Last Saturday of February

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Saturday of February

Postby Colliemom » Sat Feb 26, 2022 10:15 am

Morning from the 45th. Partly cloudy, 20°with a real feel of 11°. Fence contractor decided it was too cold to do anything the with the wind blowing. Don’t blame him. Trying for tomorrow. Weather is not cooperating and that rain we had a week ago, messed everything up. Soaked everything and then froze. Rain is not welcome here in February. Things were going good till then. But as I said before, no hurry on this project.

Sinuses acting up a bit this morning. So think this will be a day of just relaxing and monkeying around with crafts and getting my family history stuff organized. Have a bunch of birth, death certificates and obits that I want to put in envelopes for whomever they are for. Thrn will use them as ai start serious research. Cousin sent me a link to a free class on My Heritage, so be a good day to listen to some of it.

Cheryl, I can understand your anxiety on driving to the NE. I don’t like heavy traffic anymore either. So glad I saw most of those states years ago when they weren’t so crowded. When I lived in southern Michigan, driving in traffic was a normal thing, but living up here, where traffic is a seasonal thing per se, whole different story.

So, Coffe is on. Enjoy your day.

Good Morning Sue and all who read or post later. It is 28 here at 10:00 but the sun is out and it is supposed to get up to 36 today. The trees are still sparkly with ice. I think I'll wait for it to get up to 36 before going out.
I met a couple of friends yesterday afternoon at the local Panera's for coffee and it was in the 20's outside. I had on fleece lined short boots and kept my coat on it was so cold inside. There were only a few people there but I kept my mask on, I'm just not comfortable taking it off in public and one of the women that was there works in a very busy health service place.

I guess everyone feels cold differently as one of the women I was with yesterday had on mesh sneakers and no socks! Then I read Sheila went out in flip flops yesterday!! Besides the cold, I thought those contributed to leg pain 'Dr' Redetotry here prescribes you get some shoes with good arch support. I hope you feel better today!!

Is it just me or do others think technology is changing so fast that it is exasperating? One example, our bank changed their online banking site and everyone had to download the new system. I had no luck and it took the banks tech people over two weeks to get it working for me. I was on the phone so much with this one man DH asked if I was going to invite him for Christmas dinner! Plus the new system does not work nearly as easily as the old one and people who have the phone app have had to reinstall at least twice. Now I am trying to figure out how to submit Nationwide Pet Insurance claims.

Time to think about a mid-morning snack. Enjoy your day.

Good morning. Sue, I got lucky yesterday and was able to use the snowblower to get through the mess we got. Rain, sleet and a bit of snow with bad wind. It was slow going and it didn’t really blow but rather spit the mess out! But it beats shoveling! I wasn’t sure if it would work but I watched the fellow from across the street doing the church sidewalks so figured there might a chance! Had to call the furnace guy again since the furnace quit again and it took awhile to “tap” it to get it to run. He’s going to try something to see if we can keep it going until the heating season is over and we can shut down the system for several days to do whatever needs to be done. It’s always something. I canceled my dentist appointment since I wasn’t sure what was going to happen with the furnace and the next soonest appointment is in May! She put me on their list to call me if they have a cancellation and since I’m so close I can get there is about 5 minutes. I decided after yesterday I want to go back to bed and not get up until at least April! But today’s a new day and nothing bad has happened so I’ll take it as a plus! Getting some flurries but nothing serious so far today. I don’t know what got into me the other day but I took down the curtains in one room and washed them and actually got them back up. Plus I washed the windows too. I used the “recipe” adding alcohol to the water and it seemed to work pretty well in the cold. Now I need some more alcohol! Wonder if I can buy it by the gallon since I have a lot of windows! Like I said not sure what got into me! Guess I’m trying to get a jump on spring cleaning! Judy, Birdie and I took a canal cruise a few years ago and got to go through a couple of the locks on the canal up in NY. It was a fun experience. So hope everyone in the path of this latest storm made it through it. I’m looking forward to some 40’s this week! Have a great last weekend of February, stay safe and stay warm!

Made my bed, shook and changed rugs, damp mopped floor, fixed a bagel for breakfast/lunch, put my awning up including the de-flappers, and hiked trash down to the dumpster. So, now I am tired out and am going to upload photos from yesterday at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. I was really exhausted yesterday and just not feeling well due to the heat all day. It was also a 2.5 miles boardwalk, and as much as I enjoyed it and took a long time to walk, with lots of sitting on benches, it was a lot. I am going to go next time on a cooler day, which I think will help.

And, BJ, I worked with and in IT for many years, in spite of personally not being super technical. Mostly I edited their manuals and wrote training programs, and one thing i learned is that most of them can never leave well enough alone!! For many of them, their idea of fun is to take a program that functions well and spend months making "improvements" to it! The result is people like you and me not being able to use the new and improved versions without a lot of effort and frustration. I think it is job security for developers and help desks.

Going to get my printer out and download and print some documents I need to sign, plus work on documenting my Power of Attorney hours from July-December 2021. I have about 2/3s of it done, but i need to fill in the blanks, going day by day stating number of hours spent and exactly what I did during those hours. Warm today but a nice breeze, so will probably walk around the campground and check out the birds and see if the otters are out. I was pretty sure they were gone because their old burrow was filled in, but I saw them briefly on my way out yesterday morning. There are lots of rocks and spaces between them that could contain new burrows in that same area. It is amazing but this same otter family has been here in the campground for at least the past 9 years!! And, I was told that the parents have a new litter somewhere. Parents tend to move farther up the little creek when they have new babies, leaving older ones behind.

Just updated my blog for yesterday's trip to the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Wonderful place and I always try to go there a couple of times when I am in Florida.

I went to brunch with my friends in Lafayette. My breakfast was twice what I usually eat so shouldn't be hungry agin until tonight. I thought hard about going to a nursery. I thought that on a Saturday they would be mobbed but there was almost no one there. They didn't have any Sheila's Perfume roses but I got a Mr Lincoln. Now if I can just get it planted. I needed to stop at Lowe's and get a new shovel but I ran out of steam by the time I got back to town. I forgot to stop at the grocery store so had to stop at the Dollar General near me.

I gave up trying to use the bank's web site. I would have to go in to get it set up and if I didn't use it every month I couldn't get in. I don't want any banking information on my phone and don't really like having credit card information on my computer. One of the banks changed their name so now I need to see if I need to get new checks. The lady that bought my car was trying to get insurance on her phone and ended up having to call. They wouldn't give her a license until she had insurance. My insurance company is a bigger PIA because they won't add a car until you go in and pay.

It has gotten up to 63 but the sun hasn't come out so it feels cold. I'm sure Sugar would like to walk but I would like to pass.

Good evening,

It's supposed to be snowing. :) Haven't been out of the apartment for awhile, but I went grocery shopping today. Sidewalk is still not cleared off completely!

When this round of cold weather is over, I need to run errands in Wenatchee. I know I'll run out of steam before I get them all done! Have a package awaiting pick up here at the post office and the hold time has about passed. Amazon may get it back!

Sheila, as much as I like flip flops, I think I've become more of a sandal person. Hope you aren't sore today. I went to the store in a warm shirt, no jacket. Couldn't wait to get the shirt off when I got home and something lighter on. Sue, I had one of those days yesterday - one eye burned and watered, nose ran. Hope you are better.

Monica sent me a text picturing the note management of the mobile home park sent out. It was telling people that only dogs and cats are allowed as indoor pets - Not chickens! We haven't figured out how management knows there are chickens without knowing who has them.

Cock-a-doodle-do???

Maybe some loud chickens? I also can’t imagine that there would not be smells. Keep us updated because this promises to be funny!

I can't imagine having chickens inside a house!

For a Saturday, it was really quiet at work today! The new gal is leaving the shop. She lives down by the Mexican border which is about 1 1/2 hour drive each way to work and back. :o She says she goes thru $140 per week in gas. So I can totally understand why she is quitting. She also really wants to work in a full service salon rather than just cutting hair all day. I guess we are getting a stylist from another Great Clips to take her place.

Have tomorrow off and have a lot to do around here! Tonight I just watched a couple movies on Lifetime. Time for bed now. Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I'm laughing and wondering also who is hiding the chicken!! Chickens can be pets though. The one I knew didn't go inside but when his owner was outside the chicken sat on his shoulder. They also make clothes for them some for a reason, others arejust cause:)

I Googled chicken clothes and came up with a lot of patterns and ready made items on Esty and various places.

Interesting, a chicken for a pet. I would have fertilizer for my plants.
