Busy Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Busy Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed May 18, 2022 8:27 am

Morning all. Cloudy and 40° Didn’t get as cold as was predicted due to cloud cover. But one area about 50 miles from here, where it was clear, reported heavy frost. Shelia, that was the reason I brought the flowers in. Frost was in the forecast. Pansies are hardy, but it easier to just bring them in, than haul out the stuff to cover them. Temps were in the 50’s yesterday with a chilly wind and just makes the dirt cold too. My other flowers, had just been planted the day before, so haven’t had a chance to spread their roots yet. Actually they are loving it in here. All the flowers are showing themselves off  They are going back outside later on as I need to take the table and my other one over to my cousin for her garage sale.

Going to clean my kitchen and bathroom this morning, put the flowers out and give them a drink, then go over to cousins. She’s the one who lost her husband about a month ago. Doing a garage sale Memorial Day weekend. So best get my act in gear, jump in thee shower and get a move on. I also have have 3 perennials to plant, but that might be tomorrow. We shall see. Picked up mulch yesterday and got that spread around two trees and the area around my flagpole where I want it. Once those flowers are planted, will spread more. Have a good day all.

It’s Wednesday

Postby Othersharon » Wed May 18, 2022 8:44 am

Morning all. Well, my week so far has been eventful. Monday when I got to the garage they were without power due to a cell that came through and apparently took out a tree on lines. That whole side of town was out. Back home I came but successfully got inspection done yesterday. After I got home I decided to get some errands run in State College since it was still wet and very windy. Finally stopped at Sam’s and picked up a few things and a couple of frozen things plus got gas to the tune of $52! When I was just outside of town and only about 3 miles from home I got rear ended. Troopers were just finishing up with an accident scene so they were right there. Yes, seatbelt was on, yes, I’m okay. So as soon as those questions were over I asked if my son was on duty which he was so he came from where he was. Medics were there and since my blood pressure was at an alarmingly high rate they wanted to transport me the the hospital per ER doctor’s recommendation. Rather then going by ambulance they agreed to let my son take me and since I was worried about the frozen food the one trooper took it to his house close by and put it in his freezer. Strange thing to worry about, I suppose. Of course when DS came in escorting me questions were raised as to why law enforcement was there! He introduced himself as my son so that cleared that up but it was kinda funny! By the time they took my pressure it was high but definitely coming down. They did a CAT scan of my head and neck and soon after I was cleared to go home. My daughter in law came and relieved son to go back to duty earlier so she brought me home. So now I’m without a car until I can get a rental and guess I will need to car shop once we know what’s happening with my car. But consensus is that it’s going to be totaled. (BP is down this morning). So think I’ll just stay home and hope the sky doesn’t fall on me the rest of the week! Hope you all have a good day!

OMG Sharon, so glad you are okay. I think they must have hit you pretty hard if you think your car will be totaled. Glad your son was able to be with you and make sure you were okay.

Not much else going on here ....yet. Haven't been up that long and still drinking my first cup of coffee.

Morning All, Sharon so glad you are ok. Glad you had help quickly. Bummer about your car and $52 worth of gas. You were checked at the hospital but are you very sore? Think staying home sounds like a good plan. Amazon said they were sorry and dehumidifier is out for delivery. Will drive to daughters to pick up. Edith sent me a recipe for 3 ingredients no cook chocolate mousse so need to shop. She was eating a cucumber and herb cream cheese sandwich which sounded good too. Lol. I’m sorry I have nothing else to do. Be safe

Sharon, glad you are ok but what a mess. I think I would want to punch someone that did that. With all the construction we have going on I hate to have to stop on the interstate where people are going 70 or more. Yesterday on the way to town traffic was slowing down because the Parish is cleaning the ditches and had one lane closed. Some idiot passed the stopped cars and had no where to go.

I put my roast in the slow cooker so got that started. Called the place where I get my hair cut and got an appointment for tomorrow. I didn't get the motorhome washed yesterday. I thought maybe I could do it this morning but by the time I get through drinking coffee and get dressed it's already hot. I don't know what I'll do today besides not clean house. There were some places I wanted to stop yesterday when I went to Lafayette but I can't be gone too long because of the dog. When it's cool I can leave her in the back yard but it's too hot to do that now.

Sharon, so glad you are ok! People drive too fast and don't pay attention anymore. It's scary.
At 0845, it was already 73° here, which is our warmest, earliest day this year, so we will get close to triple digits for first time too! Ugh! My neck was pretty sore when's woke, but I still hope to get to Curves early. Drs here are talking about how our prolonged fire/smoke season is endangering the health of everyone now. Glad I bought my little HEPA filter for living room, where we spend most time. Will likely need it as summer progresses.
With gas now $5.44 a gallon, I'll be planning no trips this year or foreseeable future. Diesel is now $6.05 ! I don't know how people can afford to eat and buy gas to commute!
Take care everyone.

Glad you are OK, Sharon, but hope insurance will cover entire cost of car. No wonder your blood pressure was high after all that!

I am still packing and repacking, but think I am finally done tweaking things. I have been nervous all week, however, about my trip and making sure things go as expected. I had upgraded myself on the plane to what they call a premium seat. It is very comparable to what is a first-class seat in a domestic plane, except maybe a little more leg room. Nice wide divider between seats and seats only two across instead of three. Better food also, and lots of free wine. It is about 20-30% higher cost than a regular economy seat and at my age, I really can't deal with being cramped for 8 hours. Got my ticket last fall so cost was reasonable way back then.

I'm experimenting with a new ISB medication, so am taking some of the old stuff just in case. Gastro doc prescribed this new stuff "off label" because he feels my ISB is due to my lack of gall bladder, so this is supposed to calm my gut, but the label says to take 3 tablets in the morning with food and 3 in evening also with food. Doc believes I can probably manage with one or two per day, so I have started with two and then will raise or lower dose, as needed.

One last doctor appointment tomorrow. Yea. I do have a dreaded colonoscopy just before Thanksgiving when I return here. Really interesting news is that instead of that horrible gallon on nasty stuff, doctor prescribed Miralax powder, 4 Ducolax tablets, and a bottle of Gatorade!!!! Not exactly sure yet how I will have to take it all, but can't be worse than that gallon jug.

Sue, those flowers look great inside. I hope they take to being outside soon for you. Sheila, that part about researching the town the book is based in can ruin a book for me. Usually I finish it, but contacting the author would make sense to me. I was reminded by Lyn's post about the Jodi Picoult book she was reading that I contacted her via email once about something in a book and within 24 hours she personally responded. I was pleasantly surprised and we continued corresponding on the subject for a few days.

Sharon, omg, I'm so glad you're ok. Just don't sign anything to that effect for awhile. I'm sure they person who hit you and their insurance will want you to. Sometimes you just don't know for sure until some time passes. I hope your insurance takes care of you on the car!

I'd love to respond to everyone, but working and forgetting too much, I know.

On another note we've hired a very part time local to help in housekeeping. She isn't interested in many hours. I'm ok with that. She'll start tomorrow and see if we can pick a couple slower days for her to work and cover for the other housekeeper this upcoming week. My regular housekeeper finally saw the doctor and is on antibiotics, missed work yesterday and today again. Nichol, the RV park manager came up both days (her days off) to help me clean rooms. I'm lucky she's here.

Sharon, that’s terrible about your car accident. The other driver must have been going very fast to hit you so hard your car is totaled. No wonder you’re B/P was elevated.
All the speeding drivers around here are what caused my nervesness.
I have a soccer game to watch this afternoon.

Incredibly idiot drivers!! A few days ago, I was making a right turn from the right turn lane of a side street onto a major road that had two lanes in each direction and one in the middle for turns. I was in my motorhome on my way home from a doctor's appointment. A car was in the left turn lane beside me while I was waiting for the light to turn green and the cars on the major road to stop.

So, the light turns green, and I start to turn right, except the car in the left turn lane suddenly accelerated and turned right in front of me, like there it was right at my left fender! I had just started to turn, so I hit my brakes and this guy zipped around me. I could not believe it. I would have hit the side of his car with the left part of my bumper! I'll bet the person who hit you was looking at a phone or at the police or something other than other cars on the road.

Ditto on not signing anything that you are fine after the accident. Sometimes you do not feel the neck muscles aching until the next day or beyond!

Sharon, glad you are OK (so far!). Too bad you spent all that money on gas you won't be able to use! :( Hope the insurance company is kind to you! My neighbor lady had a close call the other day with a truck going thru a red light and barely missing her. She got back to the park here and stopped to check her mailbox, and her legs just gave out from under her. Luckily someone was there to help her and called 911 to make sure she was OK. She thinks she was just so shaken up by the close call yet that it caused her leg weakness. I have had close calls and it sure brought up my blood pressure and made me very shaky afterward! Out here, everyone goes thru red lights so when my light turns green, I hesitate and look both ways before going ahead.

I spent all day reorganizing my porch with a friend. It is pretty much the way I want it but need to still organize some of my gourd stuff. Got rid of a lot more stuff for donation. We have some tables set up along the back wall but I want to order some different ones that I can store bins underneath. These tables have legs that are in the way of putting anything under them. I opened up the slider from the living room to the porch and then closed all the windows and
the slider to the deck. I was able to keep the temp in the porch at about 82* all day with the AC in the living room blowing in there. Considering it was 108* outside, that isn't too bad. I can work in there with my gourd stuff on hot days with a fan going and be pretty comfortable. I had the inside AC set to 77* so only a 5* difference.

Got my new phone (yes another one  ). It is the same as the first one I had that I had for several years and is user-friendly. I just need to switch over to it from my other phone. First I need to send my photos to my laptop from that one.

I don't know what I'll do today besides not clean house.

Martha, that sounds so much like me!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Beth I decided to google mining in Jackson Wy cause that was the major thing for me... lo and behold there are I think it was 32 mines no longer being worked in the valley glad I consulted with google before I made a fool of myself. but I still stand by my thought that if you are basing a book around a known place go to it get a feel of it as when you live there you try to figure out where what they are placing the action isn't fitting  that would have been fun to have a bit of communication with someone that you had read lots of ...
went to the store... got moms prescription and stuff for supper plus the bottled grapefruit sections she (we) like  because I don't got to Albertson's a lot I buy up several so it adds up between the rx and food it was over 100 sure doesn't take long...
tomorrow I need to go downstairs and do some laundry try to avoid those stairs as much as possible but occasionally it has to be done....
watered the pansy's today one was badly needed and the plants look like it... including the one not planted whether I over looked it or whether it was uprooted somehow I don't know but planted it and watered well hopefully they will look better tomorrow... Shirl when I was at the nursery I noticed that they have the bulk mulch you might check around where you live and see if they have that there..
had a surprise tonight thought I heard a car door close but no one came then all the sudden the door opened and dd was there ... she had to come over and get her work computer up graded or something so she is her for the night wish that she could stay longer but has a book club to go to tomorrow night.. said if she hadn't read the book she might have stayed but it's also the last one for the summer... but perhaps another day the issue is we compete with two just adorable grandkids she would just rather spend time with them instead of mom and grandma :? can't say that I blame her....
Sharon so glad that you were hurt... it's really easy to get side tracked but the results can be awful...
but good advise that you hold off signing anything for some time... make sure all is ok
you all have a great night

Sharon - so sorry for your accident, you had a really bad day. Hope you don't get neck or back pain. That sometimes happens days after the accident. But how great that you had so many people helping you, especially your son being nearby and that thoughtful trooper who took your frozen food home to keep for you. Too bad there wasn't a way to save the expensive gas! Hope you get through all the hassle with insurance companies, etc. without too much stress.
