Where is everybody?? I know it is at least five hours earlier than my time, so wake up!! And need reports on the couple of you who are sick.
Sun poked its head out this morning, but then it started raining, and then the sun again. Crazy weather. And after about 1 pm, the wind picked up to 35-41 MPH while I was on my way to see the Stones of Stenness. I did not stay long because even the sheep in the field were laying down to get out of the wind. BBC calls this a gentle breeze, but I had trouble even standing up! And tomorrow, winds are expected to be in 30s, but gusting to 50 MPH, so I am going to the museum in Kirkwall.
Had a lot of trouble finding food last night because i did not realize you needed a reservation almost everywhere, so I had lunch today at a really nice little bakery cafe in Stromness. Really nice bread and good sandwich, so when I saw them bring out huge crab salad sandwiches for their takeout case, I grabbed one for dinner. Also stopped at the grocery store to pick up some fruit and snacks, so I can at least pretend to eat a healthy meal. Amazingly, this B&B's owner has an ice maker in her refrigerator, so she offered me ice last night, I took advantage of it. Made some strong tea and let it cool overnight and then added sugar and lemon today, and got another bag of ice from her so I could have my beloved iced tea!!
Oh, and I have a room near Stromness, which is the major ferry port, but on a hill. I have two windows in my room on the second floor, and from the big one, I can sit in bed and watch the ferries come in and out, and have a terrific view of the town and the mountains in the distance.
By the way, the Brits and Scots call every motorhome a Winnebago. The ones I talked to did not know that there were other brands!
