Good morning Shirl and others who follow!

Shirl, no Great Clips here. This town is small and they don't allow any franchised or chain businesses here. All businesses must be privately owned. It would be nice to live here but it is expensive up here to live and not much to do other than hiking. Just a good place to get away to for a couple days. Later this summer, I want to head up to Big Bear in the mountains northeast of LA. Another cute mountain town/ski resort. Higher in elevation and there is a large lake there. Very pretty!

I didn't sleep well last night. The queen bed was really hard and uncomfortable. There is also a twin bed in here so I moved over to that one which is softer. But still didn't sleep well due to noises around the cottage, probably animals outside. I was also experiencing vertigo which didn't help any. Not sure if that is brought on by the altitude or what. So I am very tired this morning. I will get packed up and checked out and go have breakfast. Then go on a short hike. I found a new short trail nearby that I might try. Will see how I feel after breakfast. Might head back down the mountain earlier than I had planned so I can get unpacked and get to bed early tonight since I work tomorrow.

Enjoy your day!

I went to Lafayette this morning, mostly to go to Petsmart. I was wanting to go to Lowe's so decided to go to the one in Lafayette. Bad idea. That place was a zoo. The one in Abbeville doesn't get that busy. I was out of the mood by the time I got back to Abbeville so maybe tomorrow.

Yesterday I picked up my motorhome. So far so good so guess my trip to Texas is on. There was a bad solenoid besides the bad alternator that wasn't letting the battery charge when it got hot.

I don't remember every seeing lilacs here so looked them up. One site said that it doesn't get cold enough in South Louisiana for them to grow right.

Barbie, your get away sounded nice but sorry you aren't feeling good.

Beautiful day here today. Sun is shining and a high of 78.......BUT tomorrow temp drops for the week to 50's and rain. Snow for the higher elevations LOL our lows in the high 30's low 40's dang I am never going to get anything planted sheesh. I will go this week and get some bags of potting soil just to be ready.

Making sloppy joes for dinner. Barbies sounded really good and I forgot how much I like them. Judy you made me smile with your lilacs as those were the first bushes I planted also, 2 Lilac bushes. So far so good. This will be their second year so I am sure I will have more flowers, they are growing tho.

Every time I drive past a lilac bush in bloom in a colder climate, it takes every ounce of resolve I have not to pull over and break off a stem or two. So, keep an eye on your lilacs, those of you lucky enough to have them!

I also love lilacs. One place I lived backed up to a forest preserve and I can arrest that the deer also loved the lilacs. Lol

Nothing exciting here. I was testing Ty a few minutes ago. I feel bad when he's in the RV too much so bring him in the office after continental breakfast and into the afternoon. There's a back room with a couch and I just put the gate in the doorway to that room to do a check-in, but he wouldn't shush. He just gets so excited. So the guests waited a moment and Ty went back to the RV for now. He's been with me 5 or 6 hours so no problem, but I'd love for him to handle that. I'll try again. Maybe if he realizes he'd rather stay he'll learn. If I shut him in, he scratches the door, and it's not my door, so not workable and he'd probably still be noisy.

My favorite breakfast place has closed up so I ended up at another place right in town. Had a decent meal out on their deck. Checked out a few more shops that weren't open yesterday. Didn't buy anything. Oh wait! I did buy a little wooden plaque that says "Dear Karma, I have a list of people you missed.
Headed up to Lake Fulmor and walked around that a bit getting lots of pics. It isn't very big but is really pretty surrounded by large pines and the mountains in the background. I wasn't feeling much better than this morning so I skipped the new trail I read about and went back to the Nature Preserve near town that I have been to several times. Was there for about an hour and then started getting cramps and nauseous. I was about to leave to go back home but hung around town for about an hour to see what would happen. There is nowhere to stop between there and Palm Desert where the road down the mountain goes into. I took a Pepto and hung out at a small garden center watching lizards (I saw 3 jet black lizards today! Never seen black ones before!) and a fat squirrel. I would have liked to have stayed in town for another night just to be sure I was OK, but I have to work tomorrow so I finally decided to just head out. I was feeling better once I got started but then I got to all the curves down the mountain and started getting dizzy and feeling carsick (which I usually don't do when I am driving, only as a passenger). Once I got down the mountain and on a flat road, I pulled over for a bit to let it pass. Then I took a less busy road across the valley from there since it was rush hour but still took awhile to get home. Am feeling better tonight but am really tired so am going to bed soon.

Karen, what color are the lilac flowers you planted? Actually my favorite color is the deep purple. They get SO big and smell so good! The white ones are smaller and not quite as fragrant, in my opinion, but still nice! Several of our neighbors had the purple ones, light and dark, so I would go pick some of those and mix them in with the white ones we had from our bush. We had a small white lilac bush in the back yard but it hardly ever bloomed. Sometimes we got one or two little flowers but that was all, if we were lucky. The front bush would hang over onto the grass because they got so thick and heavy.

As soon as I got home I was greeted by the two stray kitties because their dishes were empty! I know they get fed by at least 2 other neighbors but they looked so sad like they were starving! What con artists! So I fed them.

All in all, I had a great mini vacation in spite of not feeling the best. The beautiful flowers, pine trees, mountains and fresh cool air were so nice! :D I might be allergic to Lilacs tho. I had the ones I picked yesterday, right next to my bed and my eyes this morning were really puffy and sore!. Oh well, they smelled wonderful so it was worth it!

Back to work in the morning...am glad to be back in my own bed tonight!

I came back last night to see if anyone posted after I did and lo and behold I'm not there I really need to watch and make sure it posts as I am pretty sure Judy posted when I did  when I saw I wasn't there I just didn't even tried to re do it... was getting ready to go to the bed room
Just watched a commercial about depression try and I can I can't understand what one of the people says bugs me every time I see it...
last night we had company made chicken enchilada's I forget how good the recipe is... so enjoyed it also may tres leshe cake nephews family came over tonight and we finished it up it was good it just isn't a cake that lasts long... starts to get soggy but it was still enjoyable
I really didn't realize that lilacs didn't grow in the hotter area's we have them all over the inter mountain area when we lived in Salt Lake City someone in the area had this huge lilac shrub don't know how big it was but it was huge... I remember when I lived in the mid west I couldn't get over the flowers that grew on trees our trees didn't have blossoms on them even Arizona has trees with blossoms on them
a quit day put together the wind spinner but think I need to move it a bit either a few feet or to a totally different area... the problem with where it's at is the plants in the window blocks the view also I think there is condensation in the window as it always "looks" wet so kinda wondering it where we can see it in the side yard would be good just depends upon it it can been seen over the railing on the deck might take it over and see...
got a think final drawing of what the apartment will look like that is until it changes  but it does look good now to figure hot how to buy the appliances dry wall flooring ect not to mention furniture guess we will have to figure something out wonder how much dry wall I can buy with my Lowe's credit card have a 1000 limit... will have to figure it out when the frame work is up ... and then there is the wood for the framing... :o
you all have a great day

Sheila, did I miss something? I don't remember reading about an apartment...For you or your mom?

For my sloppy joes, this time I used Manwich Burbon BBQ sauce mixed with some ketchup. It was really good! The Manwich was a little too tangy for me so that is why I mixed in the ketchup but if you like tangy, than you could use just the whole can of it. I used to use "Not So Sloppy Joe" sauce but I can't find it anywhere so I thought I would try this. I will buy it again. I also tried putting pickles on them (under the bun) and that was really good too!
