I raced a T-storm home from my daughters. Locked the apartment door and proceeded to undress on my way to the bathroom. Whew, made it. Lol. I will continue to dress in street clothes, don’t want to make the Walmart pictures on the internet. I bought two pair of soft comfortable pants and a beautiful top at Boscov. If I ever have anywhere to go I’m ready. A bag of potting soil at Lowes and two bags of Black Cow Manuel for my daughter because I love her. Lol. Had Blacken Cajun Salmon , garlic mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and iced tea for lunch. Martha, I’m just digging in flower pots but it is still gardening. Bj, hope you find time to paint more. Irmi, daughter and I were wondering what Wye Landing crabs will cost this year. Whatever we will all pitch in. Shelia, I have tried and failed at afghans so I appreciate your talent. Lyn, kick those feet and paddle those arms. ((Hugs)). Becsafe

Judy I'm at the KOA in Streetsboro again. About 1/2 hour south of you. What dates will you be there?

Barbie, and that box of warm weather soon please. :D

Suppose I’d better check in again Wind has been so bad that we had lost shingles off the roof and huge branches off trees. The maps show us in extreme drought. Our poor volunteer fire department has been averaging two fire calls a day. Stupid stupid people who think they need to burn things when the wind is blowing 30+ miles an hour.

My gardening efforts aren’t progressing very well this year. Last year every canna seed I planted in the house started…this year only about half of them sprouted. I tried starting some marigolds and zinnias and they’re looking pretty sickly too. I will give an economical hint for keeping plants in pots hydrated in hot weather. I buy some cheap diapers and tear off the plastic and plant them about halfway down in the pot. The diapers have the same type of beads that the hydro beads sold in stores but the batting in the diapers also hold moisture. The paper mache containers and the baskets with the coconut liners are the worst for plants drying out, but then plastic can hold too much heat. Some extra peat added to purchased potting soil will also help retain moisture. All little tricks that I learned from helping out at the big wholesale green house in town and Missy at her greenhouse in Mitchell.

Faye and I are in the process doing the flowers for another wedding. Our friend Cathy son is getting married. The bride chose wood flowers…they’re called Sola flowers and very unique. They had to be dyed which we are lucky that the bride and her mother did. So far we have all the boutonnieres, mothers, grandmothers, personal attendant wrist corsages done. We’re at the stand still until they find more the baby’s breath they bought originally. We still have five bridesmaid bouquets, the bride’s bouquet, flower girl basket and the alter bouquets to make. Wedding isn’t until June 18th so we have time. In May Cathy’s daughter graduates from high school. Sammi, her daughter, won the state science fair in the senior division and goes to Atlanta for the national science fair. They leave the Sunday before graduation and don’t get back until the day before graduation…..Faye and I are in charge of making 20# of potato salad for her reception, her mom is going to make another salad. Another friend’s husband is going to smoke pork loins for pulled pork sandwiches. Another friend is going to decorate the church fellowship hall where it will be held. So we’re all pulling together to help her out with that. Cathy’s husband passed a couple of years ago.

Tomorrow morning I had to drive a cargo van of flowers up to Mitchell for Missy. The van will be loaded and all I have to do is hop in and drive. The owners of the wholesale have asked if I was willing to do some short distance deliveries if they’re in a pinch. They’re short workers this year as is every place. Seems that no one wants to work. I’ve done that a few times for them before. All I have to do is drive and the retailer unloads and I head home. Pretty easy and the wages are decent.

So that’s about it for my itty bitty news….even though this did get rather lengthy.

Have a good day….what’s left of it!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Cheryl, I just sent you a PM. That KOA is only about 7 miles from my son's house. I have been bouncing between the various state parks in the area because they are quiet and cheap for me because I am a Ohio resident and get a senior discount.

did get the bedspread washed ... still need to put it on the bed only took looking at two sets of sheets to find the right size one day I'm going to organize the linen closet...
as I read I think of responses and by the time I get my turn have totally forgotten...
perhaps if I go backwards I will remember .... Pat how far are you from Mitchell? I'm going to feel really bad it if is just a short distance I think although not positive that dd and I went through there last summer but that was last summer....
Anita when are you going and what ship line.... we will be going on an AK cruise about the same time right now can't remember the date maybe it's on the phone .... Sept `12 to to 18 maybe Quantum of the Sea but not seeing the name of the liner it would be so funny ....
I am going to try and make some either crab cakes or salmon patties in the air fryer some day soon...
not tomorrow though...
I am having a total brain freeze though... just can't remember what I wanted to say...
hopefully Martha you will get word on what is wrong with the motor home... I have to hand it to you though I'd never have thought of doing what you did...
had a deer in the yard actually being to think that there may have been two... as I saw it in one spot went and told mom she came out to see if I actually thought she wouldn't be able to see much of it... so I'm looking at it all the time mom was in the other room then she went back to the living room later I asked if she could see much of it she said it was laying down by the window so only saw it's rump well the one I saw was standing
right now I'm glad mom's hearing isn't good... she isn't hearing that stream of water that I can't get to stop... she would be really worrying about it text my brother from what his son said he might be here tomorrow to bring back their dogs.... so he might be able to work on it as well... we can only hope....
was looking at this thing on Yahoo about designer dogs.... the combo's really made on wonder.... and think of the poor dogs about only a couple that I even thought was cute... lots of poodle mixes as well as lab... several golden retriever mixes as well as husky there was one that was rotty and golden I think
got only one row on my new afghan the border is more time consuming that the rest of it as you want to get the count correct... and it's hard to hold on too when it's just the chain and one row
I think it was my aunt that thought me how to then I picked it up years later... it's a flat piece goes to one end and you start out again on the other end...so self fringes
you all have a good day
Lyn hope you dd has no further trouble on trip ....

Judy, cats may be smart but they also lick their butts! I remember a story about a cat who would go out at night and steal things from other peoples yards and came home with all sorts of things including swim suits, shoes, socks, etc! His owners would put everything out on a table in their yard for the neighbors to claim their stuff.

My new phone sucks, so I just ordered a new one. Hopefully that one will actually work.
I also ordered some business cards for work. Our owner doesn't offer Great Clips business cards and doesn't like clients requesting stylists, which is totally ridiculous and unprofessional. I had cards made up with the GC's name, address and phone number, and my name on them because I get asked all the time for a card from my clients, even at the other shop. So I will keep them in my cubby at my station so no one else (owner) sees them and just hand them out when people ask for one.

Didn't get much else done today other than the haircut and a nap. Back to work tomorrow.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

And on the topic of designer dogs.....Yes, some of them might be cute but at the end of the day they are mixed breed/mutts that folks use to make money...lots of money. The asking price of many of the doodles are thousands of dollars and generally more expensive than well bred puppies from responsible breeders that complete the breed recommended health tests. And surprise surprise most of the hypoallergenic hype is just that...hype. A study of genetics will tell you that mixing two breeds is a crap shoot at best....whether it is coat quality, health issues, temperament. I also think one of the worst disservices, though is that very few individuals that go out thinking they just have to have a doodle never get the information regarding the usual extensive grooming requirements. They are not educated or prepared to tackle the grooming themselves and are shocked by the price of that life long professional grooming costs. My friends who are groomers have way too many stories to tell of matted dogs coming in and many owners who really had/have not clue. And if you haven't seen the posts on FB, I will try to find one one day. It shows a collage of about twenty or more dogs....all have that cute doodle hairy thing going for them...except that all but about 3 of them are actually well bred, full blooded AKC breeds. Well bred poodles (and many other breeds) can appear like a doodle, cost you less and come with health testing. As I often tell folks, health testing for known genetic issues doesn't guarantee a healthy dog but does increase the probability, especially on issues like good hips. I will step down off the soap box now.....Not sorry for oversharing. I see and hear too much from folks on the front lines....

Tina, I love your soapbox. And I so agree. Health testing is so important if you are going to breed. I personally am not a fan of the "doodles", but know many people who have one.

I also am not a fan of the designer dogs. So your soapbox sits just fine with me, Tina.
