Wednesday February 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday February 23

Morning All, overcast but 60° predicted before big temperature drop. Weather so goofy I can’t keep up. Just dealing with everyday chores and eating prepared meals out of freezer. Lending a helping hand to family where needed, errands, etc. just taking one day at a time. Lol be safe

Morning, Shirl and all who follow. Winds seem to not be as bad today. Fingers crossed this is a trend to continue. Nothing really planned today. I'm enjoying pictures of the snow in Valdez. One of my summers there some of the plowed piles hadn't completely thawed by the time I left early September! They actually plow most of the snow into Prince William Sound, which never freezes. Most amazing for me was driving in through Thompson pass mid May with the plowed snow more than a couple stories high on either side. It's the only drivable way to reach Valdez so kept open. It gets a couple hundred more inches of snow each year than Valdez. Valdez averages over 300 on a normal winter and got over 560 inches for it's record. Just some tidbits stuck in my head lol

Have a great day everyone.

I saw Anne logged in. I hope she starts posting again.

I'm here. Feeling better though still fatigued and coughing as was predicted. I'm now day 12, which is nearing when others report symptoms almost gone. Pretty typical for this to have ups and downs day 10-15. Slowly will get back to activity, though the fatigue is factor. Thankful for vaccinations so this wasn't worse and friends who checked on us. Hope to go back to Curves in another week or so. I never really "got" the difference between tired and fatigued before. Now I do. This virus has a major fatigue factor that apparently lasts a few weeks. Want to do stuff but no energy.
Chilly in 30's here overnight. But sun streaming through my window. Will watch my live watercolor painting class soon, though not up to pulling out paper and markers and stamps yet. I'll enjoy chatting with friends as the teacher shares her skill.
Take care everyone.

Beautiful sunny day here in northern Michigan. But cold wind. The storm has moved on east. Was kind to us though, although yesterday was not a good day to be out and got kind of nasty in the afternoon. Number of businesses shut down early and some didn’t bother to open. We only had 0.10” of ice from fre3zingvrain, tbe rest was sleet/snow mix. But just a gentle wind, no power outages. We had a funy burst of big fat snowflakes, followed by sleet, followed by sun peaking out along with fine snowflakes, all in the span of 10 minutes  Crazy weather. In all, we got a layer of gritty snow/ice on the ground, not quite an inch. Covered the ice in my yard :D Ran the small blower over the drive and walks, so the sun can stsrt melting the ice patches.

So this morning I headed to the basement. Finished putting a couple things back on the shelves, got the stuff for donation set by the stairs, will take that up tomorrow, the toss out stuff is in the garage. Everything’s done and organized. Now to get the floor paint.

BJ, I think it’s not so much motivation as it is seasonal goal setting. Winter are long here. So, I leave things I want to do inside, for the winter months. But I know that by this time of year, the days are getting longer and gradually warmer, and I am going to want to be outside or Maybe off taking a day trip someplace. So I set my self a goal to accomplish thus and such by end of winter. This year it was having the bathroom remodeled and both of them painted in January. This month was painting and sorting out stuff in my basement store rooms. Next month I want to clean kitchen cupboards4 and them I can putter with craft stuff and Geanology. Summers are short and anything goes. And of course fall brings the chores that need doing before winter. Course there’s errands, appts., days off as I call them, afternoon dog walks etc. thrown in. Keeps me busy and a reason to get up in the mornings.

That’s a lot of snow out in AK Beth. Your description of driving through the pass with stories high snow, reminds me of tbe trip I took with my aunt and uncle out west. We were on our way home from the Canadian Rockies and visiting my mom and aunts hometown in WA. We were following U.S.2 and they had just opened the pass in Glacier, rhe day before we got there. Snow was at least 20 feet high on both sides of the road and this as early July. Gee, do they treat the roads in AK? I would think plowing the snow into Prince William sound would be an environmental hazard, but maybe not. The far western part of the UP especially in the Keweenaw peninsula gets a ton of snow too. Some places are over 200 inches already.

Guess I had better get my supper preps underway. Making a Amish casserole called Yum A Setta, so need to thaw my hamburger, get tbe egg noodles cooking etc.

Hello from cold PA! Talk about an upside down day, was 56 at 7:30 this morning and now it’s 31! And windy so feels colder. Tomorrow evening the storm is forecasted to move into our area with ice and snow and into Friday morning. Just hoping to be able to use the snowblower! At least they aren’t forecasting a huge amount of snow. I did some running around this afternoon and actually found onion rings at the small grocery store around the corner from me. The clerk at the larger store kinda whispered to me to try there since they haven’t had them for quite awhile. I went to Wei’s first mostly to try to find the canned dog food for pup and since they had it I got several cans. This crazy way of shopping is starting to feel like the norm sad though it is. I’m not even sure why I’ve been wanting onion rings other then it’s sounded good!
Just heard on the news that we may have a small campground here in town. Apparently they want to utilize more of the 77 acres at Cold Stream. This is near where I can dump yard debris and there is a playground, soccer field and fishing area there too. It’s going to be interesting since it may have just a few electric sites but not sure what they’ll be doing about a bathroom and showers. They’ve been expanding the trails so good walking too. That’s usually where we walk. Rascal was happy the other day since we were able to go for a nice walk at the project area. Velda, take it easy and don’t push yourself. Karen, glad your starting to get your energy back. Sue, sounds like you just had what we’re going to be getting! Guess, I really should finish putting things away and think about some dinner. At least I know what to feed Rascal! Have a good evening and stay warm!

It got up to 85 and it's still 71. There is a front about mid state and it's in the 30's up there. The front keeps going up and down but I don't think it is going to come through here until about Friday. There was rain predicted for all week but it keeps getting less and less. My brother sent me a picture of the path through the snow to his work shop. The snow in his yard is about 3 foot deep. I told him he needs to be a snowbird.

My son was going to bring the truck back so I wanted to try to get the Mazda to the tire shop. One of the tires had a slow leak and I have been airing it up for a month. I wanted to bring it in when someone was around that could pick me up if I didn't make it to town. When I brought him back to Lafayette we went by Aldi's. All I can say is it's different. I didn't get to go up and down every aisle since my son was with me. The store is about half as large as most grocery stores and doesn't have a big selection. It looks like there is a lot of their brand.

The parish animal control posted a picture of a cat that looks like one of my cats that has been missing. I ask if they had checked it for a microchip. I started getting the cats I brought to Spay Nation microchipped. The reply was that it was dropped off as an o/s cat like I know what that is. Out side? Tomorrow I'll go make sure it's not MeMe.

Was a chilly (mid 50's), windy day today. Was still snowing in the mountains this morning but I could see some of the mountains thru broken clouds and the snow line is very low, about 2000 ft. Once it all clears out by tomorrow, it should be beautiful to see! They sure need the snow up there. Will be back in the 80's by early next week.

Work was quiet today which was fine with me. I am tired anyways. Just watching some TV tonight and will get to bed soon since I am starting to fall asleep on the couch.

Tomorrow after work, I have a haircut to do, and then have Friday off. Have 3 haircuts to do that day. I really need to get some stuff done around here, but am so busy on my days off, I haven't had a chance to do much.

Martha, I hope the cat is your missing kitty and you can get him back. I don't know what an o/s cat is either.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie .... I totally agree that if they do close this feed lot that they need to wean the elk off later feeding them and cut off sooner perhaps??? I don't know the answer to that
Velda.... hope you start getting your energy back and how is your son?
it can be totally amazing the piles of snow that can be made...I noticed the other day that there is one white car totally boxed in with snow from the snow plow pushing it up to close to the car...I don't know if it was abandoned or what but it will be awhile before it can be claimed
my son in law and my grandson brought over the journey so I can take it to Utah this week because it was parked toward the center of the driveway I had a hard time getting mom's car out of the garage kept running into the snow bank by the fence.... so put the car back in the garage and took the Journey... went to the store went to lock the door and it didn't want to lock so thought I need to talk to sil and see what the secret is... came out and got in and tried starting it nope didn't want to at all kept saying key not detected while the key was right there right were I was told to put it... (it's a keyless start) so call sil and he thinks perhaps the battery is dead so I dashed as quickly as I can dash back in get the battery and ask the young man that was working with not sure what but thought he could get the fob opened faster than I'd be able to do which he did went out oh forgot to mentioned that when I got out of the door the panic button was activated and going off so when I got fairly close I hit the panic button and it stop way one win.... got in and it started so on to my next stop picked up my Swedish Weave hopefully the stain came out haven't checked it over yet but they said if I find it didn't to bring it back and they will try again... hope it did it cost 19 dollars... and the car started so on to the next stop the post office found a parking spot went in and got the mail and back out to the car and .... it didn't start key not detected called my son in law and tried every thing.... he suggested... he was going to have his wife come bring the other key but just in case look for the key in the car.... couldn't find it.... so I called my nephew and he came and took me back to mom's my dd's both of them came and asked if I stepped on the brake well yes I did so they took the key and went to the car and after not too long they were back asked again did you step on the brake??? I said did you get the car started??? yep.... but only after we followed a you tube on how to start car with a message key not detected... so proceeded to tell me what I will need to do.... hopefully it will work as I will need to do it each time I turn off the car... I got so cold I think at that time it was under 15 it's now -5 oh and we had a slight earthquake out in the refuge or just east of it... but very slight 2.something
so that was my day I did get a couple of batches of clothes washed .... need to go and do some packing but first a game or two...
have a great day
hopefully Anne will once again visit with us

Sue, I can't find anything online saying they put snow in the sound, but they told me they do and I believe them. Thompson pass gets more snow than the glacier road you weren't on, but Thompson Pass is kept clear all winter. When it snows plows work 24 hours a day... And they have some fancy plows. They need them because they often are plowing in blackout conditions! Here's an article on it that I find fascinating:
https://www.trucknews.com/transportatio ... 003126212/

Practice whatever you have to do Sheila to start that car, maybe several times, even if just in the driveway!

Martha, I think o/s means owner surrendered, but please still check! I'm not sure. And if my weather is coming to you, brrr. Lol. It for into the low 80's here today, winds picked up in the afternoon. Then Ty and I went to take a walk and I needed to come back in for my sweatshirt and I was still cold. It's warmer now than it was then, but temps only in the 60's for highs tomorrow (I guess today now). Then highs in 50's for the next few days. I guess Barbie is sending those temps east.

I made a small Sam's Club pickup order for tomorrow. Oh, I got an order from Amazon today that was coming directly from them. I've seen them deliver other places but this is the first time mine came direct. Seemed strange to have a driver wearing an Amazon shirt. Stranger was getting a text saying the truck had 8 more stops before me with a link to google maps showing my location and where the truck was! Last update was telling me I would be the next stop. And then the truck pulled up.

Time to get Ty out quickly and head to bed.

Sheila~ All vehicles I've owned that have a keyless start have a way to get in the vehicle (the fob pulls apart to reveal an actual key) and a way to start the vehicle if the fob battery is dead. There is usually a specific spot to place the fob, usually in a console or cup holder (if the cup holder has a plastic liner, you'd have to remove it). Then the vehicle detects the key to start.

Thanks for the key fob info, Cheryl. I wondered why there was a key to open the door, but not to start the car. Now I'll have to search through my owners manual and discover which way my car starts. Goes to show that cup holders have many more uses than a place to park coffee! I keep saying my car is smarter than I am and after owning her for a year I'm still discovering things about her.
