Morning All, another cloudy stormy day. Picked up groceries yesterday and will make broccoli salad today and a couple soft crabs will be dinner. Sue, I wasn’t aware of battery chargers for cell phone, ordered one so thanks for the hint. No special plans for the day. Be safe

Good morning to all. I went out at ten to five to try to get in my three miles walk. It was already 90 out even with the sun not up. I only made it two and a quarter miles, was just too hot to continue. Oh well I tried. Going to be 110 today, but then cooling down to high 90s for a while For at least a month now it has been ten degrees above normal every day. I dread July and August if that trend continues.
Staying inside and not going any where. Too hot and gasoline is up to almost six dollars a gallon, so no need to waste any.
Been sewing a lot and Bill has been cooking. Started watching The Crown on Netflix. Pretty interesting. I would sure hate to be "a royal". Just thought I'd check in, been reading, but not commenting, nothing to say.

Good Morning! I’m twelve days late checking in, but I did say Rabbits on the first. However, I have been waging war on rabbits since. Those little buggers are eating my plants and they’re downright bold about it. I have three 24” planters in the front of the garage with 4 wave petunias in each…well HAD 4 in each. The little critters ate three of them in one night. Those plants are a good two and a half feet high. So I had to buy more and the next night they ate one. I was at the point that I was going to sit in the yard with a gun or figure something out. Found out that they don’t like hot stuff…so I cooked up a concoction of pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, tabasco sauce, Louisiana hot sauce and sriracha powder and water. Let it steep overnight, strained it and put it in a spray bottle. It was potent because my nose was running and eyes watering while I was working with it. I sprayed it on the plants and so far they haven’t touched the plants again. If they do get brave enough to eat one I’ll probably see the culprit scooting his butt across the lawn.

I’ve been bartending a little more than I care to the last couple weeks. There was a girl that moved in with a friend who was going to work several afternoons a week during the summer. Well the roommate arrangement didn’t work out and she left town. Usually afternoons are pretty slow with only a couple people that stop in. I clean and stock coolers, etc just to keep busy so time doesn’t drag. But Thursday I was bombarded. Had a party bus full of young guys celebrating a bachelor party with the groom’s favorite uncle as their DD. They had fun but were really quite well behaved. I visited with the uncle and when they left he gave me a $50 tip for putting up with them!

I read all the posts every night before I go to bed. I’m not going to make any comments to anyone today because I’ve only had one cup of coffee and I’m not firing on all cylinders yet. Translate that to I can’t remember who said what!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Well todays weather is a repeat of yesterday. Rain, rain and more rain. Our lakes and rivers are filling up so I am keeping silent LOL Going to do some housekeeping today, need to change my bed as I didnt do it the other day. Not feeling real motivated but I dont even care, as I dont have to LOL I need to take Emma to the groomers tomorrow morning and she is way overdue.

Laura stopped by on Thursday on her way down to Medford to visit her family. Just a quickie stop. She heads home today but not sure if she will just be jetting home or stop by. She will let me know. I might even go to the store today, we shall see.

Carol even 90 sounds way to hot for me, heck the 80s can do me in quickly. Pat sorry you are having issues with your roommates LOL but the hot sauce spray sounds like it is working. Shirl those soft crabs do you eat the whole thing??? Doesnt sound very appetizing to me. But then I am totally a dungeness crab kinda girl. I was back visiting and we went to Chesapeke bay and saw a sign All you can eat crab and salad. So they spread this newspaper on our table and brought out a bucket of crab. The smallest dang crabs I have ever seen. I am used to snow crab or king crab as an alternative to Dungeness. I would have starved if there hadnt been a salad bar LOL

It's partly cloudy but still 92. I went to Walmart yesterday to pick up Sugar's pills and spend the usual $100. I picked up a few things for my camping trip. I am going to bring the slaw that I took to the potluck in Texas. It comes in a kit at Walmart but will wait until Tuesday to buy some. Hope they have it then. I took the half of a pork loin out of the freezer to thaw. I needed a hole for more jello shots. I browned the pork this morning and put it in the slow cooker. Didn't get it going until 10:00 so lunch is going to be late.

I should probably load the mower and go mow in Maurice but it's too hot now. I'll see how I feel later. I wanted to pick up a 2 gallon sprayer yesterday but it wasn't on my list so forgot it.

I'm not sure how they clean soft shell crabs but I like them fried. I seldom order them because I have had some that were too fishy tasting too many times.

There must not be any bad weather in the country because the weather channel has the ice road truckers on. It looks like if they would slow the hell down and not have so many wrecks it would be cheaper.

Pat, I never would have thought about spraying plants with hot sauce. I haven't seen a rabbit around here since Hurricane Rita 16 years ago. My cats probably keep them away. I have seen rabbits at the state park near here. I haven't seen any squirrels lately either. I have never seen one of the cats catch a squirrel but they probably keep them from nesting here.

I should probably wash my sheets while I'm here to watch the washer. I keep a waterproof sheet on the other bed to keep the cats from throwing up on the covers. One of the cats threw up on the waterproof sheet so it needs washing too.

Karen, I laughed about the small crabs! A long time ago in Florida Steven and I ordered blue (?) crabs. The waitress asked if we needed help with them and we declined. Mistake! What a chore for so little!

Spent yesterday afternoon with the kids. Turned out to be a wonderful day to sit on their patio, get some sun and watch river traffic. End of the school year so some rafters with teens having a grand time. Snow runoff has the river quite high and fast. A lone deer is stuck on a little 'island' across the river.

Manhattan, Kansas area was hit with a tornado last night. The university appears to have had the most damage. Grandson lives near there and says that's the closest he's been to a tornado.

Pat, deer were my enemies when I had the house and plants.

Afternoon ladies~~~
Figured I'd check in today since I'll be driving into Massachusetts tomorrow.

I did get some reservations accomplished this week through the end of October into Texas so I can make my yearly appearance, mostly for the truck inspection and since I missed it last year with being in Illinois over the winter.

Besides lunch with Peggy this week, i was able to get some sightseeing done to Samuel Clement's home (Mark Twain), 3 stops around New Haven, Old Mystic historical seaport and William Gillette's Castle. Just hanging with Punk now watching geese on the pond. Rain expected tonight just hope it's not a thunderstorm, but so far the rain predicted had dissipated.

OMG Pat! Thanks for the laugh at your rabbit solution and them scooting along if they do eat it.

That's all from me here in south central Connecticut.

Typical Sunday afternoon. Ocean traffic backed up and just sitting outside my window. All that expensive gas going up in the air. They consult their smart phones for an alternative route when they were on the only road to the bay bridge, this is an island. Can’t fix stupid. Karen, you remove the gills under the crab shell and then fry the whole crab until brown and crispy. Son keeps me supplied with fresh local seafood which I really appreciate. Like everything else seafood is very expensive.I do hope Judy is heading toward drier and warmer weather. Well back to watching traffic. Lol

Yep, shell, fins and claws. Every last bit,

When a blue crab outgrows it’s shell, they shed it. They are caught before their new shell hardens thus a soft crab. Guess you have to grow up eating blue crabs. Lol

No drier weather for me! In fact, the last two days have been even rainier, if that if possible, but I am on the Isle of Skye and finished updating my blog.

Tina may have seen this, but how many of the rest of you have seen a square toilet? ANd does anyone have any idea what the advantages to this design might be???

Judy, I doubt that design was popular. Did you ever get a sweatshirt or something?
