Too Warm Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Too Warm Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed May 11, 2022 5:54 am

Morning all. Another warm day on tap for us. Was 84 yesterday, way above average for May here. Mid 60’s is normal for this time of year. Dewpoints are creeping up too. We are in need of rain as things are very dry and fire danger is very high. Looks like rain by weekend and cooling back to normal. Also been extremely windy. Rita, happy to see you have finally come out of the remains of Winter too.

Enjoying reading about everybody’s Mothers Dsy, gardening, weather, wedding prep, etc. My Pepper plant decided to give up the ghost. I think dirt was too cold from sitting in my guest bedroom and wasn’t drying out. Then started introducing it to outdoors and the sun did it in. The root structure is intact though, so stuck it in a smaller pot and will see if anything sprouts. But flowers are enjoying the warm weather. Gardening g season is short here, last year Weather played havoc with stuff. I plan to get more flowers, but waiting for awhile. They are still coming in to the various places. Lowes and Home Depot have been having trouble keeping their stocks going with the up and down weather. Put the carts in, put the carts out etc. And then leaving them out only to have night temps get too cold. I think that’s another reason Pepper plant was struggling, was out in the garden center when They shouldn’t have been.

Tina, your dog show campground experience reminded me of a Girl Scout encampment I was at once. Was a District wide one and there were about 500 girls tbere plus us leaders, campcrafters etc. since district only had only so many tents, it was bring what ever you wanted to camp in, so it was tents, RV’s etc. Well, the last night of the camp, we had heavy rain all night. Camp was on a high school football field and I don’t need to tell you what a football field looks like after a heavy rain. The tents got soaked, the RV’s sunk in the mud and the local tow trucks were doing good business. Was quite the mess trying to break camp, wading around in mud and water. Ah, the camping life.

Nothing much on agenda today. Too warm for physical work except Maybe this morning. Did install some cement edging along one side of my shed, now to back fill with some sand and cover that with gravel. Keeps the dirt from splashing on siding when it rains. Got an idea for decorating the wall on that side too. Need to get another wood pallet. Keeping an eye out for one. Gave inside of my truck a good spring cleaning yesterday. Needed it after the winter.

So that’s about it from my end. Just the dsy to day activities. Did ake a ride to Mackinaw on Sunday afternoon. Nice day for a road trip. Have a nice dsy everyone.

Morning Sue and All, sunny and windy. Went to pick up a few groceries yesterday as a test run. In store shopping isn’t a good option for me. Walmart has become too difficult for me to deal with so will order pickup with local Food Lion. Will have to accept higher prices and shortages. Family picking me up this evening for dinner, crab cakes in my future. Lol Pat, the bouquets are beautiful. Balcony garden is doing ok. Be safe

Good Morning, Going to be another hot one here today. I have a 1:00 appointment for a massage but for a massage I'll brave the weather. I'm debating whether to schedule my second booster or wait until fall. I asked my doctor yesterday and he said it was up to what I was comfortable with and that he had no problem if I decided to wait. But then last night I was listening to a podcast that said doctors are taught to use that type of answer so guess I will have to toss a coin :) I've just started to feel better and gain some weight back and seems like with every Covid shot I am tired for a very long time. DH is going to get his.

Shirl, I think if you watch the sales there isn't much difference in prices at Walmart and local stores. Plus for me it is worth it if it would be a little more not to go into a Walmart. I dislike grocery shopping in general but the Walmart here scares me . I think I have mentioned before that I'm not alone in that thought as most people I know go to the one in a nearby town. I also don't like how big they are, my legs don't like to be on concrete for long.

I should be in my closet rearranging and throwing out clothes I have either worn out or that are still too big.

Morning Sue, Shirl & all.

I have had fairly good luck with delivery from my local Walmart since "this whole thing began". One of my expensive and needless indulgences is that I like evaporated non-fat (canned) milk in my morning coffee. Not sure why, but I just like the way it tastes. For about the first year of "the thing" I could get this milk with my Walmart grocery delivery, then it changed to shipping only (I don't know how Walmart can ship me 12 cans of evaporated milk for $1.00/can via FedEx and still make a buck - the shipping probably costs more than the milk does).

So I had the milk shipped a time or two, about the third time all of the cans arrived majorly dented. Not an un-dented can in the lot, and the box they came in was not dented at all.

I tossed all $$12$$ cans. I don't use food cans (of any kind) that are dented. When this happened a second time (I am a slow learner, I guess) I put in for a refund (it was granted) and have never since ordered any kind of food from Walmart that needs to be "shipped".

I'm like you, Shirl, I no longer enjoy grocery shopping (although, previous to "the thing" I always enjoyed it). When I need a new stash of canned milk (and other things Walmart doesn't seem to do well, at least in my area - like fresh meat and fresh veggies) I mask up (N-95), and put on my swimmer's googles (these fit tight to my face - "the thing" is airborne, after all). When I get back my clothes immediately go into the washer, and I then head for the shower.

Well, I may look like a zombie out of a horror movie as I am strolling the aisles, but I really don't give a rat, with the grocery store always crowded full of people (no one here, and I do mean NO ONE, is masking anymore - and only a very few actually did when masking was at it's height).

I have yet to get "the thing", so I may be doing something right (. . . although I may have had a very brief, very mild case back in March of 2020) and I am doing my level best not to catch it.

I have had my second booster, and the only side effect was a slightly sore arm at the injection site. Nothing more than this.

When all this "is over" (if it ever is, at least in my lifetime) I probably will mostly stay with grocery delivery, so long as it remains available.

Good morning!

I got my 2nd booster last week. The nurse gave me the shot and asked if I was on blood thinners - no. She seemed to think a little bit of blood was not normal? My arm swelled up into a large hard know, had a low grade fever. BFF reminded me to massage arm which reduced the swelling greatly. I was 'tired' the day after but that could have been the dreary weather.

Pat, you are busy, but it's the good kind! Sheila, I hope you'll come to Leavenworth after your cruise and before mine! With picking fresh produce, I go to the store.

Another wonderful sunny day although not terribly warm. Yesterday had some fun moments. I had to go to the courthouse in Wenatchee. I hadn't thought about the metal detector. I put my keys in the basket along with my purse. Man said he would have to look in my purse - no problem. One of the deputies nearby made a remark about my not being a threat, but attendant said 'but she has a small Swiss army knife'! Deputy said 'I'm sure she's going to carve you up.' :D He kept my keys until I was ready to leave. I came back and asked for my Mickey Mouse - 2nd deputy said 'You took her Mickey Mouse'? Funny guys.

Last night my oldest niece (the new mama) and I texted about a baby gift. We explored photo albums (she's a great photographer) and baby albums. I wanted her to have what she wanted. Placed the order this morning after she changed her mind overnight. :D

Getting ready for grandson and wife this weekend plus car ready for road trip.

It is just past noon here. I have completed my swim. The sun is out, a beautiful day. I will be watching softball all day.
Getting a cat is definitely out. Going to concentrate on other things. My gardening, maybe getting a hummingbird feeder, maybe? A bird. Attempting to lose 20 lbs. To that end, I have subscribed to a new food delivery service. RealEats. I will let you know how I like it as the days go by.
I still have bouts of wanting to get out and camp. Especially in this beautiful weather.

I started to post this morning but my lull between guests for continental breakfast didn't last long enough. Short my housekeeper again today so after that's where I was. Tomorrow is a half day off for me but who knows. If she's still off that probably can't happen. Fingers crossed.

Just waiting on check-ins now and noticed it's Ty's dinner time so best take care of him. I guarantee that will bring a guest lol

Still having funky weather. Chilly mornings, cloudy, occasional rain. Oh well guess my garden will wait. This weekend is supposed to be in the 70's so think it has my name on it for playing in the dirt.

Beth you appear to be a "one woman show", they better get you some help!!!! Anne sorry to hear your plants got a bit beat up. Hopefully they can bounce back quickly. I like going to the grocery store and seeing what I am buying. Especially in the produce section. I only go every 3 to 4 weeks. Used to go more often but when Covid hit I stocked up. The only issue is the sticker shock in a month it really increases.....but hey a gals gotta eat. Thank goodness I am only buying for one, couldnt do a family on my budget.

Had an appointment with my gastroenterologist today, and will have an Echo Cardiogram stress test tomorrow. Then (YEA!) i get my stitches out of my second bone graft in my tooth. I believe that I still have the hole between my sinus and the tooth root, so I am not sure what is next. I might have to go to an ENT specialist. I suspect that what is happening is that the bone graft is going into the sinus cavity. Cannot put in an implant peg until hole is closed or it might end up there also!!! So far, no new tests or appointments scheduled for next week, but I have a couple more when I get back from the UK.

Went to my grandson's high school orchestra concert last week and tonight was his youngest sister's 6th grade band concert. The orchestra last week was fantastic and my grandson plays second violin, but I have to admit the 6th graders needed to tune their instruments up a bit. An A for effort, at least!

I like my campsite here at West Branch SP. They put in about a dozen new full hookup sites recently, and at this campground, at least, they widened the sites a couple of feet. At the one east of here, they put in the same paved patio area and the cement area around the hookups as in this campground, but they left the old narrow asphalt sites. This means when you step outside your door, you end up stepping in mud or dirt, mostly mud with all the rain and snow. I know all state parks are low on money, but they really need to update sites, including putting in some tent pads that are maybe built up a bit so tenters won't have such wet sites. I saw tenters leave after tents got swamped in last rain.

My only other complaint about the new sites is that they put in open ditches on both sides of the narrow roadways. It would be very easy to back up a trailer or motorhome into one of these ditches and require a tow truck to lift the RV up enough to pull it out. It also makes it tricky to walk around in the dark. They really need to cover these up with dirt and add drains. Much safer.

as I reflect upon the day I realize that it was a do nothing day...
fixed breakfast read scriptures as part of that listened to a pod cast but guess I was still sleepy as I fell asleep sometime during it  so went back to find a spot to start from not sure I went back far enough but so that 1.25 hour pod caste became a lot longer... oh well after words I worked on my Swedish Weave
then fixed supper... remembered that there was some tortellini in freezer so had that and strawberry salad it's so good even if I don't always follow the recipe... suppose to be made with spinach didn't have it had Romain so that is what I used and the strawberries were on there last legs so added some raspberries to it but hey the dressing was according to the recipe... I had to laugh at one of the reviews on it (I like to read the reviews ) it's one that I've used lots so regardless what some say I like it one reviewer said she didn't like it but she used frozen berries... in my mind this just isn't a salad for frozen berries... the recipe has over 2000 reviews with just a few that are low...
got my two rows on the crocheted afghan done.... I love the colors but think I put them in the wrong order... and I gave consideration to tearing out and redoing it... but after talking with granddaughter decided to continue on... with one change the border is dark green then a plum wine then off white then a heather grey then there would be one row of the dark green it got lost in the gray so put that row with the plum wine... looks lot better but still think it would be if the grey was the first three rows then the off white then the plum wine but I was just totally not wanting to tear out 8 rows... and I still would have had the green getting lost in the grey so it is was is.... I will put the row that goes between the plum wine with green... when I finish it will have Beth post a picture but that will be a couple of months
Anita hope we can... but we plan on staying a few days with a friend in WA before coming back we will have to see it won't be to late..or perhaps on the way for a quick stop
you all have a great day

I made it to Texas and back without my motorhome breaking down again. I had a good time except for no air conditioning. The first night was miserable. Monday and Tuesday wan't as bad. It cooled off some at night and I had 2 fans. I was going to come back tomorrow but decided a night with air conditioning sounded good so came home today. I'm going to my second campout tomorrow. There were 86 women at the rally. We lucked out and the weather was beautiful. It's a good thing because we didn't have a meeting room. That might be a good thing with all the germs going around. We would meet at a site by the lake and there was usually a breeze. I'm just glad there wasn't a lot of wind going and coming home. The campground is very wooded and there were only 4 TV channels but I couldn't watch anything because they kept going off and on. I like to be able to see the weather.

Pat you sure stay busy. The flowers are beautiful.

Lyn, hope your daughter is over covid.

I missed watching the Kentucky Derby and would have liked to have seen it. There use to be a big race track in Lafayette but they moved it 30 miles North and I have never been to the new one. I always thought the people at the race track were too nervous. If you were down on the lower level everyone would rush to the front for the race and then back to the windows after the race. I don't think I ever even made a bet. My aunts liked to go and I would bring them when they visited.

I was so worried about Frosty. I hadn't seen him for several days before I left but he came in tonight.

Another lazy day... . Well, there's always Friday. Just read some books and watched Youtube videos.

Was cool and windy today. I had my window on the south side open and enjoyed the breeze coming in. It will start heating up tomorrow. :(

There is a wildfire along the coast near Laguna Beach (south of LA) where I was last February to meet the gourd artist I stayed with in Arizona. As of a few hours ago, there were over a dozen homes burned. :( Lots of evacuations happening. It is a very populated area. Hopefully, they can get it under control soon. The winds were driving it quickly thru the canyons.

Still dealing with the dizziness. It is worse in the mornings but still lingers throughout the day. Can dehydration cause that?

I had grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch yesterday and today. So good!

Off to bed. Need to get up early tomorrow so I can stop for gas on the way to work. I was riding on fumes on the way home the other day. I didn't stop then because of the bad dust storm going on.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
