Good Morning. 37° and down from 41° when I got up. We just had a storm come through that dumped a mes of freezing rain and rain through the state. The majority of the freezing rain was in the upper peninsula but last night, those of us in the lower had a heck of a mess of rain and even some thunder and lightning. I don’t think there was any here but some areas did report it. But the rain left a big mess behind in there is water all over the place on top of the frozen ground. This kind of stuff is dangerous this time of year because the back roads and snow-covered surfacesare turning into skating ranks. Supposedly we are supposed to have some snow tomorrow which would be good because it will at least put a little bit of a layer on top of the ice and make for a better walking. My yard as you can see is a ice-skating pond or will before long. It is also extremely windy with gusts up as high as 40 miles an hour..
I am not going out of the house today and the dogs are going to have to tread carefully out there. Fortunately there is a snowbank along the back of the house from the deck and they can walk on that down into the yard. Tuesday and Wednesday it is supposed to be sunny and in the 30s maybe maybe lower 40s, so that will help melt some of thi down. So, Pat, your weather came through here and now I unfortunately have to hand it off to O’Sharon. But given the climate that she has, it will probably be rain. And I do not think she has any snow on the ground right now, do you? You might also be interested to know that we just had the Ordination and installation of our new Bishop here. He is a native of Scranton.
Judy, I was reading something the other day about bugs and stuff. It was mentioned that Wearing a light weight pair of wind pants over your shorts or whatever will help keep them from biting you. It might be something that might you want to consider when you are out walking in the warmer climates.
Regarding the safety of retractable dog leashes, I just read an article on thrm not long ago., They are really are not the best thing to use. If you are walking your dog and one of those leashes and do not have it locked, your dog can lunge at somebody or something before you have a chance to react. Once this happens you cannot get it wound back up and you cannot use your hands to pull on it because you can cut your fingers. It also said that even if it is locked in place it does not mean that it will hold. A strong enough dog givin the right circumstances can literally break that lock regardless. And if for some reason you accidentally drop it m it becomes a flying missle, heading straight for your dogs head. Vet’s do not like them because they are constantly pulling on the dog’s trachea if they are wearing a collar. I used them one time and I will not do it again. I would much rather use a good webbed leash that I can just hold in my hand, and control my dog way better.
I got tbe floor washed in my basement yesterdsy, exciting news, huh
That finishes up my basement. It’s really nice going down there and having everything so freshly painted and clean and light. So, the indoor house projects that I had lined up for the winter are done except for my bathroom flooring which is being installed tomorrow. Now I am going to work on some wood craft things and do some Genealogy and just putter around with that stuff until the weather allows me to get outside. I do want to get my kitchen a really good cleaning though. And my fence guy will be getting back to working in the fence on the nice days.
Gas here is reported to be at $4.19 now. They said on Friday that it was expected to go up by Monday so I went to the gas station on Saturday and topped off my gas tank and got my truck washed. Glad I did. At that time with my $.10 a gallon discount I paid $3.77 a gallon.
Time to quit chattering here and get myself often to something here. So you all have a nice day and stay safe.
