Warmer Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Warmer Monday

Postby JudyJB » Mon Jun 20, 2022 4:15 am

Waiting for the ferry to leave Orkney. If you have some Norwegian blood from these islands, try going back to see what last names they had.

Trains are going on strike in UK on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I changed a hotel and rescheduled my Saturday train from York to London to Friday to make sure I got there. (Going to drop car off in York on Friday morning instead of Saturday). Now I need to get one more day in London on Friday. My hotel is full but I expect there will be cancellations. Not a fun time to rely on trains. Now all i need to worry about is getting to Heathrow on Tuesday the 28th!! Hope things will be “sorted” as they say by then!! Also hope flight is not cancelled.

Also, it is only 10:15 am, here not 4:15am. You know I would NEVER schedule anything for that early!!!

Pictures from our campout. Sitting in the creek eating jello shots. It was so hot. I grossly under estimated the amount of water to bring. I think I took about 8 bottles and had to go to the dollar store and get a case. Sugar and I almost drank the whole case. Coming home yesterday it was 97. The thermometer at home said the high was 102. We had a great time. I think there were around 45 there. It was hard to keep up with everyone. This campground has 2 areas that aren't very close together so women kept coming and going.

Shirl, I laughed at your comment about wearing out the mute button. I use mine a lot too. I am usually on the computer when I'm watching TV so I forget to turn the sound back on and miss half the show.

Judy, hope the train strike doesn't cause you a problem.

Good Morning All, Martha, loved the pictures of your camp out. Ava, great surprise seeing your post! Please keep doing so.
The newest JA Jance book was excellent. JP Beaumont is 74 years old and has had a couple knee replacements. Another author I like, no one mentioned is Harlan Coben. Good endings and usually a surprise.
I, too, liked the Hallmark Series. I was hooked on Chesapeake Shores. After season 5 ended, that was supposed to be the end. However, I have read there will be a season 6. Haven’t seen any evidence of that yet. Hope it will happen.
Had a very nice family party on Saturday.
Received a message from my doctors office…she wants to see me. Haven’t been in for ages. Will go tomorrow. I am not fond of going to the doctor. I am doing well and see no need of a visit. However, I do like her, and she mostly leaves me alone.

Good morning, it's actually cooler in AZ this morning. Nice at 71 degrees, I was able to do a little outside weeding and fix the cinder blocks around the big cactus out front. One corner was a tad whacked out when I bumped it with my tire.
So that chore is done and since I don't have the stamina I used to, it's time for a break. Patrick was enjoying the fresh air on the deck. It's his poo and poddy place cause I can't let him run the back yard as he picks up the pebbles and chews on them. They are so small he could swallow them. He also likes to lick up the ants which includes dirt. This puts me in panick mode because Maggie died from something that caused an intestinal bleed.
Anyway, we had a great morning and a welcome break from the brutal heat. Y'all have a great day.

Lyn, I wish I had a doctor that wanted to see me. As soon as I got on medicare the only doctor that gives me an annual appointment is my eye doctor.

Ava, it's good to see you posting again. Sorry to hear you lost Maggie. Your new pup looks like a teddy bear. My dog doesn't want to eat her food but will eat every thing she finds in the yard. She found something on the side of the road at the campground and ate it before I could stop her.

Alice, Patrick is darling! Is he a Bushon? Or Bishon. How old and what does he weigh? He will never replace Maggie, but in his own right you will grow to love him as much. I wish I could find a little dog like that.
I need one that I could train to go on potty papers.
Again, so good to see your post. Lyn

Good morning. Kind of cloudy out right now but supposed to warm up to 74. I have some housekeeping chores to do then will head outside to water everything. Then will work on my drip system. Salmon for dinner tonight. I need to go to the store but maybe tomorrow.

I will have to get J A Jances latest book. Thanks Lyn for letting me know. I havent read any Harlan Coben books, will check those out. Martha looks like a super fun campout, always kind of irritating tho when the weather doesnt cooperate. Judys vacation is winding down but think she had a great time.

Afternoon All, another gorgeous day. Judy, I’m concerned about your air travel too. I searched, surnames on Orkney Island but didn’t see anything familiar. Guess I’m not a Viking. Lol Martha, loved your pictures, miss campfires. Never had a Jell-O shot. Hummm. Welcome back Ava, was that precious white fur ball Patrick? Have another garden project but need to drive to daughters to swipe a couple handfuls of her new mulch. Forgot today was a holiday and no mail so two birthday cards will be late. Darn. No other plans and still don’t feel like cooking. That’s strange. Be safe

I slept in this morning, so need to hustle to get going to Curves. It's going to be 90's today and 100's most of rest of week! Summer is here! Very dry here, so not as brutal as those of you in humid places experience. I'm still using thus 2010 IPad One for this group, so I don't have to search for our group, however, it won't bring up photos of Alice's cute pup, so will sign in on newer device. I just almost never use my laptop! Sitting in cool water looks very nice! If I happen to read a novel, more than likely it's a quick romance. I spend most reading time on health related books, and evening watching tv with son.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning - at least for a few more minutes.

Judy, I hope your travels run smoothly with these hiccups! Martha, love the photos - I've never had a jello shot. Lyn, Jance's latest book is next for me. Glad you liked it. Alice, so good to see you here and what a cute pup! That's more my style - people here have such big dogs! Shirl, I'll revisit your gardening topic when I return next month to give me ideas.

I think we are finally getting some summer weather! Monica invited me over to sit on the deck by the river this afternoon. I started packing yesterday. Forecast for the 2 days in Iceland looking better and 60s in Ireland. Only taking a carry on and my backpack which is fairly large.

Welcome back Alice!!!

Late afternoon for me. It was a driving day today and I'm now in Vermont. Weather has been cool here in New England but I'll take it over the sweltering heat others have been having. Not sure what I'll find to do around here but will try again for a mobile tech to replace the blown check valve. It also affected how the pump is running (way too often). I'm getting to lazy for campground showers but if I have to, I will.

Have a good evening ladies.

OK, I am sitting with a lemon cheesecake on my lap, as I try to recover from the rail strike, which has not even begun. (The whole cheesecake was same price as two pieces, so I got whole thing. This hotel room has a refrigerator, so I promise not to eat all of it tonight.)

Strike is supposed to be Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and I was planning to return car in York on Saturday, and take train to London. So without a penalty, I changed York hotel reservation to one day earlier so I can drop car off on Friday and hopefully get to London that day while trains are supposedly running. So, car problem and train to London problems are solved.

I still need a hotel for Friday in London, but many are booked. I am going to call the hotel I have for Saturday through Tuesday morning and ask if they have any cancellations. Will do that in morning. Government is telling people not to travel, but like what am I supposed to do???

Then it occurred to me that the following week, my plane leaves Heathrow at 9:00 am and the subway might not be working if this strike lasts that long. SO, I made two reservations at hotels next to Heathrow for the day before my plane leaves. Both can be cancelled until noon that day. (I need to cancel the more expensive one--cheaper one is on bus route one mile from airport.) I cannot cancel my hotel for that same night in London, but better pay for extra hotel and make sure I get to airport than miss my plane, right????

Whew!!!

It's good to see so many post. I'm glad there are so many readers on here,I wrote down all the book recommendations.
So happy to see you back Ava. Your puppy is really a cutie! I'm sorry to hear about Maggie, so sad.

Judy I'm crossing my fingers for you that all your travel arrangements will work out with no delays. Martha the group you travel with always looks like they are having fun. Chillin' with Jello shots in the creek!

Guess there was some excitement in our town last night. I feel bad for those who were hurt but it sounds like an episode of the Keystone cops. This is what someone wrote about the incidence on FB. I bet it doesn't make the newspaper. "Around 2 AM Sunday near Pinewood drive police were chasing someone, when one officer went on foot,(he) then was hit by a police car, then that police (car)was hit in the rear by another police car. EMT came for injured officer. Hope he is ok, then one car had a small fire and fire department had to come, then they had to tow one car. Seems only city departments not called out was trash collection and water. I find it interesting that I cannot find anything in the paper or TV about this. I guess it is so embarrassing they are keeping it quite. Seems that they did arrest one person" :o :D I added a couple of words for clarification.

I worked today and it was busy! Did 13 haircuts. When my co-worker was on lunch break, a woman came in with 5 little kids all needing haircuts! :o I had to ask my co-worker to come back to work to help me out. I sent him back to lunch after we got done with that group! I didn't get lunch until 3pm. My co-worker got a guy who went into a crazy political tirade thru his whole haircut. Glad I didn't get him! I hid in the break room instead!

So I am tired tonight. Will go to bed early. Have the next 5 days off. Lots of housework to get caught up on and then more organizing of gourd stuff.

I remember when I was in Keystone SD, sitting in chairs in the creek with Linda on a hot day. No jell-o shots tho! :(

Same ol' stinkin' hot here but that is normal for us. At least no major wind events right now.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
