Another winter Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another winter Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Feb 10, 2022 8:21 am

Morning. Just a cloudy, 24°, bit of very fine snow falling Thursday morning. Looking to stay cloudy but no snow Day. . Fence contractor is supposed to be here in about an hour and a half to do the physical fence work. He was here yesterday, but that was to have me sign contract, give him deposit and then we went over the project and made a couple changes in fence line placement. Then he was off to town to get the necessary stuff he needs. Said he would start this morning since he will have the whole day to do it. Unless he determines Weather isn’t suitable. There’s no hurry to get this done. I was surprised he could actually do it this time of year. Originally figured I would get estimate and he would schedule it for when spring Weather arrived. I’ll probably be out there some too, as he is working alone. Same old story, can’t get any help like other contractors up here.

Anita, your travel planning has kind of got me wishing I had some in a way, but yet I’m content here too. The trip to AK sounds like it should be fun. My neighbors are going in July. I will probably head to the U.P. sometime this summer. Too busy right now to think about it, but yet it’s in the back of my mind. Problem with traveling these days, is there are so many people doing it, post pandemic, you need to really plan ahead if you want to go somewhere, and I don’t know when I want to.

Right now I better get cleaned up and dressed. Thanks for the compliments on the paint job. Yes, fresh paint does do wonders doesn’t it. By the wsy, all thos boxes and totes on those shelves are empty  There are a few things on the shelves against the wall where that wreath is sticking out, but that’s it. Storage cupboard is almost empty too. My other storage room has more stuff. That one is next for the paint brush.

Gotta go. Have a great Dsy .

Good morning Sue & all that check in,

Sue, you are certainly keeping yourself busy with projects in the house and on your property. Karen, I'm so happy to hear that you are finally starting to feel better. Sandi, keep posting!

It was 37 degrees when I got up, but as the sun was coming up, we dropped to 34, and right now it is 464 and we'll top off around 68 this afternoon.

This afternoon, my sister and bil will arrive in Webster and staying 3 nights at the campground next to our resort. We had planned on taking them to a winery tomorrow evening for dinner, but when I called to make reservations, they were completely booked for the entire weekend. It looks like people are starting to get out and about. So I called a Brazilian steak house that Nan introduced us to and we'll be going there instead.

Good morning from Medford. Had a good drive down yesterday. We went out to dinner last night and went for seafood, my favorite Coconut Shrimp, was super good. No good seafood in Roseburg. We both were tired last night so went to bed early, slept good. My coughing is almost gone and I am feeling so much better, finally. Today is my last day of antibiotics so happy they worked. Have my eye doc appt this morning for the scan, which I hate because they dilate my eyes to do the scan. Then will get my injection and head on back to Lois's house. Lois has her infusion this afternoon (she has RA also) but she is on a different med than I am and hers only takes about an hour, mine is 5 hours. But she goes every month and I go every 6 months so I like mine better LOL. We are picking up Jersey Mikes (none in Roseburg) for dinner and will just continue our visiting. I get my other eye injected tomorrow morning but no dilation so will head home after that.

Exciting news at my house this coming week. FINALLY got a contractor coming Monday to install 2 walk in showers. And for a reasonable price. I hate the tub/shower in my master bath as it is oversized tub with a seat right where you have to enter and it is a good thing I have long legs...but I still think it is dangerous. I am not getting anything fancy just basic showers and that is all I need to make me happy. I was only going to get the one in my master bath then decided for the price AND they showed up (a huge plus) I would just go ahead and get them both done.

Time for a shower and another cup of coffee as I have an 8:15 appt

Afternoon All, suppose to have a high of 60° today before the freezing temps this weekend. Still just hanging out. I have been doing the balance exercises. Waiting for sleep remembered a dvd I had somewhere, Lee Holden “Qi Gong for Seniors “which I bought years ago after seeing him on PBS. I still have a small tv/dvd combo from the rv so found a place to set up and exercised for 30 minutes. Always makes me feel good so don’t know why I stop. Karen glad you had an uneventful trip. Anita you have a full travel plan. I am not a happy flyer so will wait to hear of your adventures. Sue, maybe you can post a picture of piper and the squirrel when the fence is complete. Lol Everyone else I forgot what I read so be safe and behave.

Oh, Ladies, I had the best laugh when I looked at my phone this morning. My new entertainment is the apartment manager! Her incompetence with the snow was frustrating, but her latest is hilarious. Thanks to the city who approved, we have one assigned parking place for each apartment. There are also garages and undercover parking which there are waiting lists for. She sent out a survey asking if we would prefer open parking - in other words people could park both cars and someone could come home late and there would be no parking spot! Survey to be completed by the 18th. Dumbest idea ever and people let her know. So e-mail came this morning and open parking will not be happening. Even funnier she has vowed to figure the situation out! You can't magically create parking when there is no space. I'm going to chuckle all day which is mean since it is at her expense.

Karen, glad you feel well enough for the trip, appointment and visit! Sheila, I'm thinking I'll be home in September. Would love to have you come! You will no doubt love the cruise! Everyone remember those travel plans are mostly just plans! :) Just thinking younger Kansas granddaughter will graduate from high school in May so may plan around that. Shirl, flying isn't my thing either - Kansas and Alaska will be road trips. Exercising was so much easier when Steven and I did it together. I thought I could quickly increase my time on the treadmill and started pushing a little too much. Steady as she goes. Sue, glad you find reliable contractors! Irmi, have a wonderful time with your sisters!

Anita, talk of fkyimg made me remember. My Mom always wanted to go to Hawaii but was afraid to fly. At 85 she said to me “if you go with me and we die I won’t be afraid”.

Anita, as a past condo owner of a complex where each owner had two parking spots assigned to them, I can tell you it was amazing how many people who owned three or more cars bought condos there! The first car was supposed to be parked in their garage and the second in their driveway, but they often ignored the rules and parked in visitor spots instead. The result was a disaster, and we constantly had to threaten fines to people. One guy in what had been a two-bedroom condo had illegally finished his basement with no legal second means of egress and had 5 cars!!! I think he had another family down there, which would have been horrible in a fire. (My son added a new bedroom and full bath in the basement of his most recent house and put in a bigger window that was easily escaped through.)

Got my new water pump installed yesterday. That was the easy part. Everyone had assumed that the cause of my tank filling up fast and overflowing in my shower was that my tank must be mostly filled with soap or fat or who knows what. Guy came with a flushing device but then crawled on roof and inspected that my problem was that the vent pipe was almost all the way into the grey tank, not allowing any air to enter. He ended up pulling it up and that solved the problem. He thought it had to happen in the factory, but it does not make sense that I could use it that way for 10 years. After much thinking, I suspect I hit a branch and pushed it into the tank while driving through a parking lot. Anyway, it is fixed and I have a new water pump, so I am happy, if not poorer by a few hundred $$.

Ty and I had a great walk a couple hours ago. Next walk I'll bed my sweatshirt as temps have started down since clouds moved in. Still nice, and not complaining. Lyn please don't go diving lol

Anita, thanks for the laugh. I'm guessing your apartment manager won't last long. At least her idea was quickly shut down.

Judy, many of us are pleased that we suspected that vent. And that's good for you as it was probably one of the least expensive fixes. Go take a long shower!

I have 2 phones. One day when I quit traveling I'll go back to one, but they have gone down so much in cost that I'm paying less for two with better options than I did for 1 15 years ago! Only a couple people have the 2nd number. But that is the phone I have unlimited everything, therefore i use it for all my streaming, game playing, etc. Yesterday it felt bloated and I looked closely and discovered one side of the back was separating. Ouch. That's a battery gone bad. :( So that phone is turned off and I ordered another from amazon that's supposed to be here tomorrow. These are my first phones that you can't replace batteries. Yes, I could take it for service but chances are I would pay as much as this replacement will be. (No, I'm not getting an expensive phone.) No streaming today. This phone has unlimited data, but not using the hot spot. If I wanted to see something I could watch it directly from the phone though.

Lyn, I'm jealous of your swimming pool. Where I went to college there was an indoor, heated pool. Two of my PE's were swimming and at one time I had my life saving badge. Many nights I would go swim laps for exercise.

Karen, you are lucky to finally get a contractor. I am so glad Harold thought to order a walk in shower when we ordered this house. I ask my neighbor about the guy that is doing work at his house. The guy is suppose to be there in the morning so I am going to talk to him about my ceiling. Not sure that he would want to tackle that.

Anita, one of the things I would look at when I was looking at condos was the cars in the parking lot. I wouldn't even consider one that had cars that looked like they were in some stage of repair. When my son had a trailer in a trailer park it was a constant battle with people parking in his spaces. So many people have two cars I don't know how just having one assigned space would work.

Judy, I know you are happy to be able to use your shower again. You sure have had problems with your water pumps. In all the years I have had RV's I have only replaced one pump.

I made my 2 mile walk again this morning. I was only going to do one but just kept going. I am so stiff all over. I don't know if it is from the walking but I was stiff before. It's bad when everything hurts. My right heel hurts, my left knee hurts and my right hip hurts. I know from experience that foot pain can throw my knees and hips out of whack. If Covid would go away I would think about going to a gym. I think I have a yoga DVD around here somewhere. I have a DVD player but not sure I know how to hook it up and get it to play.

I went fishing this afternoon but the fish weren't bitting. The pond is down at least a foot and there isn't a chance of rain until next Thursday. There isn't much grass for the cows so they are bringing bales of hay.

ran out of milk and the half and half for the cereal was spoiled so a trip to the store... asked mom what she wanted MEAT I said you don't consider chicken meat??? she reminded me that the dr recommended red meat and I guess that is what she wanted... I will admit this week haven't been heavy on "meat" bacon one night chicken alfredo and chicken soup well the alfredo might have been last week right now I'm not sure we had French onion soup Sunday going to use what is left over and make Swiss steak... tomorrow night got cube steak to make it with lazy didn't feel like pounding it out however I am in the mood for Hawaiian haystacks my nieces b'day was yesterday so thinking of inviting them over and make that possibly Sunday or Monday depending upon their schedule I wish that we had a walk in shower... that type of stuff is so expensive here... brother's and or son in law could do it however the city demands that a contractor in this case a plumber would have to do it all which so increases the expense of anything.
went to the store before that I took a load down to the washer then had to go to the post office... so lots of walking (for me) my knees hurt so bad I did get the clothes into the dryer but not going down to take them out got some bbq beef for sandwiches for supper... just was tired of cooking wanted something reasonably easy fry daddy and micro were good soos chefs
well going to go get that hot chocolate...
you all have a great day
