Monday??

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday??

Postby JudyJB » Mon Mar 28, 2022 10:24 am

Where is everyone? I am in a campground on Lake Lanier, GA, northeast of Atlanta, and went out to pick up a rental car this morning. Back and eating homemade crepes with blackberry sauce. Yum.

Got a lot of organizing and other stuff to do today, but tomorrow will go out to visit aunt in memory care.

Also, enjoying the cold air here in north Georgia. Went down to 45 last night, which means there will be very few, if any, little biting monsters here. Headed to northern TN on Friday for a week, which hopefully will enable Ohio to warm up a bit and be done with snow!!

Morning Judy and All, windy, freezing temps and snow showers. Lounging in warm pjs. Too cold and gas too expensive so just hanging at home. Still missing parts for projects and don’t feel like scouring stores so no news here. Balcony plants covered to protect from temperatures. Hoping for #1daughters 80 tulip bulbs to survive. Just grateful to be warm and have food in freezer. Be safe

Dang, operator error and I lost my post.

Am I the only person who had never heard of Tajin? I splurged at the last HEB stop and purchased pre-sliced cucumbers. They came with sliced limed and small packets of Tajin. Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I put lime on cucumbers. Who'd have thunk it. It's good. So just now I opened a packet and added Tajin and lime to cucumbers. Wow, good also. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I may have to buy some. It's made of mild chili peppers, lime and sea salt. I think I'd like it on pork chops. It's not really spicy which is why I think it works on cucumbers. Ha, I'm overthinking this. Lol

Shirl, I awoke to 33 degrees outside (I love that the low for the night is actually in the morning of the next day. I've never understood that.) But I'm glad to have electric and to not be using up my propane right now.

Judy, good news about the cooler nights ridding you of those pesky mosquitoes.

Good afternoon ladies!

Judy, so happy to hear you are out of the mosquito infested country! Shirl, I don't miss MD's lingering cold temperatures but am sure your veggies will be just fine. Beth, I hear you on the morning temperatures being the coldest of the day. I usually get up well before 5:00 to meet my walking friends at 7:00, but like to shower, dress, put on makeup, etc. at a leisurely pace. Whatever the temperature is at 5:00, it usually drops another 3 - 4 degrees by the time they get here. They often tease me because I almost always wear jeans and have on a jacket and they're wearing shorts and a short sleeved tee shirt. I'm not comfortable at 55 degrees being dressed for summer.

This day is racing right along and I am just having lunch. I can see!! This eye has healed so much faster than the other I am amazed and very pleased. Judy it's good to hear you are out of Florida. I've always wanted to go to Lake Lanier after reading about it. Tina I'm so sorry to hear your DH has covid, I hope you don't get it. Also sorry to hear about Audrey!
It is sunny and not too cold here today which makes all the flowering trees look even more beautiful.
I'm off for a nap!
Just saw your post Irmi, by the time I did all that getting ready I would need to rest before my walk! Walking is more fun when you have friends to walk with. I walked with a neighbor for years unless it was pouring rain. One time it was really cold and snowing, all of a sudden we realized our eyelashes were frozen! It was a very odd feeling.

Beth, thanks for the seasoning tip. I don’t like seasoning hot and limit sodium. Just ordered low sodium from Walmart. Sounds like a nice change.

Afternoon on all. Cold here too. Was 9° With Wi d chill of. -2°, when I got up this morning. Went to town to run couple errands and do some grocery shopping. Wind was cold, but my coat is windproof, so that helps. When I got home, put the groceries away and took the dogs for a nice l g walk. Temp was up to 29° But real feel was 12°. But it wasn’t bad walking as we were out of the wind for the majority of it. Plus the sun is popping in and out of the clouds.

Tina, sorry to hesr DH has Covid. As others said, hope you don’t get it. Also hope Audrey is doing okay. Beth, prices you are paying for gas are same as here, although with my charge card, I got it for 3.84 today. The stores station is usually 3-4 cents below the other stations.

As to RV’s. From what I am seeing on one of my FB RV groups, people are chomping at the bit to get out and go camping, some already are in the downstate areas cause the weather is warmer, or was, than the northern part. Stdte park reservations are going fast as well. People are also inquiring on my one UP group site about places to visit and stay in the UP. The camper shows are packed with people. So I think they are going to go regardless. Been cooped up too long by Covid.

BJ, glad your eye is doing so well. Shirl, I’m sure your garden will be fine. Annie, great to see you posting again. Have missed you. Love your handle “Hermit Annie”. As to Covid and variants, They say this will probably always be with us, just like the flu. So all one can do, is just get out and go about one’s business and enjoy life. No guarantee how many years we have left on this earth. . If you don’t feel comfortable, just wear a mask. By and large, a lot of us, actually the majority, don’t wear them here, but there are those who do for whatever reason they need or want to.

Guess I better get some supper goi g here. So catch ya all later.

Good afternoon. I been busy today with some outside stuff then took Emma to meet the new vet. I really like her. She is older and she owns the business. Started it in her house, then opened one in Canyonville, home of 7 Feathers casino. And now has this one in Myrtle Creek which is 20 miles from me but all freeway so no biggee. She came in an asked if Emma was a Tibetan Spaniel LOL She said she had only seen one other one. Emma was such a good girl too. She is an economy dog tho and wouldn't take a treat of course. The best part was she only charged me $46 and gave her a thorough checkup and now I am established somewhere.

Now my goal is to find a Family Practice doc here in Roseburg. Heck I dont even care if he is a good one because FP docs usually refer people to specialists if it is serious. But I can pick my own I dont need a referral. I usually know what I want or need anyway. LOL

BJ glad your eye is healing up well. Dont forget the drops LOL

Great news about the vet, Karen. Ty will take any treat lol. BJ, awesome news about this eye healing so fast.

After watching the weather the next couple days I just called the office here and extended my stay 2 more days, leaving Thursday. Heck, leaving tomorrow as I had planned meant windy and rain mixed with snow for part of it. Looks like it'll be much better leaving Thursday. Called my friends at the park and my site isn't ready and might not be when I get there. I know they've had a tough winter, but I suggested they take care of those problems last fall before winter did it's thing. Of course, that didn't happen. Last year I changed sites 4 times and part of my perks this year was being able to park immediately next to the motel office. I'm not a happy camper, but maybe having and extra day or two they'll take care of it. Doubtful because now the water needs to be turned on to all the motel buildings etc. So I'm venting. My employees aren't expected until next week. So maybe I'll do nothing until they arrive lol

It seems that we (as a people) are feeling finished with Covid. Unfortunately, it seems that Covid is not yet finished with us.

Anne, you are so right. I still wear my mask at work and in most stores.

I worked today at another shop. That shop is so messed up and can't keep stylists or managers and always seems to have lots of problems. They are always busy tho and most of their customers are well-off snowbirds, mostly retired men. So haircuts are really quick and easy with them and they tip really well. I did 16 haircuts today and got just over $100 in tips. Also, there were 5 customers from MN, 3 of them from the area I grew up in! Small world! If that shop wasn't so badly managed, I wouldn't mind working there. Not much further from my house than the one I work at now.

Storms moved in to the valley around 3pm today. We got some rain here finally but not a lot. Still spritzing a little now and then. Just enough to make polka-dots on my dusty Jeep! Very windy as well. Nothing new there. Nice and cool out tho!

Now I have the next 4 days off. Will see if anyone shows up for putters golf tomorrow. If not, I will just go around the course and practice anyways. Getting my windshield replaced tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow is my daughter's 21st birthday. Will be a bittersweet day for me...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Judy, don't go North too fast. I don't think winter has given up yet. There's more storms headed this way on Wednesday. Hope we don't have more tornados. I need to try some crepes, you make them sound good.

BJ, glad your eye is doing good.

Tina, hope you and the man in the recliner are feeling ok. I'm a little concerned about being on a bus next week with a bunch of strangers. New Orleans has lifted it's mask mandate. People use to have to show the vaccination card to get in restaurants. If some people wear masks I probably will too. I need to put some hand sanitizer in the camper. I had found a quart size bottle when Covid started and keep it in my car. I am still using it when I go in and out of places.

Saturday I had something that looked like a pimple on my gums. If I pushed on it puss came out. I went to the dentist today and I have an abscess. Tomorrow I get a root canal. The dentist gave me a prescription for antibiotics. I thought I would have to take them for a while before they would do a root canal but things must have changed. I was worried about my trip next week. I need to get my motorhome out and give it a run since it hasn't moved since January. Some of my friends are camping in Abbeville this coming weekend but I don't think I'll go. I'm not organized enough to get ready for 2 camping trips. My son is going to keep Sugar so I have to bring her over there on Sunday. She is not going to be happy. He has a dog. Sugar gets along with his dog ok but they don't really play.

Karen, glad you found a vet you like. I don't think my vet does anything for $46. I had to fill a prescription for me and Sugar today. Mine was $1 on medicare and Sugar's was $24. I wonder if I can get her on medicare. One good thing is you can use Good Rx even on dogs. I need to find a doctor for myself too. I keep saying that but don't look very hard.

Good idea to wait a couple of days on the weather, Beth. This storm is suppose to be a bad one again.

made it to pick up my mom's RX today and a trip to Verizon got my new charger way expensive but actually don't know of any other place her in town to get one... probably if I'd just asked there would have been and now that I think about it probably office max type place oh well got the right one for the phone... my youngest called and said she was on her way home had hoped that she would go this way but her almost two year old woke up during the night throwing up so decided it was best not to come by ....
this afternoon I sat down with my Swedish Weave and visited with my sister in law in Iowa... we talked quite awhile.. we do that occasionally  discovered as we were talking that I'd made an error in the first row easy fix but perhaps I ought to be more careful or not multitask  it's fixed now now to decide on which green to use ...
I use that Tajin it's really good on mango's have used it on other things...never thought about using on cucumbers will have to try it :)
made pork chops tasted good
but saw this recipe that I will have to try on all recipes
Anne meant to mention last night that it was really good to read a post from you
Barbi hope you had someone to golf with...
we actually was warm today up to 55 I think suppose to cool off and perhaps rain that is a big perhaps... a bit windy but not bad
Beth enjoy your stay over if they are not ready for you no since being in a big hurry... it's too bad though that they didn't listen to you though...
Martha were are you going on the bus ?
