hours to go back to sleep. LOL I understand someone ran into a power pole and the wires were down so guess that was the issue.

Barbie I am so sorry you are going to lose your faithful Lola. My heart breaks for you. Never a happy day.

I need to get outside and water my tomatoes. I have 2 I am watching LOL they are turning red while the rest are green ha ha

Barbie, so sorry to hear about your Lola. It’s never easy to say good bye to them. But just know you’ve always loved her and did the best for her. I still miss my best travel buddy.
I spent time yesterday with oldest son and his family for his birthday. Plus got to spend time with the 2 pups and oh, the grandkids! The dogs I can understand but the grands I realize how wide the gap in age really is! But still enjoyed the time with them all. I’m still trying to learn at least some of the technology on my new car. The “getting started” manual is about 150 pages and I haven’t even gotten into the actual owners manual! So use what I can right now and not worry about the rest! But it is nice to have a car again even if it sits in the driveway most of the time! At least it’s there and I don’t have to worry about the parking situation at the grocery store and whatnot like I did when I used the RV. Otherwise I’ve just been puttering around the house and working outside when it isn’t to hot. My backyard is so dry so I’ve held off mowing for now. I think we’re supposed to have rain tomorrow but so far they aren’t predicting a lot. Mostly wind will be the biggest worry. I keep watching my neighbor’s garden and it seems to be doing well. Told them I would sneek over in the middle of the night to grab a tomato but they ruined my thought of a midnight raid by telling me I could help myself anytime. Darn, no fun in that!! Not that I’d actually do it but it sounded good! They are such good neighbors and glad we can joke around now and again. Carol, glad Bill is doing better. Beth, hope you’re able to get some good help sooner then later. That can’t be easy for you or on you. Alice, good see you posting again. Suppose I should quit rambling and go get a few things accomplished today. I’ve been on the phone a good part of the day trying to take care of business things and hopefully that’s done for awhile. Hope you all are having a good day. Stay safe.

Barbie, so sorry about Lola. It's so hard to let them go. Kidney issues seem to be too common in cats.

I gathered up all my papers to go renew my drivers license and get a RealID one. When I got to the DMV they were closed again. I would sure like to have a state job where my office was closed half the time. So went to Walmart and spent my $100. I picked up a few things for the camping trip but probably forgot something since I didn't have a list.

My lights just went out for a couple of minutes. The sky is really dark to the North and the wind is picking up. I thought the bad weather was in the Gulf. Better get off the computer before the electricity goes out again.

Made it to Indiana around 1:30 pm today. Got here early because I could not sleep last night and ended up leaving campground at 7 am, which is very, very early for me! I got set up and then took a two-hour nap, but will still try to get to bed a bit early tonight. Need to drive 200 miles tomorrow to COE campground on Mississippi River.

Got my rig loaded up, especially my refrigerator and freezer with Michigan goodies, so I think I have enough food for at least a week! I also have gifts for grandkids in California and their parents. I am also taking my mother's punch bowl, with its large platter and 24 cups to my CA daughter. I had given it to my Ohio son and DIL, but they really do not do any entertaining, and the ones in California do, so it will get better use. (I asked if they had used it, and they said it was just taking up storage space, so I asked if I could take it to CA.) It is the Candlewick pattern that my parents bought in the late 1940s, and I washed and wrapped each piece yesterday in tissue paper and bubble wrap. My mother used it a lot, but amazingly, there are no chips or scratches on the punch bowl or any of the cups. The ladle does have a small chip, but I might try to replace it. Anyway, I had given my California DIL all of the rest of the serving pieces that my mother had, and she has used it often, so now she will have the punch bowl and cups.

Sorry to hear about your poor, old kitty, Barbie.

I will be leaving soon with Lola. It has been a hard day watching her deteriorate and saying good-bye to her. Now she can barely walk so I carry her to the couch, to her food and water dish (which she mostly ignores, altho she just did eat a small piece of chicken), to her litter box (she had a spot of red diarrhea the last time), etc. So sad to see how quickly she has gone downhill in just a day or two. Three days ago she seemed fine. I keep second guessing myself if I am making the right decision. :? I guess that is normal tho. It will be a hard night for me...

Martha, I hope you stay safe with the storm tonight!

I have a bit of good news (which is badly needed right now!).

I got my HPV (from my pap) results back just now and they are normal! Yay!

Also, just got an email from our Board of Dirctors of our HOA and they have renewed their contract with Spectrum for a much better deal. The new contract includes 150 channels of cable TV (which we already get) plus Wifi is now included in the package (I currently pay an additional $75/mo for that), and it also will now include the Sports package which includes the Golf Channel (which I couldn't afford to get before). Our monthly HOA will go up $25 per month, but I will no longer have to pay the $75 monthly for wifi, so I will save $50 per month and get the Golf Channel, and the wifi speed will go from 100 to 400 Mbps. Also we get free DVR service. So that is a huge win!

Now to deal with the bad stuff...
