Guess I will make an evening check in today. Has been a beautiful day but still warm, about 85° I think. But the humidity and dewpoint are gone from yesterday. We had a high here about 91° yesterday and then that line of severe storms was moving in last night.By the time it got over this way the temperature had dropped down to 79°. It seemed like the brunt of the storms we’re going into the U.P. We did have a thunderstorm about 2 AM this morning, but it didn’t amount to anything other than just thunder and lightning and very little rain.. I kept my phone by my bed last night in case a code red alert came through. Our county has a special emergency alert system for the county that will sound our phones off if there is an emergency of some kind that we need to be alerted to. We all have emergency alerts automatically on cell phones, but this is a bit different in that it is strictly for this county only and gives more information than what the other emergency alerts do. Some people have questioned as to why Gaylord does not have tornado sirens, but the problem is, tornados are so rare here, people do not know what a tornado siren is or what it is for because we’ve never had to use one. And also because of the rural nature of the area outside Gaylord, they would not do any good for people who are outside the city limits like myself living down here and this part of the county. So the code red system was put into effect. Course if somebody isn’t registered, that’s gonna be their tough luck. Needless to say, there were a lot of very scared and nervous people and kids in town last night with this front approaching. People are still psyched out from the tornado and it’s going to take a while for nerves to calm down and some may never. Has been barely a month since the tornado struck.
O’Sharon, the weather you are having today is what we had yesterday and like you I didn’t do anything outside either. It was just too hot and muggy. So today I took a drive down to Houghton Lake and went to a craft store down there to get some craft paint, since we lost Hobby lobby for a while. Been wanting to go down to my favorite restaurant down there anyway. so I did that you and then took a nice leisurely drive home. Going to take the dogs for an evening walk here in just a few minutes. It has been extremely windy here today. The winds have been guessing 40 miles an hour, sometimes a bit more. I Needless to say the trees have been really swaying and small limbs andbranches coming down. Tomorrow we are only going to be in the mid 60s. Fine by me
Time to take the puppies for a hike. Have a nice evening all.
