Sunny Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Tuesday

Postby JudyJB » Tue Mar 08, 2022 9:42 am

I went out once in early afternoon yesterday in shorts, but covered with repellent and then wore long pants late in the afternoon. However, I did not put rubber bands around my pant legs, so the nasty mosquitos did a lot of biting on my ankles and feet where they were not covered by my sandals. And this was only at 4:00 pm, which is not really dusk. Plus, even got a few bites earlier in the day even with repellent, so no more shorts outside.

Will bundle up on long pants, rubber bands, and long sleeves today to walk over to the beach. Might also go out and buy some new tires. Otherwise, not much happening.

Good Morning, It’s sunny here too. Loved the picture you posted of the Bald Eagle Sandi.
I check the eagles frequently during the day, then a last time when I am in bed and ready to turn the light off.
Going to use UBER today for the first time……..

Judy, I edited your subject to say Tuesday. :)

I love the eagle cams and bear cams! But I know as soon as I start watching one I'm hooked lol

I think Judy lost a day. lol It doesn't take much to confuse me, I had to look at my calendar.

It's only 62 this afternoon. I liked yesterday's temperature better. Now they are saying it could get down to 32 on Saturday night. All the rain is going to North Louisiana.

One of the lights in the kitchen has gone out. I keep forgetting to look for the ladder when I go out. I hope it hasn't disappeared. Things have a habit of disappearing around here. I need to put my name on the new shovel. I hope it's just a bulb and not something that needs an electrician.

I tried two more of the Freshly meals, Chicken Tikka Masala and Steak Peppercorn. I liked both of these. I put the Freshly box on the porch and the cats have made a bed in it with all the insulated packing.

Thanks, Beth. I did lose a day, but my excuse is that I was up all night with stinging mosquito bites. Got up and started making reservations for Scotland, and then ended up going back to sleep at 11:30 am for about two hours. Am not going out at all today. Called around about tires but two places so far have small parking lots and no place to put motorhome while they change tires. Need to work on finding a place.

You are all no doubt tired of my complaining, but this forum is a friendly place to vent. My obsessive nature resulted in my counting my mosquito bites--13 of left leg and 14 on right leg. One on back of neck, but none on arms. Why do they like my legs, I wonder??? Using ice packs--had to make a couple more by cutting up an old towel and freezing pieces in plastic bags. It is really the only thing that helps, but with a bit of luck, things will be better tomorrow. And I will save you the pleasure of seeing photos of my legs!!

Judy do you use any scented products on your legs? Just a thought.

Excited here. I just logged into my bank account and my tax refund was deposited today. Yay! It'll come in handy paying my gas.

Martha, nice bed for the cats. I've tried enough Freshly that I can say I'd reorder about 50%. I like more than that but that 50% will be my go tos. And about 25% make my not again list. Plus I'll continue trying a couple others when I order.

No sun here, but we have rain!

I used to keep insect repellent by the door and didn't go out without using it. Also had some cream that worked well if I did get bit. Certainly didn't have the reaction you have, Judy, but they do love me. Just checked the Freshly website and as I expected, they don't deliver here. Beth, since most of us are ready for Spring, I guess it does make sense it's about time for you to head out! Just seems like you haven't been there long! Velda, woohoo for negative test.

Now have eye and dentist appointments scheduled - finally. Have train reservation for Thursday and back on Sunday. Made some headway in office/sewing room. Exciting stuff.

I don't put anything on my legs. I do use bath powder under my arms and other places, but nothing at all on legs. And the weird thing is that this has always been true. When I get mosquito bites, it is never on my face or arms. Someone once suggested that they were hitting my legs because it was harder to swat them away down there. I never had mosquito bites show up until just before I was diagnosed with CLL in 2016. I had a girl cousin who was a year younger than me and lived across the street from our house, and she was a strawberry blond with very fair, thin skin with freckles. I remember being outside and walking to the school bus with her, and she would be dripping blood down her legs from scratching mosquito bites, and I just never had any bites at all. Strange.

This morning I went to putters golf. I started out pretty bad with lots of strokes on the easy holes. But there are 2 holes on the course that are really hard and most of us get really high strokes on those. Hole #5 is really hard and is a par 4 (supposed to be able to get the ball in the hole in 4 strokes) but most of us get it in 6 or more. Today I got it in 3 strokes!! :o Then later, we got to the 9th hole which is long, narrow, uphill, right next to the lake on one side and a retaining wall along the other side and then curves to the right up another small hill. I took a good whack at the ball, it went straight, eventually hitting the retaining wall, bounced off toward the hole and landed about 2 feet away!! I putted it in from there! Got 2 strokes on a par 4 hole that most of us get over 6 strokes on! What a thrill! :D Too bad I did so bad on the easy holes or I would have had a great overall score! Next week we have another contest day, luncheon, and tournament. Then one more week of the league for the season after that. I want to see if anyone is interested in still playing on Tuesday mornings after that just for fun until it gets too hot to play for the summer or the rest of the ladies are gone back home (most are snowbirds).

Went to work after that. Was a fairly slow day which was fine with me, but tips were really good! Got a $20 tip from my first client! Oh, and I got to see a guy shoplifting today! He walked past the "greeter" lady with a large TV in his arms and when she asked him to stop (to check for a receipt), he took off running out the door! Apparently, they don't do anything about it to go after them. The cops won't even come out for that. Last week there was a guy (probably hopped up on drugs) who was shirtless and was trying on bras in the isle and then when they asked him to leave, he started singing and dancing all the way out the door! Quite the spectacle!

Now am just hanging out on my bed with Lola. I have the next 3 days off. Next week I work the weekend and Monday and have the rest of that week off. We are having our last yard sale in the park that Friday so I will have several days to get organized and ready. One last shot to get rid of stuff and make a little money from it. I picked up some sale signs tonight at WM. Most people don't put out signs and just rely on the map they hand out at the clubhouse marking the places having sales. I am in a corner that doesn't get much traffic and no one else near me has sales, so I need to market my sale, so I will put those out on the main street here with balloons I will pick up the night before.

Lots of stuff on my to-do list for this week. Some fun things and other not so fun things. The wind should be calm tomorrow so will try out my bike! I took the battery out of it for now. I think the seat needs to come down a little more but will see how it feels where it is.

Gonna check what is on TV tonight, grab a little dinner and get to bed early. Will open my bedroom windows again tonight for the cool air coming in! 70's during the day and upper 50's at night. :D I guess I still have thick blood from living in MN so long! Cooler temps feel good to me!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

so I flunked filling the bobbin 101 :o had to ask my niece to come and show me how to so she did it I totally missed 2 steps ... then she threaded the machine tomorrow I will use it...good thing she came by my Amazon delivery was there and we didn't even know it... and it was snowed on... good thing nothing that could be hurt at least I hope it couldn't be... I am not sure mom is going to like having it up but oh well... want to make use of the air fryer... she may be wondering where it's going to be put... only place I can think of is in front of the hutch which means moving some stuff... which is ok one of the things I put there making it easier to get around with the walker... so I do need to find a spot for what ever it is no one is sure what it is possibly a air cleaner... possibly and her old vacuum is there I don't use it last time I turn it on it smoked think it can go outside into the garage and the vacuum I use can go where the old one is currently at... my brother went to use the old one wouldn't work so he got another one much lighter and got the other repaired till I guess I did something it didn't like could just be the belt but I don't like it so not going to get it repaired I don't think... doing all that should make room for the kitchen cart and it moves so if needed we can shuffle it around... vacuumed the floor and moped the kitchen floor so did something productive... that and a word search
Anita .... when you mentioned train it reminded me of a train trip I read about that goes from point A to point B and back to A if I could only remember more of it  along the coast it sounded so nice...
Judy that is too bad that you got so many bites... I use to attract the critters... but for some reason it stopped knock on wood I rarely get a bite and when I do it's just a couple.. hopefully wearing the long pants will help...
I would have thought Barbie that you would be accustomed to CA temps you have been out of the northern states for a long time... I feel like my blood is still thin from AZ
good news Velda... glad you tested negative and can go back to curves...
a few years ago K-Mart closed here in Jackson think it was perhaps one of the last to close... the building stayed empty with lots of rumors as to what or who was going to go into it... Then heard it was Target... wow amazing and then nothing and then Covid hit and halted whatever they had done... this past summer they really went to it and read the other day that the grand opening is to be on April 1 it will be nice to have them here in lots of ways... here is hoping though that the prices aren't sky high... still it will be neat to have it I do wish though when they were remodeling that they had put a 2nd story for housing places for employee's to stay is at a premium hear tales of many camping all summer cause they can't find an apartment...
you all have a great night

Judy I saw this in the Hammacher Schlemmer Early Spring Supplement 2022 and thought of you. They have pants and a shirt. They also had other options on their web site. This is a link to the shirt. https://www.hammacher.com/product/mosqu ... 6996&xsp=5 I wonder if taking vitamin C would help seems like I read that somewhere, couldn't hurt.

When I was young, I got plenty of mosquito bites but what really loved me was chiggers!! Just walking thru the grass, I would get a ton of chigger bites all over me. Looked like I had chicken pox! And boy did they itch! I would cover the bites with clear nail polish but that didn't seem to help. They just moved around all over to bite me more.

I don't think there are very many K-Marts left now. I know there is still one out here in Ramona, a small town north and east of San Diego on the way up the mountain. I haven't been inside a Target store in years. Never really liked their merchandise or their prices.
