In an hour or so I'll move the RV. It'll be nice to be able to settle in my site and move some things into the motel office (kitchen, bathroom and extra room area). I'll probably spend little time in the RV except sleeping.

Good morning, Beth and all who follow.
LOL - since you asked. . . happy to do so!!
I am having a lot of fun getting a bit deeper into learning "product photography" (in order to photograph my jewelry items for my online Etsy jewelry 'shop' - a steep and difficult learning curve, for sure). Truthfully, it is being a bit of a challenge (both the photography and setting up my online store) but also being a lot of fun.
I have always had (as many of you here know) an intense interest in all things volcano. In trying to come up for a name for my Etsy shop I finally decided on "The Stone Wind".
A 'stone wind' is a pyroclastic flow, an event that can happen during a volcanic eruption. Imagine a ground-hugging wave of gas and stone, maybe 50 feet tall, temperature about twelve-hundred degrees, coming at you at around five-hundred miles per hour - and one begins to get the picture of what a pyroclastic flow is all about.
Basically, if one is standing around in reach of such a flow, one does not live to tell about it. This famously happened some years ago to a couple of celebrated vulcanologists who 'misjudged' their location when Mt. Unzen in Japan began to erupt:
https://volcano.oregonstate.edu/faq/who-were-maurice-and-katia-krafft-how-did-they-dieAfter I had spent a LOT of time designing a logo for my "storefront" (erupting volcanoes, towering ash clouds, hurling red-hot rocks, spurting flame) it finally occurred to me (I can be a slow learner sometimes) that these kinds of images are - perhaps (LOL) - not the most "welcoming" for someone looking to calmly browse an online jewelry store, but rather images of disaster and destruction that would more than likely motivate visitors to just get gone asap.
I was stumped! I finally decided to keep the 'stone wind' name (I still liked the actual name, and I'm guessing that few normal people would know what an actual stone wind is, anyway) and go with a more calming and welcoming image of a beautiful mountain lake at night. I call it my "Lake Tahoe" image, but I don't know what lake it is - the photo almost resembles Mt. Mazama, in Oregon (Mazama is the exploded volcano wherein Crater Lake National Park resides -
another volcano!). I got the image off of one of those free image sites.
That, of course led to it's own set of problems - i.e., how could my logo photo suggest a lake at night, without the photo being too dark? Wrestled with that for several more hours using PhotoShop (as stated above), what is there is what I finally settled on. At least for now.
Anyway, this whole Etsy thing is being a tremendous amount of fun for me, I have been motivated to work more steadily at making new jewelry pieces (I recently received a request to make a custom item for someone! A thrill for sure!) and this hobby keeping me quite occupied during the (hopefully) waning days of The Plague.
I do realize that 'women of a certain age' (like us!) already have all of the jewelry they will ever need, having put together their own personal collection over a lifetime.
On the other hand, if anyone is would like to take a look at my work (which, admittedly, is kind of strange and weird), I hope you will visit my Etsy store (link below). I welcome and appreciate input - you can message me using the link on my storefronts page (or, even better, just post your comments here!), and tell me why you like it (this helps in the creative process).
Thanks so much!
Ok, shutting up now, looking forward to reading what everyone else has been up to!
Thanks.
Anne
