Friday the 4th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday the 4th

It's partly cloudy today, so they say. I say it's partly sunny! Lol Nice temps but winds picking up and to be worse the next couple days. I loved sleeping with my window open. Nothing planned for today other than our normal walks.

Barbie, it drives me crazy that bigots say things to me because they are bigots and think I must be an uninformed idiot like they are!!! I was walking into the visitor center last week at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp. They require masks in the building, so I was putting on a disposable one, and a lady rushed past me, turned around just before going in the door and told me how awful it was that "they" were forcing us to wear masks with asbestos in them, and how we were all going to die from the masks. I had no time to say anything, and it took me until that evening to look that up and find out it is another conspiracy theory that is going around!

I stayed outside a few minutes after dusk two days ago and now have 8 mosquito bites on my legs. Each has a red center about 1/2" in diameter with a more than 1" welt and less red area surrounding them. They started burning last night, even with my taking over-the-counter Benadryl pills, and using cortisone cream and ice packs on them. Still burning and itching today--and i was doing so well about coming in before sunset and keeping covered outdoors. I had shorts on and even got a couple of bites on the back of my thighs, so they even crawled up under the legs of my shorts! Just also took some Aleve for the burning. We had really chilly nights in mid and northern Florida where I spent most of Jan-Dec, so that showed the little nasties down, but temps are not as cold at night now and highs are in mid-80s. Ugh. :(

Good afternoon. Busy running some errands today. Went to Costco and got gas....kind of a shocker as I checked the gas prices yesterday but didnt want to go out so today I see it went up 25 cents just in ONE day. It is now $4.05 soon it will be $5.00 I have no doubt.

Threw a load of laundry in, sweathshirts and jeans as I see no warm up in our near future. Sorry about your bites Judy. You better come in at 3 and dress in long pants, shirt, hat etc I just read about you ex family member Beth, so sorry. Sounds like Sandi is enjoying her trip. Well that is all from this neck of the woods.

I slept in until almost 10am. Still a little dizzy when I first got up. Stayed busy today with projects tho, all day. Dave came over at noon and started putting my e-bike together. While he was doing that, I went down the street to do the two haircuts I postponed from the other morning. Dave had the bike done when I got back. Had to plug it in and get it charged up so I didn't get a chance to ride it yet. It is really cute tho!

I started a small gourd project, planted my tomato plants in large containers, started the cat door project, and a few small outdoor projects. Then went shopping for a few things I needed for some other projects. Also brought home a hanging strawberry plant. It had 3 fully ripe strawberries on it. I ate one already and it was very sweet and juicy! I will eat the other two for breakfast tomorrow :D . Hopefully, I can keep it alive long enough for some more to grow and ripen.

got gas....kind of a shocker as I checked the gas prices yesterday but didnt want to go out so today I see it went up 25 cents just in ONE day. It is now $4.05 soon it will be $5.00 I have no doubt.

Karen, I also had major sticker shock today when I went to buy gas!! It was $5.25 per gallon! :o :o Last week I paid $4.65. In Arizona, I paid $3.39. Just crazy! Cost me almost $90 to fill my tank today! Luckily, I live much closer to work now.

Judy, sorry about your mosquito bites. Bug bites on me take forever to heal! I get scars that take several months or more to disappear.

Lola is starting to show her age more and more now. She has lost a little weight and not bathing herself as much now. She is still eating well and no issues with the litter box deposits and her behavior is still good other than sleeping a lot. She is 18 now so I guess that is to be expected. :(

After our 10 drops of rain last night, the wind picked up and was very windy all night. Today was partly cloudy and just a nice cool breeze all day and upper 60's. I had the windows open in the house all day.

Back to work tomorrow and Sunday. My manager accidentally scheduled me on Tuesday next week, which is my golf day. She said she will try to switch me with someone else. If she can't she is OK with me coming in to work after I finish playing golf. There are only a few weeks left of the league so I don't want to miss any more than I already have. The snowbirds will be heading out of here starting in a couple weeks and into April. It has been so busy and active around here this winter, with every space filled with owners or renters, and lots of remodeling being done to park models. Lots of new owners this year too. Seems to be younger couples (50's and 60's) buying here now which is good.

Corn Hole is all the rage around here this year! I wonder if the park will find a place for corn hole games to be played. Now it is being played in the green spaces behind homes around here which is being frowned upon by the management because neighbors are complaining about the noise.

Think that is about it for now...have a good night.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I didn't do much today. I had a Meetup meal tonight at a Seafood restaurant in Lafayette. I had crawfish and oysters. The crawfish were very small and the oysters weren't as good as the restaurant in Abbeville. The restaurant is on the service road by I-10 and they have tourist prices. I brought enough sweet potato fries home to eat for 2 meals. I hope we don't have more meals on a Friday night. There were too many people out on the road tonight.

Judy, I'm sure glad I'm not as allergic to mosquitoes as you are. Since it's been so dry I haven't seen any lately but we have rain coming Monday. I hope we have rain coming. Asbestos in masks is a new one. It amazes me some of the stuff people that I though had good sense come out with.

There's an ad on TV that Brooks and Dunn are coming to Lafayette in June. The last concert I went to was Brooks and Dunn, probably about 2000. I said I would never go to another concert. We were about 7th in line when they started selling tickets and the best we could get were 2 level.

There's a farmers market in Delcambe and an arts and craft show at The Shadows on the Teche tomorrow. I'll see how motivated I am in the morning. I can't really think of any thing I need at the farmers market. They have more crafts than food.

Just discovered that I got my tax refund deposited in my checking account today. Put most of it in my savings. The rest I will use for getting my windshield replaced. Also ordered a few more things for my bike, like a cover, a helmet, tail light (bike comes with a headlight), wheel lights, etc. I get so mad when I see so many people here in the park out on their bikes with no lights or reflectors after dark! I have had several close calls when I turn a corner and there is someone right there that I didn't see until my headlights caught them. :o I want lots of lights on my bike when I am riding after dark.

Can't wait to try the bike out, probably not til Monday tho, since it is dark by the time I get home from work and I want to see what I am doing with the controls until I get used to them.

Martha and Judy, I think people no longer know the old adage,"if it looks too good to be true"! Even people I know who I thnk have good sense, pass junk along that in just seconds I can prove with links is junk! They usually say, oh I didn't know and thank me, but really! They don't think first , hey that doesn't sound right? Wow, they actually believe asbestos in masks. How sad. No wonder so many people get scammed for thousands of$, they believe anything!

Velda, there are so many post on Facebook that I would like to reply to but don't because I'm not arguing with these people and their dumb ideas. I belong to quite a few RV groups and I see people giving advice that is dangerous.

Barbie, it looks like a bike would at least come with reflectors. Last night when I was on my way home I met a guy on a 3 wheel bike riding down the street in the center turn lane. If he had been in my lane I would have hit him. One of the reasons I don't like to drive at night is because of all the people that walk down the road wearing black clothes. Some of the streets don't have sidewalks and they will be in the road.
