Thursday June 30

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday June 30

Morning All, sunny and high of 86° today. I have been waking at 6 am and it’s too early for me. I like going to bed at 11 so makes for a very long day. After 4 days brother has phone service again and that is because he saw a man working on the lines. Lineman said instead of 40 workers there are now only two for the county. I don’t think the present vaccine is covering the new variant so we need another. Hopefully Moderna and Pfizer are working on that. Wish I had something interesting to post. Coffee is ready, the bright spot of my mornings. If I have some amazing news I will be back. Anita, have fun. Be safe

Good morning, Shirl -

As you can see I sometimes prowl around in the wee hours, too. This morning I got up for a bathroom visit around 2:30. Couldn't get back to sleep and gave up at 3:30. I look forward to naps!

I asked my doctor about getting the second booster and she said to hold off for now because the shots given now are the same as original and don't cover the new variants that everyone is catching. She says medical scuttlebutt says both companies are working on a new vaccine that will cover the newer variants and they hope to have it ready by Fall. Shots using the old ingredients won't prevent us from getting the Covid variants that are going around now.

Think I'm giving up on my plants. Strawberries are crispy and no berries on them and cherry tomatoes have a few tomatoes, but practically no foliage at all. What's left is brown and crispy. Our day after day of over 100 temps always does the plants in no matter how often they get watered. Only plant still thriving well is Rosemary. She seems to love the heat.

Morning Shirl, Evie and all. Sitting here telling myself I should be getting into the shower and also washing my hair and get my day going, but I’m still sitting here  Going to be kind of a laid-back day is my supposed to be a little warm and humid today. Into the 80s I think.

In regards to the vaccines for Covid, I read somewhere that getting additional boosters at this point I will not do any good because our bodies only build up so much immunity, and anything after that will that work. So I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. And yes, it was said that even if we get vaccinated, it does not mean that we would not catch Covid. These vaccines are not sterilizing vaccines like the ones we got for Pouliot and I didn’t is it is that we have pretty much eradicated. If you are vaccinated and you do get, you usually wind up with a milder case. And the people who have been vaccinated and wind up passing away anyway, may have had some underlying condition that they were not aware of I neither are we. We don’t always know their story. I agree with Karen and that it’s going to be something we are just going to have to live with and maybe someday down the line they will find a cure.

Tooth is feeling much much better, just have to remind myself not to eat on that side because I just have a temporary filling in that tooth.

Got the front entrance all decorated for the Fourth of July and put out my decorations to yesterday. Glad that I put those little flags in the ground good because it’s supposed to get pretty windy today.

Just saw on Facebook this morning that Calumet Michigan which is way up in Keweenaw Peninsula, the finger that juts out into Lake Superior, from the UpperPeninsula has the top snowfall total for the entire country this past winter.

Once I take my shower I get my hair washed and dried I am heading into town this morning to pick up a few things from the store and also the stain to do my fence posts, as that is going to be my project for this weekend. Want to do my errands today before things start getting really busy in town. With the holiday weekend coming everybody and your brother will be heading up north. This weekend starts the peak of the summer vacation season.

So I’m going to get moving here. Hope you all have a wonderful day today.

Hi early birds,

It's pretty usual for me to wake up super early & not be able to go back to sleep too. Not fun - I use the Fitbit to see how much sleep I've gotten to see if I have to keep trying to sleep some more. Not always successful though.

I got the same advice on waiting for the next covid booster from my dr. She said if you're in good health, it's fine to wait.

Root canals have never bothered me. There is a group in Kansas City who are incredibly good. They hum while they work, are always cheerful & super quick. No pain at all - you're in & out in a flash. Guess I've been spoiled.

Took Jordi to a little regional zoo yesterday. He loved petting & brushing the goats. Fell asleep in the car 2 minutes from my place on the way back. Shortly after I finally got him back asleep for his nap, his mom texted me that she was on the way (early) to get him so I had to wake him up - NOT FUN - you don't wake this little monster. Today's my final day with him for a while. I'll probably have Olivia off & on - as much as a special day for me as for her.

Made a crustless quiche this morning - timer just went off so it's breakfast time.
Hope you all have a great day.

I just saw this on FB and I thought it might give us a bit of a giggle. Does my one lonely tomato count? :) Shirl I hope it gives you a smile if not a whole giggle.

I got a booster in May on the recommendation of my doctor and according to estimates, the next booster/shot that hopefully will include the variants will come out in the fall. So I think that will work out well being 4-5 months since the May booster. I feel better about going into the summer having gotten another booster.

Barbara please read private message re Facebook.

Had to wake myself, son and both cats early to be at vet at 8:10 this morning. I'm not a morning person, for sure. As usual Stormy lives up to her name and throws a day long fit about the nerve of me taking her to that scary place! She has arthritis pain and a over active nervouse system and has had since she was a baby so will try gabapentin along with her CBD. Mandy as always is miss mellow. At nearly 17.5 years, they are stable and mostly happy for now.
I'm tired so will likely nap here with Mandy.
Temps have moderated down just below 100. Yay! And even as low as an unheard of 89 for 4th!
Have a good day.

Good morning ladies
Was up at 2:30, back to bed at 4:30 and got up at 7. Feel like I slept in . Found a home for Patrick's brother, went and picked him up yesterday morning. Spent a couple hours here at home and Patrick wanted so bad to play but Bear was having no part of it. He growled at Patrick. Very much a little lap dog and very kissy and lovey but I'm glad I only had to spend a couple hours until time to make delivery. He has been adopted by one of the girls at Patrick's groomers. He will have a good home and they all loved on him and argued who was going to keep him. Feels good to do a good thing.
Got my drippers fixed on my hibiscus and certainly hope missing a day of water didn't kill it. The heat is so brutal here in the summer. At least my banana tree is still growing.
We've had a little rain and a few dust storms recently but nothing to get too excited about. Patrick and I remain indoors and watch TV and think about the day we can do a road trip.
Glad to see Judy safely back home.
Ya'll have a great day.

up at my normal time I have to shake my head at when you all are getting up as I have yet to go to bed....
a habit that I need to break it has been a me time forever just keeps getting later in the morning before I go to sleep....used to be 1 now it's 3 or later and I feel like I have to get up at 10 to get mom breakfast...
after reading scriptures some fb time and reading a couple chapters... I went to the nursery and replaced my plant that died due to the cold while I was in Utah and of course saw something else that I thought that over filled planter needed  and an air plant I haven't been able to find a place for them here sorry to say I found a place... then on to the store first time in awhile I've worn a mask but the numbers have been creeping up again and I saw more wearing masks than I have for a few months... when the town took the mask required away... even the checkers were wearing them not all but quite a few... got brats and some deli salads... cooked the brats in the air fryer... was so good...
tomorrow I guess that I will plant a couple of plants and tie knots.... I need to get a different type of sanding paper as this block that I have is too big to get into some of the corners... I want to finish it so that I can send it back with dd when she comes up the next time... I guess perhaps the plan is that when the contractors finish what they can do they will come up and put some of the stuff back as they have heard it's a 8 week out for the flooring tenant (sil's x wife) can't be expected to stay out of the condo that long... she is staying with a friend at this time...
hard to believe that tomorrow is July 1 wow don't forget Rabbits
it's hard to remember to do when someone else in house... and I'm out here watching the movie till midnight... and one has to say goodnight
you all have a great day

Sugar always wants to be outside when it's raining. It started thundering about 5:00 this morning and she wanted out. I tried to go back to sleep but she kept wanting in and out. I went to Lafayette to eat lunch with some camping friends. We went to a pizza place and my pizza was very good. I went to one of the Walmarts in Lafayette. They had very little beef but plenty of pork and chicken. I needed to go to the Walmart in Abbeville but had to come see about Sugar. I should have stayed home and got ready to go camping tomorrow. I needed to get a fishing license but they weren't selling them until July 1. They have changed the way they sell licenses and we should have been able to buy a license all month but of course the system wasn't working. The state parks quit using Reserve America and have their own system. Of course it is messed up too. I wouldn't bet that I'll be able to buy a fishing license tomorrow.

There is an area in the gulf they are watching but it's too close to land to develop. Texas and Louisiana are suppose to get a lot of rain. The campground is about mid state on the Texas side so hopefully we won't get too much rain.

I should be sleepy but since I need to go to bed so I can get up in the morning I'm not.

"RABBITS!"
I remembered! Yay!

Another lazy day just watching You Tube videos. Was watching TV tonight and then started hearing fireworks going off! Then I remembered that the casino across from me was doing them tonight instead of on the 4th. So I went out and sat in my driveway and watched them. Not too bad, but I have seen better.
It was still really hot out when I was out there! It was really windy too, but just blowing around the hot air. The lawn sprinklers came on while I was sitting there and the wind was blowing the mist towards me which felt good!

I think I might need to get a better filter for my aquarium. Doesn't seem to be very strong and not doing a very good job. With the aquarium kits, they usually just put the cheapest stuff in with it. Will have to do some research on that to see what would work better. I need to do a water change tomorrow too. I haven't been able to find the neon tetras anywhere that I want to add. They are very common fish so am not sure why no one around here carries them.

Martha, have fun camping this weekend. Hope it doesn't rain and you get to go fishing.

Ava, for a second, I thought you had decided to keep Patrick's sibling! Sounds like they wouldn't be buddies anyways.

BJ, that is a funny meme! So true! For me, growing anything is a huge accomplishment! I got a kit at the pet store to grow dandelions (supposed to be for lizards) and I couldn't even get those to grow! I miss dandelions and thought it would be fun to have some here. Guess that won't be happening...

Not sure I will keep the bedding set I ordered. The material isn't very soft; kind of rough and stiff. Not comfy for a bed. Ordered it from Walmart so will probably just bring it with me to work and return it then. It is a little darker than I thought it would be too.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
