Beautiful sunny day here in northern Michigan. But cold wind. The storm has moved on east. Was kind to us though, although yesterday was not a good day to be out and got kind of nasty in the afternoon. Number of businesses shut down early and some didn’t bother to open. We only had 0.10” of ice from fre3zingvrain, tbe rest was sleet/snow mix. But just a gentle wind, no power outages. We had a funy burst of big fat snowflakes, followed by sleet, followed by sun peaking out along with fine snowflakes, all in the span of 10 minutes
Crazy weather. In all, we got a layer of gritty snow/ice on the ground, not quite an inch. Covered the ice in my yard
Ran the small blower over the drive and walks, so the sun can stsrt melting the ice patches.
So this morning I headed to the basement. Finished putting a couple things back on the shelves, got the stuff for donation set by the stairs, will take that up tomorrow, the toss out stuff is in the garage. Everything’s done and organized. Now to get the floor paint.
BJ, I think it’s not so much motivation as it is seasonal goal setting. Winter are long here. So, I leave things I want to do inside, for the winter months. But I know that by this time of year, the days are getting longer and gradually warmer, and I am going to want to be outside or Maybe off taking a day trip someplace. So I set my self a goal to accomplish thus and such by end of winter. This year it was having the bathroom remodeled and both of them painted in January. This month was painting and sorting out stuff in my basement store rooms. Next month I want to clean kitchen cupboards4 and them I can putter with craft stuff and Geanology. Summers are short and anything goes. And of course fall brings the chores that need doing before winter. Course there’s errands, appts., days off as I call them, afternoon dog walks etc. thrown in. Keeps me busy and a reason to get up in the mornings.
That’s a lot of snow out in AK Beth. Your description of driving through the pass with stories high snow, reminds me of tbe trip I took with my aunt and uncle out west. We were on our way home from the Canadian Rockies and visiting my mom and aunts hometown in WA. We were following U.S.2 and they had just opened the pass in Glacier, rhe day before we got there. Snow was at least 20 feet high on both sides of the road and this as early July. Gee, do they treat the roads in AK? I would think plowing the snow into Prince William sound would be an environmental hazard, but maybe not. The far western part of the UP especially in the Keweenaw peninsula gets a ton of snow too. Some places are over 200 inches already.
Guess I had better get my supper preps underway. Making a Amish casserole called Yum A Setta, so need to thaw my hamburger, get tbe egg noodles cooking etc.
