Saturday April 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday April 23

Morning All, it’s warm and cloudy. No special plans and it is the weekend. Heavy traffic will soon keep me homebound. The Maryland transportation department in charge have decided to build a third bridge next to the others to alleviate traffic congestion. The third bridge will access the same highway that is backed up for hours all summer. Do wish I could live in a potting shed in daughter’s butterfly garden. Shelia, Mother Nature just blows the pollen up against the slider. Lol. The stiffer did the job. I didn’t tell my children of thoughts about being naked on the balcony because they have my power of attorney. Be safe

Just got back from the humane society. Picked up the kitty and just released him across the street where he has more places to hide. He had no microchip, but does now. He is neutered and has his shots. He is a big black tuxedo cat that I have named Bootsie because of his white paws. We had a neighbor when I was little that had a black dog with white feet named Bootsie.

Yesterday I got the cupboards finished and ended up with 3 full bags of food to find new homes for. Most of it is expired so can't bring it to the food shelf (I threw out a lot of stuff too that I didn't think was still good), so will see if any of the workers here want it (they usually do). It is all non-perishable food. One whole bag is filled with just microwave popcorn! :o I didn't get to the fridge/freezer yet but will do that today. I do that periodically so it shouldn't be too bad. Maybe will clean up the bathroom too.

I almost had to work today but luckily got out of it. I work tomorrow for one of my co-workers. Seems like I am always getting called to come in on my days off lately. I know it is because we are short-handed right now tho.

It is still fairly windy today but not nearly as bad as the past few days. I noticed there is snow on the higher mountains too. The temps will be going back up thru next week with 98* predicted for Wednesday. Summer is coming!

I should go outside today and clean off the dust and debris on the patios and driveway. Tomato plants need to be watered too. They dry out so fast with the wind! I think my strawberry plant is done.

Hope you all have a great day! :D

Cracked wire did not cause all the other water pumps to fail because those died slowly. Got finished about 4 pm last night so decided to stay there another night. Workmen had to come inside, and floor was dirty plus whole place needed dusting so I vacuumed, washed floor, and then wiped dust off cabinets and door fronts. Even washed windows inside.

So now I am waiting in line at Blue Beacon on way to sons house. Will be at campground before dark but want to stop at kids for dinner. Tomorrow is granddaughters 14th birthday. Have a card and cash to give her because I have no idea what to get her. She wants an electric guitar and needs speakers, however. I pity her parents as she learns to pay it!!!!!

Glad the swifter worked for you, Shirl. Using it was probably the best solution. I use a small leaf blower on my patio, but it tends to churn up a lot of debris when I get it too close to the patio door or side of building.

Hope you have better luck with this water pump, Judy.

Barbie, when I read the first part of your post, I wondered if you were getting another kitty but then saw it was a stray you had taken in to be neutered. Good for you! Thanks for taking the time to help control the kitty population.

Well, I'm going to walk down to Trader Joe's It's nice & cool outside so need to take advantage of it before summer sets in.

Hope you all enjoy your day..

Good day!

Sheila, I let my Ancestry go for awhile, but the last day of my subscription was the day 1950 census came out. Only a partial release and my relatives weren't on it so good for you! Judy, glad they found the wiring issue. Beth, hope you are feeling better. Shirl, your gardening tempts me - maybe next year. Noticed the KOA across the street is looking pretty busy so think tourist season has begun. Interesting FB post about how many homeless are camped around the area even during the winter and numbers are expected to grow during summer. Sounds like they are mostly within the National Forest.

Beautiful day and to be better tomorrow. Warms my heart to see the new baby welcomed home by his grandmother (my sister) and his 3 aunts - one of whom came from Hawaii. :D The large unfinished area outside within my view has restrictions on landscaping due to a water tank above it! They did plant some grass. I told them I understood, but the weeds and dirt on this side are not very pleasing to the eye! They will get rid of weeds and hopefully plant more grass. Someone didn't plan that very well. On the good side, they will be moving the dog poop station! Woohoo!

Enjoy your weekend!

Barbara, have you ever dried mixing Hydro Crystals with soil for potted plants? It looks like coarse sand or bit bigger, and acts like a sponge, then gradually releases water to plants. Might slow down your plants wilting.
Cool here. My Heat/ AC unit kicked on an error code last night about 6 pm, as my Service people were closing. Since I have a geo thermal unit, it takes a specially trained tech to work on it. Son looked up the error it it was a high pressure alarm, which can be just a momentary glitch, but advice was, shut it down until a tech can scan and diagnose- sometime next week! Luckily it's not July! if it got too cool, I can light pellet stove in my room and use fans. As it is, it was 71 in living room and 68 in my room, so it's all good. I did open slider to sunroom a bit and put a fan by opening as its quite warm out there this morning. Hopefully this will be a all clear when checked!
No big plans here. Probably continue clearing lower cupboards in kitchen.
Interesting tidbit. Stormy, my F2 Savannah, has always eaten raw- mostly chicken legs, sometimes beef, and she loves cooked shrimp and pork. Her sister, F4, has always preferred dry or canned, lately, canned. Occasionally Mandy will go arounf and pick up bits of chcken Stormy leaves. Recently I caught Mandy nibbling of Stormys half eaten chcken leg. So the next morning, I fixedv( I very slightly warm in toaster oven, just taking chill off) her a whole leg, cutting slits to help her ( she has missing teeth from eating the dry food and extractions) get ahold of meat to tear off. Today is day 4, and she is half done with her drumstick! Each day she is finishing one. She doesnt break the bones and eat cartilage like Stormy does, but it's so interesting Mandy had decided she loves raw chicken, when it's always been available, she just never showed that much interest . And I know it's so good for her.

I got the fridge and freezer cleaned out. Gave some pickles to my neighbor (had 2 jars). I threw out a lot. Now I can see what all I have in there, and the same with my cupboards. My mom was a food hoarder and had so much food, she didn't know what she had buried in her cupboards and pantry so would keep buying the same kind of foods. When we cleaned out her kitchen, we found like 15 cans of each kind of vegetable, soups, etc. We each took a couple bags of food for our own use. The rest amounted to about 15 bags and boxes of food that my brother took to the food shelf. They thought he had a food drive to collect it all! He said, no, we just cleaned out our mom's kitchen!

I put all the kitchen gadgets/appliances from yesterday and the 3 bags of food from yesterday and put it out on the driveway with a free sign and posted on our FB page. Most of the stuff disappeared pretty fast, including the 3 bags of food (one was just all microwave popcorn!).

Did't get thru my whole list but am glad the kitchen is done now. I will find something else to work on tonight. Back to work tomorrow and Monday.

Lola is doing much better now. Am giving her smaller portions again. She has started to sleep on my chest at night now. She has never done that before. She loves spending the day out on the porch on her bed in the window. When it is warm in there, I put a small fan blowing on her to keep her cooler. She actually likes that.

I bought a cucumber the other day and peeled the skin off it today and sliced it up. I dipped the slices in Ranch dressing and was that ever good!

Judy, better a guitar than drums!

Have a good evening!

I got back from the trip from hell this afternoon. Tuesday I was going to a campground on the Texas, Louisiana border. My alternator went out and I sat on I-10 for about 5 hours while Coach-Net tried to find someone to work on my motorhome. I kept asking them to get me off I-10 before dark but evidently you have to have a destination before they will tow you. They finally decided to tow me to the campground. By this time the campground was closed so they parked me in the parking lot for the boat launch. Thank goodness it was cool enough that I didn't need air conditioning. My son had come to pick up my dog so I wouldn't have to worry about her. The campground had the number for a mobil rv repair so they came out Wednesday and took the alternator off to get a new one. They showed up on Thursday and put on a new alternator and it was no good. At least they got me into a site so I would have electricity. They took the alternator off and came back on Friday to put another one on. So far that one has worked. I only missed breaking down on the high bridge in Lake Charles by about 10 miles. If it had happened on the bridge I would probably have caused a wreck. I had to fight a South wind all the way home but I need to get home.

I was going to mow part of the yard but once I get started I won't quit. I got almost everything mowed.

Barbie, thank you for taking care of the kitties. I haven't seen 4 of my cats this afternoon. My neighbor feeds when I'm gone but they don't like it when I'm not here. Charlie is sneezing again so he probably needs more antibiotics.

Oh Martha, what a mess! I'm glad you're home safely.

I woke up this morning and started my day sweeping the snow from around the motel so guests wouldn't fall coming out. Luckily the sun was out all day so it all melted fairly quickly. That said it never got warm. Supposed to get back in the 50's tomorrow. But staying in the mid to low 20's overnight tonight and tomorrow night. I'm hoping May brings the end of the real cold and no more snow lol. Fingers crossed.

My cold is improving. I'm taking some of my asthma nasal spray and it's helped more than anything else. I laugh because I always claimed it doesn't help my asthma, but maybe it does help clear my sinuses, thus I'll consider trying it for my asthma again in the future.

Barbie, you've been working so hard. I'm impressed. Now to start checking cabinets before purchasing lol. I'm sure I have a few things in my cabinets that need to go.

Anita, are they listening to you, thus doing these things! You have the power!

I arrived at my campsite just before dark tonight and found someone in it, planning on sleeping in a car. I was supposed to be here on Thursday but it was too late to cancel online, so I called the campground people on Thursday before heading to Decatur, and they said they could not cancel it either, but they could not give it away, so it was mine whenever I arrived.

Anyway, the young woman at the site said she had made an online reservation, but obviously that could not have been true. So, since she said she was only here one night and leaving early in the morning, I decided to take the empty site next to it and then move in the morning. At first, I was going to force her to move, but after thinking about it and after talking to her, I realized she was alone and headed west for unknown spaces, so I decided I did not want to report her and have her go some place unsafe. She was well-groomed and well-dressed, and had two big dogs with her, and she said she was an insurance adjuster, working online, and had decided to find a better place to live, etc. Not sure if that was all true, but if she had been a young man, I might have felt different. I suspect she came in after the entrance booth closed and just took an empty spot. I did not want a young woman spending the night in a parking lot, so I think I did the right thing. Who knows why she was really headed for an unknown destination out west?? At least here she would be safe.

Anyway, we chatted for quite a while, and then I moved into the next site, which was empty. I will move over one site in the morning because that one is much wider, and I won''t have to deal with spring mud stepping out of my door!! Ohio really needs to redo sites in a lot of its campgrounds because they are barely wide enough for an RV, let alone someone walking alongside of one without walking in mud.

I have been missing the alarm although it was only by 20 mins today ... need to get to bed earlier although last night it was by 15 mins... however I really need to start going to bed at a more reasonable time...I need to shop the freezer here more than I do ... my 2 dd's a sil and granddaughter came for lunch today they were suppose to take the ham to their freezer for some future meal.... but it got left in the fridge so shuffled things and found a spot for it...really did want it gone... but at least it is out of the fridge
reheated the fries and the partial burger that mom brought home from the restaurant the fries I reheated to long a bit crispy but I actually like them better than at the store think 1 less minuet would have been good not sure if mom liked the hamburger or not she said it was hot but she wasn't hungry so not sure if it worked or not... also going to try baking potatoes will see how that goes as well
sounds like everyone has been busy... and so energetic
Anita I think that they have released the 1950 census in sections I need to go in and see if I can find something to index but there is usually so many doing it that I can never find something that I want to do... at least the last time I looked for the census that was the case... they usually need people to check but I've never felt I could do that
have had a bird that I couldn't identify here think it's a dark eye junko saw it when went and googled it ... at least it looks similar
you all have a great day
