Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday

Good morning to all - no catchy title this morning. I was surprised it is Thursday already - though I know for sure yesterday was Wednesday as I met a girlfriend for lunch. Nice to get out of the house and visit. We worked together in Los Angeles and used to travel a lot. Together we went to London, China, Rome, Paris and cruise through the Panama Canal. Miss those days. We went to Panera, forgot how good their salads were.
Been working on a Christmas Tree wall hanging, trying to use up some of my Christmas material. It is fun to do so might make a couple more of them for gifts this year.
Judy - been thinking of you. There is a big relocation of mountain goats from Valley of Fire going on now. They are taking them to somewhere in Utah as vegetation and water here is getting scarce. Also thank you for posting link for covid tests. Covid was going up here quickly for a while, but is going down again now. Also don't know if it is the state or national government but we can now get the covid pills medication right from the pharmacy without having to contact our doctor if we test positive for Covid.
Which is a good thing as we can never get a hold of a doctor here in Vegas. Bill will have his CAT scan for his heart on the 18th and hopefully we'll know something by the 22nd. Hoping he will just need a stent or two. He is really insisting he is going to Mexico for the winter, no matter what.
We have had 27 days over 100 already this year and all the days in the forecast are from 105 to 108 or higher. We live in the lowest part of the valley so the temps here are quite a bit higher than the "official" temperature from the middle of the valley.
Might look into walking at a gym, my ins should cover the cost and one of the ladies I walked with goes there. The mall stopped opening early during covid and hasn't started up again, also quite a ways away.
No other news from here.

Thanks for the update, Carol. I look every day to see what Bill's test are saying. While we're hitting 90 here more often than I like, nights are still getting down to the 50's and even some 40's. It makes for very pleasant sleeping and mornings. Last night it cooled off enough for guests to enjoy our fire pit. Lots of marshmallows toasting.

I haven't heard about the owners talking with the housekeeper I want hired but before they left town they did give the trouble maker notice. She'll be gone August 1st and is taking a week in before then off. Yesterday she came into the office and told me to take the knife out of her back. I can't wait till she's gone. Of course it'll be nicer if I have help here before then. I'll call the owners tomorrow.

I'm mainly off today and Ty and I intend to go on a short hike to a cave and waterfall. Then I think I'll go to the close town and get some ice cream.

Have a good day everyone.

Another day with heat advisories as temps are expected to be in upper 90's with high humidity making it feel like 110 BUT!! clouds are coming in an it looks as though the rain may actually be heading our way.
Carol I hope Bill will feel better soon. Is it cooler in Mexico than where you are now during the summer?
Beth I hope the bad housekeeper leaves soon and you get a nice person to work with you. I know how uncomfortable working with some one like that can be.
Emma and Pippa have been making friends with each other. So far Emma mostly ignores Pippa and thankfully no sign of aggression. Pippa is comfortable enough to play with her toys next to Emma.
I'm going to go do a rain dance and take a nap.

Good morning gals!

I was gonna post last night but fell asleep reading the other posts.

My doctor appointment was interesting. I was brought into the room by the nurse and was asked some questions like they do. I had written down on a form I filled out earlier, some issues I wanted to discuss with my doctor (it asked "is there anything you would like to discuss with your doctor today?"). So the nurse asks me, do I want my physical or do I want to discuss my issues? I said, can't I do both? She said no, I can only do one and then make another appointment for the other one. WHAT??? How insane is that!!???? I told her I would go with the physical, figuring I can just ask the doctor about my issues while she is doing the rest of the physical. So that is what happened. I had her look at the spots on my back and she said they are just age spots. She then checked my left ear (I have been having occasional pain) and she said it looked fine so probably just from the sinus infection. Also told her about the snoring issue and she agreed to set me up for a sleep apnea appointment with a specialist. All this discussion, etc, took less than 5 minutes, that I was told I would need to set up another appointment for! Crazy!!

The only other issues that came up was, of course, my border-line high cholesterol levels which she talked to me about getting put on Statins. I told her I would rather try other methods first before going that route. Also, I hadn't remembered that the last pap I had a year ago, showed HPV signs, so she did another pap yesterday to see if they were still there or not. Will see what those results are and then go from there. She said sometimes they can go away on their own and sometimes they can turn into cervical cancer, but most of the time they are not an issue.

Whew! So from there I went to Nature's Art where they have lots of beautiful artwork made from natural materials (or look like natural materials). I like to look for pieces of wood and get ideas for my gourd art. I didn't buy anything but got some new ideas. They make custom art work for lots of wealthy people in the valley.

After that, I stopped to pick up some shredded chicken for Lola and then to DQ for a chocolate cone. Took a nap when I got home and worked on some proofreading stuff.

Today, will just putz around here and try to get the printer set up.

I ordered the free Covid tests from that website last year when they first were available. I wonder if I can order them again, or if it is a one-time thing?

Enjoy your day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I kind of lost yesterday. I felt okay in the morning but as the day progressed I felt very puny. I did not eat anything yesterday but stayed hydrated. I finally went to bed at 6:30, felt good BUT was awake at 3am. But today I feel much better. Ate a scrambled egg for breakfast and maybe some soup later on. I am sure there will be a nap in my future this afternoon.

It's been raining off and on all morning. The noon weather said our feel like temperature would be 105 if it wasn't raining. It's only 83 so I'll take the rain. I made a reservation for the July campout and it looks like this weather will continue thru next week. The campground is only about 50 miles from here. It's on the edge of the Atchafalaya Basin Swamp so hope the mosquitoes aren't bad. I need to put a can of Yard Guard spray in the motorhome.

I finally remembered to start the chicken and dressing in the slow cooker this morning. I was digging in the freezer this morning and knocked something behind the drawer. I had to unload the drawer so I could lift it out. I should unload it more often, found things I forgot I had.

Barbie, that was a crazy doctor's appointment you had. I still haven't tried very hard to find a doctor. I looked at all the ones affiliated with the local hospital and didn't see one that I wanted to go to. I don't know if this is happening in the rest of the country but the walk-in clinics are opening up on every corner. I personally think they are just about useless. About the only thing I have ever gotten from one is a flu shot.

The lady that schedules our Meetup Meals scheduled two a month through November. I have never heard of any of the restaurants. I will be camping for the next one and it sounds interesting. I'll have to look it up.

Beth, I hope they didn't fire one housekeeper and not hire you another one.

Thursday, it is! Without the kids, I am so confused about what day of the week it is.

I bought a dresser from FB marketplace & spiffed it up a bit using 'Restor-A-Finish'. I'm really pleased at how it turned out. So much easier than stripping, sanding & re-staining it. Just put it into place this morning. I had just brought a little one from KS with me - now need to move everything & get rid of the little one.

Barbie, I was almost afraid to ask questions at my DR visit since I'd read so much about what is allowed at a 'wellness' visit (which is what they scheduled it as). Good for you in handling it the way you did.
And yeah, you should be able to order additional covid tests. I've gotten emails from medicare.gov reminding me that they are available.
Beth, hope you get a new housekeeper soon - it's really tough working with a negative or down-right nasty person.
Martha, I frequently wake up in the wee hours & can't get back to sleep. Hate it!

Wish those of you getting rain could send some our way...
Hope you all have a great day!

Still negative for COVID. I really did not spend more than a few minutes in the same room as my Ohio DIL last Saturday, and the only time I spent close to my son was a 30 minute car ride on Tuesday, before he had any symptoms, but the stress of worrying is really getting to me.

Did I mention that yesterday morning, I got a 2nd booster, when I went to see my new internist? I felt a little achy last night before bed, but took some Tylenol. Fell asleep in bed holding onto my cell phone and then woke up a couple of hours later with chills and dropped the phone! My arm was starting to hurt also, so more Tylenol. Went back to sleep and no aches or chills this morning. And took another test late this afternoon, and it was negative. Arm is still a little sore, but I expected that and the chills. Hope the booster helps at least long-term.

Am now in Michigan at Sterling SP overlooking Lake Erie, south of Detroit. Got errands to run tomorrow and am going to do them with a good mask and as quickly as I can, assuming I still do not have any symptoms! At least I have my refrigerator stocked for a few days. Heading west on Monday.

are you saying Barbie that we are boring  some days I feel like I am as I try and thing about what I may have done... sorta reminds of a time when we did a monthly family letter via e-mail I believe but hadn't gotten any thing to put together into the e-mail so sent out pleas nothing so sent out a warning that we would make up news if we didn't get anything soon... we didn't and we did it was fun!!!! it finally petered out but we did enjoy the news letter... miss them as well as the reunion's that we stopped doing... oh well things change and there isn't much that we can do sometimes...
so my boring day today was... got up yea scripture's yea shower yea sanded some on my treasure box yea and tied knots yea.... decided to pull some spaghetti sauce out of the freezer could see a meat ball in it so I added enough for us when it thawed in the sauce pan enough I realized that it was more meat balls than sauce so found another bottle of sauce and poured it in so had pasta and meat balls and some sauce a few still left but since they were frozen once I hate to refreeze them not sure what to do with them as there is no pasta left over... and we have had that more than I want need to figure out another way of using the sauce still in bottle and a few meat balls.. any idea's
Martha you sound like I feel my kids give me a rough time occasionally for not going to the dr I quite frankly don't know who to use as a dr... I like the ones my girls go to but they are in Driggs and at this time I am in Jackson I still need to get supplemental insurance
I hope Beth that you can get someone that will work well and you will like... this gal doesn't sound like fun to be around...
you all have a great day
