Friday, March 18th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good morning. Midway through March already. Tine seems to fly by and once we switch to DST, seems more so. Takes dsylight a bit to get here, so unless one has to be to work, one tends to not move too quick, then you realize what time it is and morning half gone :o Then supper time sneaks up on you because the nights are longer and you are busy doing something until you look at the clock and realize the time. I see Congress is working on making DST permanent. I for one am not too keen on that. Those of us in the northern states would be at a serious disadvantage in the winter. It was pointed out n our local newscast, the taking the Winter solstice for example, our morning sunrise is usually around 8:09 a.m., but if DST were in effect it would be more like 9:15 a.m. which means half our morning would be in the dark. Days are cloudy enough during the winter, without dragging the darkness into the morning longer. Granted, it would extend daylight in the evenings as time goes on.

Carol, sorry it took you awhile to get through the grocery line. I have on occasion moved to another aisle too because of the slower pace of it, which is one reason I use self checkout. But then I am retired, so time isn’t of importance unless I have to be someplace by…. I wouldn’t want a job as a cashier these days with everything being done electronically like it is, and discounts and coupons and some people use their phones for coupons are for shopping and trying to keep track of it all. The store that I do the majority of my shopping has a set up where by you can scan your groceries as you shop with your phone, and then run the information through on a special checkout line from your phone , pay and go. Some people who have their own grocery bags, fill bags are they shop and by. the time they get to check out, they’re all set to go.

Barbie, good luck with your sale. Your neighborhood sounds like mine where neighbors get to know each other.

Shirl, wonder if one of those patio mats that are used for camping would work in your balcony. They air and moisture through but not dirt. You could use it in the warm months and take it in during the winter. I haven’t used something similar to that on my front porch which is a covered porch and my wood has been fine. In fact it might actually be better because it keeps it from getting scuffed up from walking and stuff.

We wound up with a beautiful 60° day here yesterday. The dogs and I took a nice long walk as the roads are clear with a exception here and there where some slush or water still lays. Today is cooler with rain in forecast and possible snow/rain mix tonight and tomorrow.

So todsy I am going to work on wood crafts etc. but first need to go over to a neighbors and turn up their heat. Thry are in their way home from wintering in FL. So guess I should get a move on here. Have a nice dsy all.

Good morning. It looks like another sunny and warm day here today with rain coming in this evening into tomorrow. Wow, 3 days in a row, a record!! Rascal and I took another walk yesterday after a couple quick stops. Finally loaded the recycling into the car and got rid of all that. It was a busy spot, I was the 4th car to pull up! Don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people there at one time! I need to get to Lowes or Home Depot for some outdoor light bulbs. Winter hasn’t been kind to them, I guess! Sue, I can see your point on DST where you are. Never thought of it that way. Well, morning is half over and I should get moving and accomplish something! Have a great day!

No matter where we are there's good and bad in both. I prefer we quit changing. I prefer dst, but my Casita is in Arizona and doesn't change from regular time. I hate losing daylight so early year round. But especially retired we can change our schedules to work with it. The couple winters I spent in Alabama I never got used to dark coming by 4:30... Just being on the other side of the same time zone caused that. So we adjust. And as I said, I'd easily deal with no more time changes whichever one is chosen. If everyone complains and argues that they're against one or the other, I'll bet things will stay as they are, which personally I'd hate.

Just hanging around hoping the propane company makes their appearance. The family cleaning their mom's trailer across from me is pressure washing it today. Boy does it need it! They've been doing so much work on it too make it safe for her. She's in her 90's and didn't come south last year or this and really wants to be back here so they are doing what's necessary so she can be here next winter.

Good morning,

Sue, good point about DST year round, but being a night owl, morning light doesn't mean much to me. :D I know a lot of people are against self checkout, but I love it! Local Walmart has changed theirs to 20 items or less which is a bummer. Sheila, that Signed, Sealed, Delivered has more than one movie. Barbie, love the gourds - so creative. Beth, apparently you have a picky manager there and I have one that doesn't do a darn thing! Fire department said nothing could be stored under stairs, but new neighbor was told he could store kids' bikes and scooters there - right outside my door. I'd love to have more Louisiana food!

This has not been a good month and I will be so glad to move into April! So much for saying 'rabbits'!

Sister-in-law had bladder tumor removed and chemo, but cancer is recurring. Looks like she'll be having surgery.

Sun is trying to break through. Got up so early that I think I'll head into town.

Just got back and settled after a long bike ride at Shark Valley. It is about 15 miles east of here and in the Everglades National Park. There is a 16-mile paved roadway for trams and it doubles as a bike and walking path, although I really don't think anyone should be walking that distance in this heat. The path goes back to a viewing tower, and there are restrooms and water there. A lot of people were renting bikes for the ride since they probably flew to Florida from northern states.

I started out this morning with long pants and a thin cotton jacket over my t-shirt, but I could not handle just getting my bike off my rack, so I ended up changing into shorts and spraying my arms and legs heavily. Luckily, there was a nice breeze, but I did get a couple of bites, in any case.

I really like daylight savings time because I do not drive at night, and in the winter it is often a challenge to get to a campground and set up before dark. Having that extra hour to get somewhere takes a lot of the driving pressure off me.

Good morning (barely) I like reading about DST. I am super happy about it. I dont do much functioning in the morning until after 9am anyway so I dont care if mornings are dark. I care more in the evening. I dont have to worry about getting home before it gets dark as I dont drive at night anymore. I love puttering around the yard in the evening or just sitting enjoying the weather from my deck. Wont go into effect if it passes the house until November 2023. Might or might not still be here LOL I too am a fan of the self checkouts. They just seem to go faster. I love that Costco now has them too because I usually dont buy that much there anyway so hate being in line behind the full carts. Walmart has mostly self checkouts here but they are often out of bags which upsets people to no end. I take my own bags so I dont get upset. Deliveries are hit or miss I guess with their bags.

Beth I hope you get your propane. Shirl I havent planted anything yet but will get busy in April depending on weather. I am resisting buying any flowers for now. It is hard tho.

well going to go outside and sweep off the decks then run the vacuum and call it a day LOL

It's already up to 80. All the rain went North of here again. We didn't get a drop. The wind had blown the trash bin over but thank goodness the trash didn't run at 4:00 am again and I got it picked up.

I went to town but forgot to get dog food and bring a GoodRx coupon for Sugar's medicine. Guess I'll be going to town in the morning.

Beth, hope your propane truck shows up. I need to get some the next time I head out. My camp trailer at the lake needs to be pressure washed in the worst way. I have a pressure washer but I have never tried to use it so don't know if it still works. There is a spray that I use on the house siding that works good. I need to bring some of that if I ever make it to the lake.

I also love DST. Once it gets dark, I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I am more active outside when it is lighter for longer in the afternoon/evening.

I guess I missed one heck of a wild St Patty's Day party yesterday! At the dance, people started jumping into the pool with their street clothes on! :o Ended up with about 30+ people in the pool!   I guess the liquor was flowing heavily all day and evening! Lots of hangovers this morning, I am sure!

These two are about to jump in too! She looks like she is asking herself if she is crazy to do this! Lol!

I got up before 7am and put out my signs and balloons and then got stuff organized on the tables, etc. Got a lot of people between just before 8am to about 10am and then it died off after that, but I think I did pretty good. Sold a lot of stuff I really didn't think would sell. I finally sold the screen room late this afternoon after posting it on our FB page. Haven't counted up the money yet. I did two haircuts this afternoon and also got a couple more interested clients here in the park.

I am wiped out tonight! Whew! Got everything put away under the carport for now. I work all weekend and Monday so will deal with it next week sometime.

Need to find some dinner now...

Update...I made $208.00 with the sale! Yay!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good job on the sale, Barbie.

My propane is full. Yay. I'm going to HEB tomorrow and hoping to buy a bunch of their meals and freeze them. So I'll actually go in the store.

Anita, don't you love when others get told they can do what you were told can't be done? And being right by your door really seems wrong.

I know it didn't sound like it, but I generally like the manager couple. Like the owners more. But sometimes the managing wife just says things the wrong way. Then I vent to all of you.

I think I'm going to watch a couple/few Hawaii 5-0 episodes on ION and vegetate.

I was walking from the store to the car and thought it's warmer here in the sun than it is in mom's house ... or at least felt like it...
I posted last night came back as I usually do and it wasn't there I swear I saw it say it posted successfully but guess it didn't unless I did it on Weds. didn't look there.
my niece posted on FB this morning about March being the awareness month for Multiple Myeloma... which is the type of cancer that my brother has... it's in remission sorta... I guess part of the issues that it can have is what my brother is experiencing now... where his blood marrow no longer works... so he is in the hospital for many reason's I'm sure that I've mentioned all that in the past and especially yesterday... which isn't on yesterday's  his nitrates are still low and sil keeps getting a new what they should be count it started at 400 then 500 now 1000 someone should know the correct amount... my brother text me last night asking if I'd bring mom to see him so one of my dd's is coming to pick us up tomorrow we will go to the hospital guess they don't have a only one person can see the patient going on although only 2 can visit at a time... in the thing my niece posted it said that 45 % of the people who get this live 5 years... this is his 5th year... and it's more of a male cancer than women ... not sure what else was said... although I learned more by reading it than I've know like the name!!!!
your right Anita this one was with Oliver out in the forest with his dad lost and dad not doing well but all ended up well !!!
made spaghetti the other day and tonight I cooked rotini to add to the sauce that was left over still have left overs we could have feed two more easily :o
I might have to go look at weds and see if that is where I posted at lol just really curious
glad you got your propane Beth... why do they care who fills your tank? unless they can get you a better deal by having one company come out...
you all have a great day
