Groundhog Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Groundhog Day

Postby Colliemom » Wed Feb 02, 2022 9:50 am

Morning everyone. Cloudy and 23° Here. The w storm is south of me, so nothing going on here. We are sandwiched between the storm and some light lake effect to the NW, so no snow for us.

O’Sharon, I think about our trip to Phil’s burrow and Gobblers Knob. It was fun. Thank you for taking me there. Now when I see the doings on Groundhog Day, I feel like I’m there again. And Phil saw his shadow, so 6 more weeks of winter  Looks like you are definitely in for some winter too. I enjoyed my trip to PA. Need to come back and explore some more.

Waiting on a call from a fence installer about giving me an estimate for some new fencing. He can come out and measure etc., and then if I go with it, will install it in the spring.

Velda, I’m with you on picking out paint. Not my favorite thing either. I did luck out with my small bathroom, as I loved the SeaFoam color my neighbor put in hers, so went with that. I’m a fan of Behr, but since that was a Valspar color, decided to use Valspar Signature rather than go to Home Depot and have it made in a Behr paint. I have to admit that I’m hooked on that now. It went on beautifully and easily. Did you happen to look at Behr’s color of the Year called Breezeway? First time I saw it, I though nah, but now it’s beginning to grow on me. Not planning to use it anywhere right now, but never know. I’m going to do some painting in my basement, but am using up leftover paint if I have enough. Going to mix either the SeaFoam or some blue I have left into a 3/4 can of white and make my own for one room. Friend of mine does that all the time when he paints. Makes his own color, takes it to the paint store and has them match and make as much as he needs.

Peggy, nice to see you post. Glad you can always find things to do when there isn’t much to do  I read a quote not long ago that said “Boredom isn’t because there’s nothing to do, It’s because you choose to do nothing”. Tina, glad you are enjoying your time in FL. Catherine, I admire your desire to learn French. I never learned a foreign language. Judy, keep on walking, it indeed does a body good.

I’m in the middle of house cleaning, but stopped because I Don’t want to run the vac in case my call comes. He said around 10:00. Kitchen and my bathroom are done. This is a general go over, as did a deeper cleaning one week.

So, off to do a little online shopping. LL wan Bu ks are plingg up, so will put some things into my Wish List till I’m ready to buy. Have a nice day all. Stay safe those of you in the storm. Wonder if Shirl got snowed in as we haven’t heard from here of late, Anne either.

Good morning Sue and All, Sue thought I posted yesterday but must have goofed. I have been in the need to fall back mood. Hearing sad news, concerning news and people getting on my nerves. You know just life. Snow didn’t disrupt my life and it is almost gone. Daughter has gather 7 more milk jugs and I just need some warmer weather to plant seeds. Be safe

Nobody could see their shadow here this morning. I could just barely see the barn for the fog. I hope it's not foggy tonight when I'm coming back from Lafayette. The cold still hasn't gotten here yet and it will be in the 70's.

We are going to a Mexican restaurant for the Meetup. I haven't been to that restaurant in years. I have been wanting Mexican food so hope it's good.

Now that I have a new roof I have to find someone to fix the ceilings. I will get them to repair the wall where CC tore the sheetrock paper. That's going to mean I'll have to paint. Hope I don't have to paint the whole room. I wish I had Sue's ambition for fixing her house. I am still waiting for the plumber to call about installing my kitchen faucet.

Good morning!

Accuweather says no precipitation for the next 4 hours, but there is white stuff falling from the sky! Now I have to decide if I want to sit and watch it or get something done!

Have a good day!

Yes,Sue, Breezewzy was one of the chips I picked up. But it's way to dark for where I'm needing paint, and way too blue for the green in my chairs.
Sunny here , as usual. Not sure if it will be windy again today. I missed Curves Monday, due to sons Dr appointment, so will be dressing for Curves, after my weekly Wednesday morning watercolor class.
Kitchen repair work almost done from insurance standpoint, so I can begin cleaning cupboards as there are no more boxes of flooring stacked here and there and not as many of Sean's tools to trip over. Lots more stuff To give away or offer on marketplace . And will fill a trash bin again I suspect.
My kitty girls are now 17, or almost (Stormy about 10 days ago, Mandy next week). I'm blessed they are both pretty ok, eating well, enjoying their sunny places to sleep, and generally just being kitties.
Not much else here of excitement.
Have a good February and stay warm if you are in the chill zones.

Good thing Phil isn't here in the desert or he would have been blown clear to Mexico by now! We have Santa Ana winds blowing thru here today! Up to 70 mph gusts possible! I was supposed to do a haircut at 1:00 today on a lady's deck outside but we postponed it until tomorrow. Her deck faces north which is where the wind is coming from so that won't work.

I took Spanish in Jr High and High school but lost interest in it and quit. Now I wish I would have taken it more seriously. I barely remember any of it now and we get a lot of Mexicans in our shop that don't speak English. One of our stylists is Hispanic so she takes those clients if she is working that day, or helps interpret for us. I need to learn a few key words that could help with that.

I have been so tired after work lately that I fall asleep reading the posts on here before I can respond. I slept almost 12 hours last night! I forgot to say "rabbits". Didn't realize the month was over already. Sunday was the 5 year anniversary of my dad's passing.

Sunday was just me and my new co-worker. We got totally bombarded! Turns out the shop closest to us closed up because only one stylist showed up (the manager) and she didn't want to work by herself so she left). So all their customers came over to our shop! We had a 2+ hour wait all day! I didn't take my lunch but let my co-worker take hers. Luckily, the last 4 on-line check-ins didn't show up by 4pm so we were able to close on time but were exhausted! Then I had to do 2 more haircuts at the park when I got home. Luckily, Monday and Tuesday were fairly quiet.

Now I have 3 days to get this place in some sort of order before I head to Laguna Beach on Saturday. Next week I work Monday and Tuesday and then head to Casa Grande on Wednesday! Whew!

Oh! The big news!! :D I was in the putter's league playoff yesterday morning (told my manager I would be late because I HAD to play golf yesterday! ). There were 8 of us in the playoff from last week's tournament. So we all had to play the 9th hole which is by far the toughest hole on the course. Long, narrow, uphill and curves at the end, and alongside the pond on one side and a retaining wall on the other side. I never get less than 5+ strokes on it. One of the ladies got her ball in in 3 strokes by hitting the retaining wall and the ball bounced over toward the hole! So I decided to try that. I have tried it before but it never worked for me. But I had nothing to lose this time. I hit it hard and it hit the wall and bounced back on the green toward the hole! I got 3 strokes on that as well! No one else came close. So we had to do one more playoff hole to determine who got 2nd place and 3rd place (one gal got a hole in one last week so she already won 1st place). Well I wasn't quite so lucky on that hole and she beat me. But, I still got 3rd place (out of 35 total players) and got a cool plaque! It was really fun!

me putting on the second playoff hole. I missed this putt tho. :(

I wrote a message on the first, and it imploded to somewhere as I tried to submit. So maddening. I completely forgot rabbits too!!
Read 281 books last year. I won’t read as many this year as I got a Roku for my bedroom TV. Watching movies on it.
Been sunny…cool but not cold here. So went into pool a couple of times. Talk about being lazy…that I have been.
On Sunday had a nice visit with grandson’s wife. They did IVF. It is so nice of her to share all the details of that procedure with us.
I am fascinated…the baby is 13 inches and two lbs at 5 months. He will be my 7th great.
My daughter and her BF flew to east coast for a week. I do worry about them flying in bad weather.

After spending four days at Disney, I decided since it has been a couple of days that I would use one of my quick COVID tests--negative!! Yea. I wore a mask, as required in every indoor place, and about half the time outdoors. I figured I was fairly safe, but you never know for sure, so I feel better after the test. Will repeat it in three days just to be sure. Whew!

Still having drain problems. I can take a very quick shower, but that is all. I washed a couple of cups yesterday and two pans this morning, going really easy on water and dumping dishwater down toilet, but now with shower and dishes, the water in the shower drain is down about 3-4", where it should be not visible. I just dumped more Drano down it, but probably just a sponge bath tonight. Called a highly recommended mobile RV technician, but have not heard back from him. I will dump my tanks tomorrow, which makes a whooshing noise and seems to at least partly unplug things, so will be able to take short shower tomorrow. Hope the guy calls me tonight.

At least today was a warmer day, so even running AC. Walked over to take trash out, but muscles in my legs kept cramping, so all that walking really shows how out of shape I am.

Peggy, I'd love to get back to Mexico again. So I'm traveling with you vicariously. Today I reserved a site at this park in Texas again for next winter. I'll try to down a couple weeks in Benson first. If Maine becomes real for the following summer, I'll head there from here.

Lyn, Roku is dangerous. I hate to admit how little reading I'm doing anymore. I have so many books, some real and tons of ebooks). I'm guessing I'll read more at the motel because a book is easier to put down when a customer comes in or calls. But only time will tell.

Judy, I don't know if I'll ever convince myself to pay today's prices for Disney World, or Disney Land. But I never say never. I do remember how tired I was after each day at Disney World years ago when I was in good shape lol. And I hope you get your tank to drain.

The high for tomorrow will happen around midnight at 70. The metrologist is calling the high mid 50's because it'll go down from there. Then freezing overnight the next couple nights. We're supposed to have rain starting overnight tonight into mid morning. I'm guessing it'll get muddy again. Ty and I enjoyed a few nice walks today and he was thrilled when one of his dogs friends appeared with his mom and dad and they got to ignore each other for awhile. Lol

Barbie, congrats on your golfing.

I got a lot done today! :D Got the trash and recycling taken out, 3 loads of laundry done AND put away! Did 2 haircuts, and got 4 new tires put on my car. Oh, and I put another coat of paint on the gourd.

Tomorrow, clean the bathroom, kitchen, and living room, work on the gourd, and maybe get the car washed if the winds die down. Lots of dust and sand blowing all over so not worth getting it washed until that subsides. It was like a hurricane all day! Sky was so brown that I couldn't even see the mountains. :o Sounds quiet tonight tho so maybe it is finally calming down.

Will be in the low to mid 70's in Laguna Beach this weekend so that will be perfect for exploring beaches! Can't wait!

Still waiting for my W-2 from the pot place. I really want to get my taxes done ASAP. I have contacted them and asked about it and was told it is on it's way... .

I sent for my mail the other day hopefully it will have my tax information... down in Q I would know where to go here in Jackson I don't know haven't heard if AARP free is available. might call the library and see if they know...
I heard that it was blowing down in the Q area guess it is further as well... Judy if you were in Q I'd suggest calling the protologist he just deals with tanks it almost sounds like the tank has crud built up in it so it's not holding enough water... but that is just a guess and no idea what would cause it or how to fix it... seeing that it is the grey water tank that isn't holding much... I have two grey water tanks one for the kitchen if the guy that pumps out my tanks is right I have a leak in that one was another thing that I was going to have checked out on when I got to Q when I do make it down it's going to be an expensive year
pretty laid back day did my normal morning stuff which includes scriptures then open face book got absorbed in it .... I right down the books I read one so that if it sounds familiar I can look and see if I've read it or if it's a part of a series I have them written in the series so I can see if I have read the whole series... today I wrote down the books I read in Jan and then saw one of the series had only one book read so looked it up and there are several in the series now... hopefully I have them on the shelf might relook them up and check them off the bought book list on phone... I started doing that as I have bought the same book more than once... so now I list them on the phone...
I actually open family history site and ancestery need to be more diligent with that was going to go get RX for mom but according to the information when I call in that they are still waiting for the dr to call back I may have to recall him and see if he is going to have her continue the prescription it's a water pill and potassium
pretty much my day
that was neat Barbie always exciting when you score right???
good hearing from you Lyn
you all have a great day
it's now -5 ugh

I think I can bring it to "Things Remembered" at the mall and have them engrave it for me.

Barbara, might also check price there and price at a regular trophy shop if there is one in the area. As I recall, Things place can be pricey. But it will be nice to display your personalized trophy! Glad you had fun.
