Great weather for working outside. But we do need rain. I have everything planted that I am going to do for this summer so now I am working on the usual maintenance stuff like weed whipping, a bit of de debris blowing as trees are dropping seeds all over. Started taking some wood pallets apart yesterday as I am going to use them for a project. Ran a couple errands in town and visited with a couple neighbors. . Otberwise it’s pretty much the same old. We have a household hazardous waste day tomorrow, so I have a few things to round up for that and my cousin is going to be bringing over some things too. Some of the townships are also having a cleanup day, so she is going to be taking some stuff out to the waste disposal facility for that. The hazardous waste goes to a different area so we are going into different directions.
Gaylord is moving right along with rebuilding. Panera Bread and Culvers have reopened, Goodwill has cleared the debris from their parking lot and I expect them to start tearing down the building or part of it before long. I’m sure that Five Guys Burgers and Great Clips will be reopening soon as they can get windows replaced and cleaned up. Hobby Lobby will be coming back, but they are looking at a year time frame. The merchandise that was inside the building has been sold to a third-party and they are now in the process of removing what they can get out of there. The building is leased, as it is part of a Plaza and it is the responsibility of the owners of the plaza to rebuild the building, unless Hobby Lobby’s lease says otherwise or decides to relocate elsewhere. The building has been determined to be unstable and therefore is going to have to be totally torn down. Other two businesses that were attached to Hobby lobby that were destroyed, will probably have an option to move into a couple vacant buildings within that plaza that can accommodate smaller stores.
Headed to the residential area, I have not been around there since last weekend. Usually on Sunday after church I take a drive through to see what has gone on over the past week. If you wanna know the story, I found out yesterday that a lady I know in town was in her house when the tornado warning was issued. She also belongs to my church. She is 94 and she uses a walker to get around so she does not get out much anymore. She was not physically able to go into her basement so all she could do was go into a hallway in the house. Her house was in the direct path of the tornado. However, as it came through it veered left of her house, knocked the neighbors house next door off it’s foundation and destroyed the house next to it, leaving her with a broken garage window, a damaged garage door and some roof vents along the rook peak torn off
She’s fine. The homes are about or less than 50 feet apart. The Guardian Angels definitely had a busy day. The mobile home park that was 95% destroyed is in the middle of a controversy right now. The park management is having the destroyed and damaged trailers removed and the people who were in those homes claim they were notified that this was going to be done and they were not given sufficient time to remove their personal stuff if they can find it. Some of them have been hospitalized and are still hospitalized. Looks like it may be turning into a legal battle and two TV stations up here have launched investigations into it. Plus some calls made to the State Attorney General’s office. Going to be interesting to see how it plays out. So I guess I should get up and have a little bite or something to eat and run the vacuum in the house later. Not sure what I’m going to get into today, I have a number of things I can choose from.
Gas prices have dramatically wasn’t here this week. When the tornado hit town we only had one gas station operating at our local Meijer store. At that time the gas price was at $4.55. Meyer decided to help the community out, especially with all of the volunteers who are coming in with their personal vehicles and trailers and chainsaws, emergency responders etc. and dropped their price to $4.29. When the power was restored and Walmart reopened on Monday after the tornado, they followed suit and as the week progressed the rest of the gas stations in town also came down to an average of $4.39. But all good things must come to an end and yesterday the prices were readjusted to $4.77 and later up to $4.99.
So that is the latest news from the 45th parallel. Judy, I’m glad to hear that your knee is doing better and I hope you got that crazy GPS straightened out. Martha hope that you got the AC fixed. Have a nice day and stay safe All.

They don't know where the black that was on the a/c filter could have come from. I will be camping with a BIG fan until I'm sure it's fixed. I might go to the lake a couple of days next week. My sister has been wanting to go.
