Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday March 26

Morning All, Have had quite a bit of rain and freezing night temps predicted for the next 4 days. Will cover the balcony garden which is growing nicely. Still waiting for a tulip flower to appear. Waiting for Dollar Tree to restock 6” bowls so I can make a solar lamp for balcony bistro table. Seems like a lot of waiting going on. Looking forward to lunch with Porch Friend at Olive Garden today. Better get morning chores done. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all. Cloudy and chilly here in Northern Michigan. Bit of light snow last night. Good weekend to be inside. Fence guy came yesterday and moved the back fence line. Temporarily in place and dogs can’t get out. Will be back on next nice weather day to finish tightening that part down and move the remaining side fence. Then will just have the front line to do. The dogs were out exploring their extended yard this morning and they both “christend it”

Shirl, how do you make a solar light with the bowls? Sounds like your garden is coming right along. Tina, sorry to hesr about Audrey, but at last it’s treatable. I still remember her when she was a pup and you brought her along one the trip to MI. Beth, sorry you got hit with high gas prices. Ours have dropped below the $4 mark and we’re $3.93 in town. But still over $4 in many places. BJ, glad your eye surgery went well and you are on the mend. Barbie, your business cards are very creative and eye catching.

House cleaning on agenda this morning, then probably some wood crafts and maybe some genealogy. Thought about going up to the store, but will do that after Mass tomorrow. After the funeral on Thursday, a special Mass yesterday and a return back to the church later for Fish Fry, think the truck will stay in the garage today.

So, since house isn’t going to clean itself, best get moving and git er done. Have a nice dsy all.

Good morning Shirl, Sue & all that check in!

Shirl, those are some really neat ideas on different ways to make solar lights. I can't wait to see yours when they are done. Sue, the dogs are going to love their new backyard. Beth, safe travels to your new destination. A 40 cent savings per gallon on gas is certainly worth checking around for cheaper prices. Tina, I hope Audrey is okay. BJ, that was a long wait for your appointment to start. Barbie, I like your business cards, too. Karen, I hope your cough leaves soon. I'm so happy to hear that everyone survived the crazy weather everywhere.

We woke up to temperatures in central FL in the low 50's this morning and should get into the mid 70's this afternoon. Lots of folks are leaving the resort for the summer, so it is really thinning out here. So the activities here have all but stopped. Other than going on morning walks with a couple friends and Happy Hour Friday evenings, we find other things to do to keep us occupied. Have a good day everyone!

Wow, freezing temps in eastern places, while here in CA we are having record heat-probably to 80 here again today! It's already 68 at 9:30. Daily breezes set off my motion detector camera / light.
Our gas prices drift ever higher! Up another dime yesterday to $5.29 at cheapest (Costco) and highest is $5.69. It's brutal trying to get the cheaper prices with lines blocks long.
Beth, travel safe.
Shirl, your garden projects amaze me! BJ, glad you are on the healing side of this, after that long wait. In 2019, I had over an hour wait with each eye in a room of 5-6 other patients on gurneys, which fluctuated as patients came and went.
My shoulder still hurts, but I'm otherwise good. Just tired of not being able to use rt arm much.
Barb, I look forward to seeing your gourd projects as you progress.

Saturday gals

Postby SoCalGalcas » Sat Mar 26, 2022 1:22 pm

Good Morning, Sheila, that kid who was in the truck that got caught in the tornado is going to receive a new truck from Chevrolet!!! A bit of nice news for a change!
Gasoline is about $6 around town here. Ubers are really hurting.
Do you know what “base” jumping is? A man (idiot) did a BASE jump off a 23 story building. His chute did not open. He wasn’t a kid either.
BJ… hoping your eyes are doing OK. Tina, poor Audrey. You will be a hot shot at giving shots before long.
Going to watch some softball on TV.

Lyn, so good to see you post more often! Sometimes you can't fix stupid (base jumping). Very good news about the young man's new truck - that video was unbelievable!

I almost posted on Friday!

Judy, I don't think tortoises must care. I had one outside my camper in Florida and watched a male in hot pursuit!

Tina, sorry Audrey is sick. Barbie, love your card, but I have been wondering what your plan is to create enough to sell. Your own little 'assembly' line? BJ, that's quite a wait time, but I'm glad you have had the second eye done. Here's to great vision! Beth, the gas prices have had me second guessing my road trips, but flying is such a pain! Shirl, love the solar light options!

So far no tracking number for the phone that was to ship yesterday. I finally started sorting out all the plastic drawers that came out of the camper - nothing like multiple junk drawers. Need to start house cleaning as BFF is coming Wednesday evening for a few days.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Lyn, some people are so stupid. I don't like to be up high and I certainly wouldn't jump off something. One of the blogs I read the guy and his grandson went to watch some sky diving and they signed up and jumped.

That's nice that the kid gets a new truck. Chevrolet got a lot of advertisement from that video.

The clover in the yard was getting tall so I mowed this morning. Went to town in the truck to get gas in the truck and some cans of gas for the mower. A nice young man was kind enough to load the gas cans for me. My shoulder is not going to be happy with me unloading the cans. Gas at Walmart is $3.89. They must have up the limit on my credit card. It use to cut off at $100 at gas stations. The truck and 2 cans of gas was $101.06. The station wasn't very busy thank goodness. People are so impatient I was afraid they would be aggravated with me filling up gas cans.

It got down to 49 last night but it's up to 80 today. We are suppose to have more storms on Wednesday..

I always wanted to do a parachute jump. But have reconciled that those days are behind me. No way off a building, etc.

Judy, gas prices had reached $3.99 in south Texas but went down into the $3.80's before I left. I lucked out my first fill up for the RV I found a station at 3.749. I've been paying attn because some towns have been over $4.20. I filled up today at $3.889 versus the $4.25 where i had planned to fill. So happy I plan around 1/2 tank so can check around. I'll fill both in Roswell and Albuquerque tomorrow, hopefully the 3.82 both have on gas buddy holds. Then I'll fill somewhere before crossing into Arizona. Arizona is even higher than what I'm finding for Utah, but close. Lowest showing for Page, AZ is 4.78! Kanab, UT shows $4.64 and is usually 20 to 25 cents higher than Page. Weird. Luckily I'll only have one fill up for the RV at that price. Or I should say from one of those places. Out of curiosity I checked Tucson and they are in the $4.15 to $4.25 range. Flagstaff shows $4.49 right now so I'll probably fill there and top off in Kanab.

I've never watched gas so closely before lol. But with such fluctuations I'm trying to pay the least I can. Martha, my card stopped at $125. I get the best discount on this card or I'd use my other one that never stops anymore. Although they could have changed that, too.

I'm at a city park... Free site with electric. Definitely not fancy and close sites but nice fora quick overnight. I stopped today at a airplane museum. Small but nice. I could have spent the night but decided no wind, nice driving, so continued on. Planning a long day tomorrow, but nothing set in stone.

Since it fluctuates, I always thought it was the fuel station that decided when the pump would stop not the card. I don't have a low limit on my card. A few years ago when prices were up, they would stop at $75 or $100 and it was frustrating.

I suppose some stations can, but I know cards do. Mine that's stopping at $125 is a MasterCard. My Visa has never stopped. Like you say, it hasn't been a problem while prices were less. Frustrating now but in a short time I'll only be filling the car and won't reach those levels.

I just bought gas on the way home from work today. $5.79 and that was at Arco which is cheaper than most average gas stations. Those places are over $6. Arizona gas was about $1.25 per gallon less than in CA when I was there in February. Beth, at least once you get to Utah, you won't be driving much once you start working. Maybe prices will be down some by fall. Lets hope! Martha, Walmarts here don't have gas stations so that isn't an option for me.

I think the cards will motivate me to get busy on gourd projects. I really didn't need a box of 100 but couldn't get less. They will last a long time! My first plan is to make some different gourds and gourd ornaments for the craft fair here next December, and see how that goes. Will give me about 6-7 months to get enough made for that. I think the hardest part will be actually parting with my gourds! I get attached to them!

Where is the video of the kid caught by the tornado? That truck probably saved his life!

Went to check on Lily after work. She is so sweet! She just can't get enough love! But boy does she shed! My blue work pants were white by the time I left!

Like my brother said once, if someone had a gun to my head to jump out of an airplane, I would say "pull the trigger". I don't even like to be inside an airplane, let along ever jump out of one! :o

Another 96* day today. However, Monday will be a different story. High of 60, with high winds and rain! Yep, they promised rain, but I will believe that when I see it!

Lola seems to have lost some weight. Can't see it because of all her fur but I can feel her bones more. I just ordered a case of Blue Buffalo canned cat food for sensitive digestive systems, in chicken flavor. So will see if I can add a couple pounds on her with that. Will slowly integrate it in her diet to make sure she doesn't have any adverse affects. Will still give her the dry food, maybe even mix them some. Also, I can add her CBD oil in that to make her joints feel better.

There was a big mulch fire down by the Salton Sea this afternoon and the smoke made it's way up here. Looked like a long brown cloud stretched across the horizon. Will probably burn for a few days at least. Luckily, it is in the desert so no worry about turning into a bigger fire.

Back to work in the morning...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I took my computer with me but didn't even make it out of my bag I had it in...wish I could say the same for my phone charger... not sure where it is but it's not home... suspect the motel... I took it had it on the bed thought I'd picked it up but either didn't or it fell out and I didn't notice.. dang guess I will need to go get a new one... it's hard to describe a phone charger to someone when you really don't pay attention to what it looks like  we left on Thursday night even though the viewing wasn't until Friday night it made more sense to me so that we wouldn't be late to it started at 5:30 ended at 7 my dd gets off at 5 takes an hour to get to me and and hour and half to get to the viewing so it worked best to go Thursday...
niece got some good rates for us 70 dollars for two nights can't complain although it wasn't really easy for her to get around and then the shower wasn't a hand held one... which made it really hard to give her a shower so it didn't happen.... :x took her to get her hair cut and permed looks so much better... she got several comments... was so glad that I could get her an appointment... my brother's funeral was today he was way into family, scouting, church, country and geocashing not sure in what order  probably depending upon what was happening.. they had all those who had been into scouting to either wear their uniforms or sash even his wife wore her uniform the whole family is into scouting for the most part... I was really surprised he was buried in his dress blues... and the military part was awesome...
we were surprised when we heard that he was going to be buried in the Victor cemetery which is were many of our family was buried... had thought that they would choose a cemetery nearer where they live had a set of twin grandson's that died at a day of age... really expected that would be the cemetery they would choose... was told that he was being buried just west of my husband boy was it just west of his... in fact we could see a corner of Larry's vault :o the kids were surprised that when my niece told me that that I actually went to look... we have a deep belief that families can be eternal... and have just pictured that Heavenly reunion with his dad sister brother brothers in law sister in law those two precious little boys not to mention grandparents going way back... as well as aunts and uncles... it was a great time for all I'm sure...
he didn't like to sing so the last hymn we either recalled the words or hummmed it I found it interesting that they chose a hymn that I understood was my dad's favorite hymn and one that we had played during my dad's and sister's funeral... it's been a tough week but all will be better..
she kept saying the order was backwards and parents aren't suppose to out live their kids...
very tired knees really hurt forgot my alive today
Tina how long will you have to give Audrey the shots??
I got Sketchers the last shoes I bought cause they sounded like they would be good... I have a heck of a time getting them on cause the back is somewhat "soft" in part of it and it keeps folding in when I put them on I really need to find a good slip on shoe..
those are some neat cards Barbi you ought to build up a inventory and bring them to Q
Irmi what are your summer plans?
a bomb threat??? yikes!!
people never cease to amaze me in their stupidity to jump off a building and hope the parachute opens it's sad sadder for the family...
got gas today at Walmart thinking it would be cheaper than in Jackson it was 4.37 Jackson was still 4.27 had expected it to have gone up diesel is 4.99 in some places over 5 right now glad I'm not traveling nor filling a diesel tank mom's car is almost as bad as filling a diesel though...
you all take care

When my son died I said I can't plan another funeral but some how I managed to give him a military funeral. I knew he was proud of his service.

Sheila, my favorite shoes are the Easy Spirit slip on shoes. I had about 4 pair of them and finally threw the oldest ones away.
