Saturday February 5

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday February 5

Morning All. it’s 30° but the sun is shining. Next week is suppose to have temps in the 40° so will try to do more winter sowing. Haven’t felt like trying new recipes or watching tv. Spend time watching young people renovate old rundown buildings or going along with people antiquing on YouTube. It’s a full time job just trying to stay positive in a troubled world. Be safe

Today feels like it should be Sunday since I haven't been anywhere for 2 days. I think I'll have to go to town even if it's just to the Post Office. It only got down to 30 last night and suppose to be in the 50's this afternoon.

I hadn't seen very many Killdeer birds in a few years and now there are a lot in my yard. I think they like to tease the cats. They will run on the ground for a ways before they take off if the cat gets close. I hope they don't decide to nest in the yard with all the cats. They nest on the ground. I have seen them build a nest on the driveway in the gravel.

Afternoon all. Shirl, wish we were getting warmer temps! It’s only 18 right now and filtered sun. We didn’t get much snow but had about a quarter of an inch of ice. My neighbor treated and chipped the ice off the sidewalk but the driveway can just stay as it is! My gate was even iced shut so managed to get it opened and got the car out front and that’s where it’s going to stay for awhile! I need to go out in a bit for an appointment to get a COVID test. My son stopped by for a few minutes last Sunday and turned up positive after a friend of his was positive. They were at camp for several days together. I’m not having any symptoms but have been encouraged to get tested anyway just to be on the safe side and for the safety of anyone I might come in contact with. Not that I go or see anybody so isolating isn’t a problem. About the only place I go is the grocery store! And I’ve had all 3 shots. Such is the world we live in right now. Okay, I’m done whining! Judy, you’re braver then I am. Just a couple of cables confuse me but that many would really confuse me! Barbie, your gourd is really nice. I love the color combination! I just heard on the weather channel that this storm we had covered about 2100 miles so lots of people have been in it’s path dealing with all sorts of conditions. Hoping it’s the last big one for the winter! I won’t complain about the snowfall totals anymore since it’s better then ice!! And my nice neighbor and his family are leaving tomorrow for sun, sea and sand for several weeks! Well, guess I need to get bundled up again and head out for my appointment! Hope everyone has a great day and weekend.

I know 55 is not cold for many of you, but it feels like freezing to me in my shorts and t-shirt that I got dressed in this morning. It was 78 yesterday, so this morning was a shock! Anyway, no one is sitting outside today, especially with the strong winds, and I am inside along with everyone with furnaces and electric heaters going!! And now it is raining.

Mobile repair guy did not show up yesterday and did not respond to my text messages until this morning at around to tell me he could not help me because his helper was sick. Apparently, he is older and cannot climb on roofs or reach into the place where my water pump is, so he suggested I call someone to get my tank cleaned out. His theory is that my grey tank is mostly full of soap. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I certainly have not, and since my problems happened all of a sudden, this makes no sense. Anyway, I left a message at another mobile RV guy and hope he is able to help me on Monday. In the meantime, I am "dry camping." Basically, that means I can use hardly any water and take dribbling showers. I have been washing dishes and rinsing them in my dishpan and then dumping it in the toilet, which thankfully is not having any problems.

I have been taking showers using less than a gallon of water! With these techniques, I can manage for two days. Last night shower filled so no time to wash my hair so did it this morning in dishpan, dumping water in the toilet, as usual. Anyway, I am getting tired of all of this.

Also, when i first called this guy, he started to ask me questions and how often I dumped my tanks and if I had been dry camping, etc. The insinuation was clearly that I was a woman who did not know how to handle my water system, which really irritated me. And how in the world could my grey water tank only be full of soap??? Like I had stuffed a bunch of bars down there and never used enough water to flush it away?

OK, I will try to get off my rant and do some reading tonight. I have a stack of books I bought and never read while I was teaching, so I am trying to catch up.

Judy, I don't think the first RV repair guy you called knows what he's talking about. I have had a motor home and been reading RV magazines for about 35 years and I have never heard of anyone having a block from using too much soap. There's an article in the Escapees November/December magazine about gray water tanks pressuring up and not draining. It talks about the vent being blocked or the pipe falling down into the tank. It says you can run a hose down the pipe to try to flush it out. Be sure the drain is open if someone tries that. Be careful if you try to pull the pipe up or you can pull it out of the tank. The pipe should be even with the top of the vent fixture.

I called my neighbor this afternoon to see if her husband had forgotten about his cow that has been penned up across the road from me all day. I figured he had forgotten about the cow and he had. She is in Florida at Disney World with her granddaughter. She was complaining about how cold it is and it's raining. Her granddaughter is on some dance team.

When I went to town I got an order of boiled crawfish to go. I think I need to wait a month before I get anymore. The order was mostly small crawfish, very small.

My nose started up again this afternoon. I would sure like to know what sets the waterworks off.

Shirl, I know what you mean about the sun. I had it back here today and even the low 50's for a high felt so much better. By tomorrow early afternoon the sun will give way to clouds again and then rain Monday. But I had today. :D

Judy, I know many who've had to take care of the vent mentioned to get their get tank draining again. That would be an easy fix if that's what it ends up being. And no Drano, etc will help if it's that.

Nothing much else to say. So off I go.

a trip to the store is about all I feel like I accomplished today although I did find a few words on this word search page... basically I'm cheating sorta.... I am a terrible speller so when they have you come up with the words it's really hard so will go and copy off the words off the word list in the back of the book then will find the words... but it really had me confused the first letter was found in a movie title and could only contain 6 letters... and the words wouldn't have more than the number of letters in the title say if there was 2 I's located in the title a word would never have more than 2 i's in it... that was what was so confusing to me... to me awhile to figure it out... so it took awhile to get started... even though I've been somewhat cheating..
oh an other accomplishment tonight was helping mom with a shower... and of course fixing supper we had taco's had a really hard time figuring out what to make think I wasn't in the mood to cook but cook I did
have a roast that I need to do something with like it's a leftover...
tomorrow my two girls are coming over I hope cause I will be making a lot of soup for the two of us if they don't.... saw a recipe on Natasha's kitchen for French Onion Soup that sounded good... I'd bought a lot of sweet onion's with the thought of using them for French Onion Soup then I watch her video again and she recommends yellow onion oh well I have sweet so that is what is going to be used... but didn't find the bagget so if my daughter doesn't find it we will be using the french bread rather big "croutons" the cheese she says is the normal for this soup is sure expensive... but bit the bullet and got it so if we have to use the french bread I think we will mix swiss cheese in it suppose to be able to substitute so thinking I can use it to extend the other cheese... we will hope... I am not doing a big no no
well that is my day oh we had a heat wave.... all the way up to 30 at 3:00
wonder how Karen West is doing? and Karen how are you feeling? the meds working?
you all have a great day
