Sunday March 13

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday March 13

Morning All, it was a bomb, strangest weather I have ever seen. Luckily I was on the fringe of the storm. Today sunny, 25° and tomorrow 55°. Afraid to uncover the pot of tulips to see if they survived. Management wants tenants to send them a picture of the view from our balcony. I was hoping mine would be a pot of tulips. Daughter planted 80 tulip bulbs and she is afraid to look too. Sheila, I sold my house because of the laundry in the basement. Staying home today until the danger of frostbite or heat stroke passes. Sharon, are you snowed in, hope not. All others, be safe

Good morning all. It’s been a crazy week for me. Just a lot of this and that that ate up the time! Dealt with wet snow the other day and then yesterday we got about 7” of snow but a lot of drifting with the wicked wind. Not to mention it was super cold. Neighbors got home after the first storm so I ran the snowblower and had to keep stopping to clear the chute since it was so wet. I was getting ready to go out yesterday and they were already almost finished doing the sidewalks out front. So all I had to deal with was the driveway! There’s a bit of a layer from the “flurries” we got most of the night. Sun is out so hoping it’ll do it’s job and melt it! Looking forward to the predicted temps this week. This time change has me all messed up but was expected! So Shirl, I’m not snowed in but by my choice I don’t plan on going anywhere today! Tina, sounds like a wise choice for you. And the pups will like you being home! Beth, hope you’re able to adjust to your early hours with your job. I took a 9:30 dental appointment Friday since I had to reschedule but even my hygienist knew it was early for me. Needless to say we had a good laugh about it! After this many years she knows me! Rascal had a bad week but seemed better yesterday. We have an appointment tomorrow to see the vet. It’s definitely been up and down. Not sure what we’ll decide to do tomorrow. Good to see Carol and Bill are home and no mice! I’ll miss their winter blog from Mexico. Enjoy the photos and their day to day. Judy, sounds like you’ve made a wise decision about wintering in FL. Anything to stay away from those nasty bites. Sandi, it’ll be interesting to see how you translate the memories into your art! Okay, realize I’m babbling so I’ll stop now and maybe actually get something done today! Have a good day and stay warm!!

Good morning. Been doing a bit of housekeeping this morning. Had a fun couple of days visiting with my BFF Laura. Was a beautiful drive up to her house. Had rain most of the way to Roseburg but it wasn't a downpour so was still an okay drive. Still have this dang cough, it really needs to move on. Seems a bit better today but that can change rapidly. Drives me nuts.

We had a very big storm yesterday and thru the night. Lots of wind, power outages all over, trees blocking highways and falling on houses. Luckily I never lost power and no trees around me but it did rearrange the patio rug and furniture. We got 3/4 of an inch of rain and snow in the mountains so that was a plus. Still breezy out with light rain. Supposed to have rain for the next few days but we will see. It mostly just skirts us and heads north.

I was going to the store today but thinking I will just skip it until tomorrow and hope for better weather. Just will hang out and relax today.

Good afternoon friends!

Wow, it sounds like there has been crazy weather all over the country. O'Sharon, glad you're giving your snow blower a good workout. Karen, happy to hear you & Laura were able to arrange a visit. Shirl. I just got off the phone with a friend in Cambridge & she was telling me about the crazy weather you've been having in MD. There was a tornado that touched down in Ocala yesterday. We had lots of rain and winds and our dock box with Steve's Green Egg accessories in the pergola flipped , but there wasn't any damage. Starting tomorrow, our temperatures will be in the low 70's and later in the week, we'll be close to 90. Our congregation met at a parishioners house after the service for our monthly potluck and it was fun and there was lots of wonderful food to choose from. Brenda & I will be going to Costco Tuesday while Steve sits with her dog, Joey. He is such a good little guy!

Enjoy the rest of your day, especially since we have more daylight hours.

Beautiful day today after a very nice, chilly night. That means the alligators and tourists were out at the big lake here at Myakka. Could barely get past the crowds and badly parked cars to get to the big lot in the back. People must not have known it was there, as they were parking cars, trucks, and even RVs on the shoulders, instead of going past to the bigger lot, which was almost empty! I had to wait for lines of multiple vehicles coming toward me before I could get past to leave. Sunday is the worst day to come to this state park because it attracts so many people. Campground is very nice, and I was able to get a last-minute handicap spot that is completely paved and right next to the restrooms and washer and dryer, so doing laundry is easy. Got three loads to do, and no mosquitos are out yet. Being on pavement really helps. I'll ride my bike down to the lake and check on birds and such on Tuesday.

Tomorrow, i have to go to law office, and am going to try to get to the Ding Darling nature reserve in Sarasota. Missed it earlier this year, so will try to go now.

I stopped at Walmart's on the way in and over-bought in terms of things that need freezing and refrigerating, so my refrig is absolutely packed. Need to eat the biggest and bulkiest stuff first! ;)

Early evening…Had a nice day today. Other daughter Laurie came over and the three of us had a nice visit. Laurie us doing fine with her prosthesis. She walks quite well with a minor limp.
As she will be flying to NH every once and awhile, I suggested she should register for frequent flyer miles.

She ignored my message to her wishing her a happy birthday but did respond to me asking how she's doing with the following:
"Hanging there. Battling annema from my kidney disease. Tired a lot. Thanks for asking"

I try not to be a pest, but also try to talk or text with her occasionally.

On another note, someone who went hunting either a hog or javalina tossed the carcass into the water where we walk our dogs. Of course Ty went right down the bank and settled in to eat whatever he could get. It took about 15 minutes to convince him to scramble back up and I'm sure that only happened because he had a fairly large bone in his jaws. I tightened my hold on his leash and told him to drop it. He did and when I backed him up a friend who was walking his dog with us grabbed the bone and tossed it back down. Poor Ty is still pouting. And I'm just hoping it doesn't make him sick.

Beth, I have trouble with Sugar eating every piece of trash she finds outside. It takes her all day to eat her food but will eat any rotten thing she finds. A possum got hit on the road a while back and the buzzards ate it but Sugar managed to find a bone. It was a fight to get it away from her.

Another day that I did almost nothing. It didn't get as cold as predicted and got up to 67. It's going to start warming up and rain tomorrow night. I only got 1/4 inch of rain the other night.

Did not mention before that I have had a bad cold for the past couple of days--sore throat, cough, etc. So tonight, it suddenly occurred to me that maybe it was COVID? (What a weird life we live these days!) Anyway, after reading in the news that Barack Obama just tested positive, I was happy that I had some home tests and took one, carefully following directions--result was NEGATIVE. Now, I just have to worry about my cold. Whew!

But at least I don't have to worry about spreading it to anyone else. :) There are some real benefits to living alone.

I am a little worried about my trip to the UK at the end of May because their numbers are high. Will have to decide at last minute and just be careful about wearing a mask.

my two daughters and my son in law came over for supper... had Adobo made with pork and rice with broccoli and a Asian Chopped Salad... all was really good took longer to make than expected but at the same time not as long as perhaps it should have although the meat was tender and done so guess the timing was ok... it's the rice cooker took longer than I wished... it's the ole watched pot never boils??? I had worried about the amount of meat turned out ok even had one serving left over so #3 dd will take it to work if she remembers  she is spending the night so she can have some one figure out why her port isn't working on her laptop so that she can have head phones on...
then son in law and #2 dd put the stand together admittedly I didn't measure to check height assumed that it would be counter high not sure but it looks higher will know when I roll it into the kitchen and try it out... need to do some checking it out and see how to reheat stuff first off... have some coconut shrimp in freezer that would be nice to reheat and get rid of it... but I need to do some studying first off... wish #1 dd was close by and I would ask for a lesson but she is 200 miles away...
we had lots of snow over night but it was warm enough yesterday that the main roads weren't bad at least the few blocks I had to go to get to church... oh found another reason for masks.... a lady came over and sat near me since I'd taken off my mask to blow my nose I could really spell her perfume... so very strong and one of those that felt like it was one that would choke me up on went the mask and couldn't smell it much at all... if only people would realize what heavy use of perfume can do... I quit wearing perfume for that reason didn't want to be the reason someone couldn't enjoy being at church..
you all have a great day we will hope more snow in the next few days... need to get milk didn't take in consideration of how much milk would be drank today...

Nothing too exciting today. It was a slow day at work but the time went by pretty quick. I got a $20 tip from my first customer this morning! :D Was nice to come home in daylight.

I made a dumb mistake tonight  . I went to transfer some of money on-line, from my savings to my checking account to pay off a credit card I used for my Arizona trip. Well, I did it backwards and it really screwed things up since I didn't have nearly enough money in my checking account to transfer that way. I called Wells Fargo and luckily got a real person fairly quickly. They were able to reverse it right away for me, luckily. I guess I can't do stuff like that when I am tired. :(

It was really windy again earlier tonight but now seems to have calmed down some. I have the window open in my bedroom with cool air coming in. Feels great!

One more day at work and then 4 days off! Got lots to do tho. My living room still looks like a tornado went thru it but it is actually more organized chaos now. A couple more hours of going thru misc stuff and it should look pretty good!

Good night...
