Happy Valentine's Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Valentine's Day

Postby Bethers » Mon Feb 14, 2022 11:45 am

Hope everyone has a great day. Nothing planned here today but sunny and good temps so I see plenty of outside time. Maybe a quick run to the store for a couple things, but might save that for another day. I look forward to any and all itty bitty news.

Good afternoon Beth and all that check in!

There is very little itty bitty news on my end. We had a wonderful past couple of days with my sisters and bil. We did lots of eating, visiting and just having a good time.

We woke up to 38 degrees this morning and will only get into the low 60's. Tomorrow we will be back in the low 70's. I talked to Carolb this morning for our weekly Monday phone call and said she thinks of all of you often. It is very cold where she is! Nothing special is going on here for Valentine's Day and having burgers for dinner proves it!

Have a great Monday!

Afternoon All, bizarre weather, 27° and sunny had heavy snowfall for 30 minutes early. Covered sidewalks and road. Hour later it was gone. Suppose to be in the 40’s starting Wednesday. Beth, no news here. Doing household chores. Watched a woman plant salad green seeds in a bag of dirt. Would make a mess on balcony floor but there must be another way. Will think on it. :D Be safe

Yes, Happy Valentines Day to all.
Saturday went to 7th birthday party for GGS. We also broke all heat records for the day at 91*
The SB was on my TV but didn’t watch much. Watched nothing of halftime.
Going to get a bowl of Greek soup. Love it.

Good morning!

Just a little refresher, Beth. :D I was already at the store ahead of the group - you just hadn't spotted me yet! :) I left them early to come see you, but they showed up sooner than I expected - practically on my tail!

Super Bowl commercials were disappointing this year, but liked the outcome of the game. :) Given I was with a couple almost 50 year olds, I had to endure half-time!

Predicted snow did not happen overnight and I'm not counting on the predicted rain. Shirl, that's my kind of snow - pretty and then gone!

Granddaughter who had/has Crohn's now has pyoderma gangrenosum. Had to look that one up! Large painful skin ulcers usually on the legs. Appears to be a disorder of the immune system. She's had more than one young person deserves - will soon turn 23.

Talking myself into getting ready for the day and cleaning the kitchen.

Anita, I feel so sorry for your granddaughter. She's been through so much. I also Googled that and it said the same thing you did. I hope whatever treatment she is getting works.

No itty bitty news here either. Was up from 2-3 a.m. watching Women’s Aerials via live streaming since it wasn’t televised. Local gal didn’t qualify for finals. Lot of stiff competition there, plus bad landing in her second attempt. There were a lot of bad landings. Not serious, just loss 0f balance type things once they landed. But she made it to the world stage which was better than a lot of people Now am cheering on the U.S. Women's Hockey team as they are in the finals for Gold.

Went to town, had lunch out, did some shopping, came home, took dogs for neighborhood walk. So much for today. Was a chilly 15° When we were out. At one point last night it was -17 with a real feel of -26. But it was -11 when I got up. One more cold night they say. Weather is looking nice for tomorrow and up to as high as 40° by Wednesday. But we are supposed to have rain and rain mixed with snow on Wednesday.

Karen, your projects are like mine. My fence project is at a standstill because of the weather and I don’t know if he will get here this week or not. But there is no hurry.

Happy Valentine's day.

Attended my class, then walked to Costco - got in about 6700 steps. Only wanted eggs & a rosterie chicken. I really have to limit what I buy since I have to carry it home. Next time I'll take my little cart with me.

My son & GD just dropped by with flowers for me for valentine's day. We had a nice little visit & they are now off to pick up steaks for dinner. I'm not used to folks just dropping by - I told him I almost didn't open the door.

I'm really getting into French history now - reading a book titled "The Terror" which documents the Franch revolution & how it came about. I wish I'd read it before going to France because now I know where things took place & know that I have been there. Can't wait to get back & have a more thorough knowledge of their history.

Anita, so sorry for your granddaughter - she really has been thru so much. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Well, my break is over - back to doing homework for Wednesday's class since I have my little buddy tomorrow.
Hope you all have a little something special today.
Take care,
Catherine

got up this morning and the house felt very warm again looked at the thermostat it was up to 70 again actually felt good to me but when you are used to it being colder know that something is wrong... so let brother #3 know he called a company my nephew called the same company my brother in Lander tried but no one called him back...they actually came over and found out that it was a sensor replaced the sensor and immediately could feel it cooling down and now we are back to cold again... but at least it wasn't a verdict of you need a new furnace this one came with the house dad and my sister died 49 years ago this coming fall not sure how much later that mom had this house built but I am sure within a couple of years... so it's a old furnace... they are not meant to work forever but it was a real relief that she doesn't need a new one ... at this time... don't know what the cost of the part/labor will be she asked they said a bill will be sent...
did get the plants watered.. scriptures read and did call the mail box and see if my tags were there they were not so guess I will have to send for a duplicut need to take care of that tomorrow... went to the store hoping that mom's rx would be ready it wasn't don't know why it hasn't been called in but!!! it's frustrating did get a few to hold us over... it's like I told mom if he want's to see her then we need to hear that... or call in the RX and say it's the last till he see's her.. in the mean time I will have to go back again although there was on line today  a first!!!
picked up a few things as well as those free masks... first time I've seen them...
my mom isn't into sports can't say that I am either although will watch the ice skating the figure type really do enjoy that... but the other day for some reason she didn't switch stations so watched a snow boarding but more of the skate boarding set up... make sense? was amazed at the ability to keep their boards with them and to do these tricks so many feet up in the air!!! was amazed it was one of the American's last time as he is retiring at the ripe old age of 35 if I recall correctly an old man compared to the rest of the men ...
one of the shows that I enjoy on Hallmark Movies is the A Teagarten's they are doing a thing this week showing all of her movies... think the first one tonight was the first but never have seen it... got some back ground that I've never heard
while out I picked up a couple of small pizza's should have only gotten one... not only due to the cost but we only ate 3 pieces so stuck a couple in fridge and the rest in freezer... I hear air fryer's are great pizza's heaters
didn't really accomplish much today but oh well you all have a great night

Really late posting today. I dumped my tanks today and then went out to get propane. I was amazed at how much he put in--probably would have run out this afternoon! Then stopped at Dominos and got a pizza to go. Had two pieces for lunch and froze the rest, so that is four meals for me--freezer is stuffed, so not much room, but I need to pick up a couple of things on my way to Lake Louisa tomorrow. I also put away all the outside stuff, not that I had that much to put away, but I took tablecloth off and folded it, put chair away, and then put hose away since I have enough water for tonight and to drive tomorrow.

My project for today was to clean out my bottom kitchen drawer where I store a few tools and such. Found stuff I did not know I had and tossed a few things. Some stuff needs to go in toolbag I store outside, but i have to sort though that a toss extra stuff before I do that. That will be my project for tomorrow night.

Will stop for a few things at Walmart on the way tomorrow, so that will be it. I am also putting a few things as I go into a duffel bag so I don't forget to pack it for the UK. I have some washing detergent sheets that I like because they pack well. Most of time I will be washing stuff out in sink, so I also packed some small hooks I have for drying clothing. Plus I found some extra camera chips I did not know I bought, so tossed that in. Will buy a washcloth tomorrow and also packed some paper bathroom cups for pills. Last time i was there I could only find large plastic ones, and I don't use hotel cups. (UK hotels almost never provide washcloths, by the way.) also stuff in my small monocular. Am very careful about weight, but that will really come in handy. And I have a transformer and some plugs that fit in UK receptacles. Probably will not have room for clothing because I only pack a carryon!! I will be taking my computer in a rolling bag, so can put meds and electronic cords in that. whew!!

I slept in a little yesterday and then stopped at the festival to say good-bye to my roommate before heading to Tucson to my brother's. Got gas and checked my mileage. Got 22.6 mpg which isn't bad.

My SIL made sloppy joes for dinner and we watched the Super Bowl. Was a good game that came right down to the last minute to determine the winner. Some commercials were cute but most were not. Half time wasn't too great either. Then we watched the ice dancing. I love watching that since they rarely make mistakes and it is so graceful, passionate and beautiful to watch!

We did a lot of talking too and getting caught up on a lot of things in the family. My brother has gained some weight that looks better than the last couple times I have seen him when he was so thin and frail looking. He has also grown a beard! Have never seen him with one before. He seems to be doing pretty good and his mood is much better than I remember. They have a house now (they were in an apartment in Phoenix) in a community with lots of activities and they have friends from Minnesota who live there so he gets out more now.

SIL made french toast (yum!) for breakfast before I left this morning. I then drove to Yuma to meet Linda (bikerchic) for lunch there. Then headed home from there. Lola is trying to act aloof but I think she is very happy to see me. Getting to bed early since I have to work tomorrow.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Judy, I understand the pack lightly and keep wearing some combination of the same clothes day after day. Washing out underwear was a given when I went to Scotland but since I had bought REI underwear specifically for their wash and drying ability it wasn't a problem. I also found that several of the B&B's offered to wash a load of laundry and when I was on the Isle of Sky I took my hostess up on her offer, coming back to my room from a day of rambling to find a small, neatly folded pile of clean laundry on my bed. So worth it.
