Sunday Nay 15

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday Nay 15

Morning All, cloudy and humid. Have been experiencing very high humidity so really need to buy a dehumidifier. Thoroughly enjoyed a grill cheese sandwich last night. Think it has been years since I had one. Had salad instead of peaches since it was dinner. Lol. Steamed asparagus to add to the romaine, grape tomatoes with balsamic dressing. Will be adding that easy dinner to my list. I want to thank who everyone said you can hard-boil eggs in the air fryer. Always a dish of eggs in the fridge which I love. If I have a container of romaine it’s easy to have a Cobb salad for dinner using leftover chicken or tuna. Another stay at home day so going to go through recipes and find more easy dinners. Will make up a couple of weeks dinners so I don’t have to strain my brain deciding each day. A lot of talk about foot but not much happening in my bubble. Be safe

Mornin' Shirl and all that follow~~~
Chore day today for me, laundry and cleaning, before hitting the road again tomorrow. Heading towards Allentown, PA to visit a dear friend and ex-neighbor. Been way too long.

Keeping an eye on diesel prices and possible shortage that Love's is warning us about in the northeast. Ugh! Sure hope I can make it to Acadia and back to Indy for an August rally before I head south.

Nothing else exciting going on here. Have a great day everyone!

Posted twice yesterday and lost both, so got discouraged. Anyway, problem was very poor cell service, I think because campground was full of weekenders. I got online late last night and no problems this morning. I am getting nervous about my trip, leaving next Sunday. Need to get rid of food, some for basement refrigerator at son's house and some just dump. Then will have to take rig to storage lot and get it parked, so son will meet me there at noon to help. Site is 40' long and parallel parking at end of long row but as of now, no one else will be in row, but there is a post on the side towards the end. Then he will take me to his house to say goodbye to everyone and on to the airport. Plane leaves at 5:00 pm and goes to JFK before heading to London. Will arrive at London at 9 am, take Heathrow Express train to Paddington station and subway to hotel. I chose a hotel about half a block from the subway station, so I should be able to handle my suitcases, even if I have to go up one flight of stairs.

Mostly, I am nervous about forgetting something. I am taking a carry-on suitcase for my clothing and checking it, and what used to be a rolling backpack computer case, except I cut the straps off years ago. It is bigger than most computer backpacks, so it will hold all my meds and electronics, including my computer, plus stuff I will need on the plane. I'll be gone almost 6 weeks, so am taking 8 weeks of counted-out pills and the paper prescription things you get from pharmacy. That is two weeks more than I should need, but I am concerned about getting COVID, though UK numbers have gone down substantially in last month. Also, I have a new prescription for my irritable bowel syndrome, so taking some of the old stuff, just in case this new one does not agree with me.

I tried to pack clothing light. I am taking one pair of slightly stretchy jeans, one pair of thin cotton other long pants, one pair of just below the knee pants and two pairs of shorts in different sizes. Also four short sleeve shirts and a thin jacket. The stuff taking up space are two COVID tests, two washcloths, a ton of masks, and stuff for washing clothes and hanging them up afterwards, plus odds and ends stuffed everywhere.

Anyway, watching all the weekenders leave, so will enjoy having the place empty again!! By the way, I think a lot of people are taking Friday off because a lot of people came in on Thursday instead of Friday!!

Good Morning, Big softball tournaments ended yesterday. Today I have a soccer game to watch. Softball season not over yet. Next week begins games to see who gets to go to the World Series.
Went out on my mobility scooter for a long ride. Beautiful day here. Brings out all the sun bathers in our building.

Remember Judy....once you get past medications and important paperwork......there are credit cards and stores to pick up anything else you might have missed. I do remember wearing my raincoat onto the plane but then I also left in early October. ANd then there were the layer items. After traveling in RVs for months at a time, I didn't worry much about wearing some combination of the same clothes each day. And since I wasn't groveling in the dirt, clothes stayed clean for a long time. Have fun. Worry if you have to but save most of your energy for the problem solving actual issues that might come up.

A large chunk of today has been spent sorting through a couple of cabinets and boxes and packing many dog show items to send off with my friend who is still a 4-H dog advisor. Our dog club as gone so high tech that their raffle is held on line these days. I have two boxes of misc. leads and harnesses, an extra grooming tables, one 36 inch x-pen, one Lark sized crate, two Josef sized crates and two Jane sized crates. And yes I still have extra of all those sizes, because one never knows..... I know that I should pass on several other items but I am not ready yet. That time will come. Some of the extra equipment is because over the years I have invested in different equipment that works better for me and the dogs.

So I am taking a late lunch break and then will get back to it. everytime I clean out or shed 'stuff" from any part or era of my life, life does feel freer. And, I am getting wiser regarding holding on to something because I "might" need it. For every item I may have to replace there are at least 25 things that are out of the house forever. Nice to have breathing room.

ANd Wanda cat that took off on her walk about seems to have walked back. I saw her last night walking past a front window and about mid morning walking across the back lot in front of the pottery studio. from her lack of responses both times (she was always a talker in the house) I would say she has reverted to her wild side for now. Dennis is leaving food out for her and trying to figure if he can convince her to go into the studio for food. Once I gave Wanda to him, I have stayed out of their relationship and didn't try to build one with Wanda because He did enjoy having his cat.... Now she will have to decide if she really meant it when she told the dogs she liked them. At least the coyotes were not successful in picking her off.

Judy, it is so different when we have to pack to leave our RVs! This trip tomorrow is my first in a long time and without the RV.

Yesterday started out cloudy, but eventually we had some sun. It was an amazing day! My daughter and son-in-law gave me a river rafting tour for my 75th birthday. My grandson and his wife of 1 year were here to visit before transferring to Alaska. I had no idea how many rapids we would go through. I did the easy part and sat in the lazy person's seat. :) Other than the wet suit, I can't wait to go again next year! If my security won't let me post pictures, I'll send a couple to Beth.

I'm supposed to be cleaning and packing! :)

I got back about 2:00 and unloaded the refrigerator and dirty cloths. The air conditioning sure feels good. We had about 60 women at this campout. The theme was "Steampunk". I don't know how to describe that but I don't dress up. I walked around all day with a drink so I wouldn't get dehydrated. There was a meeting room that I could cool off in if I needed to. After the sun started going down I could get my RV down to 75 so I could stand it with the fans. Rain was predicted for Friday and Saturday but it missed the campground. Rain would probably have felt good. I can bring my RV in May 25th. I have a campout scheduled in a month so hope they can get the ac fixed by then.

Anita, I saw your pictures on Facebook. That looked like a wild ride. You sure they aren't trying to get rid of you. lol

Tina, I have way more crates and cages than a normal person would need. I need to take the ones in the living room down but about the time I put them up I have a sick cat. Hope your husband and Wanda can make up. Cats are funny. I was so worried about Frosty on my first trip that I left him in the house this time. He was in the window looking for me when I got home. He likes to be out all day and sleep in the house at night. All the cats are outside now.

I toured the SAS factory on a bus trip years ago and wore SAS shoes a lot when I was working. Then I went to Clarks. The Clarks spoiled me to the backless shoes and then I started wearing Easy Spirit backless shoes. I like the Sketchers that are suppose to have an arch support. It's not enough so I have some arch support inserts in the Sketchers too. The Sketchers are more padded than regular tennis shoes. I always buy tennis shoes a size larger so I have room for the orthotics.

I need to wash the love bugs off the camper but I doubt that's going to happen today. I think I'll start mowing. Something bit me on my leg and I have a knot the size of a half dollar that itches. Hope I'm not going to start having problems with insect bites.

Nice day here again today...79 so I turned my AC on for a bit just to cool the house down. Wanted to move the air around. Got some chores done this morning then this afternoon I took a nap, I didnt sleep real good last night, not sure why not.

Very exciting trip you had Anita. You are much braver than I am. I have turned into a wuss for sure. I used to be way more adventuresome but alas no more. You and Judy getting ready for a trip sounds like fun altho I am not flying or cruising anywhere. I will take a good old road trip tho. Actually I am just looking forward to being able to dig in my dirt, it should dry out enough this week to do some rototilling in my small garden with my small rototiller LOL Martha had fun camping and sure hope you get your AC fixed before you go again. Shirl I had to chuckle you are buying a Dehumidifier and I bought a Humidifier. I wake up and my mouth is so dry and I have a very dry cough so I am going to set this up tonight in my bedroom and see if it helps. I didnt buy a real expensive one but it got good reviews so will give it a whirl.

Just finished dinner and now going to find something on the tv. I do mostly streaming anymore as I got rid of cable and do not miss it at all.

Karen, this weather is making me crazy. Today walking from one room to another I was getting breathless. Checked weather and humidity, was high. Turned on the ac because apartment temp was 78°. Just checked weather humidity and it’s 99%. I am breathing well with ac on 75 but I am in a sweater and down throw. Lol. Dehumidifier being delivered next Tuesday I hope. Rain coming again shortly and severe T-storm tomorrow. What a roller coaster. Anita, some of my best memories are of white water rafting in Western Maryland mountains. My trips were in warm weather. Fun times.

I was hoping to see the eclipse tonight but with clouds I pretty much didn't expect it. Then for a very short period the clouds parted and I was able to see it for a bit. Then the clouds recovered the moon. I'm grateful to have seen a part of it. I joined a couple who had started a fire in our communal motel fire pit for the bit we could see. Then back home. Tomorrow I have the morning off so intend to sleep in. I have no idea if I'll decide to do anything else. Maybe a ride into Red Canyon. But I'll probably just be lazy.

Karen, it's hard for me to believe you need a humidifier. I should get mine out of my outside storage. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow morning. It's way too dry in my rig. I carry both a small humidifier and dehumidifier. And both have gotten a lot of use.

Anita, I loved seeing your pictures. And Judy I'm getting so excited for your trip. I'll be following along!

I dropped by bike off at my son's today, and he will store it in his garage. I figured it would be safer there and not attract thieves during storage. I will also have to put all meds in my insulated carrier and take it over there as well, as medication does not do well in heat, although I will leave my vents all open because they have covers on them. And finally, I will have to clean out my refrigerator and freezer. I will toss a lot of stuff, but some stuff will go into his downstairs refrigerator. Then I will have to clean out the refrigerator and prop the door open after turning it off. I will also put some bleach into my fresh water tank so it will stay clean.

I originally had an electric-only site when I returned, but I switched to one of the new full hookup sites so I will not have to deal with the very difficult water fill place at this state park. It is in a dark sort of valley, plus has a turn in it going in and out, and will be hard to navigate if I come in after dark. The full hookup site will enable me to easily fill and drain tanks in a flat and lit spot. I hate that dump and fill area even during good weather when it is daylight! They really need to replace it. I don't know how big trailers manage to navigate it.

Been a productive day! I did sleep in until almost 11am even tho I went to bed around 11pm last night! Anyways, got up and started cleaning the dust and dirt off the deck and then started vacuuming the carpet out there until my vacuum cleaner died. :( I wanted to clean off the patio and carport from all the debris that accumulated from the winds but it was so dang hot out (107* and humid! ) that I finally gave up and went inside. I hate having carpet out there because the male cats spray everything after they eat. I can clean it off most things but it gets into the carpet and really smells bad out there now. I was told when I bought this place (by the realtor) that I can't tile the porch or the deck because it would add too much weight. However, I see that most of the other decks and porches around here are tiled, so not sure why I couldn't have done that. I don't have the money to do that now. :(

I cleaned my bedroom really good, then cleaned the bathroom, then got the kitchen cleaned up too. In such a small space, things get cluttered quickly, as you all know from having RV's. I finally tossed out my tomato plants. I picked the tomatoes that were on them to see if they will ripen in the sun.

I cut up a cucumber and ate that with the Olive Garden ranch dressing. So good! I bought some strawberries yesterday from the farm stand and cut those up tonight for strawberry shortcake. I didn't make as much as I hoped since most of the strawberries on the bottom of the container were getting moldy. I cut off parts of the other strawberries that looked a little rotten too. So I got some good ones out of it. Added some sugar and they will be ready for shortcake and Reddi-whip tomorrow!

I have lost about 10 pounds in the past couple months. I was 145 and am down to 135. Would like to lose another 5 pounds or so. At least this year my shorts fit me and I don't have to get new ones like I did last year.

Back to work for 2 days and then have Wednesday off. Will try tackling the living room and porch, depending on the heat out there! I might try keeping it closed up and see if I can cool it off with the AC in the living room, at least while I am working out there.

Lola spent part of the day out on the porch. She likes the heat, must feel good on her joints, etc.

I did go out tonight to see the lunar eclipse. Saw part of it but should have gone out earlier to see the red moon beforehand. I don't have the patience to sit and wait for the whole eclipse to happen from beginning to end.

That about covers it. I should sleep good tonight.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
