Wednesday April 20

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday April 20

Morning All, sunny and warmer today. Have a grocery pickup order at Bjs warehouse today. Will stop in Lowes to see if they have my tomato plant. Lowes garden center is a dangerous place for me. Lol Tree pollen is covering everything so allergies are bad. Beth, hope you are feeling better. ((Hugs)) Hoping spring is finally here. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all. Crispy morning here, but sun is shining. Rain later this evening. Warming trend coming, should be in 70 degree range by weekend, but below average after that again. Planting season on hold till mid May according to NWS. One lady quipped on the NWS FB page yesterday after reading what They said about delayed planting season, that she will be harvesting tomatoes off her tomato seedlings in her bathtub at this rate  Hope Lowes has your tomato plant Shirl.

Didn’t get to town yesterday. Decided to wait until today. Let the snow in the garden center at Lowes melt off the pavement and the sun to warm the area. So will be heading up there after my morning shower. Need few groceries from the store too.

Beth, hope you get over that cold. Katherine, you will be an expert at speaking French by the time you go back over there again. Certainly keeps you busy between that and watching your grandson.

Off to the shower and get my day stsrted here. Have a nice dsy and Stdy safe everyone.

Good morning, Shirl and all who follow! Beautiful day here in northern California.

BJ - I didn't know you had a grocery warehouse!! Have you been holding out on us? 8-)

Since I was getting a late start this year, I decided to go with veggie plants rather than seed, especially as someone on here said (was it you, Shirl?) that I don't need 50 tomato seeds, a few plants will do just fine (price for started plants is a little more, of course, but worth it - one never knows if seed will germinate).

I went to my local nursery to get the veggie plants - they had one of those Juliet tomatoes that Shirl has been talking about - but it was quite "leggy", the leaves were a battered yellow-green (instead of deep green) and the plant was already in bloom (not the best candidate for transplant in my already-in-the-80's-to-90's area) so I gave it a pass, and went to my local Lowe's instead (plants still small, leaves of good color, very healthy looking).

As Sue often says, at Lowe's "I dropped some green". Yowza! "Dangerous" is right! Veggie plants are expensive this year!

Beth, hope you are feeling better and over the worst of it.

Good Morning all, It is cloudy and sunny here, one minute it's sunny next it is cloudy. Supposed to get up to 60 today and 80's by Friday! Pippa is feeling much better I took her to a local vet yesterday and I could have gone to the one we go to 30 minute away and saved time. But I did want the local vet to have her records.
Sue, she was so tiny this winter I didn't want to take her out it was too cold for either of us :) she only weighed 2.5 pounds when we got her. I never used to give the kennel cough shot either but Emma is around so many dogs at the shows I worry plus the groomers won't give you an appointment without proof of vaccinations including kennel cough. I may groom her myself but do want the option. I showed her how to use the little steps to get on the couch this morning and then asked her to do it. She ran right up like she had been doing it forever. DH came home and she acted like she had no idea what I was asking her to do!
I am rather motivated this morning but now can't decide what to do first. So maybe I'll just go read my book and have lunch.

Beth I hope you are feeling better!!

Good morning!

BJ, that sounds like how my motivation goes - can't decide so go read or play a game. :)

I have recently had a couple of days when all I want to do is sleep! I got up around 8:30 yesterday, by 11 I was asleep in my chair and again about 5. After the first nap I 'undressed' the Christmas tree - still have to get its box from the garage. I have enjoyed the lights at night and had cute Easter egg ornaments on it. With longer days, I wouldn't be plugging in the lights as much.

Catherine, good for you with the French classes! I doubt my brain could begin to tackle that. Beth, sorry the cold has taken hold. The sun is out but temp in 40s with a little breeze.

I locked the office door yesterday afternoon (with a note to ring the bell) and no one rang the bell and I got a 3 hour nap. Usually that means I'm up all night but I slept 8 hours. So there's hope! Tomorrow I'm off. Other than running to the store for more milk and fruit for continental breakfast I don't know if I'll do anything else.

I made it through continental breakfast this morning, the clean up, etc and only want to sleep more. That couch is calling my name.

We have some nasty weather coming our way. Very windy, thunderstorms, and rain. So far it is just pretty breezy and occasional rain. No thunderstorms yet. So I decided I should run to the store. Got a few things, forgot a few things, nothing tragic and still spent $68 geez Now the sun is peeking out, but wont be here long I suspect.

I have been in a full hookup spot for two nights, and last night the temps were headed down to 26, so I went outside and unhooked my hose. Then, my water pump decided to work for a few hours, so I think it is losing its prime, meaning it has a likely air leak somewhere. Not working this morning, so have not gotten rid of jugs I was using. Headed to another doctor appointment today and picked up some groceries. Back at hookup site until tomorrow when I take this rig in so someone can look at pump and hopefully fix it. Then on to an electric only site for 6 days, so am worried that they might not be able to fix things. This pump is only a couple of months old, by the way.

Anyway, if you have a too tall tomato plant, just bury it half way, and it will grow roots along the buried part of the stem and overall do much better than if you planted it at regular level. I used to do this with all of my tomato plants and it really helped them grow faster. This is not true for a lot of plants, but it is true for tomatoes.

got vacuuming done .... that is a plus... and my two rows on the Swedish Weave... asked mom what she wanted for supper she didn't know so I said I guess it will be left over Easter dinner... she must not have wanted that as later she opened the freezer door then mentioned to me that spaghetti and meat balls sounded good but didn't see any meat balls I said I didn't think we had any but if we had sauce we could just have meat sauce that is if I have any small amount of hamburger in freezer she went and looked and didn't find any however the spaghetti sauce I've been put in a different area so I checked there and yes we had some so it was spaghetti and meat sauce and added leftover's to fridge :( but dd said that they would come over on Saturday so thinking it might get used then... and tomorrow night the Easter dinner left overs she really doesn't like this type of ham the spiral cut that is ... so think I will just have dd take it home and put in their freezer for them to use up...
tomorrow will need to go to post office as well as grocery store almost out of milk probably the cup of hot chocolate will use up all that I have... and will drink juice for breakfast... need to also stop at bank and if I can't see the banker then make an appointment see if I can get my title for the 5th wheel... and order checks need to send off an subscription renewal and one check left....
Lowe's nursery is a bad place for me to go... especially if I am planning on getting plants... but then any nursery I go to in the spring is costly looking forward to fixing up the containers even think of bringing over one of the larger containers that I have over at dd's... and I would like to get a bird bath I do have somewhere a water feeder it is also at dd's.......
hope you are feeling better Beth... those spring colds just aren't fun...
I used to have a neighbor/friend that was a beautician I'd call her up and say help I need the wild taken out... I need the wild taken out  I wish I had as much thickness on top as I have at the ends
I don't have an appointment on the 30th it's just not soon enough lol I will wait but boy it is bugging me I have of course in the 5th wheel some hair things that I usually use when it gets to this state but not remembered to look for them in the store and it's just a few days so won't look but boy I wish I'd a couple months ago...
that video was interesting... would hate getting caught when one of the ice blocks fell
I remember my husband planting tomatoes that way... hadn't thought of it as we can't really grow them here although to be honest I might get a bush and put it in a container see what happens

well you all have a great day

Good (late) evening!

It is really blowing wild here tonight! Sounds like a hurricane! Can hear things banging around outside! The temps are cooling down tho for a couple days.

I have the next 4 days off and have a lot to do around here. Have really been a sloth this past week and am really behind on housework. Gotta get busy tomorrow!

My manager has been really suffering with allergies this past week! I don't really have too many things here that I am allergic to altho my eyes get itchy sometimes. I think that is more from the dust blowing around tho. I left most of my allergies behind in Minnesota! They were really bad back there! I bought so much Sudafed that I figured they would come looking for my meth lab! :o

Judy, how many water pumps have you gone thru in that rig? Seems like you get a new one every year. Hope you can get this one fixed easily.

I forgot to water my tomato plants tonight! :o With this wind, they will be really dry by morning! I noticed the local farm near here has corn growing again (we get 2 corn crops per year here), so should have fresh corn by June sometime. Yum!! The stuff they have in the stores now looks like feed corn! Nasty!

I should take a refresher course in Spanish. I really need to at least learn a few key words and sentences for work. I had a Hispanic woman today who spoke very little English and I only remember a few words of Spanish so it was hard to communicate. She did find a photo in a style book to show me what she wanted. I must have gotten it right because she liked what I did. She had really long hair all one length and I cut about 10 inches off to just below her shoulders with lots of layers. We raised our prices by $2 so of course my tips are smaller

I am going to try to trap a cat tomorrow for the TNR. The black and white kitty with the bad ear and his orange girlfriend both need to be fixed, but if I can get just one of them, it would be good. They are both very skittish and usually only come out later at night. I need to get one trapped by 8pm to get to the clinic all the way in Palm Springs by 9, so we'll see...

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
