Friday March 11

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday March 11

Morning All, sunny and 54°. Rain tonight until tomorrow afternoon turning to snow accumulation 1”. Next week 50-60’s sounds good. Doing a lot of driving transporting brother until he is allowed to drive again. Expensive time to be on the road. Haven’t felt like cooking so am grateful for a full freezer and the air fryer. Going to take advantage of the sheltered sunny balcony and sit outside. Be safe

I fell asleep about 9:30 last night and slept until 7:30 this morning. The wind stopped just before I went to bed last night. Very calm and quiet this morning.

Have a couple haircuts to do in awhile and then probably tackle the boxes in the living room. I have been putting that off too long. Lots of sorting to do with all that. Luckily, the yard sale is in a week so I can put a lot of it aside for that if it doesn't belong in the trash! One of the boxes is already designated for the thrift store so will see if I can get rid of it at the sale first. Just piddly stuff I will put out for free.

Being it is nice out, I should do a couple outside projects too. Have to work for the next 3 days so won't be able to get back to stuff around here until Wednesday. Tuesday is putters golf and then our luncheon, games and a tournament. So that will take up most of that day. Then Wednesday and Thursday to get ready for the sale on Friday.

Judy, stay covered up! There are a lot of nice places to spend winters out west! No mosquitoes, and temps in the 70's! Just some wind to contend with. :D

Enjoy your day!

Got my blood work done very early this morning at Quest for my telephone appointment in a couple weeks with my Oregon doc. Then realized that there was a Dunkin Donuts shop almost next door so picked up 6 glazed sour cream donuts. Ate one and froze the rest--these cake donuts freeze very nicely which is why i got 6 of them.

Then back to campground and took a nap since I had not slept hardly at all last night. I think the prednisone is causing sleep problems so will take my last one earlier tonight. It has been helping my mosquitos bites, but counted 32 of them on legs this morning. Older ones are almost gone, and newer ones from this past Monday are less itchy and no longer painful. I have also been rearranging my reservations so I can head north to Atlanta and to Ohio a couple of weeks earlier. Atlanta and north have had some cold and even freezing nights, which really helps get rid of little nasty biting things. And Saturday night is supposed to go down to 46 in Myakka, which is where I will be, so that also will help. (Cold nights in desert is why western states have fewer mosquitos. Problem here in Florida is 70 degree nights and high humidity, but a lot of rain. January and February were good, but March so far has been horrible and April is expected to be worse.)

Also thinking about gas costs this summer and fall. Cannot change route to California, but I was originally going to go up to the northern part of Washington State, so I may limit myself to just Oregon. That will get me out of California heat in September and October, and then I can come back to California in November and December to stay at some COE campgrounds. CHristmas will be with kids, and then head to Arizona and NM. Need to cut back on campground fees, so maybe more federal and COE places instead of state parks, at least in Nevada and Arizona. NM is pretty cheap with their state parks. And maybe gas costs will go down in the fall--hoping!

It's finally raining. It's pretty light and will probably be out of here in a couple of hours but anything is better than nothing. It got up to 79 today and it's suppose to get down to 34 tonight and maybe freeze tomorrow night. I'll be glad when this crazy weather gets out of here. It will probably be back to the 80's in a few days.

A Good Feet Store opened in Lafayette and I have been seeing their ads on TV. I decided to go check them out today. They want almost $1,000 for 3 sets of plastic arch supports. I told the guy that was out of sight. I have some orthotics a doctor made for me that was a lot cheaper than that. I have been having foot problems off and on for over 40 years. I know if I will just keep wearing my orthotics my foot will eventually quit hurting.

I was going to see if I could get gas at Sam's but there was a traffic jam trying to get in there. Their gas is $3.88. Other stations are $4.29 and up.

Had a pretty productive day today. I went and did the two haircuts this morning. Their neighbor came over and said he had some aloe vera plants that he had dug up that we could have if we wanted. I picked out one that had a blooming stem on it. Got it planted in a pot when I got home. Hope it survives. The root on it was almost 2 feet long! I had to cut a lot of it off to fit in the pot.

I finished my gourd project other than needing to find a base for it, since it is a little tippy. I am very happy with how it turned out. :D

Started in on my living room. Got a lot tossed out and more for the sale. Still need to put the rest of it away or in my file box. Lots of papers I went thru! The living room still looks like a disaster until I get everything where it belongs (including trash and sale stuff). Lost my energy a little while ago tho.

My neighbors across the street had given me the key for their golf cart a couple months ago, if I needed to use it. I kind of forgot about it but chatted with her today (am using their tables again for my sale next week) and she mentioned that they usually pay to put the cart in storage for the summers while they are away but said if I wanted to use it, I could just park it at my place and it would save them the cost of storage. I told her I would love that and would pay her for rent if she wanted, too.

Got scheduled for the 9 hour shift again for tomorrow! I do get a 1 hour lunch with that shift but still makes for a long day and is usually busy as well, which is good for $$ but not so good for my already aching shoulders and lower back. :(

Judy, the desert doesn't have mosquitoes due to not having any stagnant water for them to lay their eggs. I hope you heal up quickly! Glad you are heading north sooner than planned.

Have a good night!

Sheila, appliances which heat (toasters, hair dryers, crockpots, air fryers) are never supposed to be plugged into an extension cord, because of the amount of current they draw. If you must, make sure it's a heavy duty power cord, rated to handle ths amperage tne appliance draws!
Afraid I agree with others, I love my cats, but won't have another. One is an angel, while her sister has marked every room in the house, but it's because she is so close to her wild ancestors. She is only second generation from African Serval. With me, I'm simply tired of caring for anything or person that's not myself. My girls will be totally loved to the end, then it's my turn. it is too bad she won't leave the dog.
