Cool Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue May 17, 2022 7:59 am

Good Morning. Beautiful but cool morning here in northern MI. 45°. Karen, looks like some of your cool Weather moved over here. But it’s much welcomed after record setting temps of last week. Supposed to stay on cool side for a couple days and then back to normal 60’s. Frost possible next couple nights as temps hesd into low 30’s, upper 20’s for those of us in inland areas. I have all my flower planters sitting here in the living room on a table by the window till the night temps moderate. But we need rain here. Going all around us.

But been great weather for working outside, so been busy doing mowing and landscape work in my yard and mowing and cleaning up of the areas I maintain for Property Owners Association. Heading to town todsy to do some business at credit union and pick up some mulch for around flagpole. Once I finish front, will turn attention to back. Got some decorating projects in mind, so will be back into to the woodcraft stuff in a while :D .

Neighbors across the road are getting a whole new septic and drain field installed. Needless to say, the yard is all torn up. Just watched a truck with a huge septic tank backing in. I need to call and get mine pumped this year.

Martha, hope you get the AC fixed before next camping trip. Lyn, been enjoying your posts. Anita, belated birthday wishes. Lived the pics of your adventure. What a way to spend a birthday. Shirl, you are getting exercise moving plants around too I see.

Better get myself moving here, so I can accomplish something today. Have a great day all :)

Morning Sue and All, a pretty morning and thankfully less humid. Sue, your flowers makes me happy. Lol I have decided to ditch regrowing vegetables. It does work but I eat romaine faster than it grows. Do believe you are suppose to plant in soil which I can’t do. Anyhow was a pain changing water every couple days. Will keep a jar of spring onions going. Amazon hasn’t shipped the dehumidifier that was to be delivered today. Judy, I have your blog on my favorites so I am ready when you are. Beth, glad you have a back room. Your dealing with problems but not as labor intensive as last year. Just heard the 6’3” maintenance man laughing down the hall. I guess I’m weird but seeing flowers and hearing laughter makes me smile inside. Hope everyone has a smile today. Be safe

Good Late Morning, Another perfect weather day here today. I better stop bragging as it will soon end and I will be complaining. Sue the septic tank talk made me think of a funny story. A friend of mine from Chicago and I were driving downtown and a septic pump truck pulled along side of us. My friend had his arm hanging out the window and he exclaimed 'something wet just hit my arm'. I laughed at him and said yuck it's the honey dipper truck. I had to explain that terminology in depth and he was totally shocked and grossed out. He lived next door to me while going to college and I had to educate him to life in a small town.
Shirl hope your dehumidifier comes today. I also was wondering what you were wearing with your scrub top

Good Morning, Sue, your flowers are beautiful!!! It is cool here too. Cool in the pool doing my laps. The temperature of the water is nice, just the breeze is cool. It will be cool again today, but it is so important to my health I want to keep doing it.
The Jodi Picoult book got so good I had to continue reading it until I finished. Finches are mentioned promently in the story, however, on the cover is a picture of an orange crowned warbler! Guess only a bird watcher would care.

No cool weather in northern California! We have afternoon temps in upper 80's and into 90's some days. Fire danger growing by the day with warm drying winds. Summer weather is coming. No dehumidifier needed here as soon humidity will at times be single digits! At least my AC is good !
I've been walking on treadmill between 1.2 and 1.7 miles 3 times a week and going to Curves. Got my lawn guy to mow back again and with drying heat, probably won't have to do tat again until next year. Just working at decluttering and keeping up here.
Granddaughter in MN was in a play, but I never even got a photo! She tells me she had fun and will be in theater again next year. Maybe one day I'll get to travel again.
Have a good day.

Good afternoon ladies!

Sue, I love the flowers that you'll be putting out. The picture of the truck across the road from you & the comment BJ made, reminded me of a campground we went to a lot in MD. They didn't have sewer hookups but had a honey wagon (truck) that would pump us out when needed. On one of our visits there, I noticed our sewer hose was missing following being pumped out, so I asked the owner of the campground, who regularly did the pump outs, where he put our stinky slinky. He asked me what that was and I said the sewer hose. In all the 40+ years of being a campground owner, he had never heard the term stinky slinky. Shirl, my green onions are really taking off and the two tomato plants look good but don't have any blossoms yet. Lyn, I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I'm a picky reader and if I'm not interested in the first one or two chapters, I'll find something else to read. Velda, our weather is very similar to yours.

It's warm in central FL and in the low 90's. Day after tomorrow we're going for a picnic lunch and swim in Yankeetown on the gulf coast about 1-1/2 hours from here. Elvis made a movie there called Follow the Dream. This little area must be one of those best kept secrets because there are only a few people there each time we visit. Steve will put a large pork steak on the Egg for our dinner. I'll fix a salad as a side.

Hi ladies~~~

I'm must have missed something. Where are pics of Sue's flowers?

Made it near Allentown, PA today. 3 1/2 hour ride turned into 4 1/4 due to construction on 81 & 78. Four tunnels. No biggie except one was under construction so had to share the westbound tunnel with semis and no divider. Glad everyone paid attention lol.

Woke up a bit quesy this morning and lasted most of the drive. Think it was nerves again. Fast moving thunderstorm snuck up last night and the camper rocked a bit. Glad my slide was already in for the drive today. I'm really starting to not look forward to storms and wind. And if course, the no emergency landing place popped in my head. Sure hope it I get back to my normal.

I did like the last CG. It was pretty and quiet and of course the visit with Sharon. There, I thought I was OK. Guess not.

Not sure what kind of things I may do around here other than seeing a friend.

That's my itty bitty. Hope everyone is having a good day. And Lyn, like Dory says, "just keep swimming". ;)

I stopped at Sam's on my way to the dentist. I got my Shrimp Scampi and a package of Chuck Roasts. They almost made me late. They have one person scanning everything in your basket going out the door. It took longer to get out of the store than to pay. Renewed my membership so I can get gas again. I couldn't see the gas sign but it's $3 something. Most places are over $4. I didn't get home until 4:00 and I had only eaten half an egg for breakfast. Sugar and I share a scrambled egg. I fixed one of the bags of the shrimp so don't think I will need dinner later. I am going to cook one of the roasts in the slow cooker tomorrow and freeze the other one.

My hair is wild again. It seems like I just got it cut but looked on my calendar and it's been almost 7 weeks. When the bottom starts turning up it's time for a hair cut.

I wish I had access to a swimming pool. One of the health clubs in Lafayette has a pool but I'm not driving 30 miles to go swimming. There's a campground 30 miles to the East that has a lazy river. I might try that sometime. We have a campout scheduled there in September but that's a long way off.

Good evening gals!

Was pretty quiet again at work but the customers I did have were all very happy with their haircuts. :D I have had to fix a few that were done last time by the new guy we have. He doesn't listen very well to what they want and he works fast. He is very high strung and is always moving. When he does sit down, he rocks back and forth which makes me nervous. He is a nice guy but very busy and a little dingy!

We were told a couple weeks ago that Corporate was coming in for a salon evaluation (they do that about once or twice a year). That always makes me really nervous! Was told they would be here last Wednesday which I had off. They didn't show that day so I was nervous on Thursday thinking they would come then. They didn't. Found out that our owner told us the wrong week so it was actually for this Wednesday. Surprise! They showed up today! :o I did all the things (steps) I was supposed to do during a haircut and hopefully said all the right things. Luckily, the guy was really paying more attention to Jose doing that haircut. So I guess I will find out how things turned out when I get back on Friday. Glad that is over! Once a year of so, we get visited (unannounced) by the State Board of Cosmetology for an inspection. That one is really bad! They can fine us (a lot!) for just minor infractions. They mostly look at cleanliness and sanitation stuff.

Martha, I wish I knew of a place out here that had a lazy river! I would ride in that all day, every day!

Dave came over today to put the solar screen on my sliding screen door to my porch. I don't really get any sun there but my neighbor has hers done and it creates a lot of privacy since no one can see inside but you can see out. It looks nice too. He is coming back tomorrow so I can show him a few other things I need fixed and ask him about the deck (see below).

Am thinking of removing the carpet from my deck since it smells so bad of cat urine from all the marking. Will have to look into the ability and cost to have it tiled. Otherwise I could probably just paint it for now. Would have to see how damaged the plywood is underneath the carpet tho. :o I will also have to move the cat dishes down onto the patio to keep the cats down there from now on.

Really windy again tonight  ...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

when we were campground hosts I noticed something wrong about one of the toilets ...don't remember what it was....but the end results were they had to replace the liner in the toilet so we all put out our camp chairs and popped pop corn and watched it... it was in Sept so fewer campers and not much else to do for entertainment...
I was surprised Sue that you can't put out the pansy's but I guess 20 is very low... normal here although spring has appeared for the 2nd or 3rd time... and my pansy's got planted today!!!! we will hope that they do well... although I should have watered the one planter that they have been put in will do that tomorrow...
saw pictures someone posted on one of the Q pages that I belong to and unless I was mistaken the Iron Wood trees were blooming would love to see that some day... a pretty purplish color
for all you that live in the rattlesnake country and have pool noodles check them out before you use them... guess someone in Texas had one fall out of one and then closer examination resulted in baby snakes being in one... at least that is what was reported on Yahoo news...
been reading a series of books two of which reportedly take place in Jackson Wyo... my theory is this that if you are writing a book about a well known place and using the same name that one should research it better... :? I even want to write to her about it... but not irritating enough to not finish it...
you all have a good day
