Tuesday May 10

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday May 10

Morning All, it’s sunny 66°predicted and high 60’s the rest of the week. Trying to place a grocery order with Walmart has frustrated me to no end. An item might be available for pickup, delivery or shipping. You don’t know which until check out. Items could ship in one day or two or three. Wouldn’t be such a problem if I could receive delivery here. Hate to admit my age is making this erratic ordering more difficult. Will think about it tomorrow. Lol. Uncovered Juliet plant yesterday and she is on her own unless we get a blizzard. Shelia a grilled cheese in the air fryer so wonderful. I have peaches too. Be safe

My only housekeeper has been sick but refused to take any days even when I demanded it. So today she texts she won't be in. Hopefully it's not going to mean too much time off. I've already started on the room that already checked out. But two rooms haven't come in for continental breakfast yet, so can't do too much yet.

And while the wind was bad yesterday, today it's going back to worse. Already at the bad stage at 9 am!

Shirl, I've been trying to place an order for shipping for the motel and lately every time I get into the cart shipping becomes unavailable for the important items. I feel your pain.

Good morning gals!

Finally able to sleep in this morning! Gotta get up soon to go do a haircut tho. I have 2 more later this afternoon for my friends Debbie and Dave. Dave made solar screens for my porch windows so the haircuts are payment for that. Need to get trash taken out and laundry started, and a little cleanup in the kitchen. That is about all that I want to do today.

What is up with the winds lately all over??? It is calm now here but the winds are supposed to get really bad again later today thru tomorrow. Luckily there aren't any wildfires that I know of right now out here. If it wasn't for the dust, I wouldn't mind the winds quite so much.

Beth, sounds like you are doing everyone's job there right now! Hope you are getting paid well for all that! :o

I might just have to make a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch today too! I like to put slices of tomatoes on them but don't have any of those right now.

Have a good day!

Minnesota has gone from cold, rainy and dreary to sunny, hot and muggy. Had a severe thunderstorm yesterday. I slept with the window open last night. Now we can start doing garden work. The humming birds and orioles are back so I will get the feeders out and filled. Last week we had flocks of warblers migrating through to their nesting grounds up north. I think spring is my favorite time of year. Not much else going on in or bubble. cleaning my desk off and filing papers after getting the taxes done. First it was our business taxes and then personal. Glad that is over. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning,

Shirl and Beth, I had to learn about the Walmart site. Below each item, at least on the site here, it shows which method of getting the item is available. I went through ordering and at the end finding I could only pickup an item - I wanted shipping only. Seldom, if ever, do orders all come on the same day, but here they at least deliver to my door - unlike Amazon coming thru USPS.

Sheila, I have been meaning to ask when exactly your cruise is and when you might come to Leavenworth! We are going on Norwegian Sept. 25. I'm taking the car to Kansas. Long trips with the Sling are probably over. Too much crazy weather and too many crazy people on the road.

I have multiple errands in Wenatchee today so best get a move on!

I made a new friend today! The cat I trapped two weeks ago to have neutered is now buddies with my neighbor and the other friendly strays she takes care of. I went over there today and Bootsy was there but was a little leary of me at first but eventually came over and once I petted him, he was all over me! I know he was someone's pet at one time because he had a collar with a bell on it when I trapped him. He is loving all the human attention now!

I am doing another TNR on Friday and hoping to finally trap either of the two that have been eluding me for the past 2 years!

I agree about crazy people on the road! Also people driving much to fast. Then pedestrians crossing the street against red lights. The homeless saunter across the street anywhere they feel like it.
I am really pissed about the cat. Wrote her again today. Sometimes I think I will move into assisted living just so she will have to come here and ready the condo for renting.
The pool felt wonderful today. I would really miss it if I moved!

What a cutie, Barbie. Anita, I've ordered this product for shipping previously. I've also picked it up. It shows shipping available until I put it in the cart now. Then the cart says it's not. Frustrating. Then they forget where I am and try to tell me a store I've never used in California is my store lol Gremlins, I say.

After cleaning the necessary rooms I drove to the post office with a vendors check, then stopped at a coffee shop that had great burritos last year. They only do those burritos till 10 or 11 so I was too late, but they was a good thing. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel and yum. Almost 1/2 is in the fridge. I don't know how well it'll reheat, but I'll figure something out. Ty and I are hanging out in the back room in the office relaxing now. I know Ty wants a walk, but dang that wind. I'll have to take him eventually.

Lyn, if you were to move you'd have to make sure there's a pool.

It's a chilly 60° here with big grey wet looking clouds rolling by, maybe a shower later, if clouds slow down long enough. Sure is nice to heat or AC on demand, because don't know day to day where temps will end up.
Had my monthly watercolor class this morning for the once a month "throwback" of a discontinued set from past.
Then Sean, the handyman stopped by- he is going to clear my bathroom sink drain and put a gasket on bottom side of the hot water handle which keeps working loose, in exchange for borrowing my cement mixer. I'm going to have to pay again to have back mowed! Just 3 weeks ago, my lawn guy and crew took it from 3-4 ft tall to looking like a nice park lawn! With showers off and on since then, I happened to look out back and it's already 12-16 inches tall AGAIN! And lawn guy is down from shoulder surgery ! So back to trying to convince Sean to make time to do it between storms. always something.
Got my morning chores done, so off to shower.
That really is a cute black n white kitty. Maybe he and Lola could become buddies?
Crazy people on road was among several reasons including rain amd cold that kept us from "visiting" the cemetery yesterday. Almost 50 miles each way on heavily trafficked interstate, along with rain and wind and Monday traffic, made it an easier decision. So, we spent Mel's 79th Birthday talking about memories and looking at photos my son put up on our big tv. The sharp edges of grief are getting softer as time goes by, thankfully.
Have a good day everyone.

We are having similar weather here Rita, it was cloudy and cool until today. Now it is 90 and humid, ugh so not ready for summer. I've also wondered about the wind, it seems as though it is the norm now rather than occasional. Beth I hope your housekeeper comes back!
I had a semi annual doctors appointment today and they couldn't do my yearly Medicare exam because the computer wouldn't bring up the questions! I was in a hurry anyway but it reminded me how dependent almost everything is now on technology. I met a couple of friends for lunch and it was so good to be with them. We hadn't been together since the Covid shut down. We ate outdoors and it was in the shade so withe the breeze we were very comfortable.
I like grilled cheese sandwiches grilled with tomatoes and a little bit of onion. I agree about the crazy, rude drivers on the road and they only have one speed and that is too fast!
Barbie you should take Boots to Lyn and do a door drop:) That way she could deny that 'she' got a cat.

Of course, I’m late for checking in…do you expect otherwise? I did remember to say Rabbits and I think it actually helped! We’ve had over three inches of rain! Two slow steady soakers and it smelled so beautiful. Amazing how things greened up in just a day.

The past week has been busy. My sister came Wednesday afternoon. Last Wednesday night Faye and I finished the bridesmaids and the bride’s bouquet for the wedding. All we have left are the arrangements for the wedding. Faye is the designer…I’m the grunt. I wire, tape and say “you need something right there”. (pictures on the bottom) We always say this is our last wedding…I think these #$%& wood flowers are going to finish us off for good. Thursday was Haddie’s 5th birthday and her preschool program. She was a tightrope walker. After her program we took her out for lunch. Friday was my sister’s birthday and she wanted to go to the casino. Sunday of course was Mother’s Day, but also Bronc’s First Communion and Haddie’s family birthday party. Yesterday I was a sloth. Branding day is next Sunday so today I made four dozen kolaches and put those in the freezer. Tomorrow morning, I have to take a load of plants to Mitchell for Missy and get home by 12:30 so I can go in for my COVID booster. Friday is making potato salad day for Sami’s graduation party. Saturday afternoon I work at the bar for a couple hours because a poker run is coming through…that’s always a mad house. Saturday and Sunday nights will be going to graduation receptions. Next Monday I plan to just be a vegetable. After two years of basically being a recluse I’m not used to so much activity.

I had hail here at my house late yesterday afternoon. Hail. In mid-May. In California's Central Valley. Go figure.

It went on for about 45 minutes, pummeling my baby tomatoes, zuchinni and cuke plants. I thought they were done for, but looking at them today they look a bit tattered, but not terribly so. I think they will survive.

My main worry was that with the hail really cooling things down (and the fact that temps had been dipping into the low 40's the last few nights already) that the hail might be followed by a freeze, which would have spelled doom for my garden.

Thankfully, temps last night hovered around the 40 mark, totally survivable for my poor little veggies.

Cold again tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed. This kind of weather is unheard of here for mid-May.

There are a lot of stone fruit orchards in my area - lots of cherries - if the cherry trees got my hail, that probably put paid for this year's area cherry crop.

Love those wedding bouquets!!

Sunny and warm for a change in Ohio. Today I slept in, but then got out and cleaned my sewer compartment. It was really filthy, partly for accumulating a lot of dirt and a bit of sewage that was dried from a dump station "accident" a while back. This compartment has a door on it, but also has a hole in the bottom where the dump hose goes through to the outside. When I use the dump station, I have to thread the sewer hose from the bottom through the hole and attach it to the black and grey tank connection. Then, I put the other end in the sewer hole and pull one of the handles to empty everything. But this compartment also has the electrical hose attached to a connection, so I have to pull it out and plug it in. And I also store the "accordion" thing that the sewer hose goes on. And my sewer hose also gets folded up and stored in this compartment also.

I rinsed the hose out and wipe the electrical cord off when I put stuff away, but somehow the sewer hose hole lets in a lot of road dirt and just plain other dirt, so it gets really bad after a while. I pulled everything out and washed it all down with a bleach and soap combination. Rolled up the excess electrical cord and tied it with some bungee cords, even washed down all the extra accordion sections, and finally will rinse out and wash down the sewer hose when I leave here. Nice to have it all clean!

Had a urologist appointment yesterday and tomorrow is my appointment with the gastroenterologist. Thursday, I get a stress test and Friday my stitches in my mouth come out. No more appointments, I hope, until I come back from London. And amazingly, the weather in London looks warm and mostly sunny over the next week or so. Hope it stays that way. Last time I was there, I froze to death and was soaking wet most of the time.

Pat, I am exhausted just reading your busy schedule! :o What flavor kolaches do you make? My dad used to buy blueberry ones. Those bouquets are beautiful!

Anne, I had tomato plants one year in MN and the tomatoes were just turning a nice red and almost ready to pick, when we got a big hail storm! By the time that was over, I had a garden full of tomato sauce and shredded plants! :o I was so sad! :(

Got all my haircuts done and just playing on my laptop. It is very windy out now, like predicted, but cool too. I have my bedroom window open and it feels nice. My bedroom faces south so I don't get the dust in that window too much.

I think tomorrow I will borrow my neighbors tall ladder so I can put up the Reflectix foil insulation in the skylights before the heat comes in later in the week. The skylights are in the vaulted ceilings so are about 12 feet high. I have one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom.

I was talking to my friend Debbie today about cats. They just had their old cat put to sleep a couple weeks ago duo to old age issues. She doesn't want any more cats after the one they still have is gone. I told her that after Lola goes, I am considering just fostering cats and kittens. There is a real need for fosters now days and I would be helping out the cat community as well as still having cats in my life to love (even temporarily). It would work out better for me if I decide to travel part of the year.

Have a good night!

I read the other day and to be honest I don't know how reliable the article was and I could also be remembering the amount correctly but that there are 60 million wild domestic cats... sounds like an incredible amount...
cute kitty and beautiful bouquet's Pat what is a "wood rose"?
think it's been a sleepy day for mom today... she didn't even turn over to news at 5 woke up about 5:35 frowning because the smoke alarm was going off had been for a bit I was bound and determined to get the potatoes mashed before I took time to take it off the wall... :o it's takes so little to set it off all I did was turn over the hamburger patties... was going to try doing them in the AF but I decided that I was lazy and didn't want to have to clean it after what I thought would be lots of splatter and if what was splattered on the stove top was any indication then I made a good choice... was also going to do potato wedges however mashed sounded better... mom must not have liked them though she took some but didn't eat much I think I didn't salt them enough  or not gravy not sure which...
tried doing some indexing it's a batch of birth in 1937 and what we read off of is a carbon copy one name I couldn't even read the given name and one name was so long had to think she probably was glad when she got married.... only did 29 names will finish it up in a day or two...
so my claim to doing much today wasn't much... did get my two rows on the crocheted afghan done but no Swedish Weave... will work on it tomorrow...
Anita it's Sept 12-19 Royal Caribbean guess we won't be there at the same time... it would have been fun...
Beth hopefully you will find workers it's really hard everywhere to find worker's hope you succeed
when my father in law my mother in law moved into an assisted care center however she really didn't have in the area she was in (basically an apartment) as they needed more care they move into a different part of the care center... Lyn why don't you look into 55 plus area's they can be somewhat the same type of set up but make sure it's one that has a pool and pets can't hurt to look
you all have a good night
