Thursday February 17

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday February 17

Morning All, sunny and warmer. Found a new recipe from Whipperwill Holler which I will try today and did post a link. Will go nicely with the bowl of vegetable beef soup for dinner. Need to run in store for self rising flour, will check on winter sowing jugs to see if they need water and pick up a Amazon package. Thunderstorms and wind coming my way tonight so need to think of protection for the fragile mini green house. Velda, healing thoughts coming your way. It’s exciting reading about members travel plans. Karen, waiting for renovation pictures. Beth, I thought the laundry basket looked like a lamp shade too. Lol Need to run errands. Be safe

Shirl, if I tried your mini greenhouse here it would be in the next parish today. It is really windy. I was afraid I was going to get rained on this morning but it doesn't look like we are going to get any rain. When I got down the road I heard something grunt in the tall weeds. It was a small wild hog. I was hoping I wouldn't run into his mother.

I started a load of laundry. I treated the shirt I wore to eat crawfish and got it all over the front. I hope the stains come out. Most places that serve crawfish have bibs but that place didn't. Don't know what else I'll do today, probably nothing. I need to go get cat food either today or tomorrow.

I made it back to my own driveway early yesterday as I woke up and got ahead of the blustery 30-40 mile per hour winds that were predicted. Gave me plenty of time to unload, get the laundry started and things put away. Knowing that the cleaning girls were coming this morning was motivation to keep moving yesterday. I even managed to take Lark over to the store with the raised dog wash (so I don't have to lean over here at home) and then came home and bathed both Jane and Audrey in the "Flying Pig" tub that I have that fits so nicely in my shower. Clean dogs now waiting for some much needed nail trimming, especially Audrey who hasn't seen the Dremel since I left in January but since it is raining I think I will use the afternoon to take the bedding and the two large dog rugs from the RoadTrek down to wash in the big washers at the laundromat. Haven't made any of the list of phone calls waiting for me but I will get to them soon enough. After rambling around for 5-6 weeks and I will admit that my bed felt pretty good. The 28 inch wide bed in the RoadTrek needs some improvements for this old back.....

Martha the winds are about 1/2 what they were yesterday but I just hung out my sheets to dry. Shouldn't take long at all but took twice as many clothes pins! I put my clothes in the dryer. Yesterday when I tried opening windows within minutes I had dust everywhere. I hope my sheets fare better! Tomorrow is still saying moderate winds then better the next day.

Velda, thanks for checking in and here's hoping you continue your improving.

Tina, I guess these winds are everywhere. I wasn't expecting them this early!

I need a boat!! It has been pouring for hours here. Martha I think we are getting your share. That wild hog would have scared me even it was little. Glad the mamma didn't come out.
Shirl that was a great video, I'm probably going to be saying you all for the rest of the day. I liked her accent and I bet she is a really friendly person. When I lived in San Diego a friend I spent a lot of time with was from Georgia. I picked up her accent in no time and when I moved back here people kept asking if I had really been in SD as I sounded like I was from the south. I think the thing to do on this rainy afternoon is to nap. I'll finish my glass of wine first!
Glad you made it back home before the winds TIna. Good luck with your laundry Beth!
Good grief it is raining even harder now. I wonder how many inches we will end up with. It is in the 40's now but supposed to drop to 16 tonight!

Well I guess I wont complain about the fog today considering you are all having my least favorite weather condition...........wind. It is 42 right now so not bad. I just went to the "real" grocery store. Managed to spend $150 I havent been for a while and I sure did notice the price of things has skyrocketed. The only plus is we have everything, well stocked shelves. I bought a pack of 2 turkey thighs so will cook one tomorrow. I still have 3 turkey hindquarters in my freezer but they said will keep up to 2 years ha ha ha I'm not going to test that theory tho. Got it all put away and now resting in the recliner. Still working towards that 100% well. Bought some nice deli meat and cheese so will have 1/2 a sandwich for lunch.

Tomorrow I get my 1st walk in shower installed, thank goodness. I have been looking for contractors since last january. They all were booked or disinterested. These guys are great so lucky to have found them.

Velda glad you are on the mend, lets hope Chris doesnt get it too badly. Shirl I will have to try those biscuits one of these days when I have company. I usually make the ones from the onedishkitchen site. I like them fresh out of the oven rather than frozen and reheated.
Glad Tina made it home after a successful journey.

Back from errands, winter sowing jugs are full of condensation so think that is a good sign. Tied twine around mini green house and shoved it in a protective corner. Hope it doesn’t flip its top. It is 61°sunny, just a beautiful day. I ride country roads to my daughters so had the window down, Righteous Brothers blaring. Large line of trucks laying cable on a stretch of road. Guess I had the music louder than I realized. By the time I reached the last truck a young fellow was dancing and laughing on the side of the road. America is alive and well in Queen Anne’s county. Lol

BJ, is it 5 o'clock somewhere? I should finish off the bottle of wine that's in the refrigerator. It's the one from Sam's that they made sound good. It's just ok so didn't have to go get any more.

Shirl, I made your rolls and they are good. I used a smaller muffin tin so I have(had) 12. I like the Righteous Brothers too.

Shirl, love the dancer story - thanks for the chuckle! Actually, 2nd chuckle of the day - I sent new friend who bought my truck the link to the Alaska video since last I heard he plans to go this summer. His return text had photos of his new/first grandbaby. One showed the results of a serious diaper blowout. Glad I wasn't changing it!

Monica is home again today and miserable. Velda, I, too, hope Chris doesn't get Covid. Just learned my pregnant niece got positive result after they got to Hawaii to visit her sister's family. Poor souls had balcony overlooking the ocean for the 'baby moon' and quarantine! :D

I'm going to try those rolls! Martha, glad the mother hog didn't show up! Tina, glad you are safely home, but all your chores made me tired! Karen, glad your project is back on track.

Can't complain about the weather here. Winter was much shorter than I had anticipated! Got down to 31 overnight, but I had no heat on in the apartment and living room was 65 when I got up late (9:30).

just a stay at home day... did a load of wash still need to fold it yet... but will do that in a few... after I have a game or two of my game...
just been lazy can't really say that I accomplished much not sure why did some word search... even lazy when it came to supper.. I was in the mood for a sandwich... had some bbq beef gave that to mom and I made me a tuna fish sandwich mom wasn't impressed with what I was eating at all she doesn't like tuna I do though...
the story about singing in the car reminded me of once when my dd and I along with her little guy not sure how old he was was but old enough he needed some entertaining... we had a tape of "his" songs on and when the spider goes up the rain spout she was doing the hand movements to it .... a guy passes us and when he gets in front of us you could almost see the "light" come on and he started to do the hand movements... had to laugh.. a fun memory to recall every once in awhile....
Martha I think seeing a wide hog would be scarier than seeing a baby bear...well maybe on the same level  got to keep an eye out for mama ...
Tina glad that you are home safe and sound.. and beat the winds
saw on the news the other day that those high winds were going to be a wide and long swatch when they said the distance it sounded like most of length of the nation... but then I don't know the length of the nation.. need to look that up a question was on the news the other day (local news) some like which is longest the great wall or east to west coast...might determine what part of the nation is measured the upper or the lower???
read an interesting article today on Yahoo... about a little boy in World war II a little Jewish boy that got caught outside his home and taken by the Nazi's he was put in this line that forked determining which they determined you go into one was the more valuable people the other the very old in firmed and old one line would live the other wouldn't he latched onto a lady with two little girls and asked if he could be her son for a time... they were allowed to live long story shorten eventually he ended up in the states went to a wedding and mentioned to someone where he lived she said she knew someone that lived in that town.. and how she told about saving a little boy he replied I'm that little boy... so he was given the phone number of his "mother" and he went to thank her once again met her two daughter's fell in love with one of them married became a rabbi a really interesting story ... a neat ending
you all have a great day
oh Velda glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better... hopefully Chris will not be positive... when my mom and I had it neither my brother sister in law or niece got it who can figure out and yet other homes all do...

Sheila, I remember reading that story awhile back. Was very interesting!
