Good afternoon, Shirl and all. Perfect summer day here too. Temp is 75° With very low humidity and nice fresh breeze. Tbe air smells so good, all you want to do is breathe in lungs full of it. All the windows were open in church this morning and with the ceiling fans going, it felt like being outside. According to the latest weather predictions that have come out, Northern Michigan. and the Upper 40’s are going to have temperatures a little below normal which puts us into the 70-80 degree range and the nights will be down into the upper 40s-5’s . So not much below normal. And since our temps start trending into That range after mid July, they say we are going to have the most perfect summer weather in the entire country. Not that there won’t be a day or so of 80-90 degree Weather, but it will be short lived. But we do need rain. And hopefully we will have some tonight and maybe tomorrow into Tuesday but it’s going to be scattered. Sorry that so many of you are suffering through exceptionally hot temperatures and humidity. Maybe y’all better come up here for a while.

Work project at tree mobile home park yesterday turned out to be not as long as we thought. Out of the approximately 75 homes I think were in that park, 40 of them were either totally destroyed or damaged beyond repair and have been cleared out. So needless to say there’s a lot of empty ground in there. Of the ones left, some are not damaged at all and others are going to need to be repaired in some form or another. There were 14 of us that showed up along with three trucks and trailers, some from surrounding areas. What we had to do was go around to about a half a dozen or so mobile homes and remove the skirting from around the bottom. These are ones that Habitat for Humanity is going to be repairing. The skirting needed to be removed because the inspectors have to check underneath them to make sure that everything is OK before further repairs can continue. There was also a lot that a couple of us were going through with trash bags, picking up a lot of small debris laying around on there from one of the mobile homes that. had been taken off. Mostly little pieces of metal and some insulation, pieces of ceramic tile, cans and other stuff. In other words picking up pieces of a family’s life and home. We were down in a little over an hour and a half. So now we will wait for the next call that goes out for volunteers and see what’s going on. Habitat said they are moving as fast as they can but it’s taking time to get things lined up and everything. Donations of money are still coming into the community. The city is slowing up On cleaning up some of the debris, because the budget is getting very tight. Having a tornado is something that most places don’t budget for. They want to avoid using any more taxpayers money than they have to to finish cleaning up debris and stuff, until they can see how much money they are supposedly going to get from the state. My understanding is, that Gaylord has not hit the threshold to be able to get anything from FEMA as of yet. Being that this is a small community of a little over 4000 population, Gaylord des not have as many of the services that take care of these type things like other areas do. So the Director of the community foundation has been making a lot of phone calls to other areas organizations to find out how to deal with this kind of situation. They have allotted some money to hire two Disaster Management directors to assist in helping and directing people to the resources they need in the area. Right now both of the Conmunity Foundation and and United Way are doing this. But both have small staffs and are swamped, not to mention this type of disaster is a bit out of their league. We don’t have tornadoes like this up in this neck of the woods. The $1.2 million that has been raised so far is being parceled out out in the form of grants, the biggest n the organizations history gong to Habitat to start on repair work. Like it has been said, this is a marathon not a sprint, and there’s going to be a lot of lonely Hills and roads along the way. I think in some ways we may actually be moving faster than the government is responding. But shortage of material and labor is also causing issues.

Enough tornado stuff. I’m heading out to do a little mowing in my back out here. It’s more dirt and grass but it needs to be cut down a bit. Need to blow off a little bit of the junk off the sidewalks on my deck too. And then see what else I might get into for a little while. So you all have a great afternoon out there. Actually may still be morning in some places

Still testing negative for COVID, thankfully! I did more research and found out that the incubation period is much shorter for the newest versions of this disease. Delta was up to 10 days, but Omicron was about 5-7 days and the newest B4 types is about 3-4 days, so hopefully I am OK. That is very good considering I was sitting next to my son for two 30 minute periods in a closed car. So far, none of the kids are sick either and son is feeling better.

California son was complaining about his 15-tyear-old daughter stuffing all her stuff in the bottom of her closet as her attempt at cleaning up her room. He said he chewed her out and told her that does not count as "cleaning" your room. I reminded him that he left home 25+ years ago with the space underneath his desk where the chair is supposed to go completely stuffed with clothing!!! I also reminded both sons that after they left, it was amazing what I found under their beds and in the floor of their closets. His response was that that was a long time ago! (I love it when you can remind grown kids when history repeats itself!)

Got my freezer stuffed with Michigan goodies and am headed west tomorrow to Indiana, then Illinois, and Iowa and eventually California. One more short trip out today to get some Vernors and Faygo Red Pop and a couple of other things, so I will be ready to go. Weekenders have left this state park overlooking Lake Erie, so it is very pleasant today without the crowds. High of 82 today, but with a nice breeze off the lake.

Good morning to all - we are into SUMMER now temps today 109 and tomorrow and next day in 111's and that is at the airport in middle in town. We live on the far east of town at the lowest elevation so usually is 2 to 4 degrees high in this area. But after a point a few degrees doesn't make any difference. Already 30 days 100 or more. I am working on another Christmas Tree wall hanging. The first one is done and it was fun to make so have started another one. Not a good picture but - still needs pressing.

Bill is doing fine. No dizziness or hard breathing or chest discomfort. He even went out very early this morning for a short walk. I do have to keep reminding him to drink water it is easy to dehydrate here. 8 more days till his CAT scan and a wait of 4 days for results. I'm pretty sure he will need something done. Hopefully just a new stent.
Wish we could go somewhere. Price of gas here is still over 5.50 - Maybe by the time we do travel it will be down some.
Time to watch NASCAR race.
Every one try to stay cool and dry and travel safe.

This is my weather forecast for the week and I'm suppose to go camping next to a swamp.
No cause for alarm at this point, but the National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of low pressure that is expected to develop in the northern Gulf of Mexico this week. Heavy rainfall is likely to be the biggest impact to our area over the next few days and most of us could definitely use the rain. However, the heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in some locations. Any development of this system will be slow to occur while it drifts just offshore through the week. ~ Donald

The weather report yesterday predicted a lot of rain for this morning so I mowed all the grass except where it was too wet. The mosquitoes were bad and of course I forgot to put on OFF. My legs are still itching from all the bites. There has not been a drop of rain yet.

Judy, have a good trip West. My two boys were so different. My older one was always so neat and organized. I thought maybe I brought the wrong kid home from the hospital. The younger one is worse than I am.

Carol, I like your Christmas Tree wall hanging. I could make one of those and not have to get the tree out. Glad Bill is doing better.

I think I will either have to board Charlie or take him camping. He is eating, drinking and using the litter box but moves so slow. I left the door to the cage open and he doesn't want to come out. He likes his new house and bed. I will have to check him good in the morning and see if I think he needs to go to the vet.

My middle grandchild in Ohio, a girl, is just 14 and is extremely organized and neat. She has taken over all of the lawn mowing, driving the lawn tractor with skill and never missing a single spot of lawn. And this is for a yard which is 1 acre in size. However, I listened to her the other day "train" her 12 year old sister in how to work the tractor and mow the lawn--pattern to drive in, when to make turns, how to circle around certain obstacles, etc. I didn't catch everything she was saying, but I think it was a bit bossy and detailed for her sister, who got off the mower and left! Middle child's room is extremely neat and always clean, while her sister's has always been a disaster zone, so not sure this training will work out!

It is immensely satisfying, however, to remind your grown children that their kids are doing the exact same things they did at a certain age!!

I'm giggling here that I fixed the title of your morning post, Shirl. You were taking us back a month. I'm also laughing at how much things repeat themselves through children. Nothing much to report here. I have a good applicant but she's not committing so I might have to continue looking. I got a good email yesterday so tomorrow I'd no commitment by afternoon I'll talk to this person. I've had several I'm not interested in, and that says a lot because i3 need someone!

Only one room left to check in. I hope soon!

Tomorrow I go to Cedar City for a treatment for dry eyes. It sounds crazy (it's called cranialsacral therapy) but my sister has had two treatments so far and is amazed with the results. If it goes well it can help my sinuses also which would help my headaches too.

We had sprinkles a couple times today that amounted to nothing. And I gave Ty a bath. Exciting times lol

Good evening gals!

I gave Lola some chicken last night while I was eating some, but then at bedtime she wasn't asking for her wet food/chicken dinner so I figured she was full and didn't feed her (she has kibble available all the time). This morning she wasn't begging for her breakfast and I found her on the couch not looking too perky. I put food in her dish and had to carry to over to it. She just took a couple nibbles and went back to the couch. I was really worried about her all day. When I got home, the food was eaten but she really didn't look good. I immediately took her into the bathroom and started subQ'ing her (I do it in the bathtub where I can hang the bag and control her better). She wasn't happy about that but she put up with it. It has been about an hour and she is perking up some. She is now begging to go out on the porch. Well, it is about 113 degrees out there so I don't want her out there especially while she is dehydrated. I will subQ her again tomorrow. With all the wet food I give her, I figured she would stay hydrated enough, but I guess not. I am sure her kidneys are not working like they used to so she needs more water than she is drinking. I might get her a water fountain and see if that encourages her to drink more water. She will be 19 in December. :o

Karen, what are your big plans for those two tomatoes? :D

Judy, glad you didn't get Covid!

Glad to hear Bill is doing well. " But after a point a few degrees doesn't make any difference." I totally agree! After 110* it is just plain too damn hot!

Martha, I hope Charlie recovers soon! He may become a camping kitty! Hope you don't get too flooded there.

I was complaining today about the bad tips (or none at all) all day, until my last customer gave me a $21 tip! That was nice! I have the next 2 days off now. Need to make my list of things to do...

Have a good evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Got to thinking about the song "The Other Generation" from the 1961 movie "Flower Drum Song." It is about Chinese Americans and a recent father and daughter Chinese immigrant in San Francisco and their young adult children. There is a line where the father and a female friend are talking about his problems with his son, and he sings, "I hope my grandson gives his father Hell!"

didn't there used to be rumor of parents giving their children a curse??? "I hope you have a kid just like you?" or words to that effect???
hopefully all the kitties will start feeling better?
did I see that there was a fire somewhere down in southern Utah Beth? I remember thinking that I wonder how it was in conjunction with you... I hope that you get the help that you need
been a busy day went to church came home waited for friends of mom's to come by (they come every Sunday after church) then started on the breakfast we were going to eat around 3:30 so it was closer to or after 5... the bacon was crisp did the sausage in the air fryer and unfortunately over done but not as bad as it would have been on the stove... the sourdough pancakes were good but not as sour as normal... I've not used the start for well over a year in fact it's still on the counter need to put it away but wanted it to do the natural thing I will just need to use it again soon... it's very old I hope that it survives the neglect that I've given it...
Velda the dip is something that comes from my husbands family actually his mom and we don't know how it happened... I am sure the story was a good one. but it is simply fudge (the recipe is on the Hershey's box sometimes) that is not quite cooked long enough more a very soft ball stage which you then pour over individual pieces of cake and enjoy.... that is if you ignore the carbs in it  it is a favorite dessert a lot of the kids ask for it for birthdays for their dad's birthday for what ever excuse they use...
My granddaughter gave me her colors as hers will be the next crocheted afghan.. but if I flake off working on this one it will be awhile... I think I took a nap when I normally would be working on the afghan
want to work on granddaughter's treasure box.... have this idea that I want to ponder perhaps some of you will chime in... it's a treasure box shape box... will stain it dark walnut when I got it also got some paper butterflies and grasses ect as T said she also likes butterflies so sorta thinking of putting some on then using the poly coating over or should I put the paper butterflies over the poly coating then something over the butterflies... the butterflies would be something that you use in scrap booking
right now I am thinking putting them on before the poly coating but still not done this so not sure... also have some 3 dimensional turtles... they are going to look so cute on it I think 3 dimensional is the way to describe them.... figurines... but they will be so cute...
you all have a good day
