Saturday, May 7th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday, May 7th

Morning all. Awake at bit after4 a.m., couldn’t get back to sleep, so finally said to heck with it a bit after 5. Decided to do little research on the IPad and start the Coffee for todsy. Another nice cool spring day coming up. Extremely dry and windy, so Fire Danger is Very High. Typical of this time of year. We need rain and none in sight.

Enjoying working outside in the 60 degree weather. Put my Pepper plant out in the sun on the deck yesterday, brought it in for the night as nights are in low 40’s yet. Some new growth starting to show. Pansies and Wave petunias can tolerate the cool nights. . Put some edging in front of shed and will fill in with pea stone to keep dirt from splashing on siding when it rains. Cleaned and organized garage and took old picnic table apart to repair and shorten. Might become a table to set Pepper plant on, once it’s outside for summer.

Think I will run to town and pick up some pea stone this morning. Have a pile of cardboard To take to recycle bin, so will do that on the way.
Then see what else I get into today.

Morning Sue and All, steady raining yesterday and will until tomorrow evening, Temperature drop to 50’s, dark and gloomy. Juliet plant is in a big pot so draped with a sheet. Lights flickered off and on all night at high tide so worrisome. There is a low section down the road that floods at high tide with lots of rain. Glad I installed batteries in new alarm clock. I did manage to reset time properly but the alarm went off at 7am. I didn’t knowingly set the alarm but I did set it to soft music. Pork roast is in fridge to defrost for crockpot tomorrow. Was planning to bake a cake today which is iffy with power fluctuation. Just remembered I have a gas stove so baking a cake won’t be affected by power. :D Best laid plans, will see how the day goes. Be safe

Good morning to all. I think I need to think about a boat if this rain doesn’t stop soon! We have had steady rain since Thursday night and forecasted to not stop until sometime tomorrow afternoon. We are in the area of the flood advisory and there are areas of town that do flood. I went out yesterday to go to the garage to make an appointment to get Lola’s annual state inspection and noticed the creek was just about to hit the high watermark and overflow its banks. And that was about 2:30 so no idea what it’s doing now. So it’ll be another gloomy day to stay inside and do stuff here in the house. I finally broke down and called a guy to come an clear up the leaves still piled up in the flower beds along the driveway. It’ll at least get me caught up and then I can go from there. I still need to hitch the little trailer and haul bags to the dump, no clue how many there are at this point but it’s full! Luckily it’s parked in the garage so they aren’t adding more weight by being out in the rain! I’ve sorta decided to try to get out and camp if I can get reservations. Going to try to stay more or less closer to home and midweek so may be easier to get into campgrounds. Time will tell. It’ll be strange to not travel with Rascal but I’ll just have to get out and walk anyway. Admittedly it has been strange this week not having him in the house but each day it’s getting a bit better. For the first time in practically my whole life I’m not responsible for anyone but myself and that is truly something I have to get used to. Son told me I could borrow their little dogs if I wanted! Figure at least if they take a vacation I’ll get to keep them! So that’s about all the news I have so will quit rambling and go get busy. It’s almost noon and I really haven’t gotten anything done! Rain does that to me! Hope you all have a good weekend and have a good Mother’s Day tomorrow!

I unloaded two bags of mulch and a bag of cat food and now I'm sitting in front of a fan. It's only 82 but very humid. The yard should probably get mowed again before I leave. Maybe I'll get it done this afternoon. I'm bring Sugar to my son's for the week. There is something wrong with the roof air on my motorhome so will have to sit in front of a fan all week. It was 90 yesterday and Sugar wanted to be outside all day. I think she saw me going in the camper and she was afraid she would miss a trip. This morning she decided it's too hot.

When the renewal for my motorhome tag came in I noticed that my name was spelled wrong on the title. I have been carrying the renewal and title for a month to go get it corrected. I didn't know if I still needed an appointment with the DMV but took a chance and went by. I lucked out, it was open and only 2 people ahead of me. I could have gotten my drivers license renewed but I want to get one of the "real" licenses and of course I didn't have the paperwork to do that.

I went to Walmart to get the food I need for the week and of course forgot things. I stopped at Walgreens to get a new brush for my electric toothbrush. I'm not paying $40 for the brush when Walmart has them for $20 so hope I can remember to go to Walmart today.

Sharon, not being responsible for an animal would be strange to me too. I sure didn't need another dog but sure miss her when she isn't camping with me. I could use some more rain but not flooding.

Hi ladies!

I just wrote a post and saved it and before I hit Submit, it was gone. That doesn't happen often.

It's a typical Saturday here and I will need to practice for tomorrow's service. I'm not sure if I mentioned that we're taking off early Tuesday for a couple day getaway for a change of scenery. We have reservations for a pontoon boat ride around an island and hope to have a decent seafood meal for dinner after the trip. The day before we have a couple places book marked to visit as well. Because of the atrocious diesel prices, this will work, instead of driving to MD for crab feast. We found a decent seafood store and have gotten crab meat on several occasions to satisfy our appetite for steamed crabs. It's not the same but it will suffice.

I'm going to copy & try again.

Irmi, thought of you. My son just brought my Mother’s Day gift, 1 doz. Soft crabs, asparagus and strawberries. He said hard crabs selling $300 a bushel. A wedding on the water at Wye Landing and reception in a tent. It is pouring rain and the wind is whipping. Just a little local gossip. You are wise to travel closer to home. I changed my location to match yours lol

Shirl, thanks for the update on the price of crabs, but I'm so sorry your weather is so wet and blustery. The steamed crabs from our seafood store sell at the same price, but I have a feeling that sometime this summer we'll bite the bullet and get some anyway. Your Mother's Day gift sounds wonderful! You have a very loving & caring family!

Shirl, I had no than posted when a friend of ours from the resort called me to ask me if we were home. When I said yes, she said she was bringing some crabs! She and her hubby are also originally from MD and enjoy crabs as much as we do. What a surprise! We can't wait to reciprocate!

ok I was going to say something what right now haven't a clue!!! so maybe if I ramble on I will figure it out oh yes I know.... if mom didn't mind dogs in the house I would be looking for one... it's been almost a year and am missing Shadow even more than when he passed on...
ok back to the rambling or not
it maybe windy out as I am chilled... was suppose to be windy most of the day but when I was out or looked out it wasn't 'that' bad.... they were saying sustained at 20 mph but doubt that it got that bad...
called one of the nursery's today years ago there was a pansy that the coloring was so pretty more of a muted colors just really liked it not seen it in years so thought I would call see if by such a small description they would know if they had it ... told me that they put out 700 flats of pansy's (I wonder if he meant plants) as that is an incredible amount of flats... anyway they aren't blooming yet so he didn't know if any of them were what I am looking for... try in a couple of weeks... will have to do that... although I had hopes to get pansy's and plant this one planter....hopefully we will be able to see it...
for years I've bought plants and planted mom's planters for Mother's day gift but here we usually wait till after memorial day weekend in hopes that it will be warmer...
Beth did you find a worker? hope so
