A Meteorological Spring Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A Meteorological Spring Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Mar 02, 2022 9:03 am

Morning everyone. Geting cloudy after a sunny start. Light snow expected later. It’s also Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent and yesterday was the beginning of Meteorological Spring. I won’t try to explain that, you can read the Info from the link if you want. https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/meteorol ... al-seasons. All I know is, I can see signs of spring coming in, in the warmth of the sun, the length of the days, the crazy ups and downs of the weather. Nature in her subtle ways is changing the seasons.

Karen, like your showers, easy in, easy out. Lyn, glad you have a plan, now you can relax. Peggy, good to hear from you. I’m missing Anne too.I can relate to the singles, couples conversations. Hard when you are a single. Irmi, are you heading out anyplace this summer? Cheryl, good luck on the trip planning.

Saw a good challenge on FB for the 40 days of Lent. Called “40 Bags in 40 Days”. Object is to go through your stuff and clear out things you no longer need or use, clothes you no longer wear and bag them up for donation. I suppose it could apply to old bills, papers, magazines etc., . You have had around gathering dust and shred, recycle or burn whatever. Didn’t say how big the bags have to be, just a bag a day. In the end you will have decluttered your space and are free of it all and the donations will help the the organizations who help others. I don’t have anything left to give as I’ve cleaned out my excess.

Off to the basement. Painted the floor in two rooms yesterday, need to remove the masking paper from along the walls and then put some along the rest of the basement walls, so I can officially finish that up today. Time to get moving. Have a great day.

Good morning. Warm out again 54 with rain. They no longer just call it a storm coming in, now it is an "Atmospheric River" how silly is that. We dont get that much rain here as it heads north and bypasses us. Wish we got more.

Have some housekeeping chores to do today. Putting some ribs in the oven later for dinner. Then going to go get gas fill up and pop into Costco for a couple of things.

Good Morning, another beautiful day, although it is supposed to turn cloudy later. It is always o’cast at night so never can see stars.
I am setting up a group text with my daughter and three grandsons. I will text them at certain times to let them know I am OK. They all live in SD about 20/30 minutes away. Am considering an alert button but so far don’t want one.
Catherine, we contacted home care via the information you sent. At the moment I don’t need them, but have all the information at my fingertips for future use. I also subscribed to their news letter.
Had a real estate lady visit with info about selling my condo. Still considering what to do. Capital gains taxes would be a big issue. It is nice talking to a professional who knows all the information.
Valerie did tell me she is feeling guilty about leaving me!!! She has been very nice these past few days.
Off to the pool….. Lyn

Good morning Sue, Karen , Lyn and all who follow. It's sunny here , though we hope for some of the rain off the coast will drop in later in week. Probably be about 70 today.
Karen, the term, atmospheric river has been used for decades by meteorologists. It's an apt description of what is seen on weather mapping , with a long narrow defined line of storm coming from out in the Pacific into a defined area. It's been discussed many times on the weekly weather chats by Mark Finan, PhD from our local NBC affiliate-KCRA. An atmospheric river is what brought the few days of sustained rain late last year of over 6 inches. It's truly how that type weather event looks on the satellite and radar mapping when you see it, a long narrow band of rain stretching from way out, sometimes as far as Hawaii when you first can see it, stretching towards west coast in a defined area. Most storms move in lined up north to south and either as a blob shape or long and narrow along our coast, so we only get rain from the narrow width, where an atmospheric river is perpendicular to the coast so we get its full length pouring rain for as far as it stretches out in Pacific. So, it's not silly, but very descriptive. And we pray for another soon!
I feel some better today. Didn't fall asleep in my recliner or bed during afternoon yesterday. Still not up to sustained activity, but trying to do a few things each day. I'll not be doing 40 bag challenge, but will continue to bag and get rid of stuff. I haven't used genuine Tupperware in years and am wary of plastic with any food that is warm when put away, so have a lot of Tupperware to pack. I've switched to much safer glass containers, and certainly don't cook the quantities I used to. Hope to bag up another bag of plastic stuff today. I can sit on my rolling stool to do that in lower cupboards.
I learned the severe flare of interstitial cystitis ( bladder pain) which I have been having past few weeks is likely what Drs are now terming CoVid bladder! It's been miserable. That's just one of the weird things I have experienced. Another is joimt/muscle pain that travels: one day my left heel so bad I can't have anything touch it, the next my right shoulder blade, and another neck or low back. Opthalmic migraine one night, most severe I recall. Brain fog( which thankfully is lifting) to the point where I just couldn't make myself focus long enough to complete a task. Like I knew what the task was and how to do it, but just couldn't. Weird smells and weird tastes- yesterday all day it tasted like I was sucking an old nail , metallic. Another day I smelled coffee, when there is none ! I speculate this is all about brain /neural inflammation, but even Drs cant well define or explain it right now, nor how long it will last!
So if, I'm reading, not commenting, it's likely been a more symptomatic day for me, but I do read each day and think fondly about each of you. I'm not "sick" as we usually define it, but this virus is very nasty and sneaky in its effects.

Martha, always check your next order after you get one. I learned that they propagate the order with your last, but they change it for things not on that weeks menu. So check and make your own changes or skips. I'm only getting my 2nd order before I leave here. When I reach Utah I'm going to order from BistroMD using an AARP discount and check it out. I like their selections. So maybe I'll order from both switching it up. Time will tell.

I'm supposed to be playing poker this afternoon but didn't sleep much last night so not going. Tomorrow I have an eye appt.

This is the first I've heard the term atmospheric river. And I laugh about the two different starts to spring. When I lived in Wisconsin we never considered it spring until we could plant flowers without fear of a freeze. Usually that was late May.

I looked all over Abbeville for batteries for my Vivofit and couldn't find any. Went to Best Buy and the Battery store in Lafayette and they didn't have them either. I think you could drop dead in Best Buy and they would never notice. I haven't looked on Amazon yet to see if they have them. You can order everything else on Amazon.

I have never heard the term Atmospheric River either. I got my new shovel at Lowe's so maybe I can get my rose bush planted tomorrow.

When I was in town I was behind a car that had a sign like it might be some kind of medical transport. I should have written the name down. I was just wondering if Medicare would pay for something like that for doctor visits.

I don't know that I have enough I want to get rid of to do 40 bags in 40 days. I think I'll just try to throw something away out of the old house everyday. I've already missed today but threw some things away yesterday.

When I woke up yesterday morning, I said "good morning" and then "rabbits". Probably won't count. Then I got up out of bed, the room started spinning and I fell back on the bed. I have had vertigo years ago and this felt like that. I just wasn't able to keep my balance. I didn't go play golf and I postponed 2 haircuts I had scheduled for after that. When I got up later, it was better but I was being careful and trying not to turn around quick. I did do the other 2 haircuts later in the day and went to the bank after that to deposit my cash from haircuts and tips.

Was a little "off" this morning but went to work anyways. Did pretty good all day. We were super busy today and it didn't help that my manager took a perm just before noon so I got bombarded with all the haircuts that came in for a few hours. Am very tired tonight.

It has been pushing 90 degrees yesterday and today. I liked the weather reports years ago when they just talked about rain, sun, wind, etc without all the scientific terms. Back then, weather people weren't meteorologists but just entertaining weather reporters. I like to keep things simple.

Another work day tomorrow, then Friday off. Will do the 2 haircuts I postponed from yesterday and continue working on organizing my gourd stuff. I have 4 days off next week so will finally have time to really work on this place (maybe 3 bags? :o ) and work on a couple gourd projects. 40 bags in 40 days is a lot! A lot of time and a lot of stuff! Dave said he might stop by on Friday and work on putting my e-bike together. Would be nice to be able to use that before it gets too hot in the summer.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

if we were cleaning out mom's house 40 bags would not even make a dent  I make her sound like a hoarder which in the since of walking through aisles of stuff stack up to the ying yang no she is not but the stuff pushed under the beds never to be thought of again well she might be... and clothes... I swear she has clothes in 3 different closets not to mention the bins of stuff I took out of the room I am in which also had clothes from the closet so I could hand mine up several of those bins where beanie babies totally amazed at how many she has if only they were as valuable as predicted...
made a trip to find a kitchen rolling cart couldn't find one so it's now been ordered from Amazon hope to receive it  they seem to have issues with delivering stuff in Jackson and for some reason they tend to drop them off at post office... I hope I don't have to take it from the counter to car will never make it.. why a cart that rolls? eldest dd gave me a air fryer!!!! :D :D doing the happy dance but needed something to put it on as it's higher than the space between the cupboard and the counter top... and now to learn how to use it and to get some of the required things like mom uses PAM not recommended so will find a spritzer for oil...
it will be exciting ...
and a trip to WalMart wish I had remembered the spritzer then but tried to stick to my list only got maybe 4 items not on the list...
also stopped at WalGreen it crazy to pick up a liking for certain things I love this popcorn that is drizzled with chocolate that they carry brand is Virginia something or something Virginia I think ;) found it in Q then it was in some walmarts then in Walgreen's I've tried other brands of drizzled pop corn just in my opinion not as good...
then a friend and I went out to have an early supper she looks so tired one of those who has a hard time saying no and so kind hearted that she is wearing herself out helping others. one lady she takes out one day to get groceries get her hair done and what ever else she needs to do and another day for wound care...
but we went for supper found a place to get some pupusa's they were yummy but didn't really like the chili releno made different than I have had it ... used to creamy goodness in it not stuffed with chicken... oh well we would go again just not get chili releno or however it's spelled... one of those spell check didn't help me with
got locked out of the house not normally locked but every door was... had to wait for sil to come home
you all have a great day
