Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday June 13

Morning All, had a morning shower and storms predicted for late this evening. Temps have been in 80’s and very humid. Have an appointment with new doctor this afternoon. Filled out 18 pages of info for this practice which is ridiculous. Read that Fanny packs are making a comeback so ordered one from Amazon with several compartments. Will carry cell, credit cards, cash, etc and will fit in the polka dot tote. The tote carry’s necessities Kleenex, mask, apartment keys, etc. The Tote is my always ready go bag and the Fanny pack is go in the store bag. Life has gotten so complicated. Lol Shelia glad you are getting a break. Balcony garden is growing. Juliet has a few little green tomatoes. I have a small watermelon to cut up and refrigerate. Plenty of broccoli salad so will air fry some chicken strips for dinner. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all. 51° here, supposed to be partly cloudy and in 70’s with rain later tonight. Then headed into 85-90 debrees a humid range for 3 days, before going back to normal 70’s.

Shirl, this is my answer to a funny pack. I live it cause it can carry every thing you described, but I wear it around my waste, under my tops, so nobody even notices I have it on. I have had one for the past couple of years but I’m going to order another one. https://fusionbelts.com/
Talking about power packs for charging phones etc. in event of power outage or whatver, I knew they were around, but didn’t know anything about them, so stsrted doing some research. Did find out that those packs operate on mAPH (amperage per hour) and so do our phones. Recommendations are to get a pack that has a higher mAPH than our phones. So had to go look up what my phones was. Then asked neighbors whose house I watch about them, as he is like Karen, very technology oriented. Result was this surprise birthday present from them. This thing is capable of charging 3 devices at once and is good for at least 10 charges. I probably won’t do three at once, but it’s nice to have that ability.

Pat, thanks for the laugh about the rabbits. I have neighbors who have same issues, so They put chicken wire around their plants. Should tell them about your concoction, but maybe they wouldn’t want to have to respray after their daily waterings.

Still working on those crazy fence peepers. Spent past three afternoons just cutting out parts. Have to make some extra spacers to fit between the face and back panel due to width of my fence. Normally one or two would fit most rails or fences, but I have a 5 inch log rail. I am making two extras for friends, but they don’t need as many spacers. But everything is now cut out and I have primer On one side of mine. I plan to do other side today and then I can bring them in the house eventually and start to paint them. But first I have to do a little sanding work. I’m going to do mine first before I do the other two, so I can see how the whole thing fits together. . Also planning to mow my grass and the sub entrance area today. Been just kind of letting it go with the gas prices so high plus it’s making the grass thicken a little bit too with the recent rains. So guess I had better get moving here. Want to run the vac before I head outside and still in Jammie’s  Have a nice dsy all.

Good morning!
This is my first official day without grand-baby duty!
Jordi is now in full-time preschool/daycare. They said he walked right in & started to play with the toy cars - didn't even tell them goodbye. Of course, he's been going there 3 days a week but was at my place all last week so we weren't sure how easily he'd go back.

Now, I need to find something to fill my time. I have a lot of work around the condo, trying to sort things out & re-org or get rid of stuff I haven't used since I moved out here nearly 7 years ago. But that's not much fun so I procrastinate.... after all, I have the whole summer before I start French classes again. Will try one room or closet at a time & see how it goes. Wish I had Sue's initiative & energy - I'd have it all done inside a week or two!

Speaking of fanny-packs & sorting thru things, I came across a Jansport little carry-all type bag that I've had for years but never used much. It is now my constant companion. It can carry my phone, my little coin purse (which holds my driver's license, cash & a couple of credit/debit cards), face mask, keys. & any other small things I want to carry with me. Easy to carry on walks around the block in case I want to buy anything at the stores, perfect strap length to hold onto making me feel like it's really secure. This is why I have trouble getting rid of stuff I haven't used for a while. I'm loving this little thing.

Well, guess I'd better find something to attack today...
Take care,
Catherine

Cloudy and rainy this morning but I see the sun is out now. Took Emma for her much needed grooming appt. Decided to schedule her next visit for August as I always forget and then when she needs it badly it is a 2=3 week wait. So I am on it right now. Went to Walmart and they really had nothing that I wanted. So bought some eggs, tomatoes, sweet and sour sauce for my spring rolls, and a belt to hold up my jeans. I have lost quite a bit of weight and I am hoping I dont gain it back BUT cheaper to buy a belt than new jeans all the time. Been trying to just eat small portions and make good choices. Salad plate holds my meal, makes me think I have alot. Then went and picked up Emma, nice sweet smelling dog. Stopped at Jimmy Johns for a sandwich, my first time there. Might be my last, it was just okay, reminded me of Subway. Dang I am so spoiled with Jersey Mikes. I just ate half of it and that was plenty, can eat the other half later.

I'm afraid to look at the weather, they were talking about 110 heat index. I didn't sleep much last night worrying the power might go out and all sorts of other crazy things you can make up during the night.
My Emma also went to the groomer today. She jumped on the table but the woman who trains her said Emma sobbed for 10 minutes then wagged her tail a little and then was good even when her toenails were dremeled. She has trained and had dogs for at least 40 years and she said she had never heard a dog actually sound as though it was sobbing. Something happened where she had been going but we haven't been able to find out what. We were taking her and picking her up and the last time she went Michael said she was muzzled. I called the groomer when he told me and she said the first time she groomed her she viciously tried to bite her when she started on her nails so she always had muzzled her. I asked why she hadn't told us and she swore she did. Nope I would definitely have remembered. So now the trainer is taking her to her groomer and she always sits and waits for them.
Catherine time really flies, I remember when you were making plans to move to CA. I hope you are more motivated than I am to sort and toss! Sue great idea to have the phone power pack chargers.

I think I will try for a nap!

It was getting warmer when I was leaving North Yorkshire, but now that I am up farther north in Scotland, it is colder. And being near the ocean on the Isle of Skye, it is not only colder but really, really windy, especially on the coast. I took a drive around the northeast part of the island today, and saw a couple struggling with electric bikes. Most of the road today was a single-track, meaning it is only one lane wide, but with spots for you to pull over to let oncoming cars go past. The couple was riding uphill in the wind, and i felt sorry for them, but nothing i could do. Later on, at a museum of island life, I recognized them from their matching jackets and said Hi. Also, told them I thought they were crazy. They agreed and said they had rented bikes and could handle the cold but had no idea it was so windy. Anyway, by that point, they were almost to their destination and road was less steep.

I started out really not sure I wanted to do anything but stay in bed all day today, but I am glad I went out. Found a great bakery that made fantastic sandwiches to order on their incredibly fresh rolls. Yum. Will go back there tomorrow for another sandwich to take to go. Wish there were someplace I could get a Starbucks iced tea, but no such luck! I drink a lot of iced tea and really miss it.

I am not as achy from muscles today, but my knee is still sore if I walk too much. Color is closer to normal, but I am sure it will take a while. Driving was great because it is not as hard on my knee as walking.

And, no, I have not found a sweatshirt I liked. One problem is that I really want one I can zip up rather than put over my head because I have trouble with taking stuff off over my head because of my arthritic left shoulder. Its been OK wearing two layers, so I am managing.

It got up to 95 today and it's still 90 at 6:30. Sugar wants to go on a walk but she will have to wait a while. I went and mowed in Maurice. I'm glad there was a breeze or I would have cooked. I wasn't very smart, I washed my hair and went and mowed were it was dusty. Went back to town to go to the bank and pick up some pills at the vet. The bank changed their system that prints statements and evidently no one is checking addresses. The estate account didn't have a name on it and one account had my P O Box and the street address but no town. I happened to open the pill bottle I got at the vet and the pills they gave me were about 1/4 as large as the one I had been giving Sugar. I'm glad I opened the bottle while I was still in town because they gave me the wrong dose.

Did anyone see the pictures of the flooding in Yellowstone. I think they closed the park. There were pictures of street flooding in New Orleans from rain on the news. Don't think they are ready for another hurricane. Some of the women going to the next campout will be kayaking and tubing all day Saturday. If they get too much rain over there the river will be too high. I wouldn't mind kayaking for an hour but not all day.

Poor Emma. Sorry she was so scared. I have heard too many horror stories about groomers.

I need to go turn the refrigerator on in the motorhome. It will take 2 days for it to cool off in this heat.

Yes Martha right now they have closed all entrances to Yellowstone. My friend just started workcamping there 2 days ago LOL She is a retired RN and from upstate New York. She works in the gift shop so not sure if it is inside or outside the park. She let us know she was okay and most of the damage was north Yellowstone and she is on the southside. They are checking all roads for issues now before they let any traffic back in.

Well, if it isn't one thing, it's another!
My back is feeling better but I woke up with a nasty cold! Haven't had one of those in quite awhile! I did take a Covid test just in case but luckily that came out negative. Went to work but was miserable all day with sneezing and runny nose that wouldn't stop! Took Sudafed which usually works really well for me but it did nothing! Left work a little early and will just lay low for a few days. Am also taking ZiCam so am hoping that will knock this out sooner.

My new little fish, Karma, is doing zoomies around his little aquarium! Am waiting on some things I ordered from Amazon to be able to get the larger aquarium set up this week.

I guess I will get a lot of reading and writing done this week in between naps. I have my annual physical on Friday so am hoping I am feeling much better by then.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie I saw an article this morning about the rapid tests and how some are showing negative results for the first 3 days of symptoms. I was interested as I woke up with a stuffed nose and read it. I think it was weather related as it went away mid-morning. I hope you feel better soon!! https://www.theatlantic.com/health/arch ... ket-newtab

Martha you day sure could have gone better! It's a good thing you noticed the difference in Sugar's pills! Banks sure seem careless now. My first job ( back in the olden times) was as a bookkeeper in a bank, no one went home until the bank balanced to the penny and if we had sent mail out with so many errors they would have fired everyone who might have been involved! Yes groomers seem to have a lot of bad stories about them. I groomed our dogs for years but it is just too much work for me now. Emma seems fine but really tired this evening.

made it to my dd's house... to the scenic route...basically US 89 going south... saw lots of wildflowers... Bear Lake was so pretty.... Logan canyon was one of my husbands favorite drives... I was on FB and saw something in regards to Yellowstone being closed asked dd about it and she told me it was due to flooding...really too bad but it sounds like they will reopen if the roads are ok.
Karen unless your friend is in West Yellowstone (a town just to the west of Yellowstone) she will be in the park and you said something about south part.... might be Grant's village they have a big gift shop there but most of the area's do have a big gift shop... I didn't read the articles on the flooding what part of Yellowstone was it? I could go look but tired
long drive stopped in Logan have often heard that the Aggie ice cream was so good so thought that I would stop and have a cone.. took forever for the gps on phone to get me there I kept driving past it ... and so we did the turn left then right then left thing several times till I found the right street... was good but not sure about the price.... seemed excessive to me... (it is made at the Uof now I can't remember the name of it but it's a ag school and nickname is Aggie's hence the name of the ice cream)
later start than intended when I pack for a week it looks like I have for several weeks... put you know you never know what you might need and forgot the extra pillow I was going to bring... and the towel but it looks like the towels were washed so perhaps I can get one now and have it when I need it... my thought was I'd just bring one then wouldn't have to seek and find...
feel better Barbi
oh here you all are talking about heat and it may freeze tomorrow night I need to talk with niece about the plants :o
you all have a good night

Barbara, I agree and was going to say- day one of symptoms is not going to read positive on a rapid test. Day 3 or 4 of symptoms is day to test and should isolate or at least wear mask until after that day 3 or 4 test.
Not much happening here. My high school assistant backed out as his hourly regular summer job has him more busy than he thought. Guess I'll have to see what I can do alone here.
In 80's today, 90 tomorrow and 100 Wednesday, then back in 80's. Not bad for nearly mid June!
Saw footage on Yellowstone on tonight's news and it's pretty bad, big areas of road being undercut by the river and road falling in river. One house on river edge, deck was hanging out over river as its support was washed away and looked like they may well lose the house and the land it was on. What a mess. They said authorities were working on getting campers / tourists out, difficult with roads washed out and a lot of water still flowing yet from up stream, so the event not close to over.
Nothing else news worthy I can think of.
