Good that you can stay where you are for a while. Maybe if daughter lives with this guy for a while, she will change her mind and come "home."

And you can use Uber in the meantime to go places.

My mom was without a car long before all of today's options. Her only choice was a taxi. I don't know what you have there, but like Judy just said, there's always uber. And I'm so glad you have time to look at your options.

Lyn, so sorry to hear this. What a shock this must be for you. Take your time to consider all options. I wish I was closer to help out. Will keep you in my prayers. Love you!

Definitely try to convince your daughter to live at least 1 winter in NH before selling the condo. Although my DD always wanted to live in Paris, just 1 winter did her in. She misses the sunshine, the warmth & more importantly her family. She hates being so cold, the constant rain, short days & the overall dreariness of winter there. She plans on moving back to the sunshine of CA before next winter.

In the meantime as far as transportation goes, I've always been impressed with the many low-cost options here for seniors so I googled it for San Diego. Here's an article I found https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/caregiver/caregiving-essentials/meals-transportation/sd-me-caregiver-seniors-mobility-20180424-story.html Its from 2018 but lists many services available - some of which may still be operating.

Just don't rush into anything just yet. Good to look into your options, but unless you are excited about something you find, just stay put & make whatever adjustments you need to until (or if) your daughter makes the move permanent.

Love you!

I am not so mad now. I have put an app on my iPad for UBER. Since investigating lots of senior apts and assisted living charges, my decision (today) is to stay right here at the condo. We have a very nice house keeper who comes in once a month and does a good deep cleaning.
With the pool and a treadmill in our exercise room, that’s what I would use at assisted living. I have been gathering very easy receipts to use in both the slow cooker and airfryer. I can also get around on my mobility scooter to 3 grocery stores and 4 restaurants for take out.
Found a site for home health care if I ever need that.
Val has sworn positively she will not sell the condo out from under me. She will take the dog with her. Maybe I will get a cat! I do love cats too.
Just wanted to let you all know I am emotionally feeling better. I appreciate all your support.

Lynn, so glad you have made a decision it is the most agonizing part. Sounds like you have a solid plan. Most grocery stores now days will deliver. That would be helpful for heavy items and you could scoot for fresh produce. Beth’s choice of delivered prepared meals sounds like an option too.
She believed she could and you sure did. (Hugs)

Lyn, I'm so glad things aren't looking as bad/scary. I was thinking just today about your mobility scooter. It sounds like it'll come in very handy. Hugs.

My step sister lives in New York City. Other than she lives in a rent controlled 4th floor walk up, she has mentioned on more than one occasion that it is easy to get almost any thing you want delivered or serviced with just a phone call in the city. I still can't imagine being a prisoner on the forth floor if I lost the ability to walk up stairs but it is what she likes. She considers those of us living out in the hinterlands as peasants mostly,

Knowing how centrally located your condo is and its wonderful amenities, I think you will continue to manage quite well. And there will be one very lucky cat.

Now that you are satisfied with a plan you can sit back and wait for next winter's weather reports of the Northeast.....
