April Fools!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

April Fools!

Postby dpf » Fri Apr 01, 2022 1:44 pm

I remembered to say Rabbits! I hope it brings rain and some warmer weather. Can't believe I'm the first one here. Going to chime in on a couple of posts from that last couple of days. When I saw that Karen bought an Anthurium I had to chuckle. When I helped a friend out in her flower shop they were big sellers for Valentine’s Day deliveries for men. We always called them peter plants. We had a new high school girl working and I had told her to go pick out a peter plant so I could dress it before it went out for delivery. She gave me a deer in the headlights look and asked what a peter plant looked like. I told her to go look and she would figure it out! She did.

Barbie, do everything you can to avoid taking statins. Change your diet. About four years ago I had an episode and the doctors thought I might have had a heart attack although they couldn’t tell so I was sent to the heart hospital where they did tests and they weren’t sure either. There didn’t seem to be any damage and the angiogram appeared good for “someone for my age”. (It seems that darn comment comes up a lot anymore) Anyhow, they sent me home with a prescription for Lipitor even though my cholesterol was about 150. Within a couple days of taking it my joints started swelling and hurting. It was a moving pain that went from wrists to knees to elbows and then finally my ankles. I could hardly walk. I contacted my primary provider. She saw the prescription I was given at the specialty hospital and couldn’t believe that I was on Lipitor let alone such a high dosage. Within two days after I stopped taking it, I was better. Turns out that they think that my episode was an esophageal spasm.

I’m attaching a picture of the grands. Every Monday night after the high school prom the music department has a Big/Little Dance for the preschool thru 6th grade for a fund raiser before the decorations are taken down. There is a grand march and the little girls go through with their dads and the boys with there mom. Bronc and Haddie attended. Then they had a dance. The Hokey Pokey, the Bunny Hop, the Chicken and the Flying Dutchman are the kids favorites.

Sheila, my sincerest sympathy about your brother.

I know there are several others I should mention but my brain isn’t registering anything right now! Hope April is a good month for everyone.

Hi Pat and any who follow. I can’t believe you are th only one on here either. Guess everybody’s busy todsy. Live the pic of the grands. Thry certainly are growing. And Bronc is every bit the cowboy. Is he still doing rodeo things?

Mom Nature won’t let go of Wi ter yet. This week has been a mix of sun, rain, freezing rain, snow, mild and cold. Had an inch of snow last night p, but then as NWS said, snow in April is not unusual. I would just like to see a day or two of sunshine to get a break away from the rest of this crazy weather.

Nothing new here. Did some shopping and returns this morning, neighbor stopped by to pick up the electric blanket throws I washed for her. her washer can’t handle them. Also took the plastic boxes etc., I saved for her when I cleared out basement stuff this winter.

Now killing time before I leave for fish fry at church.

Am on edge of Knoxville waiting in line at Blue Beacon with the big trucks. It usually takes an hour but I plan a meal or snack for the time I am waiting. Grabbed a cold piece of steak from last night and a slice of banana bread. Will take baked potato and peach later. Headed to campground in Jellico which is about 70 miles north of here. It is a very nice state park so will stay a week while I am waiting for Ohio to warm up a bit. Trees here and in Atlanta area are starting to get leaves and redbud are blooming. Also some azaleas so spring is definitely here.

Reason for truck wash is all the pine pollen on my vehicle. Left window open one day and rear table was yellow so kept them closed since!!

Barbie,
Do yourself a great favor and get the book…
.Cholesterol Clarity, “What the HDL is wrong with my numbers?”
Written by Jimmy Moore with Eric C Westman, MD

It was a life saver for me. I would never touch another statin after reading that book. He explains what cholesterol is, how our body needs it, and how big pharma uses it to rake in $$$$. Every one I know that took statins suffered muscle pain, etc.

You will learn the proper way to make sense out of your numbers….it’s about ratio.
I could go on and on but just wanted to tell you that because thank God, one day someone pointed me in the right direction.

Pat, Bronc is getting so big. It seems like he was just a baby.

I had lunch with 3 RV women today. One is full time, one from Waco, Texas and one from Kansas. We are from all over and know quite a few of the same women. The restaurant was probably glad to see us leave since we were there for almost 3 hours.

Judy, I wish there was a Blue Beacon on the way to my campout. Probably not a good idea to go to a coach owners rally with a dirty coach. Maybe I can do one of my half-a$$ wash jobs tomorrow.

Had a lazy day today. Sorted out some papers and some hit the shredder. I should do it every month but of course I probably wont but I have high aspirations. I am starting my spring cleaning and sorting. Not alot to do but need to get some of the deep down dirt areas.

Well Pat, I will never look at my Anthurium plant the same way LOL This one has some serious growing to do yet. My Christmas or Thanksgiving cacti are doing quite well. They were sold as Christmas cacti but bloomed at Thanksgiving so who knows. I am getting anxious to get out in the yard and start planting BUT need to wait until the end of the month at least. We could have a cold snap so I am just being patient.

Thanks Karen, I will check out that book! I have already learned quite a bit just this week! I don't like to take drugs of any kind if I can treat things naturally/homeopathically.

I have been pretty busy today doing this and that. Sold a couple more things and am down to 3 things to sell and a few things to take to the thrift store. Got all my cardboard boxes cut up and hauled off. Need to do a little more cleanup on the deck yet. Put up another curtain rod and curtains on the porch. Just one more to do on the back corner but that is where all my bins are piled up and I can't get to the window until I go thru and organize those.

I had a couple people tell me yesterday and this morning that their text messages to me weren't going thru. :o I have been having issues with my phone for awhile. I bought a new one a few months ago but never switched over to it. So I did that today. I am hoping it all works now.

I borrowed a ladder from the couple who loaned me their golf cart for the summer. I was able to finally get up to the kitchen light fixtures to change out the bulbs. I have vaulted ceilings so the lights are up about 10 feet high. Two of the three lights work now. Not sure why the 3rd one isn't working but must be a loose connection. All three are on the same switch. The other two will do just fine tho. Glad I have a ladder to use now. In a month or two I will need to use it again to cover up my skylights for the summer. I noticed a lot of heat coming from those last summer. I have those silver sheets to put in there (forget what that is called :? ).

So lots of little stuff done today even tho it doesn't look like much of an improvement.

Back to work tomorrow... luckily it will be a shorter day. I am off at 3pm instead of 6. Yay!

I'm at my home for the next 7 months. No, my site wasn't ready so I'm in a temporary one. Guess what? The maintenance man worked on it this afternoon and I'll move over there tomorrow.

Barbie, I didn't have so many people to give me all this advice 20+ years ago. After researching the best I could I discovered Strontium as a natural method and my cholesterol and triglycerides were both good when retested. I wasn't able to get the brand I was taking a couple years ago and didn't keep up with it. Now I'm taking it (different brand) and a good friend brought hers down with red yeast rice, so I'm taking both. Works for me. I hate that doctors always want meds, which imo should be the last resort.

Karen, good to hear from you and to learn about that book. I read one, I can't remember the name, about how important cholesterol is to our bodies but that sideshow l somehow that's been forgotten. And that it's natural for the numbers to rise as we age. Also, my good cholesterol always brought my total cholesterol in range, but doctors just wanted to focus on the one number. They seem to be getting better about that, at least.

No April Fools jokes today. I did hear about a good one yesterday at the eye doctors office. The woman who checked my eye started telling about how she stopped doing any jokes on April Fools day 22 years ago. She had walked me out of her office to the edge of the waiting room where she finished telling that she told her husband she was pregnant and turned out she really was! The whole waiting room full of people broke up laughing.
Pat the picture of Bronc and Hattie is wonderful!!
I wish my DH would stop taking a statin I'm going to check out the book Ackcminnie recommended. I think a lot of the meds that are prescribed are unnecessary.
I forgot to say rabbits but maybe April will be a better month anyway.

other than go to the post office and get myself on track with my Swedish Weave I didn't do much oh yes read scriptures and listened to a podcast there are a couple that I like to listen to..
trying to figure out supper tomorrow night had beef veggie soup tonight but just not sure about tomorrow.. my sister in law said that her daughter has put hot dogs in the air fryer... meant to get some potato chips we don't eat them a lot but like having them on hand for those times when the crunch is needed...guess I could get the hot dogs out and have hot dogs and tots with them but then I didn't get mom's chocolate milk don't have enough to last till Monday I get a gallon and put it into a 2 qt so that she can pour the milk herself.
made my hot choc didn't get enough of anything in it... and I was so afraid that I put too much of chili powder, cinnamon, and cayanne in it... don't taste any of it and not much of flavor... oh well there is always next time
Becks catalog came today will be fun looking not getting anything but will be fun looking that is unless they have a Sheila's Perfume that I will get then have to figure out where to put it...
Pat kid's are just growing up so much and thank you so much... in fact I'm not sure if I've expressed thanks to all of you it always helps to know that people care...
I wish that I was more on the up take when it comes to saying things but it comes to my mind hours or days later  mom has mentioned several times that she thinks the neighbor across the street had moved so the other day when she said it again I asked why she thinks they have moved ... well because I never see a light" that from the person that if two lights are on one goes off??? if I'd been thinking I'd said something to effect that probably other's think the same of us with how dim the lights are but then I got a new light bulb and can actually see with it ... so glad to have found it...
Irmi sent me the jalapeno popper recipe it looks so good she tried to post it here but kept getting a error message...
you all have a great day

I downloaded that book to Kindle and am about 1/3rd of the way thru it. Very interesting! From everything I am reading so far, it sounds like inflammation is more the cause of heart disease than cholesterol is.

I discovered that the third light, the one that didn't work, is actually on a different switch that works with the light in front of the bathroom. So it does work, but I think it is a little too bright for that location (in front of my bedroom door), so I am going to put a lower wattage bulb in it.

Sheila, I can't even imagine adding chili powder and cayanne pepper to hot chocolate!
