Friday February 25

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday February 25

Morning All, it’s 34°dark and raining. Suppose to clear this afternoon and be 54°. Drinking coffee and wrapped in my blankie (down throw). I got an invitation to a baby shower and it included a request that you bring a book also. What a great idea. I ordered a hard copy of Wonky Donkey, my favorite book. There is a video of a Scottish grandmother reading that book and it is hilarious. I might watch it again on this dreary day, I could use a laugh. Be safe

Friday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Fri Feb 25, 2022 10:33 am

Morning all. Sunny, 18°Out there. Breakfast, shower and vacuuming done. Heading out shortly to clear out the couple inches of snow from last night. Waiting for somebody from across the highway here to come pick up the 30 amp. Power cord I’m selling. Friend downstate is buying the surge protector. So p than a few odds and ends, everything from my trailer is gone.

Cheryl, I used to feel like you do too, when I stsrt out after not towing for awhile. I think it’s nervousness from driving around without having anything attached to our bumper and then when we do we tend to worry about the what if‘s. But after I’m on the road for a while it becomes comfortable again. And you are making a major change in your life again and this time, you won’t have that base of security behind you for the first time in your life. . But as the others have said, once you are back in the road, you will fall into the groove. You can look and see where you might land some day and you will know in your heart when you find it.

Interesting conversations in glass shower doors. I for one would rather have them than a shower curtain. My mother was a stickler for wiping shower wall’s and doors down as soon as we got out of the shower or cleanin g the bathtub then and there too, if we took a bath. Dad was a shower person, she and I were bath people. We kept a squeegee in the shower and dad used it when he was done. We never had spotty shower walls and the shower doors were always looking good. To this day, I do the same thing and my shower door sparkles. No fuss no muss. I keep an old towel on back of bathroom door and after I dry off, I wipe the shower walls and door and done. Once in awhile I’ll spray it with glass cleaner. . I don’t want to be bothered with taking down a shower curtain, removing all the hooks, waiting for it to go through the washer and dryer, reinstalling all the hooks and putting it back up.

Off to do some snowblowing before lunch. Have a nice dsy all. Stsy safecthose out east. Loks a little nasty out there.

Good morning, but very chilly again, supposedly we only have one more day of low 20's then some rain is coming.......yay. They are coming to finish my showers today, hopefully. They came and took the other tub out yesterday so now just need to get the plumbing done and the shower installed. Still need the trim on the master shower put up and that will be done.

This weekend I will attempt to get my income tax finished. I have all my forms now so just need to put them to paper. My tax person in Medford went up to $425, nope that is not going to happen as I have a fairly simple return. Last year not so much as I got to depreciate things from the fire. This year just my basic investments and SS, and of course my RMD. I will give it a whirl and see if it doesnt befuddle me.

Getting ready to have some breakfast in case the boyz come early LOL AND they shut off my water. I have major housecleaning to do this weekend if they finish. I dont want to vacuum and dust until they are all finished.

Regarding shower doors: think a lot has to do with construction of doors. The doors in the apartment walk in shower is heavy duty with a grab bar. I spray with Clean Shower and Squeeze after every shower. The water here is chlorinated so that might have a bearing on it too. I removed shower door in the house because it was difficult to clean.

I squeegee my entire shower including the door after each use. It's not cleaning the actual door that I dislike, it's all the nooks and crannies caused by the door runner and the rubber pieces. And other reasons like the roominess a curtain will give. Oh, and hating the door dripping on the bathroom floor.

Shirl, you've got warmer weather than me today. It's been rainy and foggy all morning. Finally about 42* but only a high of 44 or 45 today. Tomorrow and Sunday we'll maybe hit 50 them our temps return to normal 70's going to 80 and above. At least that's what I'm seeing predicted. In hoping it stops raining so I can try to get a good walk in.

Yea, the Mazda is sold. A lady bought it for her 18 year old son. That thing is so small I didn't want my 40 year old son in it. Just hope the boy is safe. Now to decide if I want to get the Honda fixed to tow. No more than I travel now I don't know that I need something to tow but it would be nice sometimes.

Our 80 degree weather is gone and it's back to the 40's. I heard it raining during the night and we got 3/4 of an inch. Better than nothing. The rye grass for the cattle will be happy. I missed the weather this morning so don't know what is coming. There is something wrong with the Weather Channel, the button that is suppose to bring up the local weather hasn't been working for at least a week.

I called the vet because I can't get the Doxycycline pills down Sugar. I have tried wieners and pill pockets and she just eats what's around the pill and spits the pill out. The vet ordered a liquid for her.

My friends that are camping this weekend posted pictures of the Mardi Gras decorations they put up. They go a little overboard sometimes.

Just popping in with some thoughts~~~

Martha, I just watched a TicToc video of a dog that wouldn't take pills. If it was a capsule, they guy broke it open and put it in a piece of lunchmeat. A pill he pulverized it. Made me think maybe dogs can tell there's an odd form when you give it to them whole, and they maybe gulp down a lunch meat or cheese treat so fast, they can't tell. Pill time is when I miss Molly. Just had to ask her if "you want this?", and she ate them like a treat.

I like the shower doors they put in the smaller Grand Design trailers. They have a self squeegee so I just do the walls. It doesn't swing, so no dripping on the floor.

As for my nerves about hitting the road again, I think it may have more to do with where I'm heading (to the crowded NE) and worries about the world nowadays. I'm not worried about towing, well except for winds

So far I'm booked thru mid-June for CGs. 2-3 more to make, thru 4th of July, then I can rest. Just want to make sure I've got something for the holiday.

Looks like March will be coming in like a lamb, which means out like a lion. Hope that doesn't happen.

That's it from the Chitown burbs. Have a good day ladies.

The problem with my shower door in my motorhome is that it is in three pieces and telescopes when you are done with your shower. Then you have to lock it open by putting a hook over the handle. When it is closed so you can take a shower, the panels overlap each other by about 2 inches, so it would be impossible to squeegee it anyway, though I admit I never squeegeed by single panel door in my condo--too lazy, I guess.

The strips I posted an image of supposedly keep water from coming out between the panels, but they are now yellowed and look awful, but I am unwilling to spend $140 on new ones from Home Depot. Anyway, there is that 2" overlap, so last night i took the strips off before taking my shower and no water came out anyway, so I think I am just going to toss them. I think you would have to aim the shower wand directly at the door to cause water on the floor!

Drove 50 miles each way today to visit the Audabon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary which is south of here. I discovered it in about 1982 when my ex was working down here, and i took kids for a month each year for three years to stay with him. At that time, tens of thousands of wood storks were nesting in the old growth bald cypress trees, plus lots of things to watch from the boardwalk, like alligators, birds, and turtles. Every time I have come to Florida in the past 35 years, i have always visited it at least a couple of times. Only problem today is that it was really hot and the water level is a bit low--need to go in December next time when there is more water and more birds. No mosquitos in the swamp, by the way, because there are little fish that eat the nymphs and eggs. But the boardwalk was 2.5 miles and even with two bottles of frozen water that I took, i was hot and exhausted at the end. Could barely make it out, but did enjoy it. Will go back in a couple of weeks when i can find a cooler day.

I updated my blog last night with photos of birds at this campground i took the day before. I was really disappointed that the river otters seemed to be gone. They have lived in a small creek in the campground that empties into the Caloosahatchee river, and I noticed that their old burrow was filled in. However, this morning when i drove out at 9 am, I could look down the little stream and saw them playing under the little pedestrian bridge that crosses the creek right by their old burrow. They must have a new burrow or two in the rocks along the sides of the creek. Will go and try to get photos tomorrow. They are fascinating to watch and the bridge puts you about 7 feet directly above them! The little side creek also has small fish and crustaceans, so it attracts a lot of birds, as well. One of the birds, a limpkin, eats a lot of shellfish, so he has left piles of small shells on several rocks. Check out my blog!! Besides the creek bird and otter watching, you can also walk across the big dam and watch boats going through the lock on the other side. The river is a shortcut from Port St Lucie on the Atlantic coast, through Lake Okeechobee, and on to Fort Myers on the Gulf of Mexico, so it is traveled by a lot of people spending their winter in cruisers or sailboats. In other words, they are RVers on water!!

Cheryl, I have to admit I'm not sorry I'm not going east this year as planned. That traffic simply isn't something I like. I totally understand that hesitation. I'm planning next summer now for my NE trip and get butterflies thinking about it.

Judy, great place. Thanks for sharing.

It got up to 28 degrees today but after the sleet/ice storm yesterday, complete with thunder the ice hasn't melted off the trees. The odd thing was it rained during the night and all the ice was gone from the sidewalk and driveway. The sun came out briefly this morning and the trees were all sparkly and beautiful. Tomorrow starts a warm up and next week looks much better.

I can't image giving a pill to a cat but with the dogs I just open their mouth and push it down the side of their mouth. Then I hold their muzzle shut and rub under their chin until they swallow. For some reason though the bigger the dog the easier it is.

I'm ready for bed and it is only eight o'clock! I woke up too early this morning. Pippa doesn't settle until around ten but thankfully so far sleeps through the night.

I was getting ready to go yesterday when I got a phone call from one of my dd's telling me that my youngest dd needed to get a hold of me (guess she tried while I was in the shower) so I called her back (I was going to spend Thurs and Friday night with her) but turned out that her toilet over flowed and they had water down in the basement which is where I sleep at when there... so she uninvited me... :? which put me in a predicament as to where to stay... but then she called back and told me that her father in law called and invited me to their house... :) had a nice visit with them... then my eldest dd text and said that I could come up told her that I would come up on Friday... Jello plans right???
was fortunate in that the pass was cleared of snow on the highway... both of them!!! I don't do driving in snow happily .... :? and got the car started using the way the guy said to do if "key not detected" but when you use the key (a normal key) to unlock the door the panic button sounds!!! guess it's a security measure...
it's been a something dealing with the fob not working correctly... dd and sil are going to be down on Sunday it sounded like they will either get a new fob or take the car to the dealers... not sure which...
spent the day with youngest and her two kids... guess the over flow was due to something that just didn't go down right at the moment because it seems to be flushing correctly .. while the plumbers were out they looked at the hot water heater as it wasn't staying hot as long thought maybe it needed flushing out... but when they looked no drain and the part that they would unscrew to drain it was rusted shut... all total it sounds like a new heater before this one explodes... they also recommended that all the pipes be replaces as it's all the old galvanized pipes showed how much rust was building up in the screen of the faucet and given again the age of the house the educated guess what that they should be replaced as well but that was a gool 10000 that maybe a hmmmm we will wait and see they actually hope to put it on the market this summer...so it's a question as to if they need to or not but the value of the house is way up there..
she told me what my old house is worth... wow wish we had hung on to it... for lots of reason's
I can't imagine what it will be like when I get to tow again... as I always get nervous when towing at first and then in area's where the traffic is worse..
went to a used book store was able to get some of the books that I've missed due to not finding them ... was wearing flip flops because no snow right??? caught the end on some part of the sidewalk and biffed it... knees hurt now but no bruises  but my knees always hurt this was just more than normal...
looking forward to the play tomorrow night dd and granddaughter are talking about it ... not the play but what gd did and how she felt about different moments... she is very animated right now
you all have a great day guess tomorrow is the aquarium as a surprise for the great grand daughter... hopefully I will enjoy walking more tomorrow than tonight :o

Last night I did a haircut in the park after work, then went to bed early. Got up this morning and went to do another haircut. This lady got her haircut somewhere last week and didn't get what she wanted. Well, she told me she asked for an upside down bob and partly a pixie! Well that is what she got pretty much but not what she really wanted. After asking some questions, I realized she actually wanted a layered bob with shorter layers on top and whispy face-framing. I had my work cut out for me to get it there from basically a shag. By the time I was done, it looked pretty much like a layered bob with whispies around her face. She was thrilled. I do love a good challenge tho! :D

Later went to do 2 more haircuts. Didn't do too much after that other than shopping on Amazon. I want to get rid of my double bed and get a twin bed so I will have more space in my room. I am looking for a frame (with headboard and footboard), airbed, and new bedding, which I found but won't buy until I find a buyer for my bed and get my tax refund. The whole set up isn't more than $150 tho. Just don't want to spend it before I have it! I still have a windshield to buy first!

There is a new thing called a Better Bedder that is a cloth band that goes around your bed to hold your flat sheet in place. You can tuck your sheet in it instead of having to tuck them under the mattress. I would think it would be good for RV beds to make it easier to make them.

Back to work tomorrow. Work from 9-6 with a one hour lunch. Should be good and tired by the end of the day! I have Sunday off and so far no haircuts scheduled so hopefully, I can get my laundry done. Also hoping they got the washers and dryers all fixed by now. They were supposed to be working on them this week.

Maybe by next week, I can start working on the cat thunder gourd for my cat sitter.

I better get to bed. Am getting sleepy and have a long day tomorrow.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
