Wednesday April 27

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday April 27

Morning All, sunny and cooler. Thinking another week of cooler temperatures but that can change any day. Can’t imagine how farmers deal with the weather changes. Pat, your post was encouraging. Nice to read about a community helping one of their own. I want to believe that is still the America we don’t hear about. Sent info to #2 daughter about a thunder shirt for Lucas car anxiety and a pet door for the screen in her slider. It has been a research morning since I want a dehumidifier for the summer. I cranked up the ac last year. it worked but was a little chilly here.
Looked on Amazon and too many choices. Never heard of the companies and mixed reviews. I’m waiting for Karen to say what’s for dinner because I haven’t a clue. Barbie, don’t understand your manager, you are bringing in business. Guess others need to step up their game if they want to compete with you. Lol Be safe

Sunny and cool here for now, rain is coming though for the next forever. Crazy spring so far. Shirl has your daughter tried Dramamine for Lucas. If he gets car sick the 24 hour type really helps and fortunately or unfortunately it does not make them drowsy. Sometimes drowsy is good!! She would have to check with her vet as to how much. Pippa could take 1/2 pill when she weighed 6 pounds. You made me laugh yesterday with
your comment about undressing on your way to the bathroom. I can so relate!

The ladies who clean for me are coming today to defrost my freezers. I bought one of them in the late 90's and have only defrosted it once. One is in the basement an one in the garage. Anything not dated will go in the trash! I think they can hurry the defrosting along with my big dog grooming dryer. I should have bought the ones that defrost automatically.

Pat I'm going to pass on your potting information to my friends who garden. Who would have thought1 I can also give them some already shredded piddle pads! It's Pippa's favorite pass time.

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary and DH painted this for me. We always watch Wheel of Fortune and it's a cross word puzzle.

Good morning. Just hanging out getting my coffee load on so I can start my day. Time to run the big vacuum again as Emma is starting to blow her coat and there are little tufts of hair everywhere. I pick them up when I see them but now it is time to drag out the big Kahuna vacuum LOL My little robot vacuum does well but need to get the deep down dirt up

My old neighbor Jerry and I are going out to lunch today. We are going for Chinese food. I havent been out to eat here in this town for months. I often like to go out and eat something I dont usually fix for myself. So Shirl it will probably be leftover chinese food IF I am hungry, otherwise just some snacky stuff. I dont even get any fast food to bring home as all the places seem to have some sort of issue. Seems easier and safer to just eat at home. If I can ever find the food truck lot here I might get something there one day. I do get to go out and eat when I am down in Medford some, but we usually go to the seafood place or pick up some Jersey Mikes.

Good to hear from you Pat. BJ Happy Anniversary enjoy your day. I need to pick up some potting soil for my large containers but I am waiting for it to go on sale which should be soon. Going to get the soil ready to start planting.

Okay coffee all gone, time to pop into the shower after I vacuum.

Cute card BJ. And good Morning to all. Pat, I love how your town is so helpful to each other. Makes my heart sing reading your stories.
I awakened at 3 AM and couldn’t go back to sleep. So, stayed in bed and read till 6. Then got up and sat in a chair to read the morning paper.
It is cool here today. I will still go in the pool as it is heated.
Daughter driving through Indiana today. Truck running well.
Yesterday my seventh great was born. Will have one more in May, then I think that will be all.

It got down to 57 last night and it's still cool. This is good weather to have all year but it will soon be hot I'm sure. I probably should go mow in Maurice but that probably won't get done today. I want to give it time to dry because I stand a chance of getting the mower stuck over there. That would be a major PIA.

BJ, your card is so cute. I wish I had someone to clean for me but I would have to clean before I would let anyone come. Sugar doesn't seem to shed more any particular time, it's all bad. I just thought the cats were bad. I am working on getting the food down in the freezer to get ready for hurricane season. I'm starting to see a few holes.

Pat, it's nice that everyone can help with the wedding. I just can't see spending what some people spend for a wedding. It would be a big down payment on a house.

There are starting to be more and more food trucks in this area but I have never stopped at one. I have been wanting some Mexican food so I should try one of the trucks. There are now two lots for the food trucks, one North and one East of here.

I still have to go to town but that will be after lunch.

Pat, I always love your stories of your town and friends. It's how things were when I was growing up and I miss that. And I've missed you here. BJ, I love the cards your husband makes you.

I could post about so much everyone has said but my brain is stuck on what's happening here. My part time couple aren't happy here (mainly the maintenance 1/2 of the couple). I can't argue with the problems. They went to talk to the maintenance manager last night and all of a sudden the couple is leaving this week! And we're to be the busiest so far next week. The owners best at least find me a housekeeper asap. But I doubt it will happen.

I just had to run out because our laundry delivery was here and he brought Ty a treat. A big treat. He says he wants Ty to know it's not just ups and Fedex drivers that can give treats. Lol

I like food trucks, most of the time. Way preferable to me than fast food.

Good afternoon ladies!

Happy anniversary, BJ! I too, love the cards your hubby made and has made in the past. Martha, I agree that so many folks spend a fortune on their weddings where I feel it could have been spent more wisely. Pat, thanks for checking in and telling us about the way friends & the town are pitching in! Lyn, it's always good to read your posts. Maybe you might have a gtg on the west coast at some point! Barbie, I love the cards you made. Shirl, I hope you find something yummy for dinner. Beth, that's a shame about the couple that will be leaving and hope you find a replacement real soon.

We're going to get into the high 80's today with mostly sunny skies. I had a dentist appointment in Lakeland this morning, which takes over an hour to get to. They have opened a new office in The Villages which is closer to us but are still hiring surgeons and dentists to work with the surgeons. So it looks like my next appointment will still be in Lakeland, but that's okay.

My walking partner is leaving today for a baby shower but will be back the middle of next week, so I'm trying to keep my mindset to continue my morning walks while she is gone. It's so much easier to have someone to exercise with. We have leftover crab cakes and sliced ham which will be our dinner this evening with a couple sides.

Enjoy the rest of your day, what's left of it.

And about dog hair..... But what would our lives be without at least some? On that note, Audrey and Lark took over the grooming table yesterday. Once she was spayed, Audrey's coat turned into the dreaded English Cocker "spay coat" which turns cottony, curly and fluffy. The males don't seem to have as much a change in their coats but the bitches' coats are ruined. They grow out and matt ruthlessly and as a result are shaved down to a much shorter coat. It saved then much agony on the grooming table. Audrey lost her winter coat and moved into her spring/summer ensemble. Audrey danced around afterwards and seemed very happy with herself. Lark on the other hand received a deep brushing and combing to get that winter undercoat to come out while on the grooming table rather than all over the house. Goldens are one of those breeds that seem to have major sheds about twice a year. If you can get the dead coat out at those times, they still require some combing but not as much. Lark had not had a major comb out for awhile. Then having spend the weekend at a dog show that was holding a Golden Specialty with an entry of 72 Goldens, many of which were standing around on their grooming tables looking beautiful, Lark got trimmed up to look like them as best she could. Her bath came to day. I have a tub called a "Flying Pig" that I can use in the shower to bath English Cocker but having once tried it with Lark, she and I choose to head over to the Pet Supply Plus store and use their much larger tubs and their air dryers. My back appreciates not having to bend over to bath dogs any more. So now she is clean and beautiful. Well she is until she decides to follow Audrey's bad example and dig some more on the mole trails in the backyard.

Good morning all,

Perfect weather here - low-mid 70's.

French class ended a little early today. The teacher has a heck of a time getting the kids to interact so he usually just ends up doing things himself. I might try for an 'in-person' class in the fall - especially if I can get the one taught by the director of the department. She is French & everyone raves about her - plus she has a great name > "Catherine".

Speaking of the good ol' days when shopping... I sometime scout out things I need to buy online before heading to a store. Lately I've found that Walmart & Target both charge more in the store than they post online. I usually make them honor the online price - a hassle but it makes me mad to pay more just because I came to the store.

I had Jordi yesterday. After not having him last week, he grew & changed. Guess I'll have to make it a point to visit over there more frequently come summer-time. Will try to take him out more until the weather gets too hot. We usually go to a close-by park, but I'm looking for other places to visit - like the Arboretum just a few miles away - or other parks.

Got a dentist appt this afternoon. :( - just for cleaning, but I still dread going.

Better get moving.
take care,
Catherine

Had some excitement today and learned something new.

I stayed in bed reading for a long while because it was so warm and cozy there in this almost freezing weather, but got up around noon and baked some flatbread pizza on the oven racks as the directions specified. But something must have dripped and started to burn and smoke, so smoke/CO2 alarm went off. Opened windows and doors and turned on bathroom fan. Then hit the silence button, which stopped the loud noise. After a few minutes, I turned off fan and closed windows. Alarm went off again, very loudly.

I hit silence button and a few minutes later, it screamed again. Opened windows to no avail, and it kept screaming every few minutes. Went online for manual and nothing on how to handle the situation. Guy on phone had me take alarm down and hit silence button again, but this time, he told me to get a hair dryer out, if I had one, and blow it on one side of the alarm, on cool. The object is to blow out the dust inside the alarm! Did this on all sides, and IT WORKED! Alarm stopped and stayed stopped. RVs, as we all know, get amazingly dusty, so I am going to do this a couple of times each year. Also will replace batteries in future.

Also, I thought this was a sealed battery unit, but discovered it needed two AA batteries, so I replaced them as well on this two-year-old alarm.

Today was on the slower side. I had a guy come in for me that I cut a couple months ago. He is really attractive and very nice. We have great conversations. He grew up in northern Minnesota. I haven't figured out yet if he is married or not. I think he is. But he is fun to talk to (and look at) anyways.

I also can't believe the cost of weddings now days! The average cost is between $20K and $40K!! :o That would make a halfway decent down payment on a small house. So crazy! I used to watch "Say Yes To The Dress" and it was amazing how much some brides were willing to pay for a dress, and then they would buy another just as costly of a dress for the reception! I have also noticed that parents are spending a bundle on their kids birthday parties! My manager spends about $500 on each of her kids for their birthday parties! That is crazy! When I was a kid, my mom bought a regular cake from the store, buy me a couple small gifts, invite about 6 kids, and make sloppy joes for lunch. We would either go outside sledding afterward or go to a matinee. Proms are another thing that has gotten out of control financially. I borrowed my first (Jr) prom dress from a friend of mine, and bought the 2nd (Sr) prom dress from JC Penney for $60 (which I thought was really high then!).

BJ, I will buy an "A" and an "I", please! That card is so adorable! He is so creative! I hope you keep all of those!

Am tired today. Back to work tomorrow and then I have Friday off. I work Saturday thru Tuesday after that and will be very tired after 4 straight days!

Have a good evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

don't know why but my computer isn't charging tonight plugged in the power cord is on everything seems tight it's been doing this for several days usually get it on you know the symbol that says it's plugged in?? but tonight it's never come on... only thing I can think of is that I need a new cord... I am going to the city on Sat just don't want to wait that long hate not being able to get into the sites that are important... here and bank the other's well I will survive... oh and my game hate not doing that but if I'm going to check bank need to get off why I still have some battery that is if it doesn't charge tomorrow... so if I'm MIA you all will know what happened..
read an interesting article in the "daily" I wish I could have found something so you all could google it  it basically was talking about homegrown Parks.... talking about the need for areas for the pollinators the birds and insects can come to... told how beneficial they are... if I wasn't trying to beat the clock on the battery going out I'd mention more think I will keep it and then bring out more of the article later... had some good ideas... one that if I had my own home would try to put in...
we've had a leak in the bathtub brother stopped by today and fixed it sorta he turned it further that I did and pushed in hard... but he thinks it will need to be replaced soon it's the original so due for a change out just not going to be easy as I think he said it was soldered not sure how he could tell that but oh well I wasn't here when he came
you all take care...
hope to see you tomorrow
