Cloudy Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cloudy Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jul 05, 2022 6:50 am

Good Morning everyone. Hope you all had a nice 4th of July yesterday, whether you were doing anything special or not. Was very quiet around here. There were some fireworks over on Heart Lake but that was all. I didn’t see them, but I watched a great 4th of July celebration from our nations capital last night.

It’s cloudy here this morning after a nice rain last night. Supposed to clear later and be nice the rest of the week. Temps in normal range, which is 70’s. Currently 56 degrees right now.

Not sure what’s on today’s agenda. Too wet to paint fence posts. Kind of in a mood to take a ride, but we shall see. Put some primer on my pallet fencing project yesterday but kind of damp to paint them right now. Raccoon project coming along nicely. The face of mine is done and I’m almost finished with first coat on the other two.

So gues I will go have my protein shake, muffin and some strawberries, then decide where my day is going. Need to call the company doing the generator and give her the credit card numbers for the deposit on it, so he can order it. Beth, hope you get the housekeeper situation straightened out.

So I will wish you all a nice day and leave you with a laugh for the day. Wonder if any of us can relate to this

Good afternoon from Dingle, Ireland. A bit of a free day until 3. Cute shops but not much of a shopper anymore. Lots of breweries and distilleries with generous samples. Irish pub with music last night. Food has been great for the most part. Beautiful country!

Morning Sue and All, humid weather is back, enough said. Sue I can relate. Lol. Anita, sounds like a great trip. I had ham with last of potato salad last night and will have ham on a Cobb salad tonight. Saw a little fireworks across the field at waters edge. Was a little touch of celebration. No heavy traffic outside my window so gas prices and economy having an impact on beach goers.
BJ, does raising strawberry plants make you feel powerful. I had one strawberry on my plants and it was good. Be safe

Good morning. Woke up to a light rain, 61, smells so good outside. Didn't have to water this morning so came back in and got my second cup of coffee. The first 2 cups of the day are the BEST. Anita you sound like you are having a very good time. I have never been to Ireland but it looks beautiful. Sue still working on her projects, I think they will be fabulous. We really do have some amazing talent here. Will be eager to see Barbie"s gourd.

Will have quiche for dinner and some fruit. Just a salad will work for lunch, at least that is my plan for now but we all know how those can change.

It is a HOT morning here could you share some of your cool weather Sue?! We are under a heat advisory an it is supposed to be 98 today and forever...oh and with high humidity making it feel around 110. We were supposed to get some rain but now that has changed. Only cooling down at night to high 70'a but with the high humidity it still is uncomfortable. The dogs handled the fire works well mostly just barked at some. It boggles my mind how much money people must spend on fireworks especially with everything being so expensive now. It is especially strange as it is illegal to sell fireworks in Illinois but they had a tent set up selling them at Rural King until someone came in at night and stole a lot of them. The police just ignore the complaints from people who have PTSD or that have dogs going crazy. Plus it has been going on for a week and some are the big sonic booms that make one think something has blown up.
Anita I am so enjoying your pictures of Ireland, I would so love to go again but I just don't have the energy. My friends live in a small village on Achill Island in Co Mayo. I drove there from the Shannon Airport in late 90's and found it very easy. My niece and I went in 2006 and traffic was a nightmare. Huge buses on those narrow roads some with a stone wall along side so you couldn't get over very far. I cried at the Cliffs of Moher as they had fenced all the Cliffs off that I had walked out and sat on during the 90's. You had to go through a turn style gate to see the view. There was a huge visitors center with about 30 of the large buses parked in their lot. My niece went through but I just couldn't do it. I wanted to remember it as it was.

Yes Shirl, one strawberry qualifies you for the powerful award! My one tomato is still green.

It is very humid here too. I just walked out to the barn and my hair is wet. There is rain just to the East and it looks like it's headed this way. It has made it to July without Louisiana having a hurricane and nothing in sight yet. I need to go pick up some pills for Sugar at the vet but I have managed to fool around all morning so now have to wait until after lunch. I could tell she wasn't feeling good Sunday and yesterday. Yesterday she wanted to lay out on the porch all day and it was hot. She probably ate something at the lake that made her sick. I wish she wouldn't eat everything she finds outside. If she gets to something before I do I can't get it away from her. She is back to normal this morning.

We battled ants at the lake all weekend and when I got home my sink was full of ants. When it's wet they move up on the hill. I put some Terro in the window and it looks like it is finally working this morning. Yesterday I put a bag of ant poison on the mower, mowed the hill and put out ant poison. The ant hills are easier to see from the mower. I will pickup more poison when I go to town.

Good morning to all. it 11:00 here and well over 100. I think yesterday was the last under 100 day for the summer. It was ONLY 99. At least humidity has dropped to low teens. That helps a lot, especially if you can find some shade. Bill had to go in for blood work this morning and the waiting room was full. I went outside and found some shade from a tree and it was comfortable to stay there. In two weeks he has his CAT scan and by the end of that week we should know what is going on. After he finished we went to a shoe store as my tennis shoes I've been using walking are very, very old. So got some new one. Got Dr Scholls, been wearing that brand for years. Last time I bought a pair they were $35.99 Today they were $79.99 - EGAD!!
I'm sewing a wall hanging of a Christmas tree, don't know what I'll do with it but it is fun to work on. But I have to pay attention to what I'm doing. Did a lot of ripping yesterday. Got a surprise from our youngest son, the one who lives here and has a maid service. He called me early and asked if I'd like his maids to come by - silly question. But he said not to let them know who we were as they were kind of new and he wanted to know how they did. Luckily they did a really good job. So gave they a good report. The funny things is they were dusting all the picture frames and some of the pictures were of him, but a few years old, so guess they didn't recognize him.
Other than that nothing going on here. One of my walking friends says she is now going to one of the gyms and walking the indoor track, she is trying to talk me into going - my insurance might cover the cost. So might do it. I miss walking, and now I have new shoes...And I notice that since I quit walking my weight has stopped going down.
There were illegal fireworks all over the valley last night, but didn't hear about any injuries or fires thank goodness.

I finally used my popcorn popper this evening... like the brand of popcorn mom had but hate to look at the date on the bottle think that is why it was somewhat tough not typical of the brand ....
it was a mostly do nothing day.... after scriptures I picked up a book oops shouldn't have done that but it's done now... I didn't start it today just finished it today
did some sanding on the treasure box today need to decide if I want to stain the inside of the box... at this point I really don't want to but at the same time think it would look better if I did... she wants a dark stain and the treasure box is light natural wood... so I probably should stain the inside... ugh... it's hard to maneuver inside the box... :(
I would love to go to Ireland but doubt it will ever happen ... my husband's ancestors came from Ireland mine came from England and Germany so would like to go to those countries and my dad was interred in Switzerland so would like to go there...
you all have a great day

Just getting ready for bed. Cat is fed, Karma is fed. I gave myself a pedicure tonight and am just waiting for my toenails to dry before getting under the covers.

I didn't do much the first half of the day but later I started in on my proofreading lessons. I got pretty far on them until I got stuck. Each short lesson has a quiz at the end and I did really good on the ones I took. The last lesson wasn't making sense to me and I was so confused, so I quit for the day. Will try again tomorrow and see if it makes more sense then. Something about participles  :? ...

Anita, glad you are enjoying your trip! Hope the weather is cooperating.

Martha, Terro is the best thing to get rid of ants!! Has always worked very well for me. We have fire ants around here but the ones in my back yard haven't come back for quite awhile now, (the park takes care of them on a regular basis). I have also had the really teeny tiny ants that came into the house once here. I had to actually make a ramp up to the Terro container with a toothpick to make it easier for them to get to it!

I got my new printer today but haven't taken it out of the box. Will work on that tomorrow. I just hope I can figure out how to get it to work with my laptop without too much confusion and frustration! Techy things are not my strong suit.

I feel for those of you dealing with humidity! I remember those days back in MN and it was awful! Glasses steam up when you walk outside, you sweat almost instantly, and it seems to suck all the energy out of you. Not fun!

I have my doctor appointment tomorrow morning. I have my list of things to ask her about. I am sure she will not be happy that I haven't gotten around to getting my mammogram yet. I just keep forgetting to schedule it.

Next week we start our new hours from 9-6 at work. Looks like we have someone new coming in to work with us. So there will be 3 working each day with 2 of us having shorter shifts and one staying for the 9 hours with an hour lunch. Probably won't be as bad as I thought now with a 3rd person. Just saw her name on the schedule I was sent today. Maybe she is coming over from one of the other shops.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
